Brian Johnson sealed his position as the new frontman for one of the greatest bands of all time when this album was released
Exactly, right from the start. It don't get better than AC/DC.
He had ONE shot to make it work as the "new" guy...knocked it out of the park
One of my favorite albums!🤘🏻
I love Bon but I think Hells Bells is their best song.
@@johndef5075 bon was great, but every song on this album is so damn good
To me, this song was announcing that AC/DC was back and for the world to get ready! It was the band's first album with Brian Johnson following the death of Bon Scott, and Brian put the world on notice, Bon will be missed and never forgotten, but, AC/DC is back and not going anywhere. There are still rolling to this day!! Much respect!
Yes! This track/album was like an announcement to the world that the band WOULD soldier on.
AC/DC's guitar riffs are unmatched. Nobody consistently creates amazing riffs like AC/DC. Brian Johnson has that voice that balances the guitar. There's nothing else like it anywhere else.
In 2nd grade, I wrote an essay and used Bon Scott as the main character. My teacher gave me a B solely for using Scott as a last name. She said it wasn't a real name. I'm 53 now and will never understand how a teacher could dock me for that.
RIP Malcom
Это очевидно! Забавы нашей жизни, когда гениальность спровоцирована из столь неприятных событий, трагедий.
Fun fact! Dolly Parton said she woke up to Back in Black every Sunday morning as her husband is a huge AC-DC fan.
Love to see a Dolly / AC-DC collaboration.
Doesn't get more legendary or iconic in Rock than this. Masters of Blues Rock and a legendary Rock voice.
The entire Back in Black album is a smoking banger of Perfection. Please listen to it - Hells Bells, Rock n Roll Ain't Noise Pollution, Honey What Do You Do For Money, Have A Drink On Me - Turn it up 👍👍
You shook me all night long, Givin the dog a bone are also bangers
Fuckin A it is! One of my favorite albums of all time
and "shoot to thrill"
they are ok. Chicago had better music in that era@@TonyM1961
"Honey, what do you do for money" is the current Veeps theme song...
This song broke when I was a freshman in HS and it was HUGE and has since been a staple of rock! Truly hard to understand how influential this song/band became after this monster album. LEGENDS
Yeah, came out in my last year of high school.
My first year as well. No album was bigger back then than this one. 👍
Listen, I love your reaction videos. I’m 54 years old so I’ve been around for a while and I love to see people of different age groups and everything appreciating this amazing music from back in the day.
'Back in black' was released in 1980... the album is currently the #4 top selling record of all time 🤘🤘25 million copies sold in the US alone... 50 million+ globally... It's one of those rock records that still sells today and changed the rock scene forever.
I live in Indiana where high school basketball is huge. There is not a team with black colors that does not have this song on their playlist.
It’s actually the 2nd best selling album of all time
@@pringles4312 That's debatable, since sales figures outside the US and Europe r sketchy at best.
@@sumonjamal1653 of course it’s debatable but most reliable sources have it at #2.
@@pringles4312 Well, "reliable sources" once said that Led Zeppelin was an awful band... (Shows u how reliable those a-holes were - reliable like Fox "news" and their 24/7 bulls+++)
In America, The Eagles' 'Hotel California' has sold more copies than AC/DC's 'Back in Black' (26 million to 25 million) and those r reliable NUMBERS.
And Eagles' "Greatest hits '71 - '75" compilation has sold 38 million in the US... Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' sold 34 million in the US but considerably more than The Eagles overseas (officially)
I love AC/DC, more than The Eagles... but I highly doubt that 'Back in Black' could have pulled in those sales numbers ahead of The Eagles (officially or otherwise) because The Eagles r massive overseas as well (I should know!)
I could be wrong... but so could ur 'reliable sources'... The internet has a lot of misinformation and inadequate data and random speculations as well 😈
I've heard this tune a million times and watching you both react to the "groove" of this song. It's just a huge groove with perfect guitar parts, and the vocals/lyrics are just icing on a big stanky cake.
