Legends Arceus is the only (and I mean ONLY) Pokémon game that has allowed me to complete the Pokedex without getting another game/console or having to find someone to trade. That in itself is enough reason to make it the best Pokémon game to date. That and the fact that I'd rather do 10 backflips each day for 30 days to evolve a pokemon than having to trade.
Yeah, at this point they only get away with 2 versions out of tradition because everyone's just accepted that that's how Pokemon is. Spin-offs like Colosseum, XD, and Arceus (and soon Z-A) prove that Pokemon very much can work with just one game instead of one game and then a 3% different game that a considerable amount of fans feel pressured into also buying.
@@Caroniver_Robocacci Trade evos. You need a second console and second copy of the game to evolve Pokemon that you can obtain in the game. Catching a Machop is like downloading a free-to-start game.
But only the bad they want to hear, same as with the good. Unless it fits their narrative they won't engage or click content. So their little bubble gets even more bias and that's all they will see making it even worse
I know its a meme, but the worst thing about Emerald IS too much water. Stephen got replaced by Wallace, Juan now runs the 8th gym, and you have Archie and Team Aqua to fight. So 3 of the big end game battles are against water specialists.
No, the worst part of Pokemon: Let's Go is the fact that you're restricted to *a single joy-con.* (And the Pokeball, but _nobody_ can afford that anymore.) No pro controller, no dual joy-con grip. You only get one. In tv mode. In handheld mode, you get to use the entire controller _and_ can actually aim by tilting the system. Why they didn't add an update or option to play like that with the pro controller, I'll never know. But that annoyance makes me not want to play as much. And Arceus help you if your joy-con starts drifting...
I've seen the Pokéball for around 20 bucks on ebay but they're used and thus no Mew. Seriously, what were they thinking of making one Mew per Pokéball and not one Mew per save file...
I don't even have joycons anymore I just have pro controllers and I can't play the game at all anymore. I'm not spending 80 dollars to play a mediocre at best game. Edit: this is the only game I've run into with this problem as well.
Yeah .. my switches joycon started to drift and since it's a switch lite I had to buy another switch item and a pro controller just so I could play my games again... All but let's go Eevee ....
I think my biggest problem with X and Y is how unfinished it feels like the world just feels so small, there's all these little things scattered around the map that feel like they're supposed to lead to something bigger (the mysterious ghost girl, the abandoned hotel, zygarde, the power plant door, the event mythicals, the 'chamber of emptiness' location which is nothing but a cave with a mega stone in it) and it's just not there there's hints and teases, but not much beyond the base story, and the post game is almost non-existent aside from the looker storyline and the extra town
The issue of Dexit isn't "not being able to catch every pokemon", that happened all the way back in RSE. It's that pokemon were outright removed from the underlying code and thus literally do not and can not exist in the game without modding. It also is the reason Pokemon Hostage (Home) and Pokemon Ransom (Bank) are such a big problem.
Why are you calling bank and home that, the only thing that makes sense is hacked and illegal pokemon. And spinda, but that's one pokemon (weak albeit). Bank has more an issue of having to log out and log in after everything. In no way are they hostage and ransom, never heard it that way either.
@@luniveonThe fact that you have to keep paying to keep them until they are available in a new game. If you transferred a living dex from Gen 7, a lot of them have been stuck in Home for years
@@MarshallLeeA And what ones are not available? I haven't heard any issue about Hoenn and home ever. If there still is an issue, I guess that's one thing, but I don't know many casual people who have a whole living dex from RSE.
@@luniveon The list of Pokemon trapped on Home is currently around 10: Spinda, Patrat and Watchog, the 3 elemental monkeys from Unova and their evolutions, and Furfrou. The list has slowly been whittled down, with each new major game release and dlc/expansion. Though I think the primary issue is not *always* being able to take out your favorite Pokemon from past games into the newest game. Up until Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, you theoretically could transfer almost any single Pokemon from as far back as Ruby and Sapphire to every other game in the same or later generations. If you had a team you really liked, you carry that team with you to every newest installment and use them in the Battle Frontier, Pokeathlon, Pokemon Contests, Battle Subway, online play, or whatever other new mode that game had with your old friends, but now.. unless your Pokemon happens to be supported by the latest game, they are trapped in the past, unless (or rather IF) a dlc/expansion comes out that adds support for that Pokemon. SV has had the greatest amount of Pokemon availability (compared to the number of total Pokemon) since USUM, with a total of 185 out of 1000+ Pokemon not allowed to exist in the game. Ideally, the next game would just support them all again, but that is doubtful.
That's still a stupid and whiny problem IMHO. I understand familarity but when you have a franchise with over 1,000 pokemon to choose from, forms and all, there will come a point where they can't bring everyone back and balance them to the latest generation rules and stuff. And while one could complain about having to pay for a service to keep your pokemon you might never use again in years, I'd argue it's better than losing your pokemon completely especially when you're not paying a lot of money for a yearly service.
I understood that complaint about the Alola games, but when I finally played SwSh a couple years after release, I was baffled that they have the exact same issue yet no one talks about it. Your journey of doing all the tough fights that leads to the elite 4 is constantly interrupted by an obnoxious brat that fancies himself your rival or something, as well as a female NPC who doesn't battle but wants you to go with them visiting historical sites that are somehow related to the legendary pokemon. ...which game did I just describe?
@@TheBlackMage9For real, sword and shield had a lot of dialogue and battle moments where I'm just spamming to get back on my own. I will say I was more into the USUM story and it didn't bother me.
@@luniveonyeah but the ultra wormhole riding completely makes up for that imo, great mini game that thanks to the boosted shiny odds and the ability to hunt all legendaries up to that point between the two games is even better.
The reason why I disliked BW back then is bc that is when they started shiny locking legendaries. These days, they shiny lock all legendaries, starters, mythicals, and gift Pokemon. They are turning a once free shiny hunt into a loot box shiny hunt in Pokemon Go.
Not just GO, they also wanted to cash on SwSh/BDSP sales where the legends are shiny locked. Btw if you'd ask me, being unable to rename Mystery gift pkmn is a bigger scam
@lucideirune1635 I understand you feeling about shiny hunt. Those I do not think major Pokémon players are shiny hunter like you. Those I think old players like me who been around gen 1 Pokémon. I would love to see the game have an option mode form easy to hard mode.

