U know guys...if you drop that platter, it's the same price as it cost to produce the P8 (just saying) ;-) It's better to use gloves when handling the platter, as dirty fingers can cause dirty prints on the surface. I'm always sitting on the edge, when watching these un-boxing vd's, as i tend to see some not very good handling with expensive gears. But you got it fairly ok, without me getting all stressed up. I'm the proud owner of the P8/Apheta II combo, but there is no doubt about it, that the P10 is gonna be my end-game TT someday. What an magnificent achievement from Rega (once again). Just think about how they kept the price tag the same as the previous model (P8), but came up with a whole other beast. Some even claims that the newer P8 is better than the older RP10, so there you have it. BTW, i owned the RP8/Ania combo, before swapping it out for my current P8/Apheta II combo, and i tell you guys....it is night/day in comparison. What a treat this TT is for it's asked price. Cheers from Denmark
Great insights. I definitely thought about putting my nitrile gloves on. But honestly I am a automotive detailer and know when handling certain equipment for the first time it’s best to use no gloves to be familiar with the texture and feel for when you do wear gloves. Just a personal opinion, everyone will have theirs. That said like you mentioned it’s an amazing turntable and the P8 is also amazing, I never heard the Apheta, but did get to do the II to III and it was amazing as well. Thanks for the comment!
Mine arrived three days ago and it is amazing! It came mounted with an Apheta 3 cartridge, and there’s a small leaflet that says to put the stylus guard after every use. I’m a bit wary of this, I think it’s too risky to do on a daily basis. What do you think?
Personally, we don’t put the stylus guard on after every use, but we have a very secure environment. We think you should be fine either way you choose to go.
Lovely video guys but that dust cover is really not going to keep out dust are there any options to add a full dust cover like an outside frame with the old p10 ?
After over a year of having it, the dust cover has performed nicely. That said I can see how a full acrylic cover over the whole P10 might be appealing for certain curious prone homes.
@@cambodianvintagemusicarchi9524 spend like 10 dollars and get an anti skate blank disc. I have my force at 1.95 and mines set between line 1 and 2 of the anti skate. You can also use blank cd to test. Check out UA-cam videos
At this price point and the level of precision engineering this masterpiece ought to be triple boxed as a minimum! 😉 Double boxing is a disappointment 😂. Enjoyed the unboxing.
the tonearm is connected to the motor! and this is good! while others are not connected! and this is good! a table made of plastic, composite, cast iron and wood - it all sounds equally good! what a freakin' bullshit?
Ooooo.... Ahhhh, quite frankly this video may cause problems with my marriage 😱😭🤣
😂
Ha ha ha ha ha!
I am still amazed at the resurgence of vinyl .
Keeps growing and growing.
The enthusiasm is very contagious !!! Well done !
When I upgraded to the 10 it was also from a 20 year old P3 2000. Few brands command such loyalty. The ultimate pandemic purchase IMO.
The ultimate pandemic purchase! Hilarious, but could not agree more.
We are still loving ours at the shop and now have one with an aphelion 2 and wow. We will be posting a video about that soon. Congrats on yours!
Pure loyalty to the REGA brand!
Defiantly need to visit your store.
Can’t wait to have you!
Always fun to watch your enthusiasm when you do these videos. Keep them coming!
More in store!
When someone just loves his job ❤️
Well done guys, awesome unboxing!
What job!? ;)

Love getting audiophiles in the comments. Cheers.
Infectious enthusiasm ... thanks guys 🤩 👊🏼
No, thank you! We will keep trying.
Great video guys just love your unboxing technique.
The “struggling” technique.
Coming from a p3, this will destroy that. Dudes gonna be blown away. Needs the alpheta 3 at least though
He was blown away. He’s slowly upgrading. Guys building a mean setup.
He has an Ania Pro which has performed well, I think he needs to jump to an aphelion 2 😊

Cats love stylus it a dust cover issue.
Your enthusiasm is contagious...makes me want to unbox a P10 myself (the wife isn't looking over my shoulder, is she?)
The wife will come around to it once she see it in action.
The P10 is simply amazing. As for wife acceptance factor, don’t ask me, my wife lets me run a hifi store! 🤣😅
Lovely video guys but that dust cover is really not going to keep out dust are there any options to add a full dust cover like an outside frame with the old p10 ?
The Planar 8 and Planar 10 both use this new style of dust cover. It does an admiral job. No first party solutions at this time.

So they pick up records with their hands on the grooves? Aren't skin oils not good for keeping vinyl clean? Why are the handling the felt matt?
Cause we are the reckless bad boys of Hi-Fi.
It’s all fine, you can touch vinyl and you can touch the mat. A year later I can confirm all is OK! 😅
I am not sure about the anti skat, what should I do? I set the tracking force at 2.g
use the tracking force recommend for the cartridge if unsure.
@@Dreamonoids it is 2.0g but I am talking about the anti skate, how do I set the anti skate to 2 cuz there isn't a number written on it.

Why no Recess in the platter for the record label?
It’s on felt. Really no need.

It was triple boxed-we just removed the ugly exterior box prior to the video to get to the retail shell.
It’s definitely packed well!
Thats the type of turntable your dog will pick up, and try to return to you
That’s a dog with great taste.
$6,000 turntable . Zero studio lights
Hey hey we have 3 actually-we just suck at production .
omg lol Go EAT!
You buying?
Wow you let him hold the platter that was kind of you it was all me me me get off get your own to unbox poor video

Aye-curumba!
This may sound Incredible but it’s So Ugly I’d never want this on my stereo cabinet 😆 🤮
Yeah, it would make everything else look bad. Completely understand.
Lets check back in a couple of years when you catch up lol
A year later the P10 is still looking great!
