Kawasaki ZX-7R P5 Rescue. Discovered in a shed after sitting for 12 years! (Pics at the end of film)

- Full restoration of my genuine 'barn find' 2000 year Kawasaki ZX7r P5.
I rescued this bike in November 2019 from a damp junk filled outbuilding here in the UK where it had been sat rotting away for 12 years crushed behind a rusty VW camper van, The bike was entangled in ivy and buried under an old mattress and boxes of old car parts and rubbish.
I love the 80/90's Kawasaki inline fours, both ZXR's and ZX7R's. I've previously owned an L3 and P7.
I couldn't bare to think of this bike corroding into dust, I had to save it!
After numerous attempts to convince the owner he should let me have it he eventually gave in, It took three of us 2 hours to remove it from its automotive tomb.
It's only had the one owner and showed 23k on the clocks.
I believe it had been well looked after up until it was 'not so carefully' garaged.
After 12 years sat dormant the oil still looked clean when drained, every bolt but one came undone without shearing or rounding off, every bearing and linkage had also been well greased.
What an incredible work you have done! Fantastic choice on the paint scheme as well, certainly one of the best for this bike!

I did a complete restauration (full Engine as well) on my 1995 ZX7 L3 here in Brazil. It was the most satisfying thing to bring back such a LOOKER from being one foot in the grave, to now turning heads again, AND SHE TURNS HEADS, believe me. I had bad warm starting traced back to a Pulsing coil unit on the crank-end. My carbs took me forever to get them finally running right but this bike is after all a labour of love, and the whole emissions gubbins was missing at the rebuild start ( it took some research just to work out what was missing). I call her my poor mans Ferrari and she does absolutely fly, everything is manual and it's a great handling bike. Putting 210 Kph on a bike that you know every single nut and bolt, and every adjustment done on the rebuild IS A FANTASTIC and unique FEELING. I recommend it to anyone contemplating doing the same; real therapy.
Zx7r one off the best bikes ever made, well done! Had my self an 1998 zx7r... Keep up the good work.

Very well done on the restoration and the video. Excellent stuff. The previous owner did a very good job at wrecking it as they are very robust bikes.
I had a P5 in black, silver, yellow and it was a great road bike. Jacking the rear up fully on the adjuster quickened the steering significantly but the bike retained its rock solid stability. Loads of feel from the front end gave great confidence when pushing hard.

Top class restored bike dere. Well done. I think the zx7r was and still is one of the nicest looking bikes to come out of Japan. Still looks great after 26 years since first launched.

Fantastic job.. great to see the bike saved rather than just left to rot or broken. Low miles too, 22k and all original including exhaust 💚👍🏼

I just bought an 05 zx10r with 23k. Is that considered low miles I thought it was high for a bike.
Best Looking Kawasaki Ever made, had mine for less than 2 weeks, had to Swap it back for my ZX6 G2 which was still in the Shop, Basically, I was too Stretched out on it for a Half Decent Ride, Lost a Lot of Money that Week.
They are worth the pain from the riding position 😁

Awesome restoration to an awesome classic. I owned one of each Gen back in the day and was lucky to get a test ride on the RR of this model (actual race homol bike) while mine was being serviced. Only downside was it's weight, but I reduced that with removing stock bits like exhaust, fitting Harris race clips/rear sets etc. Absolutely love this bike even in 2022 even though I'm on a RSV4 now. Fantastic work. A real gem. I'm picking up my ZX7R tomorrow. This should be my motorcycle for the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Driving fast is the priority. Appearance is secondary.

thanks a lot Paul ,I agree they are fantastic bikes. I owned a 7r back in 2000 but went on to buy newer faster bikes over the years like most of us do. I always wish I could have afforded to keep my original 7 as well as owning the newer bikes, hence why I just had to buy and save this one. I use it most days in good weather and feel pretty proud to be riding it tbh :)

race/endurance bikes don't have mirrors which is the look I was chasing, unfortunately riding on UK roads require the use of a mirror to stay alive , keeps the bikes lines looking nicer than fitting the huge black stick out ears.

These bikes are so much sexier than these days modern bikes. I've got a ZX7R P3 (green/white) wich is all original. I also have a ZXR750 L1 ((green/white/blue) wich I completly rebuilded with a ZX10R engine, forks and swinarm from the 2004 in it. Bonkers!!!

Excellent job, especially the exhaust and paint scheme....I run a standard P7 and try to keep that as immaculate as I can, although there are now a few bits than need some tlc! Keep up the good work and keep rocking the Ninja!
Thanks mate. My ZX had another MOT a week ago which it passed of course :) The inspector said he hardly see's any ZX7s anymore so it's important we keep these old girls on the road, I'd love a nice standard bike like yours in my garage, Ride safe man.
