I can’t even fly a downloaded plane and this guy build this, ok i give up
I cant download a plane!!
@Jörge Cabäçaa:
Me too 😅
I know I am a little bit late, but don´t give up, once I had the same problems, but now I am flying my own planes to orbit and back multiple times without refueling. Ok this spesific plane is rather a hypersonic cruise missile than a plane and it won´t land fully fueled, well at least it won´t be much left of it afterwards and even with 2/3 of it´s fuel remaining it tuches down at about 220 m/s. Oh and it would stall below mach 1, but a stall needs lifting surfaces. That is the only way to reach an angle of attack of 25 degrees wich is necessary for landing the crus... ähh, plane. Here at ApolloAerospace, we build our crafts so ludicrous that no rapit unscedueled disassembly is brave enough to come even close.
man this last mission I really wanted to land my plane, so I had to wait hours just to come down at ~50-60m/s across half of kerbin so it wouldn’t break, pretty intense (there were 4 sites so I couldn’t use a rocket)
Jörge, the learning curve is the fun thing about KSP. While you're learning to fly planes, keep laughing about your mistakes and if necessary use this to cheer yourself up: for the first two weeks of playing KSP, I had no clue what the SAS is (or rather that there is something like SAS) or that there are symmetry settings when building stuff. Things were more fun back then...
This is actually one of the better explanations of a gearbox on UA-cam. It is extraordinarily clear.
I love how each gear on the shifter mechanism is marked with dice-dots. Nice touch!
yeah, I think that I ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND how they work now... I've never been able to wrap my head around them and I generally understand complex systems pretty quickly.
@@gildedbear5355 You've got to do an automatic now!
I'm actually halfway serious, but I believe that representing the hydraulics would be nigh impossible in KSP. Anyway, I've subscribed, you've got some great stuff already. Thank you!
@@dotancohen -- A hydrolic automatic? Do you mean CVT, or is there a type of fixed gearbox that uses hydrolics?
@@TlalocTemporalNoo… Most automatic transmissions use hydraulics to apply multiple clutches simultaneously to achieve a single "gear". Through the use of multiple planetary gearsets an automatic transmission can achieve many gear ratios.
The most common was a 3-4 speed up until the early/mid 2000s where 6 speeds became common. Most recently we're up to 8, 9, and 10 speed automatic gearboxes without much of an increase in package size.
@@TlalocTemporal certified mechanic here, yes in short autos use hydraulic pressure from an internal oil pump to operate the gear shifts
almost all automatics use hydraulics for changing gears, some rare cases may use air or electronics to change gears, but these are normally what one might call 'automatically controlled manual gearboxes' where they operate nearly identically to a manual gearbox just with a computer controlling the gear shifts, not to be confused with a DCT 'dual clutch transmission' which is like two gearboxes in one (two input shafts one for odd numbered gears, one for even, and the dual clutches operate each input separately allowing the engine to pre-select a gear and just switch the engaged clutch to change over input shafts) unlike those examples a auto is packed with clutches and uses the clutch packs to engage separate gear ratios and in fact in most cases will 'slip' the clutches of one gear while engaging another so the transition is smoother between gears, to accomplish this the gearbox has an oil pump and either electronically or (in very old cases) mechanically controlled valves to press the clutches in the clutch packs, hence why auto gearbox use a hydraulic grade oil as both a lubrication and for their hydraulics
of course I'm not exactly an authority on all things gearbox related, and I could be heavily mistaken, I am after all a performance engine builder and not a gearbox builder, and 99% of my work is too build a engine for a manual gearbox (and that 1% normally has prebuilt gearbox sitting, I just have to mount it) so if someone wants to correct me on something be my guest
Dude, I got a midterm on Manual Transmissions this weekend and this is the best visual representation of the basic principals I’ve seen. In a spaceflight simulator...
i guess but its an sandbox game after all..
KSP version of gearbox animation is easier to understand then the normal 3D one since the presentation is much cleaner.
I can't believe the physics engine can deal with this!
Amazing build!
This man doesn’t have a computer, he has a molten brick now
Imagine having to think about all those rotating parts !

i have both dlcs
Minecraft Delisi Berke oh that’s cool but I don’t remember asking
I think my radar is broken cuz I can't find who asked
And yet that's exactly what's sitting in every car. Pretty impressive what we came up with over a hundred years ago.
Imagine having to think...
The new video is almost ready! It remains to wait 1 week. New video about SUBMARINE!

