These girls need to record an album together, pretty damn quick. No instruments, just voice. Exquisite.

Your grandmother was an amazing singer and my father and grandfather used to play her records when I was a kid, I've always thought of her when hearing Lisa O'Neill sing especially when playing the banjo..

@@eugenebarry6317 I'm guessing she was the lady who did "what will we do when we have no money who is mentioned underneath a few of the videos?" I heard Radie do a version of it and that's where I first read about your grandmother in the comments there - they led me a full album that was uploaded by a fella in response to a comment from yourself of one of your siblings/cousins. What a gift the internet is that it has allowed me to find out about your grandmother, read a few personal stories from her children's children and experience her wonderfully raw, beautiful voice all these years later. The type of folk music she sings and her unique style of singing touches me deeply and is always the first thing that comes to mind when I think of music and art that truly represents the working classes. It was a privilege to listen to her and I'm glad we have the likes of Lisa and Radie carrying the torch today still singing spine chillingly haunting ballads new and old.

I listened to the Bothy Band version. It was very very ... traditional - but compared to this... emotionless, if not boring. Like going to a classical concert to listen to never changing interpretations of Mozart et.al. all over again "because they're playing it correctly". Top notch musicians afraid of change ? Please, spare me the boredom of musicians reading sheet music like it's the gospel. As a listener I require to be challenged in the manner that the musicians like me to be.
I'm an adult capable of making my own decisions considering musical taste, I don't want to be fed the same liverwurst over and over, "because it's correct".
