Wow thank you for putting these videos out there. For me It's been a real pleasure listening to your impressions of the various Rega turntables, and it's rekindled my prior love for analogue reproduction, but for me and in particular your music selections have help me discover a whole new love for the genre of music that you selected. I've always dismissed jazz type music as just demo material but listening more closer I have started to appreciate the interplay that exists and the way the artists play off each other and also compliment themselves too.. Looking forward to watching more of your reviews. Thanks man.
Thanks, Darren! I hope to share more as I put out more videos. My recent purchase was a Yusef Lateef album titled “ live “ Germany oct 20, 1971. It’s amazing. Check it out!
Another thumbs up from me Rohit - nice presentation well done sir, these turntables (P8 & 10) are truly high-end for not "totally outrageous" prices - not in the u.k anyways!
Thank you for the excellent review !!! I think some audiophiles do not pay attention to the P10 due to its "low" price ( comparing to others high end turntables ) and its appearence ( it does not weight 10tons , you can't use it as a mirror to comb your hair and it does not look like an spaceship )....For sure there are some preconceptions against Regas....these guys should listen to the P10....I am sure they would be shocked by the performance level you can get from this turntable that in some areas can not be achieved by any other turntable ( believe me ).
I completely agree. Quite a number of audiophiles really believe only heavy turntables can deliver high performance. The P8 and P10 need to heard and then watching the disbelief in those people’s faces is also entertaining 😂.
Thanks for doing another excellent review on the P10, this time with the Hana. Once again, while listening to the description of your impressions I felt transported to your listening room, as if I could hear the music for myself! You have great descriptive abilities indeed. I think the P10 does step out of the way to show the capabilities of any good cartridge. Did you use the Rega 2mm spacer or a non Rega one?
Thanks for these videos. You’re one of the reasons I bought the P10! I had the HANA ML on my last deck and opted for the Apheta 3 package on the P10. Now would like to reinstall the HANA ML. I think it’s the same body as the SH? Did you have to add any shims to the tonearm pivot, or did you just run it ‘tail down’ please? Many thanks
Excellent review. The only mc cartridge I have is audio technica atf2 and I use it on my clearaudio concept. Do you think upgrading to hana sh will make a sound difference.
Thank you! The ATF2 is an outstanding value in MC carts. It does come with an elliptical stylus whereas the Hana SH comes with Shibata. While I have not heard the ATF2, I suspect the Hanas with Shibata will make a sonic improvement. But it also depends on your setup. What TT are you using?
@@analogholic_reviews My turntable is clearaudio concept. My phono pre is limetree. My amp is Sugden 21 . I like a lot of midrange punch. Not a big fan of bass and trebble. Thanks again for your advice.
@@saugghos Wow! sounds like a sweet setup! You will likely love the Hana's presentation if you like mids. Just give it at least 50 to 60 hours of playtime before you make any conclusions though. At least that was my experience.
Great review! I have a Rega P8 with the Hana MH Cartridge. I only have 25 hrs on the table if that. As the MH is of the same design as the SH I am glad to know I should give it many more hours before the final sound character can be defined. I also want to play with the settings on my Moon 110LP V2, I am currently 100pf on capacitance (choices are 0,100,330,430pf) and 47kohm on resistance (choices are 10ohm,100ohm, 475ohm, 47kohm). Any suggestions are appreciated! I am a new subscriber, keep up the great content ;)
Thanks for the comment F1fletch! You can increase capacitance but IMHO the impact of capacitance increase would be more audible on higher output MMs than on MCs even tho it is high output. But generally increasing capacitance loading would increase peak response in mid treble region and at the same time have a steeper roll off. Giving the impression of clarity when in fact it is brightness. I would play with gain instead and go up to 50db or even 54db depending on rest of your system. Also, give it another 25 hours at least.
My ears agree with what you have said, although with gain it’s strange. I find the “smoothest” sound to be 40db but 50db matches more with other music sources and I don’t have to turn it up as loud. The perception of surface noise etc seems to go up a lot at 50db. Of course it’s raising the volume but also has a lower s/n ratio with 40 being the highest. Right now I believe my Pre-amp is my weakest link and will upgrade when possible.
Yes, there are quite a few VTA/Azimuth tools you can buy online that allow you to visually measure the impact to VTA by using shims. Combine that with a headset mounted magnifying glass and light to make this easy.
The Hana ML is spec’d with Al cant as well. Perhaps the boron is an aftermarket retip? Only the Umami seems to come from factory with Boron per the published specs.

Very much enjoy your insights. Probably because you have a love for music so a musicphile more than an audiophile.

Hi Eric, I used the 2mm Rega spacer that requires removal of tonearm. I am thinking of getting the acoustic VTA spacer set as well!
I love your reviews. I wish you would comment on the E series, more in my budget.

No I believe it's beryllium cantilever
Hi John, the Hana SH cantilever material is aluminum.

Hi, thanks for your review! And I would like to hear your opinion about the inability of REGA for VTA adjusting of big caartridge?
I'd like to know"who told you that a Rega tonearm can't be adjusted via v.t.a"?
Mine can and is "currently adjusted by about 5mm"!!!
All Rega "RB" Tonearms can be v.t.a adjusted.