I've seen them live 6 times over the years and they always brought the same energy and put on a great show, loved their music since grade school
Asia, BJ… You could put EVERY album AC/DC have ever released up on a wall, blindfold yourself & throw a dart at the wall & no matter which album you hit, you could easily be a winner 👍😁. This is an all time classic from the group that so many fans from my part of the world lovingly refer to as “Acca Dacca” 🤘😜🤘🇦🇺
I think in an interview once Angus Young was told "People say you've made 12 albums that all sound the same." His answer was "F you, we made 13 albums that sound the same!"
@@jco207 … I love it 👍😂
Everything except for Fly on the Wall and Blow Up Your Video.
@@stompthatazz3967 … Hey look: ..NO artist or group in the world today have had a perfect career or careers but considering that AC/DC have been around since the mid 70’s (almost 50 years!! 🤪) & are still rocking today, even THEY have had the odd “bomb” releases. No one is immune & no one is perfect. Given their other material however… 🔥🔥🔥
Many have said, if aliens ever came down and wanted to know what rock n roll was, you just play them AC/DC. They are rock in its purest form.
Agreed!!!!
BJ! YES! Finally someone agrees with me that this is actually a rap song!
I never thought of it as a rap song but now BJ and you mention it, I can see it.
The start of the second verse especially.
When I was a kid I thought Brian's words were "9 lives, cats eyes, using everyone of them to rock and rhyme"always thought he was rapping. and Long live Angus Young!!!!
It’s a hard rock song not rap. If it was rap, then there would be rapping
@@Jaxon_Knight13 compared to todays rap it could pass
Such a great song! Nothing like driving on the highway & this comes on!😂 I saw them in concert year ago!
I saw all their tours starting off with the : Highway To Hell tour
The best rhythm section in rock EVER. Add a lead guitarist that just won't quit and a singer who gargles glass and you get THE BEST
Uh, have you heard of Keith Richards? I love Malcolm too!
Glad to see you appreciate them like I do. Favorite band since 1977. And yes they are LIVE live!
One of the few songs I can remember right where I was when I first heard it on the radio in 1980. A complete game changer of an album in every way.
Saw them back on Razor's Edge tour. Opening song was Thunderstruck. Angus popped up center stage from a behind a curtain, disappeared back, then reappeared on the left side of stage, did the leg kick dance to the right side and proceeded to not stop moving basically the whole concert.
Angus and his uniform…
This whole album is fire!
As far as ENERGY, there's NEVER been anybody like Angus Young. He was perpetual motion! From the first song to the very last encore he would march all over the stage. Growing up in the late 60's through the 70's as a teen and seeing over 80 concerts, I seen every band, Angus was spectacular/special/unique/an anomaly! I saw for their Back in Black, For Those About To Rock, and Thunder Struck tours (at the legendary HOLLYWOOD SPORT ATORIUM in Florida). On the Thunderstruck tour, during the playing of Thunderstruck, Jeff Dellenbauch, the center for the Miami Dolphins, was in the crowd and called into the stage by Brain Johnson. Dellenbauch puts Angus Young up onto his shoulders and he marches all over the stage while Angus is playing the guitar for Thunderstruck 😁 The place was BANANAS 🍌 Great Old Days...
That entire album is absolute 🔥🔥🔥!!! Been listening to it since it came out in ‘80!!!🤘🏽
One of the top 10-selling LP's of all time..And to think the Atlantic Records Board were upset with Ahmet Etregen for giving AC/DC such a huge advance to finish it. But Ahmet spent 24 hours partying with the band, listened to the advance tracks and knew it was "The record that would make them superstars" so he went around them anyway. In 6 months, it sold millions and grabbed the no 1 spot on the Billboard chart.. After that, they never hassled Ahmet again when it came to artist signings/contracts.
As a concert freak back in the day I was lucky and honored to see AC/DC six times. They always had the best concerts. They were hot. Love them always. Thanks Asia and BJ.
I saw all their tours starting off with the : Highway To Hell tour and every tour after that . I was also at the River Plate show & Donington show .
This might be my favorite song of acdc. Brian Johnson's vocals are insane and Angus is absolutely uncontrolled on the guitar
One of the most iconic rock songs of all time was literally the band announcing their new lead singer after the death of one of the all time greats, Bon Scott. Brian Johnson went on to be a legend himself.
