FULL DISCLOSURE AS SOMEONE WHO GREW UP IN A BLACK HOUSEHOLD I WAS A CLOSET HEADBANGER BACK IN THE LATE 80'S. I HAD TO HIDE THIS FROM ALL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY ALL THE TIME. DON'T GET ME WRONG, I LOVED HIP HOP& R&B, BUT I ALSO LOVE HAIR METAL. I COULD'NT SHARE MY SECRET WITH ANYONE. I WOULD WAIT UNTIL EVERYBODY WENT SLEEP LATE ON A SATURDAY NIGHT AND THEN I WOULD WATCH HEADBANGERS BALL ON MTV WITH THE VOLUME TURNED DOWN. THIS SONG WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITES. SADLY I HAD TO HIDE WHO I WAS. A BLACK KID WHO LOVED HEAVY METAL. WHAT CAN I SAY, I WAS A WEIRD BOY.
I wouldn't say weird at all. You love music. I mean shit look at me. I'm a white dude and I listen to Eric b and rakim, big daddy Kane, boogie down productions, public enemy, ice t. All the old school rap is fuckin awesome. After snoop came out, I listen to him, but I can't listen to new rap. They honestly don't know how to. Shit I don't even like Eminem.
Hey Kevin, if it's any consolation, it was the same story on the other side of the tracks! A lot of white kids and metalheads with "closet" appreciation for rap, hip-hop, R&B, and whatever else was out there. Hell, even among the white kids, there was some serious clique shit going on - metalheads (or headbangers, as they were called then) versus the preppies (the mainstream "pop" crowd), and they were the two main "rivaling tribes" (or so they were in my little world), and if anyone DARED like anything else (country, classical, etc) it was simply unspoken lest ye be shunned and shamed. What a messed up mindset, so much wasted time and unnecessary shame for liking all kinds of music which could have only brought a lot of people together sooner. I was that dorky kid who was dismissed as a "wannabe" metalhead - I liked the music and the style, but I just was not "cool enough" to be officially welcomed into the fold of that crowd, and certainly not trendy enough to be accepted by the "preppy" crowd... so I sat on the outer fringes of both... and that might have been the best thing cos by not being completely immersed in just the one genre or clique, I was able to explore other genres of music (and retain those I was exposed to as a child courtesy of the parents, which was country, lol). There is no bad music except the commercialized crap they make today, lol.
Yes it is. And I did get the opportunity to Fuck my neighbor to this song. She was a total milf and she had just gotten divorced too. So that was one amazing night.

I disagree. I feel like Whitesnake were lumped in with glam metal, while they were stylistically outside of it. Their roots were firmly entrenched in 70s rock and were a bit more "mature" musically to be truly glam metal. Also, Coverdale, in general was too old to be a heartthrob for teenage girls, which was kind of a prerequisite for glam metal.
I mean, Def Leppard could be put in that same basket. They started in the late 70s as well. But I mean the HAIR, the power ballads, and the guitar work are all in the makings of that era even if they started before the era actually caught on to be the era.

