And if she does do it. It should be the live version. From their performance at Donninton. David at his very best. And Steve Vai on second guitar. What a line up that was. The whole concert is on UA-cam. And sounds amazing. Their best performance ever. SV's solo was played on his heart guitar. That was something to see live.

Let’s give credit to John Sykes on his guitar playing! KILLER playing! And the guy can sing something serious too. His guitar tone on this album is something else. When you get to Thin Lizzy, that’s a duo of Gorham and Moore. Truly legendary in the guitar community. Gary Moore is often considered being among the pantheon of greatest guitar players
The way the video shows, there are scenes where David is in the background of the scene. Tawny is in front of the screen. I think this is him imagining being in the scene. When the video cuts back, David is no longer in the scene. He is imagining if he was there, what he might be able to say. He doesn't say anything - an neither does she. They are not both there at the same time. My interpretation is that she left when he was on tour / out of the house. My 2 ¢
When he sings that line, "...so I can hold you in my arms" is SOOOOOO good. I was deeply in love with a good friend and sometimes lover when this song came out and it really spoke to me then. You mentioned how effortless he makes those high notes sound. Steve Vai who toured with him a couple of years after this said that every night when they played live David Coverdale could hit all of the notes from the album night after night effortlessly without fatigue.
I definitely would prefer to hear Elizabeth do the earlier stuff- Burn is an ESSENTIAL album. Live at California Jam has Burn, Mistreated and more that show Coverdale's raw power. The post 87 album production just couldn't be sustained live, and sadly his live voice deteriorated badly by 1990ish. Starkers in Tokyo showed that he still had the low register- Don't Fade Away and Soldier of Fortune are great on that, but his high register elsewhere is often very painful to endure live. Such a shame.

@Apocalypse2031 All a matter of opinion, I would say. None of them are extraordinary singers and seem to be at about the same level. Personally, I prefer Coverdale's voice, though. You've got to understand that this song was THE rock ballad of the late eighties. Right there with Heart's Alone, Leppard's Love Bites, Bon Jovi's Never Say Goodbye and Poison's Every Rose has its Thorn. So now that you've done Here I go Again and Is This Love - both featuring the lovely and much missed Tawny Kitaen - you have to complete the trio in this story with Still of the Night. I agree with the previous speakers. “Still of the Night” is my absolute favorite Whitesnake song. Yes, it is not your typical ballad. It's one of those songs that has something epic about it. Greetings from Franconia :)
All credit must be given to the co authour and the guitar player of this song - *John Sykes* Such a talented songwriter, singer , performer and a jaw dropping guitarist.🤘🤘🤘
Interestingly Elizabeth that song was originally written with Tina Turner in mind, and when David was working on it, the then bans guitarist John Sykes came in and picked his Paul up and started playing along with the lovely chords underneath and they decided to keep it for the 1987 album, looking forward to the vid
I had read that the record label, after hearing it, thought it could be a big Whitesnake hit and then asked that he not pass it along to Tina Turner, but record it for the Whitesnake album instead.
I've heard Coverdale himself say it was written for Tina, but when it was done, he didn't want to give it up. I would absolutely love to have been able to hear a Tina version of it.
Same here. It's definitely a Whitesnake classic. Tina did some covers, but I don't think she would have touched it after it was such a big hit for them, especially since they were a hard rock band. But I wish she had!
This was one of three or four albums on constant repeat driving to/from high school in the late 80s; listening to it now still brings back the feeling of that after school freedom of driving home with the windows down and the music blasting. Thanks for the trip down memory lane with the windows down!
So, I just thumbs upped every Still of the Night comment & need to throw in another vote for "Ain't No Love in the Heart of the City" for some early Whitesnake.
Forget the most recommended Coverdale songs, go into his pre 85 back catalogue. That is where you will find his best work. The two solo albums after leaving Deep Purple are magnificent
RIP Tawny Kitaen and I'm so glad you gave John Sykes the original credit he deserves for making Whitesnake explode before they even released this gem of an album...Vivian Campbell, Adrian Vandenberg, Rudy Sarzo, Coverdale and the GREATEST rock drummer ever...Tommy Aldridge nailed it perfectly after Sykes laid the groundwork.

How your team chose this song over Still Of The Night is baffling. I have seen Coverdale twice in the past ten years. He still has a strong voice for his age, but nothing he has ever done beats this album; it is fantastic.

