Watched the feature on your collection, this is my personal pick out of them. Congrats on this specific purchase and the rest of the collection, well done !
Absolutly agree. It kills me they came out with the 40th anniversary ZX-10R in the old paint scheme, but didn't give us the air induction tubes through the top of the gas tank like back in the day... would have been amazing.
Absolutely loved this video, especially hearing it start up at the end... brings back memories. I had a 91 ZX-7R in the 90's... it was my dream bike, I was young, and free to ride wherever and whenever. Nice job!
That’s was so satisfying to watch, look after that aluminium tank and fibreglass seat cowling they are a fortune to replace and those flat sliding carbs are a total fortune, I’d say your the first guy to build a homololigated bike in office clothing
Hi, You may not be a mechanic but for for sure you have passion for this K model. I have two J's (green white blue) models that are completely standard. I do also have an immaculate original rear K model fibreglass seat pod if you know of someone wanting one. I have it on eBay currently for £900. Oh one last thing. There are 4 rubbers you're missing, you may already know? On the hoover pipes, they prettify the 'jubilee clips' They are the same 2 that were in the H models. You have a great day sir. It was an absolute pleasure watching your video.
Thanks for pointing out the rubber protectors, I put them on after I shot the video. I was surprised to find that you can still get them from Kawasaki.
It's a simple thing but I always get great satisfaction cleaning and lubing the sidestand so it flips up like new. Same with the rider and passenger foot pegs.
I have the J1 version, gorgeous machines. The airbox i remember was an absolute pain in the rear end to get on to the carbs lol, a copper mallet and some heat off a hairdryer did the trick. Slips on no bother now! I remember when i bought it the previous owner accidentally [dont ask me how!] undone the carb adjuster screw all the way out, thinking he was undoing the engine block manifold..... yeh, baffled me how he got them mixed up, too! The difference in engine sound and throttle response between a balanced/synced up carb to one which hasnt been done, is huge
One of my all time faves, in the late 80s, and 90s. Never owned one, but I would ride a friend's, often. Those lines, I think of an F4 Phantom II jet. I mean, the bike just looks like it was designed, as a combat machine. Fierce, poised..a street weapon, that can hold it's own, today.
I sold one of the exact same model (K1) to a young lad starting out many years ago and moved on to a zx9r. I immediately regretted selling it... The next time I saw it a couple of years later was at the back of his house standing half rotted in the pissing rain looking like sh1t. Couldn't believe it, lad has no idea what he had.....
Yes on the last clip, I see what you mean. I don’t adjust the sound post production, the bike was running. I remember that I needed to adjust the idol speed as it kept on stalling, it was so low it wasn’t registering on the rev counter just before it stalled. Hope this helps and thank you for watching.
This video is AMZING man..nice nice nice job ...but i don't understand if you have restore it or if you have find a new bike disassembled ,evry part of this bike is like new ,this is the reason that come to think me that's a new bike
When I got the bike, it was very clean and good for its age and it had all the original parts the are very hard to get, however, I’m a but of a protectionist so I restored it back to a factory fresh finish, showroom condition.
My second bike was a 92 ZX-7R. In 96 I blew the motor for the 3rd time. I was next to team Kawasaki at Phillip Island in the pits. I knew some of the boys on the team, raced next to them, got thrashed by them. So i asked for a motor. A Large Chunk of money later that day I installed the ZX-7RR N1 Factory Team motor and CDI. Blew it 6 months later Hahahahahaha Phuck!!! Rebuilt it. Had the bike till 2008. Then I left Australia, the guy I sold it to destroyed it 3 weeks later. I cried. Literally cried. Put so much time and money into it. 390lb wet. Ti everything, carbon wheels, most minute wiring harness i could get away with. Custom built carbon sub frame and Fairings. Carbon petrol tank. I made a Ti shorty exhaust for it to save weight. Butt killing foam seat. Brembo suspension. No lights when it was dum time. Lights weighed 2kg, easily removable. All electronics moved forward. I could have bought a house for what i put into it. 42mm Klein carbs, tuned to an inch of it's 50 hour life, then a rebuild. At 100 hours it blew up Again.... Phuck! Custom made motor internals, didn't like to start up with such lumpy cams. 14 to 1 compression,, forget the exact number but had to run very high octane gaa. On the right fuel with Velocity Stacks it made 180 at the rear tyre at Sea Level on a 25⁰ C day. Horrible fueling below ~7k. At 9k it was moving. At 10k it accelerated like a two stroke! Scared the whimpering shit out of me every day. LOVED IT! Best bike I've ever owned!!! So much thrust at 10k Thats how my "Mate" destroyed it. In race prep ); Miss that bike so badly sometimes. But a RC-51 and a new Tuono Fact do sort of make up for it. But how that ZX-7R would destroy tyres! It flogged liter bikes! 300kph on the straight at Phillip Island. Then boom. Back to the shop for a rebuild! I spent so much money on it, never regretted a second though! Hahahaha. Very nice bike you had there, you sold it? Shame. But bikes come and go. Ps. I'm very impressed by your attention to cleanliness when building the bike! Keep on rolling mate. Cheers from Adrian (we do both have a great name)
To my surprise Kawasaki still make and sell lots of the parts even the rear seat pad/bump that was only for this model. The bike actually came will all the original parts on the bike, I had them professionally finished (painted/blasted but no power-coat). Small details such as faring bolts and fasteners are all new from Kawasaki (no point in messing about with reconditioning when Kawasaki still sell them new), the small details make all the difference.
I didn’t. I like my bikes to be perfect, the bike was originally in great condition but most importantly for a rare bike, it had all the original parts. I wanted this bike to be immaculate, like new and original condition, the only way to do that is to employ the help of professionals. The professionals were chosen very carefully, quality was chosen over budget.
excellent work friend I have one that I am going to start to restore but I am missing the user manual, if you have it and you can send it to me I would appreciate it
Paint including frame, swing-arm, wheels £1800. Other consumable and service parts cost about £1000, this included a complete fork rebuild, all the bearings, break pads and electro plating etc…. Total was around £3000 Sterling and I did all the stripping down and reassembly myself, this doesn’t include any carburettor work, that would cost you about £500-£1000 extra, also I left the rear shock as it was. Please remember that I wanted a complete high end factor finish, I’m not the sort of person to settle for any miss matched colour panels or powder coated wheels.
@@adrianharlen not cheap, but a great result. I’m going to try and restore my zxr750 in the Netherlands. Hope it will turn out as great as yours. Thanks for your reply. Any tips before I start?
Looks fantastic, very beautiful. Curios in your frame as did you paint it and if so what colour code did you use? I am in the process of restoring my 96 rr n1 and the frame has your typical rub marks and i am on the fence on painting it.
The frame is painted, because it came like that from the factory and I wanted a factory finish. All the early ZXR750s have painted frames, the H, J, L and Homologation Models K and M. I think It might have changed with the introduction of the P and Homologation N model in 96. I had all of the paint done professionally by racepaintuk.com, I would not recommend spraying it yourself, especially as it's a limited edition N model and Powdercoat will not match the original colour. If you really need the paint codes, the best site to use is; www.rsbikepaint.com/en-gb/colours.php, if it's a bare frame you could take it to a metal finisher such as; www.briteworx.co.uk, Harry finished my Top Yoke or contact Ben at www.vapourworx.co.uk
You are correct, the J is a 1991 - 1992. In the UK the H1 and H2 was the older shape 1989 - 1990, this is the ZXR750R K1 (1992) which is the homologation (race bike) of the J1 and J2 models. In the US it’s called the ZXR750RR K1 or ZX7RR K1
i was the very lucky buyer of this bike from Adrian , its a real credit to him and his work . its now part of a growing collection of mine .
Hi Paul
I am looking for one also
Can you tell me how much I can expect to pay for a similar one?
Thanx