the worst thing the ultra games had wass the Bossfight Ultra Necrozma is the WEAKEST Legendary fight we've had. and thats saying something given he was HYPED UP all game only to hive him die turn ONE after listening to his music theme (brilliant theme btw) It's a shame he was piss easy, should have been a LOT HARDER a bossfight given the hype the games had for him.
I think Gen 7's biggest problem was the frickin' online... everything. That carnival looking thing that I forgot the name of. I lost track of how many times I tried to connect to a friend to trade or battle, with EVERYTHING setup right (game up to date, internet connection detected, etc.) and it just... wouldn't work. Period. Meanwhile, I'd pop in the aging Y or OmegaRuby and have no problems whatsoever. ...At least until they stopped paying attention to hacking and the whole Trade system got janky.
The Festival Plaza was pretty awful, I have no idea why they decided that splitting up the menus into physical, difficult to navigate stands was a good idea.
My Pokemon hot take: As a kid I never had the games until Black, I was always a fan of the anime and I had a bunch of the Pokédex books. I think forcing the new gen till post game was great. It highlighted the new pokemon more. Black being my first game, I didn’t want to go in knowing every single Pokemon
As someone who had played every game since gen 1, I agree - I liked the distinct feeling of the region and having to construct a team with all new Pokemon
Tbf he was obviously biased towards gens 3 and 4 - for him to struggle to find flaws with Emerald, DP or Platinum was just being nostalgia blind. I love all of the Pokemon generations, but none of them are perfect, and all have their own egregious flaws
Nah, Kanto and Johto have worse dexes. At least Sinnoh only had ONE specialist with only 2 possible team members that fit their type. Kanto had 2 with 1 each, and Johto had 3 with 2 each (and Morty and Lance didn't even get both Pokemon of their types!)
@@EricWalkerUk Kanto - Only 1 Ghost, only 1 Dragon, Ghost and Dragon specialists on the Elite Four. @herowither12354 true to be fair about ghost and dragon haha - btw I'm not saying gens 1 and 2 are the best anyway. Although I definitely wouldn't put DP on a pedestal either. When people like gen 4, it is because platinum and HGSS are so good.
The worst thing about Emerald is that it introduces so many mechanics in the Battle Frontier that works on background info that YOU the player have NO CLUE about and then proceeds to be tongue and cheek about explaining it to you in game. On top of that it goes out of it way to be outright tedious in the most unfun ways.
@@BusinessSkrub Looks like nullpoint's not the only one with lack of literacy. Never said you specifically, I said "people like you". Obviously, you as an individual are not that important 😆 They scrapped it because it sucked? If only the same logic applied to you 🤷
@@BusinessSkrub The thing is that by now, the games are _much_ better at explaining hidden mechanics (although they're still a bit cryptic about others) _and_ it's significantly easier to make competitive-ready Pokemon, _including_ the ones you've used during the game. You have Hyper Training to maximize IVs. You have Mints to change Natures. You have Mirror Herb to easily pass down Egg Moves without actually breeding a new lvl 1 mon. It's still somewhat tedious, but nowhere near as much as it used to be. Now yes, a lot of facilities in Battle Frontier weren't the best _(looking at you, Battle Palace :v),_ but I think the general idea is fine. Online battles sort of replaced it, but the two could easily co-exist. There's also the unfortunate issue of the ever decreasing attention span of people, which makes them less likely to engage with such a grindy part of the game. Another issue is the time required to create all those trainer teams for the facility, which could be problematic given the short development time the games have. *tl;dr the Battle Frontier would've been much more accesible nowdays, but the real life circumstances make it unlikely to come back*
I recognize the problems with GS/HGSS and objectively speaking I agree with your assessment of their worst qualities, but I have never forgiven the remakes for replacing Kris.
Honestly the worst thing about Gen 1 is probably the sprites. In terms of the technicals and glitches, it’s rough but it still works, but some of those old sprites are AWFUL.
Red and Blue sprites are pretty alright overall with a couple stinkers thrown into the mix, but the overwhelming majority of Red and Green's sprites are an affront to Arkoos and humanity
The worst thing for BW2 is the key system's requirement, you need TWO copies of B2 to start a game with Challenge mode, and that is terrible. If they introduced the key system, but removed that requirement, BW2 would be flawless games.
Like who in the world would set a difficulty setting as a version exclusive feature?. Also the Challenge mode is bugged too. The items are the only difficult part, the +5 Levels are Fake Levels(who have the same stats as the mons which are 5 levels below them in the regular mode) but give u Exp equal to the current fake level. There are yt videos explaining this bug & even Bulbapedia too
@@e94youtubeAnd it’s a postgame feature, which you need to sacrifice your save file to use! How have Nintendo not thought to have multiple save slots on a Pokémon cart?
100% watching the cutscenes for the first time, alright still not a huge fan but id give it a chance, but replaying them is kinda painfull with the amount of interruptions that happen... games would be sooo much better with a skip feature
Truth. Also, no matter what is going on, your avatar is smiling blankly. At least in 6th gen and 8th gen, your character REACTED. But nope, only in a handful of scenes does your avatar react in gen 7. It was SO frustrating. Like playing a robot.
Don't worry there are ppl who would defend this saying that it was a joke. This joke is outdated & they didn't give us Gengar via other methods like in SwSh. Poor Mindy she was unable to redeem herself. Then they've introduced Blossom who gave us a Gengar in SV

