Robots are already removing jobs and that's a good thing. Efficiency goes up, quality goes up, costs go down, and goods become cheaper. The question is going to be who is going to be allowed to benefit from their "work". The truth is that everyone has to have an income or nothing will get purchased. Economies are consumer driven so there has to be consumers (ie. peeps with cash they don't need to spend on their rent or water bills). I figure that if enough robots remove enough consumers from the economy, then governments are going to have to heavily redistribute income via "basic income" schemes. The more profits wind up in few hands, the more those hands set themselves up to be the bill payers for the rest of us. This is already happening with the current US tax system.
How do you remove consumers from an economy? By eliminating their jobs and therefore their income? Perhaps people will start bartering or trading things for favours or services instead?
You can't be part of the economic system of modern countries using barter all the time. Governments want you using currency because it's easier to tax. Everything about the system is designed so you have to pay, pay, pay. Govnmnt would be happy to have top 1% pay the bills but those are exactly the people who have the means to leave the country and take their money and assets with them.
You have to remember that (at least in the US) you can't actually own anything. If you check the constitution of most states, they reserve the right to tax everything you own. They're just "nice" enough to exempt personal items up to a set amount. If you don't pay your taxes, they come take your sh*t. Because it's theirs. You're just borrowing it. So you have to pay, pay, pay to be part of society.
No-one said barter all the time right now. Merely offered the possibility that if the situation you envision actually happened, that robots create a world where there is no more currency and no more jobs, that the economy will still exist in some form; probably in the form of bartering goods and/or trading services. That's all I'm saying.
Plus, the government reserving the right to tax, does not mean there is no right to private ownership of the individual. These are two different things. Paying your taxes is an obligation as part of this society. You still have property rights, but if you're not meeting your legal duty, the government then have a right to dip into your assets and take what is owed to run the country on your behalf. This is not the same as not having property rights. You're not borrowing anything at all. You must be thinking of Russia.
Not sure where you're getting your theory from. You type a lot, but don't actually say that much and you're wrong on a bunch of things.
I believe if you truly own anything then no one has any right to do anything with it but you. Which means the government can't just decide it wants to tax it and then take it away. They'd have to bill you and follow a collections process (possibly reaching a criminal court situation) instead of automatically putting a lean on your property.
And I disagree that taxes are an obligation. Paying taxes is a transaction like any other and is part of a social contract that people have with their government. Just because the government says the contract is iron-clad and you have to pay doesn't make it so. We fought a revolution over this remember?
Basically, if others can do what they want with your property without your consent, then you have no real control over it. Which to me means you don't "own" it. Which is also why I hate Eminent Domain laws.
I'm old fashioned so I hate robots and if there are robots all around America I'm going back to my home town on top of mountain of Thailand.
Cheemeng Xiong I'm from Thailand too~ XD
And will you have robot servants to carry your luggage for you? :P
Nope I hate robot and also this could not carry on my generation to my grandchildren.
i dont want robots to do anything for me xD
Catherine P they already do though.
Having a job provides a person a sense of purpose or value. Some members of our society such as the mentally challenged need more routine jobs to exist so that they can feel a sense of contribution or accomplishment.

Robots taking over jobs could start another Great Depression
Robots should be teachers.
We all have one thing in common, the same 24 hours. Robots give us more time to do what we want/need to do. Congrats on 600,000+ subscribers!
The main thing is how to re-skill and find new employment for people being replaced...
You couldn't really have painters, musicians, writers to be replaced by robotic processes either - so maybe there is a future in the arts?
lol you guys are so hilarious
I'm pretty torn on the soldier one. On one hand, a robotic soldier would significantly cut down on human casualties, on both sides. I'm sure things would be more precise in terms of combat, meaning less overall destruction. Also, you can repair a robot and send it back into combat, versus a human soldier, if their legs get blown off, you can't exactly just weld on some new ones and send them back out there.
On the other hand, assuming robotic soldiers would be programmed primarily for combat, there are situations where a human would be better. You can't avoid civilians being in a combat zone, and whereas a robot would simply take care of the threat and leave, what would happen to any injured or trapped civilians? I think there's a higher chance that a human soldier would take initiative to recover them rather than leave them. There's also a diplomatic side of war, and a human could potential diffuse the situation with words over violence, whereas I see a robot soldier just taking care of it as efficiently as possible, which might just be taking them out.
That's just my opinion, though.
This video makes me want to watch a robot movie, like I robot
btw what about the infamous bermuda triangle.... if a robot pilot would fly thru that area... it may cause the machine to go haywire..... even with human error that still will be a major travesty either way u chose ur reasoning...
