Thanks for the video. I'm in the process of upgrading from my G2. I'm thinking about the Crystal Light but will wait until there is more info from CES on the Super. However having watched your video and others I can't see how I'll be able to run a Super at a decent FPS even with a 5090. You're using a 4080 with the light and I've seen others say that even with a 4090 you still can't max out the settings. So I'm starting to think the Light is probably the way to go until GPUs catch up to the headsets. You said you had a G2 is the FOV and clarity significantly better in the Light?
Thanks for watching. definitely coming form G2 FOV is wider however I require blured edges to have 90FPS so not as wide anymore LOL and the native resolution in the pimax is like a g2 set on 1.5 upscale. I think this is a DCS problem tho not hardware or pimax in msfs it runs better. dcs is just old lol. If you have any more qustions you can find me here as well discord.gg/gv2YUDvJ
I dont have a problem with FPS. But its not clear. The image in my Cristal light is kinds dark and everything outside the cockpit is blurry or hazey. Im starting to think there is something wrong with the headset.
@T-Tailer I don't have DLSS on in DCS, but I do have the 90hz upscaleing in the Pimax app. I did have DLSS on in DCS, and it was much worse. Please, if you have any idea what I can do, please make a video. I'm seriously considering sending this headset back. It's blurry it's useless.
regarding DLSS- down load the new versions 3.8.2 DLL files into your MT BIN folder - makes a big difference to the quality of DLSS from pervious versions.
Turning on the 90hz lab is no different than turning on dlss. You get a view as if you smeared a thin layer of vasoline on the lens 😂😂 and that’s on the cockpit alone. What I would do is lower your in cockpit to 512 as opposed to 1024, lower the LOD to .5 or lower. Enable FFR and play with the settings in open XR tool ki. Lock your frame rate to whatever you think you can handle (I have a 4080 as well) so I lock it to 70 so that I get the same performance up high and down low. All your other settings as described in the video can remain.
@ almost forgot , enable NIS but leave the anamorphic settings alone, in FFR I think I went with 1/16 for middle resolution and 1/16 for outer resolution again this is a preference thing but this is what I found that works best for my machine with a 4080 super and a 9800 X3D clocked to 5.45 GHz with 64 MB of DDR 5 expo. I also set my PCL to 72 Hz and in DCS lock the frame rate at 70 as well in open XR tool kit. I’m not as discerning when it comes to shimmer, but maybe set TAA on or MSAA to 2x my grass is set to very low, it might even be at the lowest (dunno as I’m not near my pc atm) trees aren’t as high as yours and neither is forest details (they might even be set to the VR defaults in DCS) anyway, all my MFDS are legible as are all the fonts. I can get 80fps + up high, but I value a more consistent FPS, and would rather save the overhead for that. Good luck!
@@YourSimCFI forgot to mention, lower your resolution to .78-.80 in pimax. Trust me everything will still look great, and you should pretty much be in 70-80fps range without the fuzz
@@YourSimCFI Yeah, I am confused, isnt the Pimax F-Rendering and Priority Rendering if both checked the same thing? Trust me I running a 4070 so I need all the help I can get

@@YourSimCFI Man thats awesome, I have a pretty good experience at 90mhz upscale but terrain and tanks/trucks/ground targets are hard to see and blurry with current settings. Thanks for the help man
Can you do me a favour. Can you fly the Persian gulf free flight instant mission for the F4E and see if you drop to 50-60fps going over the first airfield about 30secs from where you start? With quad views my fps tanks over that part just as the two AI F4s take off. I can’t not play with quad views cause it lets my 4070TiS play at much better graphics but I can’t get around those drops in busy airfields ☹️ might have to upgrade my 5800X3D
90 Hz upscaling looks worse than DLSS quality with the latest DLL on my rig. Thats 50 % of the native res, actually. 90 frames maybe, Loss of detail and lots of shimmering when I do this.
I get better image quality with my Quest 3 than with the 90% upscaling on the Pimax. It’s definitely not the solution, and it’s challenging to achieve perfect smoothness with the Pimax at native resolutions. The FPS fluctuates in the same proportions, whether at 72Hz or 120Hz. I’ve had the headset for 3 days, and despite having a 4090, 64GB of RAM, and an i7-14700KF, I’m relatively disappointed so far. The image is sharper at native resolution, but I much prefer the lenses of the Quest 3.