21:22 - from what I remember, there was a pokemon Z, or at least dual enhanced versions planned as shown in datamines from 2014 under the name CALOS_RESERVE (ID's 28 and 29), as much as Masuda says there was never plans for it. of course, that ended up getting scrapped. 21:50 - Sun and Moon do remind me of yokai watch, but mostly because of the concurrent anime's artstyle likely taking inspiration from it. 22:23 - this is made worse if you have an old 3DS model like most people did when Sun and Moon were new. double battles are honestly unplayable just because of how much they bog down the system. it's also apparent on those models because if you close out of the game, the system has to restart whereas that is not the case with New 3DS models. that, and the absurd amount of slow cutscenes that drag out don't help with that whatsoever.
She's still a villain there, just not the main one. She never got infected by Nihilego, but she still did lose her husband, so she's still crazy but not as crazy, and gets a hero complex instead
Forget Lusamine they ruined Lillie’s character arc. They removed her from several scenes (like the one where you go to the island to get the flute) so that she would be less relevant. And then, her big character development moment gets completely scrapped for a generic “I forgive you” situation so that you can fight a big dragon as the climax. Absolutely butchered the plot for me.
@@epicphantom589 nah the REAL worst part about this sequence is this the Final boss aka SAID Light Dragon at the end? Lusamine in the games this was a SEQUEL TO was a harder bossfight than the literall LIGHT DRAGON of Alola Ultra Necrosmas the most DISSAPOINTING legendary BY FAR, given how WEAK he is as this.
One problem with a lot of third versions is not including all the Pokémon, both Platinum AND Emerald suffer from this. Platinum removed the DP exclusives: Murkrow, Misdreavus, Stunky and Glameow (which is stupid that's 4 Gen 4 Pokémon families you've removed, WHY? and Emerald (which was not nearly as bad) Removed Roselia, Meditite and the already rare, and pretty useless Surskit. Really Meditite is the only one they removed I'd care about.
I was lucky I had ruby and emerald because I realized zangoose was my favorite pokemon playing emerald then found out I had to trade one over because it's not in emerald.
I always loved gen5, had a ton of fun in these games with one of my friends back then, also the bug types they added were just so top designwise to me, when i first saw scolipede on a trainer i backtracked all the way into the forest to grab myself a venipede and evolve it xd
When playing gen 2 I always go to a Chuck, give Jasmine the medicine, let her go back to the gym, then head over to Pryce doing the lake of rage events and grabbing that badge before going back to Jasmine. It works better level scale wise and it feels like you have given her time to get back into a battleing mood.
I'll be honest, but I despise pokemon blue the most out of the pokemon games I have played. I fought every single trainer, and grinded as much as I could, and I still was hilariously was underleveled. I understand a challenge, but this was too much, and is the main reason I refuse to play pokemon yellow
At least in gen 1 and 2, the stat exp system and the poor opponent AI go a long way to evening the odds even if there’s a 10-15 level gap. Because of the battle mechanics in those games it’s kinda better to ignore opposing levels, you’ll be surprised how well you do
I tried to like Brilliant Diamond, I really did, but it's like they forgot what the point of a remake was. They couldn't even be bothered to implement some of the bare minumum Platinum QOL fixes, like the back button on the Poketch.
Same here, the walking and collision felt discombobulated. I’m very much accustomed to walking diagonally/using a joystick/circle pad to move in a Pokémon game but here it feels like you’re walking on soap. The most fun I had with it was shiny hunting Turtwig on those lowered shiny odds and got him on 607 resets (although it also made me wish the Switch had soft resetting like past consoles did).
Priced like LGPE,PLA & most Switch games @60$ But Artstyle, Cutscenes, Story, Lack of Move tutors, Lack of Gimmicks (Megas/Dmax,Z moves), Overworld mons(except for the GU) like Base DP It's worst game that took only 2 things from Pt(Rotom room & Dex) ignoring the rest especially the story, Villa,Improved Gyms & Elite 4 rooms, Up & Down Poktech buttons. Why should I play it over Pt? Bcoz Fairy typing+ Some QoL updates that's it, nothing else That's BDSP in a nutshell. FRLG,HGSS proved that u can innovate & expand despite being faithful
I usually look past the flaws of other newer games because I still have fun with them, but BDSP just infuriates and upsets me as someone who started Pokemon with Diamond back in 2007. Everything about BDSP is just wrong and I can’t forgive the game for the mistakes it remade
It’s so crazy too because I kept telling any person I saw on the internet in favor of a remake that we didn’t need one- back a few years before they came out, and that it would turn out poorly. I said that more out of spite, and that because I thought that D/P/PT was overrated. And lo and behold, the remakes turn out to be something that many fans hated
9:04 Wait, so the biggest issue with Ruby and Sapphire is that.. it's hard to complete the national dex? Compared to the previous 2 complaints of general glitchiness and lack of polish, bad level curve and poor pokemon availability, I feel like this is such a minor nitpick that doesn't permeate through the game itself in the same way that the previous 2 complaints did. Not the overexposure of water types, the lack of balance with the starters (Mudkip is so overpowered compared to the other two options), the nonsensical story that wasn't properly resolved until Emerald, or lack of fixed learnsets (that still wasn't really fixed until gen 4) making certain pokemon like Gardevoir have insane natural level-up moves, while leaving so many other pokemon not even learning a move of their own types. I feel like these games got off a bit light, is all I'm saying. EDIT: 11:20 Wait what, you couldn't even come up with a single valid complaint for Emerald? How about champion Steven, one of the coolest champions in the series, alongside Cynthia and Lance, being replaced by... Wallace. The water type 8th gym leader. Who is otherwise unimportant, and completely irrelevant to the storyline. Even in Emerald, Steven does more than Wallace does, and Wallace's replacement for the 8th gym leader is even more forgotten about than Wallace himself. The Hoenn bias is strong with this one
Wallace is a pretty good champion... gameplay-wise that is and even then, it's only in a vacuum. His team is actually quite well put together for a mono Water team... but it's in a region that already has way too much water and like you've said, he replaced someone much more fitting for the champion role in terms of prominance in the story and just general "vibes".
Crystal has to be the WORST third version of all time. What were the changes? Add Suicune as the box art and give him his own story, add Celebi, but only for the Japanese version, and remove several Johto mons. Not touch any gym roster's team, and most egrigiously: THEY TOOK OUT MAREEP!
I mean, Crystal’s main selling point was the girl protagonist. That change is bigger than any other third version on a fundamental level because it gave half the potential player base the ability to be themselves. It makes sense that Crystal stayed similar in that regard, hewing closer to how Harvest Moon used to do girl versions.
Pokemon animations when entering battle, more sprites and more colourful aesthetics changes compared to G/S. Also it was the first game with unique music for legendary pokemon battles. Most major interesting changes are aesthetic imo.
@@ZingoBananaa honestly the people who shit on gen 1/2 are mostly just kids. Gen 1 yeah deserves a lot of it but not at all gen 2. Just clearly tells me that person was not born at the time.

Biggest problem with Gen 1 (for new players): no in-game descriptions of the moves! You see its type and PP, you don't even know IF it does damage, or how much or its accuracy, or if it's a status move, what it even does. You have to use it, and if you find out it's useless, you're screwed, because there's no method of relearning old moves, so whatever you replaced is gone forever. Replaced Psychic with Psywave because Sabrina hyped it up? Have fun kicking yourself.
What kind of drives me insane when thinking about this is: was there even a manual for this game?? Did you really have to go out and buy a separate product (either a strategy guidebook or Pokémon Stadium) or else just play the game _blind???_ That sounds like the most insipid design decision in the world. And I think...yeah, they didn't even fix this issue in Gen 2!! So unless there was a proper game manual for these games, stupidest design decision in the world.
@@prayagsuthar9856 Do you mean they didn't have move description in Gen 2 either? Bulbapedia has GSC move descriptions listed, so I thought they had them in the game by that point (never directly played them myself), unless there was another issue about the guides you meant they didn't fix.
What pisses me off with SM and USUM’s cutscenes is that there’s no auto skip button or instant dialogue option in the games, aside from being cheats in checkpoint which you’ll have to mod your 3ds to access

Small nitpick: 9:57 Gold and Silver actually take place three years after Red and Blue! This was referencing IRL where Gold/Silver released three years after Red/Green. "While all the things I listed are minor, it definitely adds up." While that is true for gen 1 and people say that nowadays, they clearly didn't warrant an outcry back then. Guess they got a pass for being the first in the series. Definitely agree with your Gen 2 and 3 complaints. While I find completing the national Pokedex an issue in Gen 3, I found the idea of connecting all of them together pretty interesting, especially with that being one of the main points of Pokemon. The N64/GB era started it, and the GameCube/GBA era perfected it.

