- After a close pass van driver pulls over to rage. The incident was reported, but before police spoke to driver, he deliberately intimidated cyclist on two further occasions by driving very close and giving no space when passing.
That looks like an insecure load on that lorry, don't think I'd be that close!
Hope springs eternal.... Get that rear camera running!
2:51 "this seems deliberate" ,,,,,, to 5:00 did I miss something?
1:55 Probably the shortest "cycle lane" in the world
The shortest cycling lane i have seen is in Boldon Tyne & Wear it is about 5 foot long, they even put an end of cycle lane at the end of it.
it's so cars can pass safely and this guy didn't use them arrogance what reaction does he expect when driving in the middle of the road not allowing people to pass
@@geordieholmes6211 Sorry, what "cycle lane"? All I see is a bit of paint on the road, too small and too short for a motorist to pass him while driving in a normal speed. That's not arrogance, it's safety.
It doesn't matter how short or long cycle lanes are. These complaining cyclists never use them.
Rule 72
Road positioning. When riding on the roads, there are two basic road positions you should adopt, depending on the situation.
1) Ride in the centre of your lane, to make yourself as clearly visible as possible, in the following situations
on quiet roads or streets - if a faster vehicle comes up behind you, MOVE TO THE LEFT to enable them to overtake, if you can do so safely
in slower-moving traffic - when the traffic around you starts to flow more freely, move over to the left if you can do so safely so that faster vehicles behind you can overtake
at the approach to junctions or road narrowings where it would be unsafe for drivers to overtake you
2) When riding on busy roads, with vehicles moving faster than you, allow them to overtake where it is safe to do so whilst keeping at least 0.5 metres away, and further where it is safer, from the kerb edge. Remember that traffic on most dual carriageways moves quickly. Take extra care crossing slip roads.
Why is it allright for you to move to close to vehicals and when 1 so much as gets to close to you its a traffic vialation you do not help the situation like at the end of the video you moved over the the road markings in the middle and pressured a car into a close pass when he couldnt stop or move to the left it seems like your playing half a game of chicken with them
Practice what you preach, is my advice.
I wonder why he doesn't use the cycle lanes?
@@andrewallen9993 cause then he can't make this fake outrage video's, and that's the whole personality of cyclists
@@fpser4888spot on. And they jump red lights, think they don’t need to obey Highway Code
You need a rear view camera!
Yep - I actually have one, but it only records for a few seconds. Maybe its the SD card, but I need to sort that out.
@@TheAlwinner It's one of my bugbears; temperamental cameras which don't work when they are supposed to.
Hmm - you appear to spend a long time in the primary position early on in the video before approaching the lights. Perhaps that’s what has annoyed the van driver.
@Nigel Buckham it’s 33 seconds from the start of the video to stopping at the lights where the cycle is in the centre of the lane. No I don’t drive an Audi
@@tmahe28 it probably has but it doesn’t give van driver the right to put another road users life at risk. He’s a pathetic man child.
You didn't give that cyclist 1.5 m in the opening few seconds
“I’m a f’ing cyclist. I know how close to get”, was his excuse, even though he was close enough for me to tap his wing mirror…
ua-cam.com/video/ZP4QCaxzNWQ/v-deo.html
1:09 not actually anything wrong, was able to pull out onto main road without causing cyclists to slow down, traffic continues to flow, sometimes I come across these types of situations and ready to slow down if needed if helps keeps the flow going we have to work together on the roads help each other out to keep the flow of traffic running smoothly
Disagree
The issue was not the little dump truck, the issue was when the cyclist was behind the dump truck he was being tailgated by the rage van. This is very common, I only take the lane when keeping pace with traffic, and it is shocking how often the car behind jumps on my back wheel
@@nelchwrong
Tx usa cars do that to us........
This is an electric bike, i assume. Looks like you are traveling at about 25 mph. Not sure how much deference you expect out there on these narrow roads, but i bet some of the encounters were made more risky given the relative high speed of the e-bike.
Not really . If anything it makes it easier as you are less of an inconvenience
Speaking as a long time cyclist, the faster I go the safer I feel. Obviously there's exceptions to the rule, but wobbling around at 5mph only seems to enrage drivers. Going faster means you can be a smooth part of the traffic, as this rider is doing.
Thanks for the complement. I’m totally self propelled. As someone else points out, faster cycling in traffic is often safer.
Isn't there a legal limit on electric bikes at 16mph the others are illegal, correct me if I'm wrong
I’ve no idea whether electric bikes have speed limiters as I don’t own one. Surely roads would be safer if motorists had speed limiters.
is that bike legal ???
Why wouldn't it be?
@@hardcoretam They're supposed to be limited to 15.5mph on UK roads. Is he doing 15.5mph here?
@@MRFUCKOFF202 Limited to 15.5mph with electric assistance. i'm unfit and obese and can hit and maintain 24mph for a short time on a regular bicycle Someone semi fit andight could hit 30. You can clesrly see the bicycle swaying side to side from them cycling.
