I have a vent box that's recessed behind my dryer and I bought the MagVent and it works great. My dryer for the first time is totally pushed back up against the wall, best value for the money and gave me more floor space in the laundry room .
While you’re at it you better repair that dryer cable that’s hanging out of the connector on the back of the dryer. The inner conductors are exposed. (1:03)😊
These are great! Very useful. Keep in mind, though.... HD dryers have a sensor telling the machine if the air flow is slow in exiting. This will cause the temp to go down as a precaution. I got a new house with an HD. I put one of these vents on the back, as with all of my previous dryers. Eventually I noticed that the dryer wasn't getting very hot. Finally, after taking 2 hours to dry a load of towels.... I called a repairman. he told me that there is an air flow sensor in most HD units. Mine sensed a slower flow due to the sharp turn, and automatically lowered the temp. He put a normal vent tube on it and I had my hot air back! it is not a danger with the air flow, while using the unit shown in the video. It's the high tech idiots who have to add all the BS on the new appliances. So if your temp goes down a bit after installing one, take it off, put a normal one on (with dryer pulled away from wall) and see if there's a difference... before calling a $100/visit from repairman.
I like the magnet idea. I had this situation with my dryer and I moved the vent opening on the dryer to the side of the dryer instead of the back. Was super easy to do on my unit.
I used this connector in my recent laundry renovation. Certainly not cheap but it is easy to install, works really well and will minimize lint buildup. A great product!!
Dude are you fricking kidding me...that is sooooo slick and I want one !!!! Hooked it up. Didn't even know it existed before I saw your video, so thank you. My bunched up hose was getting clogged up constantly and burned out my heater coil. Hopefully this will put an end to that!
Nice upgrade. Also the snake of extra tubing has a habbit of slowing down the exhaust and collecting a whole bunch of lint. Then you start noticing that the clothes take a lot longer to dry burning up electricity. This is what I experienced with my setup. I will do this upgrade in the near future.
Thank you for this video. This solves my problem. I'm redoing my laundry room and I was trying to figure out what else can I do besides using that old foil tubing. Awesome.
Took me about 30 seconds of video to buy one of these. The wall mount goes first at dryer height then you decide path out. For years I’ve had a scary mix of periscope and flex running up and back down to similar location to yours. This ends leaks, fear and dries better I’m sure and is not ugly. Thanks
I did this using traditional solid dryer ducting. I just made sure the dryer exhaust perfectly lined up with the drier duct coming out of the wall. Then I carefully slid the dryver back until it was fully connected.
@@jameslastname9171 No, you’re supposed to do it twice each year but most homeowners don’t. They go years without cleaning it, which usually isn’t that big of a deal with the old style. Once you start putting in right angles though, that changes things drastically.
This is a great idea and I'll probably get one of these. But I do want to mention that whoever owned that dryer was not doing annual duct cleaning because that was a whole lot more than a Year's worth of Lent and that ductwork and the way they ran it, it was just a fire waiting to happen. That new vent system you installed will also make it extremely easy to clean it using the cleaning kits that are available to clean with the dryer in place.
I used a similar hookup back in 2007 in my new house except it didn’t use any magnets and no extra duct had to be purchased. The flat duct could be slid back and forth to align the it with the dryer outlet. It’s still working fine.
Installed one of these vents about a month ago. It was relatively simple. I did have to make a box to space it from the wall to give me a straight shot to the exit. After running the first load, the first thing I noticed was that I no longer need to run the dryer two cycles to get blue jeans dry. I am sure that this will have a possitive impact on my electric bill. I was also able to use rigid vent pipe rather than a tangle of flex duct. The smooth interior surface doesn't collect lint nearly as fast as the flex due to the reduction of turbulencent within the duct. The magnet that connects the dryer to the vent makes pullin out and putting back the dryer so easy. Ingegenious idea that relly works. While I had the dryer pulled out I decided to take the back off and clean out the lint trap. It wasn't bad but I found the seal between the lint trap and the blower fan had deteriorated so I ordered a new one and installed it. Other than that, I found nothing else that needed attention. This is a high quality product. The metal isn't flimsy and the design is well engineered. The $68.00 price will pay for itself in a month from the reduced electric bill. Thanks for the heads up on this product.
I like the idea of this dryer connection. I, myself would try to eliminate the flex hose because it looks like it makes the dryer stick farther out from the wall by about 4-5".
Great video - I think the 180 will work for me, but with a bit more hose. You have so much space to work in and your knees aren't ancient :) Thanks again!
That sharp 90 degree bend will affect air flow especially if you happen to have a long vent pipe run to outside wall. But I can see how in certain situations it would be a good choice. I would like to know if the magnetic connection has different designs to choose from.

When it comes to dryer venting, if it isn't creating a problem, don't touch it, and if the dryer is in an accessible location, don't bother with trying to change the venting. The only reason I would use a magnetic coupling like this is if the dryer is not accessible for service (like squeezed between a wall on the left and a cabinet on the right) and you can't get your hands in to connect venting otherwise.

