I'd like that. That'd be cool. But, Sandstorm's a Triplechanger, Blackout's not, so thats the only thing that makes me not entirely sure. But, it'd still be cool!
I like how in bot mode he looks like a rugged explorer with a backpack, and the other two modes basically reflect this. Helicopter mode is fire 🔥, might have to consider him just for that

Liked for the intro alone, that was really creative. I like me a Triple-Changer, and as a complete package, I think this is my favourite one I've gotten so far. He does what Legacy Blitzwing set out to do, which was to blend the G1 toy and toon stylings together into a happy medium, and in my opinion he pulls it off even better. I don't mind Triple-Changers being 'Leaders by default' either. When you factor in how the number of transformations exponentially increases with the addition of a second alt. mode - robot to alt. A, plus robot to alt. B, and alt. A to alt. B - you're basically getting two extra Transformers in one, for roughly the combined price of a Voyager and a Deluxe. (At least where I live, anyway) Plus, the toy being at Voyager size works for me, since I mainly collect Voyagers, and I like my Transformers to all be a similar size.
Just so you know, there is a gap between the tab you mentioned that might be keeping the chest from tabbing in, so it is NOT the problem, it's just a shallow peg hole (try using floor polish on the pegs and 5mm port on the chest) Also glad to see a fellow canadian get him early to stop the "leader triple changer too small that mean not worth price and is bad" thing

For some reason at both my local targets he's priced like a voyager at $35 US instead of $55, and they had a 30% all transformers promotion going on so I got him for $24.50, so I basically got a Leader for the price of a deluxe!!!
I was not expecting a Lego city reference, but I'm glad I got it. To me, the leader=more complex is great depending on the figure, like triple changers who need it or SS Primal
When you were picking up animated prime and sandstorm for the voyager vs leader comparison, when you put them both down, at least for me, prime was very noticeably lighter sounding and quieter than sandstorm who sounded louder and heavier
Hes mine favorite auto bot triple changer to and ever review I seen had the chest issue but no feet issue . I seen one with the whole front of the buggy wouldnt lay flat one side was off the ground . The mold does have issues with warping still hope stock hold we never get enough and I need him .
I had the older Anniversary version of sandstorm, Don't remember what year, But he was one of my First transformers figures, I remember loving how his Rotors turned into his buggy tires! I miss that figure.
Intro was really fun and super unexpected. Definitely excited for this one even at the LC price point. While subjectively I think Blitzwing does everything slightly better, this a decent attempt and update. For me the plastic quality, and durability is definitely worth the price over a lesser price point. Complexity isn't anywhere as crazy as the Blitwing but still manages some clever ideas in how it basically turns inside out to form the helicopter. Lose chest plate I think is universal from most of the reviews I've seen. I think I have this one preordered for June. Now could we please get a LC Legacy Octane.

The black end of the winch can go in the rear of the engine, under the cage, so it can be detached and still used. The small grey gun can go at the bottom and back of the buggy mode, to form a rear exhaust. In bot mode, the rear two bits on the sides of his back can be moved out a bit so you can slide the cage to the top of his back and then they can be closed back a bit to keep the cage in place. This was my first modern triple changers as it's definitely worth the price (unlike the extremely badly designed Blitzwing and Astrotrain, which I haven't bothered getting).
I bought some articulated hands for ROTF leader class prine from shspeways back in the day that id forgotten all about and it was a nice surprise to find them in my junk draw and eventually fit them . There awesome by the way
On average a leader class costs 70€ here in Finland, that is if you can even find one, since transformers are extremely rare, and one of the few stores that consistently sells them charges even more (90€ :( )
I just got the thrilling 30 figure, so I think I’ll sit this one out, but if HasTak ever repaints this as some version of Blackout I might just give it a shot

