What dB of gain do you think is necessary for the Aphelion 2. I’ve been using the Sutherland Insight and I’m wondering if the 60dB top setting will be enough for that cartridge.
I think it depends on the cartridge you mount on the P10. If using Aphelion, the Aura may be the best designed. I use a Koetsu black or Dynavector xx2mkii / 20x2L with a Manley Chinook and I love it.
@@cynthiakis1731 I have the p10 with the Apheta 3 and the Aria is amazing in itself. I can't justify spending $7000 for the aura. Not sure what you are using but the Aria is pretty incredible and I love that its the same size and shape as the external power source.
None needed with Rega arm AND cartridge. With Rega’s three point mounting, there is no way or need to adjust the front/back position of the cartridge on the tone arm.
@@mikechivy Koetsu’s have their own sound quite different to Rega. Also Koetsu’s need to be in a heavy arm like a Fidelity Research or an Ikeda, otherwise you just aren’t hearing what the Koetsu can do. Medium mass Rega arms are a very poor mechanical match for a Koetsu.
You can always get a slightly heavier aftermarket counterweight like one fro Expressimo Audio to achieve this balance. I use a 120g half-moon drop down weight on my RB3000 (on a different deck), for my Lyra Etna Lambda. A big improvement over the standard 120g tungsten weight - I suggest you try it out,
Love your enthusiasm for vinyl & music. Rega does it for me too.
I would love to see a video of your process for setting up a new cartridge. Tracking, overhang, azimuth, vta... Another great video!
Great suggestion!
Brilliant content. Use the P8 / Excalibur gold with Aria mk3 & elicit-r. Lots of fun.
Great INFO ! Thanks so much !

Did you adjust the vta to match the Koetsu Black?
I have P10 with Aphelion 2 Aura phono fantastic
What phono stage did you use?
A few … Manley Chinook, Whest 3 signature
@@analogholic_reviews Cool. Thanks.
Excellent review I am buying one myself..
This Aphelion2 will be my next carton my P10 after my Apheta3 worns out.
What platform do you have your P10 sitting on. Mine is on a 3” maple block but I know I can do better.
Mine is sitting atop of an auralex isolation platform, which is on an inexpensive pangea Vulcan rack.
What phono stage best for P10

I would love to hear your thoughts on the apheta with the chinook. I’m currently using the aria and ready for a move.

@@jkwhtsll Thanks, that would also take care of the azimuth?
Nice!
A Koetsu cartridge needs a much heavier arm than a Rega for a good mechanical match.
Regardless it’s 1/2 the price and can’t compete to the Aphelion. In that price range it’s not being asked to though

A Hana is better than the rega cart 👍 thank me later
Hana's are overrated.
@@LetThereBeSound1not for the price- world class
@@andybona3205 I disagree. Give me an Audio-Technica all day long over any Hana. The hype is way bigger than the reality.