21:49 Sun and Moon are nothing like Yo-Kai Watch. Yo-Kai Watch is closer to Dragon Quest Monsters 1 and 2. You don't control the Yo-Kai directly (Dragon Quest games have an option to let the CPU control your party), you use food to get a chance at recruiting Yo-Kai (DWM 1 and 2 just used meat so this is actually a bit closer to Digimon World 2's gift system as in Yo-Kai Watch there's different kinds of food and each Yo-Kai has a different favorite) and different from even DQM, the main story is gated behind and the sidequests are full of what feels like a bunch of chores even by JRPG quest standards. Like some of the quests literally involve you doing chores your character's parents task you with. Yo-Kai Watch 4 at least improved the battle system but I'm not far enough along yet to know for sure if the quests are much better.
Yokai Watch’a death is what happens when you destroy friendly competitions! I hope you assholes learned your lesson but chances are, you haven’t and will continue to do it again.
One of my favorite things about black and white is being forced to only use gen 5 pokmeon and i usually only use new gen pokemon in new releases nowadays
The reason why negative videos do better has to do with human physiology and how our brains are predisposed to focus on the negative. It’s a quite interesting rabbit hole if you want explore it, it would also I think be beneficial to you as a content creator because you will better understand how to use that negativity basis to your advantage.
9:19 It didn't so much fix the glitches as much as they weren't there to begin with because they ran on the gen 3 game engine, which is also why they have the updated mechanics. That's generally how the remakes work, with the obvious exception of Let's Go which didn't really have a game engine to play off of and instead adapted the most recent mechanics as of Gen 7 as well as implemented Pokemon Go catch mechanics. I hate how gen 2 is so often seen as the best. It has those annoying phone numbers (brought back in Emerald too), the gym leaders are weird an imbalanced (Falkner has no Johto Pokémon for example), many new gen 2 Pokémon are only in Kanto after the league despite being weak, not to mention all the outdated mechanics (HGSS is better though).
I feel like the worst part about Sword and Shield is the map. It's linear to the point of being a one-dimensional line (Wild Area notwithstanding) and you don't get to explore the cities at all. Unova and Kalos were linear as well (Alola was too somewhat, mostly due to plot railroading) but at least their routes had some internal complexity and they all had fully-optional locations. Not so for Galar. Dexit, meanwhile, would have happened anyway at some point due to how many Pokemon there were.
@@deweypatch The National Pokedex was actually removed in Sun & Moon. But since every Pokemon was still able to be used in that game, it wasn't really that noticed.
S/V is even worse with exploring cities. I found myself skipping 90% of the cities (unless they had a gym, in which case I just went straight to the gym and out) because other than the occasional food or clothes store, there was absolutely nothing to see in the cities. I do too, especially since we already had a Gen 1 remake before with FRLG so you can just play that if you want a traditional Kanto experience. I guarantee if they made Let’s Go like a regular game people would’ve complained that it’s just another Kanto remake