this is probably going to be a pegwarmer whenever they do a small leader its usually an iconic character like shockwave or astrotrain but i don't know anyone who brings up sandstorm as a favorite character or even a popular one
Regarding the chest being loose issue, the waist seems to be slightly misassembled and the mushroom pegs needs to be pushed more backward. Doing so will hamper the waist poseability but will make the chest tab properly, at least that is what happen with my copy.
I really do like this figure as well, and it's honestly shot up to one of my favorites from the Legacy United line. As for the price point, well, yeah, I paid it obviously. Not gladly, mind you, like I did for a SS86 Grimlock. I kind of have mixed feelings about Sandstorm, but predominantly positive, mostly because of the toy quality itself. I agree with you that he does need a little extra oomph his kit to justify his price point.
I have a philosophy now with newer copies of figures now a days due to many of my purchases being loose and tabs not tabbing in the places they’re supposed to plug into. As much as I want something when it first comes out I wait towards the very end when it’s not as relevant I unfortunately have to wait for the better copies. Worked for when I got kingdom Galvatron! It was the only copy from what I know that didn’t have the messed up shoulders 😱🤯
can't wait to get my sandstorm, he looks fantastic. I had the same knee issue with my animated prime, there is a gap filler kit on tfsafari for this prime that has gap fillers for the knees and that tightened up the knees to where its no longer an issue anymore, i just put a little tape in the gap before i put the filler in so it sticks out just a little bit so there is more friction at the joint and its perfectly tight now.
I need to grab this guy really soon! Hopefully I can! Sandstorm looks sick! Perfect altmodes & perfect botmode! Love him! He has a gun, despite being a pacifist in G1, but its fine. Its cool. I love the rope-cage thing. Thats a cool accessory. I really want a Legacy/Legacy-style Octane! Hes one of my fav Triplechangers! & he'd look great with Sandstorm!
The way I look at the prices is this. Transformers is, and always has been, a fantastic deal for the money. Prices have gone up pretty evenly with inflation in their main market, the US. But Deluxes are still the same price as Marvel Legends and Star Wars Black Series. Those are action figures that regularly share parts and designs and don't super often get new stuff. Deluxe Transformers are almost always unique, interesting, and every single one is _at least_ two toys in one, plus generally having far better QC across the board than other action figure lines (and design always getting better), all while being the same price as those other lines. We can tell just from that, that Deluxes are a superb deal all around, and the bigger or more complex figures being more expensive, but not unreasonably so, and the smaller ones being reasonably cheaper... So yes, like any collecting hobby, Transformers tends to wreck the wallet regularly, but it's so worth it anyway because thats just a part of a collecting hobby. Prices will have to get a fair bit worse, or the quality of figures go down, before I start complaining That all being said, I know this whole conversation is different when we bring in the insane Canadian prices

I am so glad I got my blitzwing at clearance price. It's a punch in the gut when hasbro, dose this to the fans that are willing to pay leader class for a voyger or deluxe, they could have gave him articulated fingers and a few more accessories and a blast effect. I know it's all about money, but they are nickel and diming us to death.
So far I have the two leader triple changers that are out and do plan to get this one as well even if price point is not the best I do enjoy the figures and your honest review helped me decide fully. I do hope the rest of the triple changers get new figures cause I would enjoy an octane and broadside and a new springer as well
The winch has returned! Really, despite all the excellence of the WFC and Legacy toylines, one sometimes wishes for a simple accessory gimmick aside from 'guns link back to back'.
Assortment prices really hamper sales cos of the whole varying sizes but same price issue. Stuff like Gunpla prices things by kit. So a standard Zaku II is £8 while something like the Nightingale is almost £37 despite both being in the same line. Granted this is retail prices, not Amazon/eBay resellers.

Could you blu-tack an extra bit onto the chest peg and see if that helps the chest stay? That way you could figure out if the peg is too short or if the side tabs are the issue.
Good review! This looks like a very nicely made deluxe+. I wouldn't go so far to say it's as big as a full-fledged voyager like reactivate optimus or something like that. It reminds more of a deluxe+. I would like one of these, but for any more than $25-ish I'd pass. The chest not pegging in is concerning. If that issue is widespread, it becomes a $10 purchase to me - gotta be well-made or it's pure clearance to me.

So far I have the two leader triple changers that are out and do plan to get this one as well even if price point is not the best I do enjoy the figures and your honest review helped me decide fully. I do hope the rest of the triple changers get new figures cause I would enjoy an octane and broadside and a new springer as well
I'm pretty sure the tires are actually rubber. I was very surprised, mine had a stuck wheel and it was just because the tire was off the track

Really, despite all the excellence of the WFC and Legacy toylines, one sometimes wishes for a simple accessory gimmick aside from 'guns link back to back'.

I ordered this guy, the Galaxy Starscream, and Infernac Shard off of the Hasbro store.
Assortment prices really hamper sales cos of the whole varying sizes but same price issue.
Stuff like Gunpla prices things by kit. So a standard Zaku II is £8 while something like the Nightingale is almost £37 despite both being in the same line. Granted this is retail prices, not Amazon/eBay resellers.
To be fair tho, I don't think that comparison works because the nightingale is huge and if it costed the same amount as a Zaku 2 it'd probably suck.

What i meant was how both Zaku and Nightingale were from the same line but had different prices.
In retrospect it's more like if the TF Studio Series didn't have classes at all, just everything in the same line.

Notice the new sound effects in the vid, I dig it- If you can add in different sound effects rather then just using the woosh it be a nice change!
Could you blu-tack an extra bit onto the chest peg and see if that helps the chest stay? That way you could figure out if the peg is too short or if the side tabs are the issue.
Good review! This looks like a very nicely made deluxe+. I wouldn't go so far to say it's as big as a full-fledged voyager like reactivate optimus or something like that. It reminds more of a deluxe+. I would like one of these, but for any more than $25-ish I'd pass. The chest not pegging in is concerning. If that issue is widespread, it becomes a $10 purchase to me - gotta be well-made or it's pure clearance to me.