First concert I ever went to, Whitesnake, 1987. But, the guy who played all the guitars on this album was John Sykes. Adrian Vandenberg and Vivian Campbell who are in this video and who I saw live, replaced John Sykes. Those two are just playing along to the tracks Sykes recorded.
“Is this love” is a must! Official video! (That is the super 🔥Tawny Kattain, his then gf that was in many of his videos-). And “Slow & Easy.” You won’t be disappointed! Guaranteed!! ❤️💛☮️💟✌️
🤟😛..after watching afew of your reactions ..I have come to a decision that Girl your a SOILD ..YOUR HONEST GENUINE AND A GEM .U ROCK..KEEP BEING REAL..NOTHIN TO IT BUT TO DO IT ..YOUR SPIRIT IS A RAINBOW. ❤💋
I grew up on 60s and 70s music with my mom, but Whitesnake was the first band that was Mine, that I claimed as my own. I was absolutely in love with David Coverdale (this was all before I discovered Aerosmith and threw my heart at the feet of Steven Tyler), and I loved every single song that I heard from this era of Whitesnake, but this one scared me half to death. Granted I was about twelve at the time; now I absolutely adore it. Is my favorite song they ever did, I think it's just absolutely spectacularly crafted and fantastically done, and David is at the height of his vocal talents in it (and Steve Vai on that guitar just kills it). This album (their epynonymous one), and the next one Slip of the Tongue, were IMO their to best albums; just loaded with hits and songs that should have been hits, and really just fantastic all around.
Great reaction to a great request. Here I go again and still the night were major songs in the 80's. But whitesnake's earlier work was more blues-based. Please react to Walking in the Shadow of the Blues and Slow and Easy by Whitesnake.
Coverdale is one of the best Blues vocalists. I think he was married to Tawny Kitaen when this video was shot, but I can't remember. This was one of their more progressive songs, but not widely played on MTV compared to Here I Go Again which is sad.
Check out Standing in the Shadow Slow an' Easy Guilty of Love The singer (David Coverdale) also sang for Deep Purple for a while. He sings Burn for Deep Purple.
Not sure if anyone mentioned it yet, but that girl in these videos is actress Tawny Kataen, who was married to the lead singer, David Coverdale for many years. Glad you got a taste of Whitesnake because they were one of the most incredible bands of the 70's-90's and still relevant today!
Yes! Finally some Whitesnake! I love the hair rock era but the earlier stuff is fab. Coverdale has such a bluesy voice. You're Gonna Break My Heart Again is fun.
Yes, it does sound like a violin, because he had a special guitar that had a bowed bridge, like a violin. This allowed him to use a violin bow and create a rif that sounded like a more refined instrument.
White Snake was pretty much a supergroup in terms of 80's metal, especially with Rudy Sarzo on Bass and Carlos Cavosa on guitar. The music was badass and sexy. Yep we rocked our asses off in the '80s
Fun fact: the lady here was Tawny Kitaen, Steven Tyler's (Aerosmith) wife and actress Liv Tyler's (Armageddon) mom. First time i heard this song was on a field trip in 6th grade. I had the whitesnake cassette borrowed from a friend on a Walkman tape player. It had just come out.
couple of facts: None of the guys that appear in the video actually played on the song, except David Coverdale (the lead singer). After the recording was finished, he fired the whole band and hired new guys. The girl is Tawny Kitaen, who was Coverdale's wife from 89 to 91.
LOVE Whitesnake! You should also check out Slide It In, Slow and Easy, Gimme All Your Love, Cheap and Nasty, and Fool For Your Lovin'. On the softer, more romantic side there's Is This Love.
Awesome video I'm so glad I came across your channel love how you explain the video. You know I think I agree with you about the werewolf thing cause they say they come out on a full moon you just might be on to something. I listen to them as a teenager and I still listen to them when I'm not listening to Prince. Have a night.👍👍💙💙
The whole thing sounds like a werewolf stalking his prey, even the image of the camera looking at her from behind the barred gate and her looking around sensing something watching her gives those vibes. I wish they went full on with it and had special fx of him transforming into a werewolf, it would've been epic.
Amazing that you like Whitesnake. I could tell while you were watching it. Awesome. Excellent vocalist and the incredible band. You know that solo guitarist you like so much? Steve Vai. Tender surrender? He was in this band at this time
You should watch their live stuff. Lots of different band lineups, but the one with Doug Aldridge as lead guitar is the best modern lineup. Wish I could remember the DVD title to help you find it.

Color don’t dictate what music can make you feel. I love the typical country, rock but I loveee blues
Ok...gotta finish out Whitesnake with "Is this Love" and "Crying in the Rain". 🙂
You forgot one. Here I Go Again.
She already did that first one
And Deeper The Love👍😁💞
Crying in the Rain is way too hard!
Slow and easy
Whitesnake had an album named. Slide it in with a song Slow and Easy. They were filthy but freaking AWESOME
Awesome song!
David Coverdale - the master of the single entendre lyric.
You forgot “Spit it out” lol
That album is there best work ever IMO🐍
Yessss!!! Whitesnake!! Now you need to check out their softer side with “Is This Love”.
Whitesnake “slow and easy” - very sexy song!

This one needs to be listened to at max volume! Always!!! 🤘
80’s Coverdale was the closest we had to the 70’s Robert Plant.
Even teamed up with Jimmy Page for a tour, until Robert Plant buried the hatchet with Page and took over.
Read somewhere that Robert Plant referred to him as "David Coverversion"
more like led zeppelin 1 and 2 robert plant.
Plant had moved on with different styles from led zeppelin III and onward.
Thats the problem - when people try to emulate Led Zeppelin they try to copy zeppelin 1 and 2.

@@Marco-vw3mv Yes! When the Coverdale Page CD came out, Plant was not a fan! LOL

David has an amazing voice. Listen to him in Deep Purple. Burn, Soldier of Fortune.
Soldier of Fortune is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. A masterpiece.
Tommy Aldridge, the drummer, is over 70 now and still playing for this band. He plays just as hard now and he ever did.
The greatest rock song ever

Quintessential 80s hair metal but that said, they had the musicianship and musical chops to sound great playing it.

Saw them back in the 80’s ...great show....caught Tommy Aldridge’s drum stick ...still have it 🤘
Not a werewolf per se, but definitely an animalistic hunting persona, much like the perspective in Duran Duran's Hungry Like The Wolf.
Maybe my favorite of all time. John Sykes is an fn monster
Classic song and probably one of the greatest and best known riffs in rock.

"Still Of The Night", by Whitesnake, got heavy airplay on MTV in the 1980s. It is the best Heavy Metal song that Led Zeppelin never recorded.