Without watching the video first: Gen 1 - bugs and glitches and shit just not working. Gen 2 - leveling curve and pokémon distribution. Gen 3 - I don't know, I wasn't around for it. Gen 4 - same Gen 5 - the dex Gen 6 - the stupid easy gym leaders and elite 4 and lack of any focus on the games main gimmick. Gen 7 - island challenge being bad compared to gym challenge (though that's subjective). Gen 8 - dexit Gen 9 - we've gone full circle and a back to glitches and bugs.
Gen 5 dex is an issue? Lol the post game has all the mons we need right? Gen 8 had other issues too->Exp share being forced, Lack of a good Story............ Gen 9 had loads. As per my count I got 15 issues with SV
@@e94youtube the fact that you can't catch old gen Pokémon in b&w until post game, period HATED that. Like papasea said, people's attitude towards them now is WAY different than it was back then.
@@WolfmanXD Well that's purely a subjective opinion bcoz some ppl like to use only new mons & some like to use their old fav mons right away Gengar is my fav mon & I waited till the post-game. That's fine. The difficulty in any game lies in the post game after all, so it's manageable BW was kind of a reboot to the series which could be a fresh take
@@e94youtube yes, yes it is subjective, I agree. But when a LARGE majority of the community felt that way, it's definitely a step in the wrong direction.
@@WolfmanXD U are right, but I am just saying that it's not an issue if u can manage until the post-game. Before the post-game all games are pretty easy right? But if the majority doesn't like something-->BDSP for example, then it needs to be fixed like u said It's a typical J Masuda moment. He loves 151 like crazy, no wonder he's the game director who thought the game should have a 151 dex if u cut the 4 mythicals
So much hate for Gen 7 :( Sun and Moon aren't like the other Pokémon games. They're not supposed to be played through over and over. You're supposed to experience them and attempt to immerse yourself in it's world. A save file that you don't want to overwrite. Also even though I too was a little annoyed at how little the ultra titles changed from the base games, I feel like USUM really should be up there with Emerald, Platinum, and B2W2.
People really like flakking on it's cutscenes like Gen 8 did much better. Man getting to the first Gym Leader in gen 8 was taxing. Only problem was it didn't really have a compelling story to me like Gen 7. People talk about it being a flop, but it's to this date Sun and Moon are the only games where we get to see a descent into madness hiding behind good intentions and also the only time we see a proper group of outcasts that are, yknow, actual outcasts and not some anti-bully faction. Iunno, I loved it. N the fact I battled powerful wild pokemon while still fighting multiple "gym leaders" felt really good to me.
"They're not supposed to be played through over and over" They should probably have started by making a game that would be fun to play through at least once, then.
I honestly think the original intended order of the Johto gyms was Price, Chuck Jasmine. The reason being price and chuck have the same level pokemon, you get whirlpool after the rocket hideout, prices badge allows you to use whirlpool and the whirl Islands are between olivine and cianwood city.
HGSS improve upon crystal in droves dude. Fully restored cut areas of Kanto, new areas like the Johto Safari Zone and Sinjoh Ruins, rebattling gym leaders, adding 3rd and 4th gen mons being obtainable in Kanto and Johto routes in post game. Went deeper into the storyline of Team Rocket’s return… how can you say this game didn’t do much? Smfh.
It's not so much that the older games don't have flaws, its that newer games are just that, new. There's a higher bar, better graphics, easier to code, less limitations by the software, it's easier to see what fans want, and so much more but the gaming industry still tries to nickle and dime and cut corners everywhere. So back in the day it felt like the games were ground breaking and you could feel the love, effort, and just how packed of content they were. Now its just like they want us to buy anything with pokemon on the title so they didn't bother putting in any effort at all.
Nah, no Pokémon game was the best on its console, in terms of anything, so they certainly were not groundbreaking. Also it's actually hard for any modern game, no matter how fantastic it is, to be groundbreaking.
gen 2 was never meant to be standalone gen like hoenn onwards. it was simply the sequel to pokemon red green blue yellow. so while some of the design choice does seems weird when compared to gen 3 onwards, it is not really fair to compare them when they are developed with a different perspective.
I've gotten 3/4ths of the way through Crystal, and as I played and experienced all of its oddities, I got a feeling that they really wanted you to have played Gen 1 first. Especially with all that word about GS being the "last" Pokémon games, maybe they wanted to make something for the "Pokémon masters" who had the patience and skill to make it through all the game's challenges. That's my hypothesis on why GSC was made the way it was.
21:19 I think the pokemon company hates the Battle Frontier as a concept. While the Battle Tower (which predates the Frontier, having debuted in Crystal Version) came back after Gen 4 in various forms to give the hardcore fans an optional challenge (ORAS even recycling the Battle Mansion from X and Y for some reason), the Frontier at large has never come back. Its omission in ORAS is especially notable as Johto actually _added_ a Battle Frontier in place of Crystal Version's Battle Tower in HGSS copied over from Platinum Version.
The problem with Emerald was Team Aqua and Team Magma barely had any differences in Pokemon most of the Team Aqua people didn't use water type Pokemon and the final fights with them were a joke
VS something like Tatsugiri, which might just seem like a sushi Pokemon given dragon type for lols, but is based off of Koi and Lungfish. Koi are associated with dragons in many east Asian cultures, and Lungfish are also called Dragon Fish. And Curly Form is referencing a mythological being with the body of a Carp, and the head of a Dragon.
That's my biggest gripe with Pokémon fans. People will complain about the trash pokémon or the gears like we didn't literally have a pokéball in the very first gen. And it's incredible evolution: The upside down pokéball 😂 90% of the first gen's pokémon aren't specifically creative and are quite literally taken from the animal world (Zubat, Vulpix, Growlithe, Beedrill, etc) or are as basic as the most generic fantasy creature (Rapidash as a unicorn, Charizard and Dragonite as very average dragons). Most pokémon in later games had a little something to them to stand out, so the complaints about them are very non sensical. But it's very human to complain about new things. Be it the next generation of youngsters, a sequel to a great movie or even just a new video game. Given enough time, even those so called "bad" games suddenly are seen as masterpieces (Gen 5 for example, I remember when everyone, myself included, hated it).
Scarlet & Violets biggest flaw imo, besides performance, is the NPC trainer and gym leader designs. I have no idea how they have always nailed art direction and designs for NPC's in previous games but failed so hard in this one. All the gym leaders in Sword & Shield are memorable and look really cool, and they even nailed the designs for NPC trainers. Some NPC's from Scarlet & Violet are memorable, some ironically for being boring, but what about the designs of random NPC trainers? Boring.
That's the biggest flaw? Let me list some SV flaws. Btw SV are great games however: 1. FPS drops+Glitches are common & a lot of visuals are kinda bad(N64 like) 2. Shiny locks to old Legendaries 3. Missing Linking cord from PLA 4. Forced Battle Style: Switch. It's literally the default option for Ranked battles 5. Gym tests/puzzles are a joke(in my opinion). Just look @ Simon says Psy Gym, Ice gym snowboarding & Hide and Seek of Electric gym 6. Move animations are ruined Behemoth Blade gimmick is ruined, Spirit shackle is ruined, Regidrago & Kyogre having the same animation for their moves are kinda bad too The worst ones are Solgaleo & Lunala being unable to activate their 3rd eye 7. Lack of a Battle facility 8. BBA is based on Unova but lacks half of the Unovan mons--> Watchog & the Elemental monkeys could have made a Switch debut 9. Terastralization couldn't be kept in reserves & it took me a while to know that Tera crystals can charge the orb. Not to mention the fact that changing the Tera type is a Grindy & a less fun method 10. The games continue to follow the same steps from the prev games: Forced Exp share & an obedience system that restricts u from catching higher level mons 11. Literally everything is locked to the Gym badges=Sandwich ingredients, Held items, Obedience, Mints, Vitamins, Pokeballs(Although u can find some on the ground). Also Ability patch being unavailable for purchase sucks 12. Limited Trainer customisation compared to the previous games 13. Victory road(call this path whatever road u want) & E4 rooms could have been a lot better instead of being completely bland 14. The DLC being sold separately for each version is a scam especially when u consider the paradox exclusive mons which require u to spend 95$ extra 15. Lack of level scaling. U are allowed to take your own path, but why does the game punish u with higher level bosses. The Nemona battles are scaled, what happened to the rest ? Also this is the reason why most youtubers & players in general take a similar path unless u grind hard/ do overlevelling. Fun fact: Even a fan game like Crystal Clear has implemented level scaling very well
@@e94youtube you really put a lot of time and effort into that reply, i really respect that. I also agree with all your points, besides some that seem to push the "make pokemon more of an open world game" thing that was really popular a few years ago. While i like ideas like level scaling and open areas, i think the format of pokemon works way better when you have smaller separate areas (routes) with different biomes and encounters. There's a reason Crystal Clear works so well. SV tried to make everything, including cities, be one big open seamless map, and even though there were different areas they all felt bland. And big problems with this were performance issues, no interiors to buildings, boring NPC's and less detailed environments. All of this could be solved with a few loadscreens dividing the different areas, and the routes themselves could still be open. Most of the things you listed are gameplay issues, and i agree they could be better, but my comment was specifically about the aesthetic and design decisions. Because that is, in my opinion, the biggest draw for me to pokemon. The thing that differentiates pokemon from a lot of other similar rpg games is not that the mechanics and gameplay are more polished, or that the world is bigger and better, it's simply the feeling of playing it. I used to love seeing the new fun designs of trainers and pokemon, and enjoy exploring a small but neatly designed world. Even if it was a bit linear. SV lost all of that, and all of it just looks bland and boring. While i do like the design of some new characters, most of them just look... off, compared to previous games. Compare the designs from older games, like the ones from Yusuke Ohmura, Megumi Mizutani and take. Apparently they worked on SV as well, but none of their specific designs are listed and none of them look anything like their previous work. Some of them are even credited to character design in Legends Arceus, and this time their specific designs are listed, and those look great.
@@ZingoBananaa I never commented on the designs or personalities of the characters. Just saying the major flaws of SV. Tbh 2,3 of those flaws are repeated from SwSh. 1. There's no reason for SV to have a forced Exp share. I'm pretty sure they did this to make the games more easy in order to get ppl into the Ranked matches/VGC which has its own paywalls 2. S DLC & V DLC being sold separately is a bigger scam that keeps going on for eternity. I wish someone pointed this out, but nope. We proved to be too gullible & then they say that Pkmn doesn't have any microtransactions when they've been milking us from Day 1 of Gen 1: RBY
@@e94youtube i feel like we're focusing on different things... i still agree with you, but you want to talk about gameplay and the business side of the games, while my original comment and what i really care about when it comes to pokemon is the design aspects. You maybe don't think those things are as important, and that's fine, but imo it is for me to even care about the franchise.
What I like: Black and White story, Platinum map (NO HM NEEDED THO), XY Lumiose city side missions/boutiques/restaurants/popularity level/noblesse level, Scarlet and Violet rivals(DLC included), Sword and Shield CHARACTER models and Stadiums, Gold and Silver +1 Regions, BDSP water textures and difficulty, Pokemon Arceus plot twists and final battles and gameplay, Alola alternative gym leader system to the second region or to the first while having the other region with the traditional one. AND PLEASE... LEVEL SCALING GYM BADGES IF THEY HAVE NO ORDER.
BW2 isn't a fair comparison to USUM, BW2 are sequels, not third versions, USUM are third version, which are aiming to do something completely different. A sequel is it's own thing, a third version is an enhancement of the story that's already there while fixing issues. like the big one for me, you can save much closer to getting your starter in USUM than SM, As someone who soft reset for a female Poplio that was a very appreciated change
Platinum is one of my favorites but I think when I played it on launch my issue was that you needed a lot of HMs to climb Mt Coronet and the Distortion World. That’s like a huge chunk of story in which your team is compromised by HM users against difficult fights. And I’m still bummed how BDSP came out in that many of us felt naive that it wouldn’t be an even better modernized Platinum.
XY is hated for being easy. U can turn the Exp share off, Box the Lucario/Lucaronite & turn on the Battle Style Set mode, it's actually simple. Unlike SwSh where the exp share is forced & even worse in SV where they removed the set mode too But again I would say that XY were only considered as good games bcoz Megas, New artstyle & Trainer customization carried it. Post-game content, Missing Move tutors, Lack of Zygarde plot & most importantly only 3 ppl use Megas=Rival,Champion & Evil Team Boss Lysandre Also BDSP is still the worst game in the entire series, so that's a fun fact or a well known fact
@@Lilithlily5 Lot easier to softlock yourself and essentially corrupt your save. Reason being it retained it's grid based world but utilized omni-directional movement due to gen 8 coding. There were also moves and abilities in the game that just didn't work, cause again. Weren't in the gen 8 coding. Then there was the drastic jump from Gym Leaders to E4 with perfect competitive mons. It was a lot of issues, multiple had to be patched out, the latter of the 3 dividing the community until eventually everyone just agreed BDSP are horrid games. DP had the excuse of being new and didn't destroy saves so easily it needed week 1 patching.
@@Lilithlily5 It's the worst game bcoz it's a copy pasted version of the Original DP with only some current Gen QoL mechanics unlike the other remakes which improve upon themselves/take risks like LGPE did. Legends is my favorite Pokémon game ever. I’m 30 have played every game on release. But I’ll be honest I’ve found myself completely not wanting to ever play the games. I haven’t replayed one since x and Y I really liked the mega evolutions. But I have replayed legends 3 times. I only want more Pokémon in the next one I loved that the focus was on catching Pokémon and I loved how the Pokédex worked it was extremely unique and fun. Instead of just beating super easy gym battles.
I absolutely love FireRed/LeafGreen and as for Crystal the best version for me is Crystal Advance which has the FireRed style of visuals aswell as having fixed the physical attack / special attack setups for the movepools. Think of AquaTail for physical water move or ghost now actually being special type based and such fixes.
Am I the only one who doesn't think Gen 7 's cutscenes aren't that bad? The tutorial is admittedly long, but after you finish the roto camera tutorial it's pretty much the same as like gen 5 for how many times you're stopped . Gen 7 is my favorite gen and it doesn't deserve this imo
No I completely agree. Gen 7 is by far my favorite generation especially the wormhole things you can do at the end. The story was good, I didn’t mind the cutscenes and if I didn’t wanna read certain dialogue I just spammed A. Why do these people have problems with getting immersed in a Pokémon game’s story?? Doesn’t make sense to me
@ryan7948 yeah it was pretty easy to just mash A if you didn't want to read it. And the story is definitely worth it to get invested in the game. It's odd to me too. I love these games
DP being slow isnt the biggest issue. Its the fact that 50% of new pokemon are locked to the post game. DP, and by extension, BDSP, are objectively horrible games.
I really don't think the bugs ruin Gen 1. Here are my thoughts on the bugs you mentioned: - 1/256 glitch: This is probably the only one that will affect most people. Still, the chance is at least fairly small. - Focus Energy: Does anyone even use Focus Energy? If it worked as intended, I don't think it would really make any difference. - Jump Kick/Hi Jump Kick: Fighting is by far the worst type in RBY, so it's not like these moves are getting much usage on Hitmonlee anyway. Besides, they don't really hinder you, if anything Hitmonlee really needs a decent Fighting type move. - Psychic's immunity to Ghost: Considering the only Ghost move that deals regular damage is Lick (keep in mind Night Shade ignores immunities and thus hits Psychic) which is learned by one family that would never use it anyway because it's physical, this basically never comes up. When you really look at the bugs in Gen 1, most of them don't really affect gameplay unless you go out looking for them. I think something worse about Gen 1 is the unbalanced type chart and the lack of type diversity. Normal and Psychic types are pretty favored by the type chart in Gen 1, and Poison is horrible while being way too common. Most dual type Poison types with they were just monotype, especially Gengar.
@@mjdxp5688 What about the issues with the "Good AI" trainers where they'll spam super effective moves, even if they don't do damage to your Pokemon? Most famous example being Lorelei's Dewgong spamming Rest if you have a Poison or Fighting type on the field. You can literally lock the game if you use Rage against it.
@@BusinessSkrub neither one of these are glitches. That’s just how things worked in gen 1. That’s like saying that the special stat not being split was a glitch or an oversight, no that’s just how they choose to have it. Just because it was changed to be different in later games doesn’t mean that they were glitches.
@@mjdxp5688 balancing every type wasnt the goal for them in Gen 1. Some types were meant to be better than others. That’s why you only have one ghost line and one dragon line, they were meant to be special. Having every pokemon being balanced is only important in competitive multiplayer and that wasn’t really the focus until stadium came out and they changed some things to balance it out. But the vast majority of people that played RBY, never hooked up a link cable and only played the single player game where type balancing doesn’t matter.
Eh, not really agreeing with the issues in SV. The most concerning and awful thing about it is... it not being a jrpg anymore. Like there's barely any story; it's more of three side quests you do because your "friends" kinda force you to. There's no routes, and no trainers force you into battles, so level progression is dead. And so are all the gyms/boss pokemon/team star that you can just stumble randomly in and either finish in seconds or get your butt handed to you. Main focus shifting to "exploration" and mindless Pokemon hunting + raids is literally peak braindead gameplay...
@@herowither12354 I see you're one of those kind... Just for you: if RP is for "old school" role playing, then almost every game in the world is Role Playing since you assume the role of the characters like Link, Samus, Alucard or anyone really.