They were a fantastic group to watch live! I seen them once with the late Bon Scott and once with Brian Johnson both shows were great..R.I.P. Bon Scott, Malcolm Young…
I understand that Back In Black is one of super albums of all time. Although as far as Brian Johnson with ACDC no one mentions " Flick Of The Switch " album that is also a great album 🤙
Anything from their Back in Black album is gold, but my personal favourite is "Let me put my love into you babe" because its smokin hot and Brian johnson's vocals are so rich and soulful on it.... highly recommended if you like this, loved your reactions, you were feeling it.
Saw this band 3 times in the 80's and early 90's. Great live!
I was a young teen when this song came out. I remember it well, it kicked ass. It was the first song AC/DC released with their new lead singer after the original died, that's what it's about. They came back with no effs to give, in your face attitude/music just like they were before. Great song!
I think I was a sophomore in HS. Track season. I think.
I was a 12 yo boy in Australia when this was released. This album became an instant classic. ACDC were already legends, and no-one thought they could survive the death of the previous lead singer, Bon. O how wrong they were.
They were amazing Live !! Saw them quite a few times as a teenager ! If they were coming to town we were heading to the concert !
Gotta love Angus Young, he is a talented lead guitarist. Some of the most memorable hooks and riffs.
I saw them live in concert in 1985 (I can't believe it's only been once) & you're right the energy level was so high; I saw Van Halen in 1984 & they are the only other band that compares energy wise & with one great song after another.
I listened to this album in 1982 and never get burned out to this day.Truly one of the greatest albums of all time.
Some of their best: "Touch Too Much", "Are You Ready", "TNT", "Walk All Over You", "Ride On" and "Rock n Roll Ain't Noise Pollution" Please studio versions.
Of all the rock bands out there, Angus Young is the only lead guitarist I have seen who literally runs, duck walks, gets on his knees, and headbangs all over the stage and runways as he does his amazing riffs at every concert. Most all other lead guitarists basically stand around as they play. His energy level is second to none. No other band has emulated their sound. They are a one of a kind. The audiences always feed of their amazing energy.
Great job! AC/DC is amazing!
I would love to see you all react to a song from their 2009 River Platte concert next?!? 🙏🙏🙏
One of the best all time bangers off one of the all time greatest hard rock albums EVER! Angus Young on lead guitar, his brother Malcom on rhythm guitar and Brian Johnson’s vocals - simply amazing!!
"Back in Black" was AC/DC at their pinnacle... Even after the tragic loss of Bonn Scott, they reached the peak of their powers with a new frontman. The album, start to finish, was the band at their apex of songwriting and experimentation. Sadly, from "For Those About to Rock" onward, AC/DC settled into being a hugely successful 'formula band" (an arena rock fixture, but no longer a band breaking any new ground). 40+ years later, "Back in Black" is still one of the best rock albums ever pressed... brilliant, edgy, and fresh. A true one-of-a-kind masterpiece!
Was at this tour... amazing concert..1980
My first concert alone without my parents, was AC/DC in Toronto at the release of this album one of the best memories of my youth, and I still have hearing problems because of that concert.
AirBourne is an AC/DC like band. Got to see AC/DC LIVE in Ford Field 5 years ago. Angus Young, the lead guitarist was 66 at that point and still just as high energy as when he was young. Amazing concert.
Best selling studio album behind Thriller, 2020 Number One album Power Up and a concert in California this year keeps ACDC still the best Rock and Roll band
A triumphant return after the loss of Bon Scott. I remember before it was released. On the radio, the dj interviewed a record company insider. He described the new vocalists voice as "his throat is full of broken glass". Totally different but perfectly suited.
Their concerts are great every time. I've been to every single one when they show up. In a weird way, they're like family.
To answer the question, there have been bands that can put out similar sounding vibes, but not as consistent as these guys. I've always said that AC/DC is the most consistent band ever. They never stray from their roots and it tends to be good every time. Too bad we have to get old.