Ksp PTSD here too
If I ever need to explain to someone how a manual trans works in the future, I think I'll just use this video. This is phenomenal!
What if.. you built a plane with this? Ha ha, just kidding. Unless?
Ah yes, a plane with 5 speed manual 😂
@@stalincat2457 XDDDDDDDD ah yes
@@stalincat2457 Like the one in Airplane. God I love that movie.
submit it to hazard-ish.... sorry gordon lol
or a turboprop plane without using the default turboprop engines
Gordon is a KSP God along with Scott Manly.
thq
This man is on a whole new level dude, I haven't seen crazy stuff like this ever before...
fucking impressive...
Don't forget about stratzenblitz
And don’t forget about Robbaz and Matt Lowne
Stratzenblitz and Bradley Whistance and Gordon are KSP Gods. Scott Manley and Matt Lowne are entertaining but their KSP skills and effort are average.
Me: just landed 2 crews missions on the moon after sending there 2 rovers, 6 impacters and 4 drone lander after 8 months.
Him: let's build a gearbox
I just use my duna landers to go to the mun and minmus now. And i can (with some difficulty) land and come back from duna. Anything beyond that is hard tho. I just recently landed a probe on eve and laythe, but i dont think that i will ever be able to send kerbals there and have them come back. Getting there? Easy. Landing? Trivial. Getting back? Fucking impoasible
It's a bit brilliant, it's more GROUNDBREAKING!
This actually made me understand how a gearbox works. That's an insane piece of work you've made there!
My brain still doesn’t accept this. Nope. Gearboxes are black magic.
Yeah what the hell are those things that slide in and latch on to the gears? How do they put power into the propeller? So confusing.
Furd Derguson engine, if u think about it is simple i dont even play the game
Be glad he didn't make it an automatic then.
DirtyBlastard Ya lol
@@Nae_Ayy The sliding parts are fixed onto the output shaft. The gears they latch on to are free spinning around the same shaft. What part in KSP exactly? I'm not sure, maybe a free spinning rotor with liberal use of the offset tool?
This is actually the clearest explanation I've ever seen.
this actually helped me understand how the shifting stick in my car works,
I finally actually understand gearboxes. I had most of the principles down. Big gear to small gear gets you high speed small gear to big gear gets you torque. But I never really got how all the mechanics came together. AMAZING!
The maximum of what I was able to understand was a 4 gears gearbox. Now I understand how this one works!
Suggestion: How it works - Planetary Gearbox
That one is pure wizardry
I never had any idea on how a gearbox worked before this. This is actually very helpful
I've never been able to really understand a standard 5-gear manual gearbox before no matter how many diagrams or videos I watched, and a ****ing KSP video made it crystal clear.
i'll be honest, i tried to learn how gearboxes worked and every video was overcomplicated or not enough explained. Yours is the best explanation so far and i understand it now
How come I can learn how a gearbox works from a game where I'm supposed to land on the moon.
If i was a mechanics teacher, I would use this video to explain how gearboxes work!
Wow, I have no words, amazing work!
AYYY SPACEGUY

When I got a simple straight 4 piston engine working a few years ago I felt like a genius but with this you have blown anything I’ve ever made out of the water.
This is incredible... Explanation is super uber clear!
This is freaking incredible dude! Amazing job!
Просто титаническая работа, заслуживающая миллионы просмотров и лайков
Best demonstration of a gearbox working. Ever.
Thanks for the starbound music it brought back memories. I play that game an absurd amount.
I believe this is the FIRST EVER PROPELLER WITH A GEARBOX!
This is fantastic, excellent work man
I saw a rough one on the sub a few months ago and can’t believe it works so well
I’ve been away from ksp for a year now and this is what I come back to!!
I just today found you on YT and I'm sad it wasn't sooner. I started with the under sea base, and now this? Good job man!
That subnautica crossover probably doubled his viewership, same here haha
Thanks for this. Im a ksp player and i also love real engineering stuff, finally youtube got something for me, some legit knowledge
Nice job. Sub earned for life. Kudos my dude.
Salute to this guy
He just taught it so well
Wow, that is actually amazing. This guy maxed out his patience stat.
Wow , in french we said , ça déchire !!! Great job
Its crazy how its your kerbal video that explain To me how an transmision work :p thx
Good god. That's incredible.
I bow to you sir/mam...you have my utmost respect ❤️🤤
I swear to god the KSP community is full of genius engineers!
Truly brilliant. No need for syncros either haha
Finally i can understand manual gearbox, time to wait for a automatic gearbox
This is amazing
FUCK YES! TOOK ME ALOT OF TIME TO FIND OUT HOW GEARBOX WORKS BUT NOW I UNDERSTAND!!
ksp has come a long way, GEEZ WAIT A SEC THAT STUFF IS NOW STOCK ? CAN WE FINALLY HAVE SPACE STATIONS WITH ROTATING MID SECTIONS ?
Wow this literally taught me why reverse is so slow and why shifting to a lower gear slows you down
Thats the game all the engineering students would love to have 😻
MAGNIFICENT

Hey thats great. Now just need the synchronizer so you don’t grind the gears... but amazing creation
I finally understand
How is that 100 parts??! The teeth on the gears alone seems over 100?.... but that doesn’t take away from the amazing skill went into this presentation. I finally understand how a gear selector can work.

I can't even build a gravity ring without the whole ship spinning and you do this ;-;
wow!!
I can see why there is a clutch, but there are times I can't seem to see how the gearbox shafts slow down or stop to ensure the shift to the gear is in before the clutch reconnects to the drive gear.
I mean improper clutching and gesting is brutal the gear mesh teeth.
unbelivable!!!
Awesome 😭
This guy is ksp protige
2 things.
1. HOLY MOLY THAT SYNCHROMESH!
2. You forgot to explain the reverse gear. The reverse gear has 3 gears, 2 regular gears, and one idler/reverser gear that switches the output shafts direction.
