David Coverdale not only had the voice, he had the looks and charisma. He was in Deep Purple before he started Whitesnake. The whole band was very talented.
David Coverdale is one of the best rock singers ever. Before Whitesnake, he was the singer for Deep Purple. Whitesnake was originally formed in 1978. In 1978 and 1979, Jon Lord (keyboards) and Ian Paice (drums) of Deep Purple had joined the band. They changed the lineup in the 80's transitioning from a more blues based rock band to the more pop metal band where they found the most success. Great rock band whether it was the 70's or the 80's version.
When I hear this song I get depressed about how music evolved into something horrible. My 18-year-old self back then would have never thought that today we would be in a musical wasteland.
There is still great music out there in the vein of 70's and 80's rock. It's just not on the radio anymore, sadly. Even Sirius radio doesn't have a station devoted to more current melodic rock. It's a crying shame! T
Ah, don't despair. There is plenty of good killer rock bands. Green Lung, Blindstone, Blindside Blues Band, Super Vintage, Freerock Saints, Golden Grass, Firebird, The Groundhogs, Axel Rudi Pel, and Duskwood to name a few.
@wyomarine Oh man! Green Lung has heavy guitar riffs, but yet melodic. Same with Blindstone(Swedish band) and Blindside Blues Band. Duskwood is kind of stoner rock. Heavy guitar riffs. This bands have an element of blues. Kind of like heavy blues rock. Good stuff! Check them out!
Imagine you are born let's say in the 2000s, and you have to catch up on all the music that's played back then + before. And becomes harder as time goes by. It's so much you have to focus on some particular musical style, to not burn out. I'm familiar with old things until the 70's, and everything to 2010. After that, i kept my eyes on underground extreme styles, and do it myself. All the music won't die off. It will always be there, and kids listen to it. The musical pool is just getting bigger and bigger
95% of today's "artists" making music today will never hold a candle to real bands from 30-40yrs ago like Whitesnake!!! The beauty of the composition & the skill of every member of the band is a real testament to the best decade for music!!

John Sykes (the guitarist on the album) does a pretty good version of this song on his Bad Boys live cd. Saw them on this tour at the Texas Jam at the Cotton Bowl.
❤❤❤WS!! My very fav WS video. !! John Sykes was 🔥🔥, he uses a bow in this song !! Gotta see the video !!!!!! One of the best videos ever!! They are so into it !! ❤❤❤❤
Oh ya guys this was a MONTRA back in the day early 84 I think. Without looking it up. Every time we played it , it was full blast. Please watch video. David Coverdale - lead singer will blow your mind. His wife, Tawny Kitaen, was in his videos. David was originally in Deep Purple. White snake formed in 78 I believe. Awesome song !!!💙💙
This is 1987. But Whitesnake is 45+ years of albums concerts and hyatus. Every decade from 1970s to 2020s has brought great music. This year it's the end of touring and who knows if there will be another album with new material. My favourite albums are Slip of the tongue, restless heart, Good to be bad and unplugged live Starkers in Tokyo (just one acoustic guitar and vocal). And there's asong "Slave" that is only on a collection album I think.
I owned a White Snake cassette also a band the comes back to me thats this level also Great White the Once Bitten Twice Shy lol i had that on cassette as well and well i melted them where i had them in the car. Best road tape for a long while was the Grat White. Lol oh the days of youth
so jealous here. I was a sophomore in HS when all these great albums and tours came out - and I missed Def Leppard's Hysteria tour as well. My mom was a bit over-protective, and I wasn't allowed to go to rock concerts. I graduated in 90 and my first live show was Metallica in 91 in Oakland along with Soudgarden, Faith No More, and Queensryche. That was a show. But I truly lament missing all those great hair band album: Crue, Poison, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, Great White, Cinderella and Skid Row. I missed them all.
Great song and band, no matter who was in the band with Lead Singer/Songwriter David Coverdale, they always could kick butt. Try David in Deep Purple, Live at the California Jam 1974 with You Fool No One, you will be blown away! Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
Yes this is White Snake I'm talking about, wish you guys saw the official music video, bro it's so damn good but gives you chills... Plus my most favorite part is when it slows down with all instruments and then he uses the violin bow to play the guitar... That was a masterpiece of art, it blew my socks off, hell yeah...
