Gorgeous beast, I own a ZXR 400 and love it. It's great to see that your age is not stopping you from going for this kind of bike. It's never too late, congrats!
I'm with you on that one Jeremy...the 90's bikes had more of a rawness and hooliganism about them!!...and I really regret getting rid of my ZXR750 H2 a few years ago...
It's just my opinion, but you see always dsee old, and young guys on a Harley/cruiser, but you seldom see a ( young at heart) old guy on a sportbike. I love it! Almost 50 here, and I'll keep sportbiking till i cant. And if I cant...well i'll still have one in the garage to reminisce . :)
Beautiful bike. I have the J1 1991 version, even today these bikes are still near the top of a lot of riders' "most liked" list of bikes. My carbs need rebalancing though, running very rough with an uneven idle. Also runs worse when hot due to excess air....
I've since spent some time refining the carb setup. It now runs cleanly all the way up to the red line and howls like a P51 Mustang at about 8000. Love it
i have a first generation zx6r 1996 f2 stainless steal headers, micron race can ,jetted, k and n air filter still on the road ,the rare green and white colours, dyno jet stage 2.
Your K1 is very similar to my old bike which I regrettably PX'd in 1998 i only say that because mine also had a blue seat which i haven't seen on any other K1. My old K1 reg was A2XRR . Has the callipers been changed or painted on your bike because UK standard K1's had gun metal grey colour twin pots on the front and same colour single on the back.
Could be, who knows!? That original rego would like have been sold before I got it. Yes, calipers should be gunmetal, but they were in a shocking state and a)I didn't have any grey paint and b) I like the gold look!
@@garyprior6995 i've just looked up your old rego and it still exists on a ZXR750R. Last MoT was in 2010, so sitting quietly somewhere slowly deteriorating, I guess
@@nigelburch9388 Don't know if your aware the K1 has a smaller battery then the normal J1 in that it is fiscally smaller and is only 8Amph instead of 10 as the J1 has. This means it only ever just about keeps a charge when you run the bike and go's flat quick if you don't run it. I'm mentioning it because i saw you had a bit of trouble starting in your vid. Kawasaki did this to save weight and space under the seat as the bike was meant for racing most racers had more than one battery. The only down side is if the battery does not have sufficient volts/Amps the bike wont run well because when the throttle is open past 3/8 of a turn or 5000 rpm the fuel accelerator pump doesn't work correctly. The pump runs a fuel enrichening circuit to the flat slide carbs.
@@nigelburch9388 Absolutely.. I have had 3 over the years. I bought one new all the back in 1990.. where does the time go?? 🙈 This'll be my 5th bike in the garage - space is getting tight! 😄👍

I want one of these. is beautiful the problem is. I am 16 yo and I have no experience with motorcycles. not even being a passenger What I can do? I do not want a 125 even knowing that it is the most obvious and least stupid option. Can I have a 125 to learn and have one of these as secondary motorcycle? what dou you recommend? thanks to whoever reads this
dont do it, its way to much bike for you. Get a cbr500 or something like that to practice on and still have fun. Don't get the end game bike while you don't know anything about them.......................
You must learn on an easy bike, you'll better focus on what it takes to stay healthy when riding. Pick up a Honda cbr500 as suggested. It's a cool bike that you just may want to keep forever. Even a big cc scooter can teach you the ways of the road. You're young and have all the time in the world. Don't rush motorcycles.
It sounds like it’s been sat around for a bit & a pilot jet has blocked, I find chucking in a decent fuel system cleaner & taking for a run sorts that one out before you go stripping the carbs out
Absolutely gorgeous! Where's the love button? I plan to be your age and still rockin' a sports bike! I'm 50 and still ride my R1 daily.
I am 55 and ride a Fireblade 👍👍👍

Ah the classic wiggle and push the key in a 90s Japanese bike to get it in the run position! 🧡 Gorgeous bike!
When you know you know 😀
Beautiful Bike! Like old bikes, and special Kawasaki Ninja ZX7R/ ZX6R.
Good to see a older man still riding rockets
I have owned 2 like this one. We call it ZXR 750 RR.
Their carburetors are different than basic ZXR models
