    I took a 6 month herbal course and decided to grow my own herbs so I was 100% sure I was using the actual herbs rather than trusting another source of herbs. So far I only use herbs that I would call culinary, but I started growing more varieties this year dehydrating many for future use as I learn more about how to safely use them. I don’t charge anyone! This is just for family and friends. So far everyone loves giving me feedback building my knowledge. Thank you for this video! Too many people play with herbs with their body without all the facts.

      its very true! I can't tell you HOW many times I have had a client complain about issues, show me what they are using and I can pinpoint EXACTLY what random thing in their formula is causing the problem. Once I had a VERY close family member go to the hospital becuase she was using a very toxic herb and I was SO annoyed because she never talked to me about it first. LIKE GUYS WE HAVE AN HERBALIST IN THE FAMILY THERE IS NO REASON.

      @@herbalistkristen Yes! My daughter had chapped lips for her wedding and refused to use the lip balm I made her, following advice of a friend putting makeup over them. Weeks later I mentioned the lip balm and I got “yeah, I have to find it”. Ugh! It’s a 3 room apartment so it didn’t go far.

    ❤Rewatched while packing a birthday bag for a friend. I baked her almond sourdough tea cookies, gave her 4 envelopes of home grown/blended tea, one home grown rose lavender loose tea, honey, clear mug, homemade lip balm, and homemade candle to help her relax. Where many buy presents, I put in time so she takes time to recharge. 😊

    That’s for the video. I love this breakdown of 1st-4th degree herbs! It s Avery useful way if categorizing them. I have to ask through, why is comfrey listed as a 4th degree herb?

      Internally there is some debate as to whether its safe on the liver. This is more of an "extreme caution" classification. I do sometimes use it internally but only in specific cases. Many herbalists will say different things but I lean towards lots of caution.

    I use wild lettuce (glycerin tincture) for knee pain. Does it fall into 4th degree? I stopped taking NSAIDs. It has really helped me. I, also, use comfrey as a salve. Could you do a tutorial on this. I do extensive research on these herbs/medicines.

    Love all your information in your videos. I have coltsfoots, alfalfa and st johns wort. Im not sure how to use them, do you have any resources?

    • @herbalistkristen
      @herbalistkristen  Місяць тому

      oh alfalfa is lovely + nourishing and can be used like nettle and st johns wort fresh is the best for nerve pain and mood lifting (but it interferes with pretty much every medication because it speeds up actions in the liver)

    Could you give a list of tinctures or teas you would recommend to help with menopause. I took my first tincture last year, recommended by my midwife and now am starting a different phase of my life. It's always interested me but was never confident.

    • @herbalistkristen
      @herbalistkristen  3 місяці тому +1

      I see such a huge need for more discussion on menopause but I will admit my limitations here in that I don't have a ton of experience and it will only be theoretical at this point. I do know that black cohosh, blue cohosh, and vitex come to mind but I have also worked with clients who have struggled with the effects of these herbs. Menopause seems to be one that is very volatile in terms of how herbs will work with a person. It is my intention to get more experience becuase I see many of my viewers are in the "menopause demographic." So I hope I can offer some support soon!