Bon is missed but Brian was a great follow up. They solidified their place in history with this one
ACDC was my favorite band in the 70's and 80's! Angus is the most visible member of the band, Brian Johnson-lead vocals is phenomenal, but Angus brother Malcolm on rhythm guitar, Cliff Williams on bass, and Phil Rudd on drums are vital as well. Angus and Malcolm were born in Scotland and moved to Australia! I've been very lucky to have seen ACDC on 3 tours: Back In Black, For Those About To Rock, and Flick Of The Switch! ACDC is pure energy on stage! When Bon died I thought it was over, but but Brian came in on the album Back In Black and that was more than enough for me! Nothing against Bon, but Brian is just so powerful and sings the Bon Scott songs with ease and grace! Please react to more ACDC! Thank you!
I was an early AC/DC head first hearing "Let There Be Rock", long before they caught on here in the States. Then just as a seed of popularity was starting to grow here, tragedy struck. You have to understand we all thought they were dead as a band, no way anyone replaced Bon. And then I went to the concert promoting "Back in Black" (Ted Nugent was the lead act btw,,,,what a concert!), and immediately knew they were "back in black" indeed.....
I went to the Back in Black concert in knoxville tn the way agnus young danced and moved around i thought was fantastic kept me wondering how he had so much energy
The band had just started making it on a world stage. They were very good musicians with a dynamic and unique singer. He was an unfortunate member of the 27 club. Died in the back seat of a car after asphyxiation on his own vomit while drunk. The music press around the world assumed this would be the end of the band entirely. What color do you wear to a funeral? Black. This song was them saying, we are right where we need to be and we are gonna kick that door in to an global audience and thrive more now than ever. Back in black was thier song that established them as a rocking band everyone loved.
The song and the album was a metaphor for the passing of their front-man Bon Scott to now, Brian Johnson. A rare feat for a lead singer to replace another, much less be successful. Respect.
We rolletskated to this in the early 80's.Let's just say when this song came on we all skated at breakneck speed, lol.😂 This album is a CLASSIC!
Love your AC/DC reactions! So many great songs!
You guys would love "Jailbreak" or "Gone Shootin'"
You guys need to do more ACDC live at River Platte. Just look it up,and pick a song. Their all great
loved your reaction to this Gem. Angus was like a god to me , as a teen in the 80's...such talent on that guitar...if you get a chance to see Any Video of this...take it. Liked and Subscribed...keep it coming
Watch this song in the live version. They are so full of energy!
I've heard this song a million times and by some freaky universe coincidence, I literally for the first time noticed the rap similarity 5 seconds before you called it out on the reaction.
This and For those about rock were peak Brian Johnson. His singing and screaming was amazing and he was never quite the same after. The sacrifice.
yes , this is THAT !!!!! song!!!!
YES!!! I first heard this song whilst walking the hallways on my first day of middle school in 1979. I was all " oh H E double hockeysticks YA!!!!" I LOVE this place!
BJ you crack me up!😂 I love your Moves-n-Grooves to Rock Music! I love you too Asia. You guys are a Beautiful Couple bringing Rock music to the younger generations! I am so blessed to have grown up through the 70's, 80's & 90's the Rock Era of Heavy Metal & Great Rock-n-Roll Bands... I love that the younger ones are opening their ears & eyes to the Decades of Rock! Music is "Food for the Soul!" It brings people together too! GOD Bless you both! You bring joy to many!😊
You two make the troubles of the world go away.❤😊
This was and IMO their best album. I was 13 when it came out and it’s on my playlist still. Whatever party you went to this album was always on
This was exactly what I needed at the end of a long week. Thank you, guys!
Our pleasure!
He sound like he is rapping on "you shook me all night long" as well he flows in that song just like this song
This song, and album, was not only their announcement they were back after Bon Scott's death, but also a tribute to him.
The year was 1980 i think i was 13 and bought this album. It was played eveyday like 10x a day. I still have the album
You guys totally rock, this song is awesome! I enjoyed your reaction to this song, AC/DC is an awesome band and is still going strong!
This came out when I was in high school, never forget how great the whole album was , and still is…
This concert was amazing. Angus Young is a beast!!!