@@hardcoretam Oh I see
@@MRFUCKOFF202 is tailgating legal . Is using your car as a weapon legal
What the hell was that last move before you turn the camera off. Looked like you were stopping in the middle of the road on a green light so you could illegally ride on the pavement. That is not a junction or turn in the road. How do you expect drivers behind to know you were gonna pull a stunt like that! Very dangerous/stupid. I bet the oncoming driver shit himself aswell thinking you were just gonna cut across. Just looks like you are trying to piss people off behind you with your lane position. You just can't pull a manoeuvre like that on public roads.
Cyclist think they don't need to adhere to the same laws of the road.
It's obvious you have been winding that van driver up.
Video taken by an utterly selfish cyclist who doesn't use the cycle lanes where they are present as that prevents him from slowing huge quantities of traffic behind him?
So to recap.. First van pulls over.. wow... are there any parking restrictions..no..has it crossed your mind he had arrived at there destination.. no... can't say that..not as dramatic. Next cyclists spits dummy out as flatbed van pulls out of side road with plenty of time and stops at a red light preventing cyclist from ignoring the red light ..how dare that van driver comply with the law.
First incident. So if a van overtook your car and then immediately pulled over and stopped. the driver having reached their destination, you'd regard this as acceptable driving?
@@southwirralcyclist1986 roads arethere for everyone..not just cyclist..
@@richardoakley8800 I totally agree. For the most part, the law and highway code are the same for drivers and cyclists. In particular, the space a driver should allow for a cyclist is the same as that for a car and hence a cyclist should be overtaken as if they occupied the same space as a car.
In the first incident in this video, the van driver treated the cyclist in a way that, had he done it to another driver, the other driver would have found unacceptable. All cyclists are asking for is parity with vehicle drivers when on the road.
So to recap, first van driver is a selfish bellend and a terrible driver. Second one, pick up pulls out and causes cyclist to have to slow down to avoid hitting them...more shit driving.
And then we have you...another shit driver. If you were a good driver, like me, you wouldn't make excuses for shit drivers. The only people who can't identify shit driver are other shitty drivers.
For someone who is so concerned about safety, you appear to regularly create situations and put yourself at risk. Perhaps if you varried ir wire identifying marks whilst cycling, you might find yourself being reported to police. As would so many other cyclists.
I find it really ironic you were complaining about driver being too close to cyclists who may have to make a emergency stop when you did the exact same with the truck, I guess it’s the typical one rule for a cyclist and one rule for everyone else, you need to be consistent
hammer and the hand rule slap your hand on a lump hammer then hit your hand with the lump hammer try it and let me no how your hand feels
There is about a tonne and a half of difference between those two examples you gave lol.
Victim blaming... love it.
this cyclist is being a nuisance why us he in the middle of the road and not using cycle lanes so cars can pass
Primary position, used for safety and too prevent 'squeeze' passes
@@LiamK8 😂🤣😂 but cars are going to pass regardless... so if anything that's more dangerous
@@geordieholmes6211 Ah you see, that forces the drivers to make the decision as if passing a car rather than a bike. Forcing them to decide if they really have enough space & time to move over into the other carriageway. If it isn't safe, they will think twice rather than risking a squeeze pass
@@LiamK8Liam, you definitely wear lycra with phrases like that . How's the lettuce tasting today ?
Cycle on the paths like normal people...jk
Probably shouldn’t be cycling in middle of road, I know your allowed but you’ll enrage a lot of drivers and will get this situation again
He wasn't cycling in the middle of the road, he was cycling in the middle of the lane which you admit he is entitled to do. If other motorists require counseling to control their tempers, then that is not the fault of the cyclist either. The cyclist is cycling to Government Guidelines, if you don't like those guidelines contact your MP - Don't put people at risk by being stupid. Any vehicle is only allowed to overtake if it is safe to do so, why some motorists think a pinch point is the ideal place to overtake is beyond comprehension. Then after doing a stupid overtake because they are so busy getting somewhere, they then pull over and suddenly no longer in a hurry, they want to get out and have a chat. It's time people like you stopped blaming the victim.
@@bradfordzone5187 "Victim" mentality. Oh, whoa is me. "Government Guidelines?" oohohohohohooohohoo...... next story you will tell us is that all government officials are arseholes. hahahahahahahahaaahahahahaaaaahahaahaaaa
He wasn’t, was in the primary position in the lane, if another driver wishes to overtake they can still do so like they were overtaking another car driver, most good cyclists will at the same time move over towards the left to give the driver more room to overtake safely then cyclist will move back into the centre of the lane
If you stick to the left of the road, all you are doing is enabling drivers to overtake without changing lane, whilst there is oncoming traffic. They'll do this and happily pass you with about 0.5m or less to spare.
The only way to prevent them is to cycle in the middle of the road.
@@hardcoretam
0.5m (nearly 20") might not be ideal but it's also not my idea of dangerous.
If you stepped into the road & a bus missed you by 20". Would you think you'd had a lucky escape? 🤔
Cyclist's should cycle on the lanes provided and get insurance and number plates like the rest of use and stop complaining and running red lights
No one cares. Cycling is freedom. You can keep your insurance, government control, pollution and road rage, we don't want it and don't need it
and when we say 'insurance', we mean road risk not just personal liability.