You've got to watch the video too - which features his then wife, Tawny Kitaen - and she was in at least two of their other videos from that album. Have you reacted to "Is This Love" yet? If not, you should! ❤ And yes - 80s and yes, Whitesnake is great! David Coverdale the lead singer goes way back to his work with Deep Purple and then in the 90s he joined Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin obviously, on an album too! He and Whitesnake are still touring! He's also an amazing looking man ❤
David Coverdale and Whitesnake already had a long and thriving career when this album was recorded, (if you watch the video you see he's not in his 20s anymore), except they hadn’t really managed to break America. This album did, with a vengeance. And the way they did it was by taking their heavily blues-based hard rock into hair metal territory - (adding a pinch of pop and upping the volume, if you will). It was quite the shock to Whitesnake fans when it dropped. And while it is a great album, don’t ever sleep on their earlier catalogue. Whitesnake was always the real deal. To me what’s so striking about this song is how well the music illustrates the lyrics. Even the intermission is like a short respite from his erotic obsession, until it slowly picks up steam again, and boils over with a feverish guitar solo that leads back into the prowling main motif. I wouldn’t be surprised if this song scared quite a few young teenage girls with an otherwise healthy curiosity.
This came out circa 1987. Really showcased David Coverdale's vocal abilities. Some other songs to check out are: Slide it in, Slow an Easy, The Deeper the Love, Fool for Your Loving, Guilty of Love, Give Me All Your Love Tonight, Sailing Ships. Also, you talk about his singing voice, if you ever heard him just talk, he's got such a suave, British voice.
Ohhh Tawny, rolling around on the hood of a Jag... love this whole record, great times! Great guitars and that David Coverdale voice... dude has had an amazing multiple decades career in rock and roll...
David is an incredible voice, and he sounded just as recorded when ive seen them live a few times.. once in 84 and then in 89 on this album here. Live they were 1 of them very good bands that sounds 100% like their album only live. Their SLIDE IT IN album and this 1 here are my favorites from them. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍
I love Whitesnake. I don't know what my favorite song is, probably depends on my mood at the moment. However, this is a song you want to hear and see live at the concert. Whitesnake had a mix of stellar guitarists through the years. Crying in the Rain is bad to the bone!!!
Asia and BJ, I swear that I was gonna listen to this song before I left the house!! I didn’t get a chance to, but when I got home, the two of you had played it!! Classic… The song was written by John Sykes, who’d left the band already, but the group they’d gotten was phenomenal: Rudy Sarzo and Tommy Aldridge who’d played with Ozzy (among others), Vivian Campbell (from Dio, now with Def Leppard), and Adrian Vandenberg. David Coverdale is the man behind the fantastic vocals… You’ve gotta see the video… Great choice!! You’ve done it again!!
In this song the guitarist was Adje van den Berg. Lead guitarist of the Dutch rock band "Van Den Berg" with a well known 80's rock ballad "Burning Heart". You should react on this song as well! Cheers!
Van der Berg ??? No, no, no... 😂 John Sykes was the guitarist and composer (along with Coverdale) of the 1987 album. Van der Berg arrived later, when Sykes left the group and the famous video clip was made.
Listen, I was born January 1970 so of course I grow up listening to this music and this song is one of my favorite songs ever! This song is so badass on every level. And a very sexy song.
This was released in 1987. Whitesnake singer David Coverdale recorded 3 albums with Deep Purple and 2 solo albums, 1 of which was called White Snake, before forming Whitesnake. Deep Purple keyboardist Jon Lord (RIP) was on 6 Whitesnake albums and Deep Purple drummer Ian Paice was on 3 Whitesnake albums.
You should watch the MV, adds to how awesome this song is and the band really is too, yes guys it was in the 80s. Journey song i haven't seen you guys watch is Mother Father live escape tour 1981 the 2022 remastered version is best.
I wanted to watch this the day I saw the notification, can't believe it took me so long to watch. I remember walking down the street in my neighborhood, carrying my "GHETTO BLASTER" blasting this song!!! Tawny Kitaen, however it's spelled made this VIDEO!!! 😂🎉
So so good in concert🌻 that was my big hair days😂😂😂👏 and the video makes the song so so much better rest easy Tawny💚 esp bassist specially when he’s playing the guitar and it looks like a violin awesome🩷🌺
This song is from their Album "Whitesnake" released in 1987. Check more hits from this Album like "Here I Go Again" "Give Me All Your Love" and the Ultimate Powerballad "Is This Love" - I recommend you to check the music videos. Good job guys and thank you for reacting this great band.