The newer games from 7th gen on just hold your hand way too much. I wanna adventure. Lemme be curious. I’m fine with some cut scenes if it’s worthwhile like in XY.
A problem with Emerald if you're a shiny hunter is that the RNG calculation is broken and doesn't give you a different seed every time you reset like it's supposed to. This does make RNG manipulation easier, but it also largely destroys soft resetting for the starters and legendaries as a viable shiny hunting method. It's especially annoying given that Emerald is still to this day the only game where Mew is huntable.
29:03 That's because it's not, regardless of what TPC says. The straightforward remakes, Let's Go and Legends Arceus are spinoffs and TPC's view on the matter can go to whatever bad afterlife you believe in.
0:54 I'm gonna stop you right there. The glitches & "lack of polish" aren't the worst things about Red & Blue. The glitches of Scarlet & Violet are worse. The lack of polish is to be expected. If anything, the antiquated style helps it stand out as more interesting & distinct compared to games of Gen 4+, which haven't really changed aside from minor move mechanics. No, the worst thing about Red & Blue is the inventory management. Limited bag space, lack of description for items, and no sorting easy way to sort. Having just replayed it, I can say that this was the 1 thing I had to rewire my brain to work around. Do I need the Town Map? Not when I have Fly. Why buy Burn Heals & Antidotes when Full Heals, while more expensive, only take up 1 slot? 13:39 My biggest issue with Platinum is the same with Diamond & Pearl: bad overworld travel. The surfing speed was fixed, but it still has many features designed to slow travel speed: mud, fog, snow, darkness, & requiring 8 HM's (2 Pokemon dedicated to HM moves). Sinnoh is already so big, and it really isn't that interesting to look at; a definite downgrate to Hoenn's sprite collection.
It's also the only game without evolutions that cost $400.
@@herowither12354 what?