Absolute dreambike when i grew up, they still rank way up there for me.
Immaculate! Love it....had one of these 20+ years ago and loved it then!! This brings back great memories!
Thanks for keeping another ZXR alive
Unbelievably gorgeous. IMO, the prettiest super bike ever made. Twin Koito’s to die for. Can’t wait for mine soon!
Loved this passion and effort in the build. Perfect end result.

Bravo!!
One of the Best videos of ZXR!❤
Great rebuilding of a great bike. Scott Russell made his name on K1.along with John Reynolds.
Seen this video 100 times and its still so impressive. I'll hopefully be doing the same to mine this Winter or next.
I'm glad that you enjoyed it! Good luck with your project.

Fantastic !! had a1992 model myself put around 7000 miles on it sold it about 13 years ago for just under 10,000 US.
Qué pedazo de maquinon! Qué estética bella tiene, una de las Kawasaki más lindas qué se han fabricado

If that's what you call "needs some TLC", I'd hate to see what you call "needs a full rebuild........... Gorgeous bike!
I love it. My first new bike 1993 zx7. I would love to get one back. One thing though .for the street . Ergonomics would kill me but I would endure it

Wow, gorgeous bike--I want one. I'm currently restoring my 88 GSXR 750.
I would like to see that, I did a restriction on a GSXR750J (1989) about 20 years ago and I want to do another one.