This album came out in 1987ish. I remember this tour with them and Motley Crue for Girls,Girls,Girls! I remember it like yesterday at Alpine Valley! I think Skid Row might have opened that show. God I'm getting old!
They finish their set list with , In the still of the night! David Coverdale was in the rock group Deep Purple too. He’s a great lead vocalist and he is gorgeous too! ❤️
David Coverdale got his start with Deep Purple, and he was the lead on Burn... John Sykes is an awesome guitarist; you guys should check his band he formed after his Whitesnake days called Blue Murder and their song Jelly Roll or Valley of the Kings...
it s was the 80's. I saw them multiple times because all the girls were going. They sounded perfect in concert. Different drummer, Tommy Aldridge, from this album but you would totally like to see him go live.
my fav song of theirs. Takes me back to riding in my friend's IROC, with the T Tops out, blasting this while cruising . It's the strings part that gets me , great choice y'all
Excellent reaction!!! The video to this song is REALLY good. You're right Asia, he has a very versatile voice. He can do many genres of music if he wanted to.
Y'all ROCK!! WHITESNAKE ROCKS!!! Its a win, Win, WIN!!! Not enough head-bangin' in the beginning of this Classic, though.🙈😁😜 And I like how you'd said, "they let the beat breathe." Thats a good way to put it.
Oh man! WATCH the actual official video for THIS one!! You definitely will see all that 80's big hair look ya'll were talking about! The 80's were VERY visual with the look going with the sound. This one is a great example of that.
Two of my favorite drummers have history in this song. Aynsley Dunbar who dose the drumming on the record was a huge influence on me as was Tommy Aldridge who is the drummer in the music video Aynsley who’s a legendary player who’s played for so many and Tommy who’s just a powerhouse player. This song is still fun to drum to Thanks guys.
Thank you for reacting to this song! It has been a while since I've listened to it...when it came out I just couldn't get enough of it. You guys are my favorite reactors...keep up the fantastic work!
Before David Coverdale was part of White Snake He was in DEEP PURPLE - STORM BRINGER from 1970s his voice sounds so much like the Future of White Snake Years before. STORM BRINGER is the song I highly recommend this one too. This song Still of the Night is super awesome just like the whole album too from 1987 it's a classic.
This song hit in 1987, got to see them in concert opening for Motley Crue . I would recommend doing a reaction to their newer keyboardist called Dino Jelusick , the video official of "Fly High Again , it's just out in 2023. This guy sings just as good as David Coverdale does.
You should definitely see the official music video for this (yes very 80's) ..an epic performance by lead singer David Coverdale, and yes great guitarists. (I feel like guitarist Viv Campbell was originally in some of these videos but he was kinda edited out, becuz he was in the band when they were recording the album, but he didn't tour with them or something.
Fun fact - in the breakdown part, before the small solo - what sounds like a cello is actually played by a guitar and a violin bow. They took a LOT of heat for that because it was done by Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin. In fact, they were labelled Zeppelin clones. Not for just that, by David Coverdale as well and his singing style on this song. Call it what you want - I loved this song back in the day, and still do.
David Coverdale (singer) was amazing and this album had Adrian Vandenberg and Vivian Campbell (Def Leppard) on guitars with Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot, Ozzy) on bass. Great song!
Neither Adrian or Vivan played on the album, that's John Sykes. You can see him preform the song here on UA-cam where he also sings lead, he co-wrote the song.
@@Chris.Davis.2 Correct. Coverdale basically fired the whole band after the album was recorded and recruited Vandenberg, Campbell and Sarzo to join the new Whitesnake.
1987. This song was so big at the time. David Coverdale, the singer also played with Deep Purple, and later Jimmy Page. It was weird because the song was sooo big, but guitar player John Sykes refused to go on tour which screwed everything up.
Sykes didn't refuse.... He toured with white snake before they even started recording the album.. Egomaniac Coverdale fired the whole band after they finished the album. It's been well documented.. Sykes was such a talent that Coverdale didn't want to have to share the stage with him anymore
This whole album is fantastic!🎉❤
Definitely. One of my favorites from the late 80s Hard Rock albums. This song still gives me goosebumps.
David Coverdale not only had the voice, he had the looks and charisma. He was in Deep Purple before he started Whitesnake. The whole band was very talented.
