    If you have a driving test and you are on a 30mph road and you drive at 10mph you fail your test, the law says you should not slowing cars behind you, its dangerous, its crazy that is not the case for bikes as well.

    • @him5695

      It is, bikes cannot deliberately impede traffic, but some copper said give them half a mile when you overtake, but who's got a tapemeasure? would love to see some clever lawyer take this all the way and people stop just 'accepting' fines because they're scared of losing their livelihoods in court!

      This is exactly how I failed my driving test first time with 0 minors. It was considered a major, thus a fail. (No cyclist involved. The speed change made me fail. I think it changed to a 40 or 60, and I was going 30 for about 20 seconds before realising)

      @gmg96 6 місяців тому

      @thirdman1851 the biker was in the wrong. He was just la-de-da-ing in the middle of the road instead of moving to the side!
      It probably wasn't even as close as the videos makes it out to be. A different angle will show he's well clear of the biker. Just look at the football over the weekend, different perspectives make all the difference. The ball was clearly over the line and out of play for Newcastle, yet if you change the angle and look down the goal line, they will claim it stayed in.
      The biker is at fault, this should be easily argued in a court setting with the driver winning

    All cyclists should be compelled to take and pay for a DVLA test. It's a shame Essex Poice do not take action against bad cyclists for example when they cycle along the nearside of vehicles not keeping the 1.5 m distance. Not all cyclists are bad just most of them.

    I see a cyclist purposely riding in the middle of the road for who knows how long because the video is conveniently not long. The car behind has probably been trying to overtake for ages and he saw a spot that did not cause the cyclist any harm. "Self employeed" cyclist has nothing to do with his life and goes riding on busy roads to farm clips. That's all folks. I think your collective responsibility view here is nonsense. This cyclist no more represent me than you do with your poor analysis of their clip. The riders position was clear and consistent, if you or the driver doesn't like it you still must hold back and not endanger people with an (at best) poorly judged overtake.

      @popuppeat7549 He doesn't represent me, I am a considerate cyclist. The unfortunate fact is that people do tarnish a group on the actions of a few, always have and always will. Regardless, i am not saying he wasn't clear or consistent or that he was breaking any laws/rules of the road, only that it was unnecessary. Nor am i suggesting the person driving the porsche was in the right to do what they did, they were not, they were an ass. My point is that just because you have the right does not make it sensible.

      The right lane was clear but the car just didn't use enough of it. At the point of the pass he/she was cycling in a normal position , meter or so from the curb. , there is no point in moving left between the parked cars if their is nothing behind. ( & in this case ulikely as the car would have passed sooner). The car needs the right lane clear to pass so cyclist road position isn't a factor.

    By law now cars have to be so wide from you now to go past so if you are in the middle of the road there is no chance at all for those who pay for the roads to get past, very soon people in cars will kill people on bikes, I have no problem at all if someone on a bike is going at the speed of that road, but most of the time, even on 60 miles an hour roads people on bikes and going at 10 miles an hour, which is taking the piss off the cars behind that bike, waiting for a chance to pass that bike, so if you want to ride around like saying to people in cars FUCK YOU, then what comes is down to you, those people on bikes also drive cars and get angry with people on bikes doing what they do on bikes, its all very well to say people need to calm down, yes, but people have a lot of shit in they lives and some of them are full of that after taking shit from everyone, so it will happen and when it does understand Makecyclingsafe again you did not help this, if you dont have concern for those behind you why should they have any concern for you?

      You know when you use the other lane to pass a driver & if no room you wait, that's the same you do when overtaking someone cycling, it's called basic driving standards to have a driving licence. Perhaps if you struggle with the basics, you stop driving altogether.

      That's allot of words for a simple clip. Seems like you are talking about a wider group of people than just this cyclist. It seems to have dulled your observation skills. The cyclist was passing parked cars and maintains a position to avoid being doored. They are moving in as they pass the last vehicle a few second wait is all that's needed until it's safe to pass. Try approaching clips in a more detached way, you are more likely to see the important details that way and your opinion will be taken more seriously if it does contain extraneous comments (pay for the rd's etc)

    Bad lane control by the push bike rider who could have moved towards the kerb between those parked cars, does not justify such a close pass but illustrates the need for push bikers to be considrrate and not hold up other vehicles causing frustration to motor vehicle drivers. Conversely selfish motor vehicle drivers need to stop weaponising their vehicles. We all need to shsre the roads and keep safe.

    No. The cyclist is wrong here 100%. What the porsche driver did, was no different to what the fiat did. The problem was that you were being an inconsiderate rider, biking in the middle of the road when you could have pulled way over to the kerb, YOU WERE BLOCKING THE ROAD AND PREVENTING THE OVERTAKE FROM HAPPENING SAFELY, THIS IS YOUR FAULT.
    If you are going to be THIS inconsiderate and selfish towards drivers, then use the bloody path. Much safer for everyone! Drivers pay road tax to create cycle lanes and you don't even use them most of the time!!! If you're gonna be an idiot like that, then just stay off the road and stay on the footpath!