@danielcarrilho5217 it is an issue because Gold/Silver introducing a lot of new pok3mon and making them barely appear is lame

I think my biggest problem with X and Y is how unfinished it feels
like the world just feels so small,
there's all these little things scattered around the map that feel like they're supposed to lead to something bigger (the mysterious ghost girl, the abandoned hotel, zygarde, the power plant door, the event mythicals, the 'chamber of emptiness' location which is nothing but a cave with a mega stone in it)
and it's just not there
there's hints and teases, but not much beyond the base story, and the post game is almost non-existent aside from the looker storyline and the extra town
Yeah she me of this was in the recent leaks
My biggest issue with emerald is changing the champion for no apparent reason. Steven is so much better as a champion than wallace
Probably did it to push Steven’s battle to post game to have a Red-like boss. But eh, did we need a water final gym AND water type champion?

The inverse is a worse problem to have, but I finally see how bad this can be.

@@BusinessSkrub I'm pretty sure _there are one or more facilities dedicated to using your own pokemon._
@@BusinessSkrub People like you are why nobody gets to have Battle Frontier gameplay anymore
@@BusinessSkrub Looks like nullpoint's not the only one with lack of literacy. Never said you specifically, I said "people like you". Obviously, you as an individual are not that important 😆
They scrapped it because it sucked? If only the same logic applied to you 🤷
@@BusinessSkrub 🤷

USUM's biggest issue is how they ruined Lusamine's character by trying to make her not actually the villain.

I’m one of the few people who absolutely loved Black & White from launch day when I got them when I was 11
When playing gen 2 I always go to a Chuck, give Jasmine the medicine, let her go back to the gym, then head over to Pryce doing the lake of rage events and grabbing that badge before going back to Jasmine.
Because of the battle mechanics in those games it’s kinda better to ignore opposing levels, you’ll be surprised how well you do
Brilliant diamond was the first time i regretted getting a pokemon game
I tried to like Brilliant Diamond, I really did, but it's like they forgot what the point of a remake was. They couldn't even be bothered to implement some of the bare minumum Platinum QOL fixes, like the back button on the Poketch.

Couldn't you fight steven at the post game?
Thank you! Particularly about Mareep
I mean, there is a Battle Tower. Definitely not the worst with capital letters. That's dramatic. Ultra Shit and Ultra Manure exist.

@@bugcatcherjacky1334 Wyndon was the city in Galar where the Pokemon League is. Most of it was a big set piece...
I really liked how Black and White had a Pokedex that was exclusively the new Pokemon before the post game.
One of the things I hate the most about the newer Pokemon games is that they make fewer brand new Pokemon and put more focus on the regional variants and the current gimmick (which gets worse with each generation).
actual emerald critiques: the final gym leader and champion changes are odd. and the team magma/aqua storyline is more convoluted than you think. plus the pokemon used by team magma and aqua are very generic and lack diversity.
I still remember the day I got a game boy color and pokemon blue for Christmas. Don’t know what possessed my parents to buy that for me, since they knew NOTHING about video games, but i love them for it.
I do like how Let's Go is focused on catching. It can be fun to just catch a bunch of Pokémon repeatedly. I think what most people dislike about it is the motion controls.
I do too, especially since we already had a Gen 1 remake before with FRLG so you can just play that if you want a traditional Kanto experience. I guarantee if they made Let’s Go like a regular game people would’ve complained that it’s just another Kanto remake
At this point if anyone tells me they don't like the catching mechanic I'm calling it a skill issue. Let's Go are incredible games and I'm sick of everyone pretending they're not.
@@RammerHammer "Skill issue" "Motion Controls", these are still mutually exclusive. Maybe in another 20 years.
@@nullpoint3346 No, actually. The motion controls in Let's Go are incredibly simple, if you can't figure out how to flick your wrist that's on you. And if you can't figure out the timing, that's on you.
My issue is the difficulty being a joke and the motion controls are a sin.
I don't want to bulldoze everything with 1 oddish. Just give me a touch of the difficulty for E for everyone.

Gen 1 - bugs and glitches and shit just not working.
Gen 2 - leveling curve and pokémon distribution.
Gen 3 - I don't know, I wasn't around for it.

Gen 5 - the dex
Gen 6 - the stupid easy gym leaders and elite 4 and lack of any focus on the games main gimmick.
Gen 7 - island challenge being bad compared to gym challenge (though that's subjective).
Gen 8 - dexit
Gen 9 - we've gone full circle and a back to glitches and bugs.
Gen 5 dex is an issue? Lol the post game has all the mons we need right?
Gen 8 had other issues too->Exp share being forced, Lack of a good Story............
Gen 9 had loads. As per my count I got 15 issues with SV

Sun and Moon aren't like the other Pokémon games.
To me it is up there. Gen 7 is one of my all time favourites
Even one playthrough was way too boring for me lol. Gen 7 isn't good
@bruhmoment5974 enjoy your shitty cutscene spam hallway simulator, i guess 🤣
"They're not supposed to be played through over and over"
They should probably have started by making a game that would be fun to play through at least once, then.
I honestly think the original intended order of the Johto gyms was Price, Chuck Jasmine.
The reason being price and chuck have the same level pokemon, you get whirlpool after the rocket hideout, prices badge allows you to use whirlpool and the whirl Islands are between olivine and cianwood city.
every time you mention how old each game is, i feel a new grey hair appear
The exp sharing isn’t the issue it only over level if you over grind
The whole point of it is do you don’t have to grind
HGSS improve upon crystal in droves dude. Fully restored cut areas of Kanto, new areas like the Johto Safari Zone and Sinjoh Ruins, rebattling gym leaders, adding 3rd and 4th gen mons being obtainable in Kanto and Johto routes in post game. Went deeper into the storyline of Team Rocket’s return… how can you say this game didn’t do much? Smfh.
3:05 A frog lizard with a banana plant-style rafflesia on its back (Banana plants are not trees and bananas themselves actually are berries).