CHICKEN SALAD? nonononono i get a cheeseburger DELUXE! i love meh burgers ^w^
Huh omg was that LuHan?!?! Honestly I'm scared of such things.... I don't want robots to take over :(
Uhhh ... Planes are already mostly automated. In fact, the plane can actually do every thing automatically, it is often the case that a pilot assumes control out of desire and not necessity.
But what about robot maintenance engineers?

We should do all our work by ourselves and I want no robots I hate robotic world!!! 😠😡😤 I think that there should only be machines but never ever robots!! If we give robots more opportunities to do work for us, I am sure One Day they will take Advantage of It and become more smarter and they will be able to capture the whole human world also they may make humans their slaves and servants. So why are we inventing them?? Stop it robots I JUST HATE YOU. This is our world, you don't have the right to ........😇😇😇😇 So I Request my dear friends to not stay in a robotic world instead stay in a peaceful, beautiful, pleasant, calm and positive human world😊😊😊😊😊😊😊💝💝💝💝
This is the question I have been wanting to ask. If there are plans to make robots that can take over millions of jobs from people, it means that high-tech industry has been doing R&D on building robots for quite some time now, perhaps at the start of sci-fictions, why don't they have robots that can do the work and fix the problems in very serious environmental disasters such as Fukushima, nuclear accidents, oli spills? Fukushima is still leaking (pouring) tons of radioactive water into the ocean and have now reaching the U.S. West Coast for over two years. We need to stop focusing on trivial robotic applications and look at something that is useful and practical.
1:08 omg LuHan 😍👌
Not just westworld. I robot already thought of that, and it was like, 10 years ago. Talking about the movie. If we talk about the books... that's a different story
Oh well we all be fat...
Chan Thawng just think Wall-E.I robot or terminator for doomed aspects of our life.
Chan Thawng On the other hand, i think people will have more time to do activities and gym. no more bullshit reasons to be fat and not having enough time
Chan Thawng That's exactly what I thought 👌
Funnyguyfun7 But that is right too...
The introduction of robots with AI will remove most jobs done by humans. Manual labour; White collar eg Accountants etc; Service industries and such. If you are using Westworld as an example then the humanised robots/androids can assume any role based on programming and subsequent much more rapid learning capabilities. A true AI would even be able to learn to be creative, replacing artists, musicians and writers. UA-camrs might be one of the few positions that people could occupy that an AI android might not be able to fit. This would be based on people wanting to listen to other people.
robots can synthesize instincts and make emotions out of their control so it will be as "real as a human"
I VOTE CYBORGS or remote control with vr
Not all, just the jobs nobody wants.
I am a software engineer student. so for sure its an advantage for me if i become more important and more in need in the society. To be honest I think living in a world where most jobs are replaced by robots, everyone will have more time to enjoy their life and have more time for activities do everything u want and having everything for free. everything will be for free since the system of money is no longer needed. It will be like living in paradise. But i am pretty sure this will not happen or it wil be far far away from now.
but i have to admit that i dont like the idea that humans don't need to have some struggle in their life anymore.
I think im more worried about fake accounts. These are the bad bots.
sports doesnt serve a purpose, except entertainment so i dont see them classified in the right way here.
hi
One more comment about robotic precision. Yes. They can get super super precious but they need calibration from human beings who created them. correct me if I'm wrong.
I personally don't think there is an absolute. Like, if I need a care taker, please let a robot do some. Like, I'm a tiny person, so if my elderly grandma or something falls, like, the hell can I do? It would be nice to have a robot carry her or something.
Also, elevators are 'technically' robots. So should we not have them? One could argue all technology 'are' robots. So like, why not have both?
Will they lead religious organisations too? Coz that would be funny as hell!
Futurama?
"I'll always remember you, Fry. MEMORY DELETED" - Lucy Liu-bot
I want a robot teacher. They are not freaking your freaking second parents!Plus my teachers are jerks.
surgeons take risks
robots might not
One question I have for you three. Between human and robot who do you think is smarter?
ha lo
Robots store information like a flashdrive. Humans forget things instantly. If I was a robot I can finish medical school in just 1 day.
What would you do for money if the robots took all the jobs, What live on social security and how would you support that many people. Even in the future you need money so the rich and large corporations live well and the gap widens even more between the rich and the poor.
And another thing with so much electronics in our lives how long before hacking affects everything or corrupts systems.
blueman4444444 get rid of money problem solved
+Clorox Bleach yeah you could but ask yourself would what system would take it's place barter system like in Greece or credit/bit coins even if you decided to use hours worked for your profession as some sort of currency would you work for that instead of money either way it's the same thing and who controls it or sets the costs. There is no getting around it government has to tax it somehow no matter what system you put in place.