AC/DC was a band that stood out on it's own. There are quite a few bands that tried to replicate or top their sound, but, couldn't quite get there. A couple for me were Krokus(checkout Headhunter and Midnight Maniac) also Accept(Balls to the Wall and Metalheart). I love Brian Johnson. But, I favor the Bon Scott days. My No.1 go to AC/DC album and song from it would be Highway to Hell(album) and Love Hungry Man(song).
I blew out my 2nd set of Jensens in my 79 Camaro to this song. 1st set Of Jensens went bye bye to Let There Be Rock. Cassette time back then in 1981. BTW, did you know that all of the Nashville recording studios tune using this album. Thank youreviewing this. You made my day.
Great reaction you two! You obviously get the greatness of this band! ✌
Best rock song of all time.. right there ❤ ACDC❤
May i suggest the song Big Balls by AC/DC 😂 y'all will enjoy it 👌 😉
Great band 👏😁✌️
Agreed Mr. Boyd!! Followed by AC/DC - "BEATING AROUND THE BUSH"🔥🔥🔥
@@robertbanks162 😂 the Jack might be to much 😉✌️
Even better... "SQUEALER"
😂🤣😭👍
First band I ever seen live . 1980 , Max Bell , Calgary Alberta
The incomparable AC DC!! Long live rock!
I would be very very surprised if this is the first time you've reacted to this song. Iconic.
Please can you react to Take That's - "Back for Good" One of the biggest bands from the 90s in the UK, that never quite cracked America but certainly cracked the rest of the World.
You may know Robbie Williams from the band who, after going solo did a famous song called "Angels".
I saw them live around 1988 in Lake Placid NY. Awesome show!
This is 1980....I had all of AC/DC's albums prior, and I wanted to see them Live really badly. Bon died in early 1980, this album came out that summer, and I got to see them in concert in Sept.; with Molly Hatchet and B.O.C..
By the way tommy Johansson covered one of the song of AC/dc called thunderstruck . He also sang highway to hell and thunderstruck also known as " tommystruck "as punishment for tommy after tommy cued the crowd to sing Swedish pagans during Sabaton concert in 2022
I just remember….
Bon Scott had died. We were all distraught. The new AC/DC album was coming out with a new singer. We were all distraught. Then this song was released, and we heard the first 60 seconds, and we knew immediately that everything was still right with the world.
Great song , fantastic album.
Yes, Asia they are freakin awesome.
BJ, you are absolutely right! The singer sounds like he is spitting bars especially on the second verse! I always thought the same.
Yes sir...they are indeed back and ready kick even more ass
Nice one. Saw them on this tour with BOC & Molly Hatchet in 1980. May have been the best concert I ever attended........but there were so many.
AC/DC rock for year's. The drummer lived around the corner from me.funny thing is you would never guess he was the drummer of AC/DC.(Phill Rudd).
The whole Back in Black album is EPIC!!! The soundtrack of my senior year of high school!!
So so many stereos blown up because of this here song . CANT BE LOUD ENOUGH!!!!!
Been an AC/DC fan for nearly 40 years, they are as much a joy to me today as the day I first heard them. Welcome to the family!
Rock n Roll
Blues
Rap
This song has it all.
ACA DACA Aussie legends just like me🤘
Watch AC/DC concert at River Plate in Argentina...talk about "nothing like it"...wow, what a show!
this is the perfect song, name of an album and the perfect person to lead ac/dc , after the passing of bon scott
Aww, legendary! The early 80's was the best time to have been in high-school 🤘. Best of the metal years!!!
Your reaction to this one made me smile . Love your reactions.
One of the greatest triumphs in music history. Released in 1980 and they somehow managed to do it
My home team is River Plate . After the 2022 World Cup Argentina played a game in the River Plate stadium . We also won 2-0 just the other day in the Copa Libertadores . Anyone who puts a concert at that stadium it's always packed , but when River Plate plays a home game it's 20 times packed. We are crazy about our ⚽🏆😉
Another AC/DC like band (and Angus is a fan of) is Airbourne. They also have similarities in that it's two Australian brothers in a band. Malcolm was Angus' brother he played the rhythm guitar. Passed away now.