Oh right, ScarVo doesn't have a tower or anything similar, not going to edit because UA-cam comments have been glitching on me lately.
The problem with Emerald was Team Aqua and Team Magma barely had any differences in Pokemon most of the Team Aqua people didn't use water type Pokemon and the final fights with them were a joke
People complain about modern pokemon being uninspired. You know, like Pidgey, Spearow, Muk, Electrode, Magneton, etc.
Who on earth said that?? Modern Pokémon are DEFINITELY inspired
And it's incredible evolution: The upside down pokéball 😂
90% of the first gen's pokémon aren't specifically creative and are quite literally taken from the animal world (Zubat, Vulpix, Growlithe, Beedrill, etc) or are as basic as the most generic fantasy creature (Rapidash as a unicorn, Charizard and Dragonite as very average dragons).
Btw SV are great games however:
1. FPS drops+Glitches are common & a lot of visuals are kinda bad(N64 like)
2. Shiny locks to old Legendaries
3. Missing Linking cord from PLA
4. Forced Battle Style: Switch. It's literally the default option for Ranked battles
5. Gym tests/puzzles are a joke(in my opinion). Just look @ Simon says Psy Gym, Ice gym snowboarding & Hide and Seek of Electric gym
6. Move animations are ruined
Behemoth Blade gimmick is ruined, Spirit shackle is ruined, Regidrago & Kyogre having the same animation for their moves are kinda bad too
The worst ones are Solgaleo & Lunala being unable to activate their 3rd eye
7. Lack of a Battle facility
8. BBA is based on Unova but lacks half of the Unovan mons--> Watchog & the Elemental monkeys could have made a Switch debut
9. Terastralization couldn't be kept in reserves & it took me a while to know that Tera crystals can charge the orb. Not to mention the fact that changing the Tera type is a Grindy & a less fun method
10. The games continue to follow the same steps from the prev games:
Forced Exp share & an obedience system that restricts u from catching higher level mons
11. Literally everything is locked to the Gym badges=Sandwich ingredients, Held items, Obedience, Mints, Vitamins, Pokeballs(Although u can find some on the ground). Also Ability patch being unavailable for purchase sucks
12. Limited Trainer customisation compared to the previous games
13. Victory road(call this path whatever road u want) & E4 rooms could have been a lot better instead of being completely bland
14. The DLC being sold separately for each version is a scam especially when u consider the paradox exclusive mons which require u to spend 95$ extra
I'm pretty sure they did this to make the games more easy in order to get ppl into the Ranked matches/VGC which has its own paywalls
@@ZingoBananaa My gripe was that the characters & mons could be subjective but the issues I mentioned are kind of universal issues
What I like:
Black and White story, Platinum map (NO HM NEEDED THO), XY Lumiose city side missions/boutiques/restaurants/popularity level/noblesse level, Scarlet and Violet rivals(DLC included), Sword and Shield CHARACTER models and Stadiums, Gold and Silver +1 Regions, BDSP water textures and difficulty, Pokemon Arceus plot twists and final battles and gameplay, Alola alternative gym leader system to the second region or to the first while having the other region with the traditional one.
Unlike SwSh where the exp share is forced & even worse in SV where they removed the set mode too
But again I would say that XY were only considered as good games bcoz Megas, New artstyle & Trainer customization carried it. Post-game content, Missing Move tutors, Lack of Zygarde plot & most importantly only 3 ppl use Megas=Rival,Champion & Evil Team Boss Lysandre
Also BDSP is still the worst game in the entire series, so that's a fun fact or a well known fact
How are BDSP worse than the original Diamond and Pearl? Like yes, Platinum is still better, but the remakes are absolutely better than the originals.
I agree for the XY bit, but not for the BDSP bit

It never bothered me that Black & White started out with only new Pokémon. Whenever I play a game I always keep my team comprised of new Pokemon
I rarely replay but shiny hunt and do some draft stuff so I still get stuff out of it
I absolutely love FireRed/LeafGreen and as for Crystal the best version for me is Crystal Advance which has the FireRed style of visuals aswell as having fixed the physical attack / special attack setups for the movepools.
It being slow was definitely an issue, because after a while, you actually crack at how slow it is. The terrible Dexes didn't help either.
I really don't think the bugs ruin Gen 1. Here are my thoughts on the bugs you mentioned:
- 1/256 glitch: This is probably the only one that will affect most people.
I agree. For him to call them unpolished games is disrespectful to the geniuses that made these games.
The bugs are what have helped Gen 1 not fade into obscurity 😂
Gen 5 is my favorite gen. But easiest worst part of black2/white2 is the dumb pokestar studios. So lame it’s mandatory
You did NOT just say that to Pokéstar Studios my beloved!!! 😭😭😭
Pokemon has never been a JRPG. It's Japanese, and it's a Game, but there's no real oportunity for Role Playing.
Barely any story?
Have you ever finished the game? Tried Arven's route? There's a story literally every single time you beat a Titan, tf.
Heck, even Team Star gives you plenty entertaining moments
@@herowither12354 I see you're one of those kind... Just for you: if RP is for "old school" role playing, then almost every game in the world is Role Playing since you assume the role of the characters like Link, Samus, Alucard or anyone really.

5 gen - WE THREE EAGERLY WAITED for Juniper to gift us pokemon to leave for an adventure
6 gen - first time we are forced into the adventure btw, BUT MOM SETS US OFF to see new region we moved in for our sake
7 gen - first time it's barely our story, we given pokemon and set of... just because. It can be argued that both mom and Kukui wanted US to experience Alola but most of the story is about Lilie, Gladion, anyone but us
8 gen - similar to Sinnoh. Hop may be more of the "driving force" but we are eager idiot who wants to experience Galar and get pokemon from the champion himself. Story still mainly about US

@PaPaSea Thank you for responding! I'm interested to hear what you have to say either way so I'm excited. I want to see how you feel about your last favorite game after so much time without playing to think about it. I love this channel and will be happy to see whatever you post.
While I was watching the Gen 6 portion of the video I found a Shiny Chansey in Scarlet!
29:03 That's because it's not, regardless of what TPC says. The straightforward remakes, Let's Go and Legends Arceus are spinoffs and TPC's view on the matter can go to whatever bad afterlife you believe in.

i love pekachu
The catching Macnic is great tho you don’t need to use the candy’s and it’s great for shiny hunting
Let's go is my favorite main Pokemon game. and i've played them all. but the control restriction is terrible.
I really liked the dialogue in Sun/Moon.
same it's only a problem in Usum since they ruined the story in that game
3:46 I was shiny hunting in legends arceus while watching this and thought that was a shiny