The most under-rated and unheard of drummer who played in more bands than anyone in rock history played on this...Aynsley Dunbar.
David Coverdale is one of the best rock singers ever. Before Whitesnake, he was the singer for Deep Purple. Whitesnake was originally formed in 1978. The music video that launched Tawny Kitaen to superstardom, and every teenage guy that watched it couldn't walk for about an hour.
I knew her from Bachelor Party way before this video.
Who? 😂 I am 51 I listened to hard and heavy in the 80s and never heard of her before or after. And obviously I knew this video
After seeing Here I Go Again when she moved across the car hood I never till then wanted to be a car hood lol
Yes sir! Tawny was a real smoke show.
@@neillenet291 underrated Tom Hanks classic.
I remember this tune back when it was new. It had a Led Zeppelin feel to it. It was great!
John Sykes using a violin bow to play that middle section
between the violin bow sounds, and David's voice of Plant-esque sound, yah that's about right.
Coverdale/Paige was supposed to be the second coming of Led Zep. Never got any traction though.
When Paige saw the bow part he called Coverdale up and was like wtf dude? And Coverdale/Paige was born. Not for long, but a great album nonetheless.
Totally. Coverdale was excellent. Gave back that soulful Robert Plant style
"Love ain't no stranger" and "Slow and Easy" are my favorite Whitesnake tunes.
Yep. That whole album just Slams.
YES! 🔥

Apparently Robert Plant used to call him David Cover”version” because of how much he sounded like him. I think there’s room for both of them!
This is part of my favorite whitesnake's album this is awesome 🙏. I miss so much 80's music 😢
This is one of my fav 80s songs , R.I.P. Tawny Kitaen great reactions, love and blessings 🙏🤗❤️

Excellent reaction!!! The video to this song is REALLY good. You're right Asia, he has a very versatile voice. He can do many genres of music if he wanted to.
used to scream still of the night after karaoke in the 90’s after a hip hop song. damn i wish we have cell phones then
Y'all ROCK!! WHITESNAKE ROCKS!!! Its a win, Win, WIN!!!
Not enough head-bangin' in the beginning of this Classic, though.🙈😁😜
And I like how you'd said, "they let the beat breathe." Thats a good way to put it.
This album came out right when our Marine battalion got back from overseas. The whole album is fantastic. John Sykes on guitar is a beast.
This was a very good band in the day. I have a few of their records. SOLID!!!
Oh man! WATCH the actual official video for THIS one!! You definitely will see all that 80's big hair look ya'll were talking about! The 80's were VERY visual with the look going with the sound. This one is a great example of that.
Playing guitar with a violin bow! DavId Coverdale's vocals! Unbelievable!
The album came out in 1987. Whitesnake's first album was amazing and is still one of my favorites of all time.
John Sykes tore it up on this album!! One of my favorite guitarists ever
Mine too, John Sykes is a legend in my book, one of the best guitarists ever…
Two of their guitarists used a violin bow on his electric guitar during live performances, to recreate the sound for a section of the song.
Check out Whitesnake's cover of Burn from Deep Purple at the MTV video awards. Will blow your mind. David Coverdale was in Deep Purple way back when.
Whitessnake always rocks . The song slow and easy and the song love ain’t no stranger is good music
Whitesnake's song and videos are F%^$KING COOL AF
Singer David Coverdale Was previously lead singer for Deep Purple
I fully expected BJ to break out his air violin during the strings instrumental in the middle! LOL!
This song hit in 1987, got to see them in concert opening for Motley Crue .
I would recommend doing a reaction to their newer keyboardist called Dino Jelusick , the video official of "Fly High Again , it's just out in 2023. This guy sings just as good as David Coverdale does.
This song, and album, took them to another level. I suggest you guys listening to Forevermore. Beautiful song! Thanks for reacting!!
This band is a vibe. "Here I Go Again" and "Is This Love" are my favorites.
You picked a great song to review. Still Of The Night is Whitesnake's best song ever.
Whitesnake singer David Coverdale released an album with Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page in 1993 called Coverdale-Page -- check it out.
Man this song was played out, however it’s cool to look at through their eyes hearing it for the first time . Reminds me why I liked it so much
Fun fact - in the breakdown part, before the small solo - what sounds like a cello is actually played by a guitar and a violin bow.