Then everything is free? No need $
my mom IS my teacher....i'm homeschooled :p
@douglas wahid how could a robot give birth to a baby? Or why would a robot adopt someone?
But honestly, do you really want robot to take over service industry? Let’s be honest and think this through. You will lose every right to complain since those robot probably won’t take any complains or suggestion or customisation or any form of personalised service.
I think people will need to be more educated. Small jobs will not exist and you will need to have third education at least to work at anything.
cec6607 robots will make life great again drain the cash enjoy life for free
Clorox Bleach
You're on every video. Get a life outside if UA-cam.
Lol, if the president ever becomes a robot, the Singularity will have officially begun.
Leave mbbs as quickly as u can ..don't waste ur time I am enjoying u will enjoy ur time too
Every job a human can do, a robot can be made to do it better, safer, quicker, more efficiently and more convenient. The only thing holding them back is price.
Capitalist economies that force people to either work or die in a market with rapidly decreasing job availability will inherently end with loss of human life.
Modern economic practices are not sustainable.
Mechanization will inherently require transition to a socialist economy of basic needs being met by the state and luxuries provided by competing private companies.
Sentient Machines will be the death of man.
If I told you, you can have a robot, it'll be just a little less intelligent than you, but there's a 1 in 10 chance it will kill you or a loved one, would you take me up on the offer?
Why would a machine accept such odds?
Sex robots?
BooOOOOoooOOOOoooOOOOooringgggggggg
Does this mean that Trump supporters wont get their job back?
If robot takes over human jobs, human will be jobless and in turn become homeless which will also mean that humans won't have spending power. Then who will the robots serve? Who will maintain the robots?
This is only a problem if the profit value generated by robots is paid solely to corporate owners. Work done generates money, whether by worker or robot(if they didn't, everything would be free, and we wouldn't need money). If that work was owned by the public, that work could be charged a wage, which could be paid as a dividend to the public as a universal basic income.
Don't confuse a problem of ownership/capitalism with a problem of technology.
Anna Lee why would you still need a money system lol. everything will be free
Funnyguyfun7 exactly people are just brainwashed into stupid paper useless money paper I'm excited for robots
But they will still need humans to service and maintain the robots in the case of a breakdown, not to mention coders and designers for new robot models. Ideally, humans will be able to reskill themselves and find new jobs in the robot age.
Then what happens to the people at the lower tier of society whose job got taken over by robots?
Technology is already taking over. Yet SOME people have the nerve to blame immigrants. You know who you are
Felicia 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Omg...Dan is back? Yes!!!
oh for Pete's sake.
Yes one day we can all just rest in peace lol I love this channel great video
Jaymister basically yeah lol I already am
No.. How does working as a pilot for example make you not fat? I mean yea soldiers.. but just because we replace humans with robots for bad jobs doesn't mean we're all gonna be fat. I mean, WORKOUT!
Eun Hi Kim I can't wait I'm so excited for robots it's time we enjoy life by doing things we enjoy doing
Clorox Bleach truuu let's just chill
Dan Viegas hah hahaha me working out, we have created "hoverboards" just so we don't have to walk, we created washing machines so we don't have to do it ouselves same with dishwasher and other things the world is becoming lazier and lazier lol
1:08 LUHAN OMGAWD 😂
Gina B.
hahaha u crybaby
america pastime sport will always be baseball.... yesss superbowl has more viewers cuz of 2 reasons... the super bowl party as a whole... and also the commercials cuz thats the main slot... many ppl hold parties n go to parties without even liking american football ><
shame on u dan!!!
robots should definitely take over food service people because they will get the order right and they will cook it right so you don't get sick. but the number one thing robots should replace humans in is store cashiers because I am sick and tired of the cashiers crushing my sushi. the other day the cashier put my sushi at the bottom of the bag I mean it should be common sense that it is delicate and needs to go on top so I hope robots replace cashiers
KFC robot prediction is just STUPID. How many variety does KFC have? This is just to draw kids to the store.
What about DMV workers???? Maybe the process would go quicker
awesome,really really interesting
and if the robot sees a black person it will suggest chicken wings
0:31 were ganna talk about that. Me: YO DONT BE STEALING FROM GMM
I know you're wearing extensions Felicia 😏
Short Answer: YES!
well, the way I see it is the world could only go forward not backwards.
I think only factory jobs should be replaced by robots.
only if money is eliminated
schmudge hopefully that useless paper will be gone eventually
