3:46 So, it turns out that almost, if not every single figure that has a closed fist is molded to have the middle finger slightly raised as a sort of "copyright" protection measure in the sense that only the original Hasbro produced molds would have said detail, or something along those lines. It is however much more subtle than on Sandstorm most of the time, the other notable example would be Kingdom Galvatron who also has it prominently raised.

Edit: I think the whole point actually is to track down bootlegs, the kinds that change the name but use the exact same sculpts with some modifications ala baiwei for example, if they retain the raised finger it's a way for Hasbro to prove that the tooling was originally done by them, how this applies for open hand sculpts I have no clue
I feel like it wouldn’t look as odd and would make more sense if they molded the hands to have the index finger raised a bit rather than the middle finger. Not that I really have a problem with how it is now, but it would probably look better 🤷♂️

I'm gonna be honest, I'm perfectly happy with the Thrilling 30 Sandstorm from a literal decade ago.
HOWEVER! I am four minutes into this video, and I am now seriously considering getting this figure solely because of the subtle Middle Finger.
The only thing that could fit in that cage would be a minicon
We finally have a Legacy G1 Triple changer for Sandstorm.
These videos are better instructions than the actual paper instructions in the box.

Emgo I love your reviews. I found this guy for 25$ today for memorial day weekend. In that honor he will be repaint in true ch- 58 sea dragon colors. You brought my attention to his finger. It's for the blackout comparison . I also mistransform his tail for a better look in heli mode.
Ngl Emgo really threw me for a loop when he said he was refusing to show us the articulation. Watching like 15 years of toy reviews and then just getting that out of nowhere is hilarious.
The humor in these reviews never fails to amuse me. Despite some strange design choices still looks like a really fun Transformer to play around with and swap between modes. Unfortunate the bot mode has to be the weakest but still a decent enough update and well worth adding to the collection. Excited for him to arrive in June. Now waiting on a legacy War Criminal Leader Octane.
The robot mode is pretty spot on IMO.
I think it's the dune buggy mode that suffered the most.
That being said, it's still leagues better as a triple changer than Astrotrain or Blitzwing.

It's neat that some of the helicopter mode windows become taillights for the dune buggy mode.

I had real issues with buggy mode & had trouble getting it to roll until i see Emgo transform it correctly with the blades pushed in & the "cap" covering them. Now it's perfect! 😂

It could be the middle finger could be a sign they wanted to make his hands have articulation similar to the kind Jhiaxus had but scrapped it last second 😂

I've noticed the middle finger molding on a lot of my transformers actually, it just seems a lot more prominent on this sculpt lol, I think another example would be legacy galvatron

As Triple Changes go which are norturous for having one mode being very compromised, I have to admit Hasbro have done a great job with Sandstorm, I would go so far to say he is the best Triple Changer yet...
I would ask I wish people would stop comparing Hasbro with 3rd Party...
The 3rd Party do not have to consider mass production and have a much highee price point..
If Hasbro where willing to sell Leader Class for similar prices to 3rd Party companies, I'm pretty sure they would match or even better them.
I wasn't expecting Sandstorm to be Leader Class, but damn, I want him in my collection
I get there going to g1 vibes and that’s nothing wrong with it but, the comic book version of sandstorm is my personal favorite.
That is one sweet looking chopper more. The Generations Sandstorm is cool and everything, but this one is definitive.

I was hopping to see the legacy Decepticon Triple-changer version of Octane.
The g1 toy has the most functional triple changer mode...

I guess the cage can rescue headmasters and prime masters and such. I can't think of who would be the third triple changer for the bots. The cons have Octane, Blitzwing, and Astrotrain originally. I like the cage in the back of the buggy. Toyhax will probably fix the unpainted windows.

I recently found him at my local target and at the time target was putting some leader class on sale for 35 dollars
The mere fact that ALL THREE MODES look genuinely good, even the weakest mode, was enough for me to buy this guy! And after waiting nearly a whole month…I can say Sandstorm is awesome! The main propeller in copter mode doesn’t really spin as freely on mine, but it does spin! I just have to keep my finger on one of the plastic blades and turn it manually, so thankfully it’s not difficult to spin. (I can still easily use it in stop motion!) And maybe as I keep playing with it, the rotor might loosen up! But either way, while it might be slightly disappointing that the main rotor doesn’t spin as freely, it’s not a deal breaker! (Plus, it’s most likely just my copy, and it still can spin pretty easily, even if not as freely as the small propeller, or the wheels!) and besides all that, it’s still an awesome toy in my book!👍👍👍

As much as I like the different take the T30 version had with the Armored Car/VTOL mode I am super happy to see Sandstorm get updated with his G1 modes as well.
Now we need new "Transformers" figures for Broadside & Octane
Just about every other mainline Generations Transformer since Kingdom has skewed toward the animation (culminating in Animated Bumblebee and Optimus), now Sandstorm comes along with his toy head guaranteeing that he will stand out from the rest. This is the reason he is low key giving us the bird 😏
I like the Helicopter mode. Makes me wish we got a G1 style Blackout to go with Earthrise Barricade.