I do think it’s a nice concept, and for most of the video I thought it would be all around better… but that turn is really tight. That’s a very short 90 to have, but it is also much easier maintaining later on so there’s pros and cons. Overall that’s much better than the flimsy trash.
Great Product. Nice install job , You left one step out , you should of clean and caulk around where the vent stubs out from wall , 5 min fix , make it look professional !
They look nice and that magnetic attachment looks like a great idea however the 90 degree redirect is an airflow obstruction. You will be needing to clean that out more than usual. Ascetically it's beautiful however mechanically it's not as functional.
Never used anything like this before. But then I never loved anywhere long enough with in unit laundry that it would have made a difference. (I have just set a new record for the longest I have kept one address - 4 years - and the laundry is right next to my apartment - a 20 foot walk.)
I understand that show and tell gets a bit tricky on videos like this, but in this case, the existing out adapter at the dryer may already be the best option. Maybe cut down the flex hose a foot or so and route more direct instead of the loop.
Thanks for introducing me to this product. I rent and install my own laundry units, so this is something I will consider, particularly when my appliances are in tight spaces to ensure exhaust vents are tight.
My challenge is adapting this Magvent system to a wall vent that is approximately 4.5 feet above the floor. Question: Can you have the wall attachment (near the floor) rotated so that the exhaust portion points about 45 degrees up? Other ideas? Thanks for a great lesson.

that initial 90 degree turn it makes will need you to clean it out about every 6 months. But hey at least it "looks good" behind a dryer........................
This is great. I always use the back sides of a dryer, there usually are 1 knock out on each side. I try to put the dryer on the side of the vent. I then take out the 4" knock out and run the vent from inside the dryer. This forms a elbow on the inside of the dryer shooting out toward the direction of the outside vent. I then change the gas piping so it can have the dryer position in the back within 2" or less to the back wall. I prefer front load washers with this set up so we can install a work space top on the top of the set for work projects that always come up.
What a cool product. If only It had a little bit of gasketing it could probably be used for gas. Biggest trouble with drivers there's supposed to be originally connected but that requires everything is installed in a standard manner which is not the case.
Question. Do all types/brand of dryers's exhaust located in the same spot? Reason for the question is what if I need to buy a different brand dryer which means the vent tube will need to be relocated.
@@robmcguckin7605completely agree however his distance is so short that it has great airflow volume right there that will help prevent it longer. Turns farthest from the dryer are the worst.
FTH.....good job..... but will the magnetic coupling hold a seal in all condition ? Doesn't magnetic add to the static charge that can and does accumulate? Very generous thanks for sharing
Thank you. I need to do something because what I have right now is not working. I have a lot of hose because I have to get enough hose so when I pull out the dryer I need extra long hose.
Since the bend is 90 degree, is there any issue with the flow? Transitional pipe designs calls for bend of 2 times the diameter of the pipe being bent.
Why? This is not a upgrade actually, the initial 90 degree turn this thing makes is horrible and restricts air flow. More clean up for you and you buying a new dryer more frequently. Just because something "looks good" doesn't make it good.
You might be increasing friction with right angles. Sure, it looks better, but does it vent better? 45 degrees and curved is better than 90 degrees, but I’m mixed on this. Interesting approach nonetheless. Thanks!
What do you suggest for dryer exhausts that go up through the attic and roof? Old 1995 house and trying to find an economical way to fix my dryer venting setup. I don't think this magvent would work in my case?
Looks great but I'm more concerned about how well it works. I can't see how nice it is when it's hidden behind the dryer. But that right angle is sharp and restrictive, probably going to cause problems down the road with newer dryers that sense airflow restrictions then they shut the heat down causing the loads to take longer to dry.

FTH.....good job..... but will the magnetic coupling hold a seal in all condition ? Doesn't magnetic add to the static charge that can and does accumulate? Very generous thanks for sharing
Wish I had watched this (and ordred the Magvent) before I struggled to connect my dryer vent last night
Thank you. I need to do something because what I have right now is not working. I have a lot of hose because I have to get enough hose so when I pull out the dryer I need extra long hose.
Definitely going to buy this one
this product really looked good
Thank you! It does look good! 👍🏽😊
Its behind the dryer? Nobody see's it?
I prefer to blow out the lint with a leaf blower..... easy and fast!
Since the bend is 90 degree, is there any issue with the flow? Transitional pipe designs calls for bend of 2 times the diameter of the pipe being bent.
It looks awesome. Great job!!
I'm about to do something similar. To minimize the gap between dryer and the wall, can I cut in to the drywall?
Love it I’m a woman by herself. This is great for me.
I’m glad I could be of help! 🙏🏽😊
Great video! I'm definitely upgrading my inside and external vents!
Thanks!
Try repairing the power cord connection. That clamp should be pinching the outer jacket, not the conductors themselves. Then move on to dryer vents.
for cats and mice
What do you recommend for a stack-able washer / dryer combo with the dryer on top?
Excellent, sold, thanks. Been wanting to upgrade this.
Thank you my friend! Glad I could be of help! 🙏🏽😊
@@FixThisHouse YOu are aware that you are selling a device that is a code violation in 95% of homes and apartments??
What do you suggest for dryer exhausts that go up through the attic and roof? Old 1995 house and trying to find an economical way to fix my dryer venting setup. I don't think this magvent would work in my case?
Freaking brilliant! Thank you for sharing!!
I like it will greatly help in the service of your dryer if needed. As a service tech awesome.
IF you were a real service tech you would know that these create a code violation in 90% of the places they are installed.
@@benburnett8109 not a code violation in my area. And yes I’m a REAL SERVICE TECH smart ass.
Amazing! I'm going to do that to my dryer!
Can you use this product when the dryer outlet is above the dryer. Or is there a product for a different set up? Thank you 🙏🏾
Got one of thees Magvents and I love it.