I agree with the previous speakers.
“Still of the Night” is my absolute favorite Whitesnake song.
Yes, it is not your typical ballad. It's one of those songs that has something epic about it. Greetings from Franconia :)
Still of the night!!!!!!
"This is a total aside!" You're hilarious. This is one of your freer analyses yet! Viiking lover!
I will NEVER get tired of the song and/or video
All credit must be given to the co authour and the guitar player of this song - *John Sykes*
Such a talented songwriter, singer , performer and a jaw dropping guitarist.🤘🤘🤘
John get so little credit for the sound of this Album such a great guitarist for sure.
Not only is he a great guitarist, but his vocals are excellent, too. He really lets it shine with his post-Whitesnake band Blue Murder.
@@Easy_Skanking 💯 🤘🔥
@Easy_Skanking agreed he's also a great vocalist. Been trying to find that blue murder album on vinyl
One of the best rock voices of all time.
One of my favourite voices ever. I love Coverdale's voice. I LOVE IT! GREAT REACTION, ELIZABETH!
So, I just thumbs upped every Still of the Night comment & need to throw in another vote for "Ain't No Love in the Heart of the City" for some early Whitesnake.
Definitely
Great tune bro
Another on of my favorites!! Ty!
Still of the night PLEASE! Coverdale really goes all in on that one.
It’s time for Still of the Night! You’ve landed solidly in my high school wheelhouse.
Forget the most recommended Coverdale songs, go into his pre 85 back catalogue. That is where you will find his best work. The two solo albums after leaving Deep Purple are magnificent
Agree. North Winds is excellent and early Whitesnake is far better than the USA focussed stuff.
David Coverdale is just made to sing that way! Watch him in the butterfly ball, 1974. Every time he opens his mouth it's GOLD.
RIP Tawny Kitaen and I'm so glad you
gave John Sykes the original credit he
deserves for making Whitesnake
explode before they even released this
gem of an album...Vivian Campbell,
Adrian Vandenberg, Rudy Sarzo, Coverdale and the
GREATEST rock drummer
ever...Tommy Aldridge nailed it
perfectly after Sykes laid the
groundwork.
I have Aquanet at the ready. Please no open flame in chat during the premier, hairspray is highly flammable 🔥 😂
One of my sense memories of the 80's is the smell of Aquanet.
😂😂😂
😂
Ozone: *PTSD intensifies*
Live acoustic version from Tokyo 1997 is outstanding and worth a listen!! What a voice!
Yes, that acoustic version is amazing!!!!
Starkers in Tokyo and Soldier Of Fortune ❤
@@HardiPerskelesOMG yes yes! I live this live from Tokio, his voice was do beautiful there! Solider of fortune is my fav, but any song from this live would be great!!!
Amen! "Starkers in Tokyo" is a gem of an album, and so hard to find! I lost my CDs during the last move (and don't have anything that could play them, anyway), so I think it is unforgivable that it's not on Spotify!
OK, these Whitesnake reactions make me nostalgic. Great White opening for Whitesnake in 1987 at the Pontiac Silverdome in Pontiac, MI was my FIRST ever concert.
Thank youuuuu for listening to us asking for more Whitesnake... that being said, BRING MORE OF THEM PLEASE!!!
Yay, promise to come to Thin Lizzy - I love that!
You should definitely do in the still of the night. It is the heaviest song on that album. David screams his heart out. I also suggest the deeper the love on the next album, it is more in the same light as this song. Coverdale is my idol as far as rock singers go.
How your team chose this song over Still Of The Night is baffling. I have seen Coverdale twice in the past ten years. He still has a strong voice for his age, but nothing he has ever done beats this album; it is fantastic.
One of my favorite 80s guitar solos… What an amazing guitar tone.
Try "Love Ain't No Stranger" or "Standing In The Shadow" from the previous album Slide It In. Or go back to the bluesier roots of the band with "Ain't No Love In The Heart Of The City."
Ain't no love in the heart of the city, from, Live in the heart of the city, is pure emotion.
Ain't no love in the heart of the city, from the live album, Live in the heart of the city, is the ultimate.
This is one of the best-sounding, quintessential 80's songs. I should know, I was there. 😂 Man, we had the best music!
We sure did!!
Wooow! Great song! Thanks for sharing with us....greatings from Spain
Excellent song, even better reaction video!