When a triple changer is designed, one mode is always compromised. Honestly with the budget they've done really well to balance them all out.
I would say his buggy is the weakest, and the packaging is crafty showing a front on view to hide the kibble at the rear BUT it reminds me of the original toy so it kinda balances out. It has a good presence on the table and nice details all round.
His helicopter mode is beautiful and I love how it hides most of the buggy away. The little touches such as the pinstripe paint app and extra panels coming out to fill gaps ... lovely. I also like the little touch that you can push the rotors down to the body so they can pose in position rather than being loose.
Only issue with Robot mode are his legs, in robot mode they bend at the knee but really only in three set positions. fully straight, bent, fully bent.
The other issue is the rails used for his transformation, kinda scared he'll become loose and collapse over time, however it does really click in position nicely. still would have preferred if they folded out though.
Big plus points that each of his transformations are fun and easy enough to remember. Lose some points for having to keep the cage with him basically for buggy mode, plus points for the fantastic tangerine deco, really pops. Lose some points for the chest, mine does clip in nicely but you really have to fiddle with the engine block and head/neck area, then suddenly it just fits, but fits tight. And finally plus points for his awesome Motocross rider look in general, seriously he looks like he's dressed ready to do some jumps but with a backpack (maybe gonna do Dakar?). I'd love to see someone get him on Wreck Gar's bike mode.

Have you checked out Cang Toys/Trans Age Hunting Shadow (Huntpow)? That's probably the best looking and most realistic triple changer I've ever seen. It transforms from a Trumpchi Empow car to a Shenyang J-16 fighter jet and then to a leopard that looks like Ravage. Pretty sweet.

This figure as his G1 counterpart was my first autobot I drew when I was younger...but sadly I lost that picture due to a storage issue....figures

I've always wondered if Transformers with Radically different sized Alt modes could retain the size of the Alt mode in robot mode cause a helicopter is way bigger then a dune buggy. could be why no one notices Laser beak is cause he's actually the size of a cassette tape when spying.
Based on Hasbros Hasbroing as of Kate I think we all know we are going to get another release with a different head sculpt in a different sub line

The other day while at a light waiting on people to actually move I caught myself thinking out loud "Finally, Traffic Rolling Like Rolling things Should Roll"! The chest won’t stay pegged in on mine. Annoying.
Also whenever I try to move his waist, the mushroom peg tries to fall apart. The only thing stopping it is there’s no room for it to come all the way off with the bottom of his chest hanging in front of it.
This and the gray piece that's supposed to peg down when in buggy mode. Super annoying.

Having the metal finger stuck out in a fest like that also increases the chances of doing damage because if you hit somebody with that in the chest you can actually crack and or break their ribs and God forbid you give them a shot like that to the temple its lights out permanently

Robot mode looks great from the front but too hollow at the back.
I hope this means we get Sureshot some point in the future.
not sure anyone has noticed but this storm looks like Mashin Drilljan from the top to the head of Kirameiger with the crane there plus i like copter bots like the decepticon Cyclonus I wish they could do more Aramada line into the Legacy United line I’d love to have Cyclonus or Demolisher

Both Sandstorm and Whirl were always odd ones because if they origin as Dorvak toys.
I've been looking forward to this figure for what seems like ages now, because that Thrilling 30 toy was just awful. While I do hope they reuse the mold to make a more screen accurate version, I'm definitely going to get this one.
When I finally get my Sandstorm, I'm gonna get rid of that stupid orange noggin!!! Been waiting for ages for him and this is the stunt they pull on us! Anyway, hopefully the next triple changer we get is Octane. I already have him legends scale but want to get the Hasbro one to complete my triple changerHasbro set. Broadside does not count. He is the equivalent of Duplo to Hasbro's Lego...
This should have had the accurate head and i think the Autobot symbol should have had a white background/outline.
Does his chestplate on your copy actually tab in when in robot mode? Mine and many others don't actually secure properly.
Personally, I would like it if the tail end of the helicopter folds away into the backpack, and the head sculpt is different. But that’s just because I don’t really like the g1 sandstorm design that much, and rather prefer the voyager sandstorm from 2013, the vtol wings on the back make it very cool.
Upscale it, fill in the gaps, change the upper arms to yellow and I'd happily have this an MP Sandstorm.
