Just starting to actually watch the reaction. My brother Frank and I (he was my younger-younger brother) absolutely loved Kenny Rogers. During his senior year in high school, he stayed with me in Soldotna, Alaska and finished school there (our parents and my other brother and our sister still lived in Valdez, Alaska). Frank brought with him ALL of his Kenny Rogers records & cassettes, and we both binged, daily. 😀 I know this song very well...love it! Another great song, that Kenny did shortly before he passed away, was with Home Free. Just check in on their channel, using Kenny's name for the search, there. You will LOVE the result...I promise. 😀 When I saw that pop up, the year that it was posted, it was the first time I had ever seen or heard Home Free, and it will forever be in my heart. When he sings the line, "...let me hold you in my arms, for...evermore..." I always answer, "Yes! PLEASE DO!" Just did it, and will never change my mind on that! (grin) I don't think there's a woman, anywhere, that ever think differently. 😀 Thank you SO much for reacting to this, Steven. Love Kenny Rogers music from when he was with the First Edition (60's-70's) to his solo career. He was a great story teller in many of his songs like "Coward Of The County" & "The Gambler". He had so many hits "Lucille", "Through the Years", "She Believes In Me", "You & I" (written by the Bee Gees) etc. He did a lot of duets such as with Kim Carnes "Don't Fall In Love With A Dreamer", with Sheena Easton "We've Got Tonight" & with Dolly Parton "Islands In The Stream". He also did quite a few duets with Dottie West.

Has such a beautiful tenor voice. Seen him once but it wasn't in concert. And I just gave him a smile and a nod of acknowledgment. He smiled broadly with the nod back . He was at Golden Hills Country Club. I brought my mother there for lunch and to show her my newly restored 67 Newport convertible. Kenny Rogers and Linda Evans were in Arizona filming The Gambler at the time. And I passed him by to buy Linda Evans a drink at the bar when I passed by Mr Rogers sitting by himself. He had already released this song a year or two earlier. Linda Evans graciously accepted the drink we exchanged a few words I went back to finish lunch. I've Been a Cowboy in my whole life and always dressed up in western clothes. Notice Mr Rogers watching us out to the extremely rare president sized convertible. Always wondered what went through his mind at the time.lol The golf course Resort community had many famous names. In the 70s I was not only a farrier but a locksmith as well. It was then I worked on changing the locks and installing deadbolts on Lorne Greene's replica of the Ponderosa that was within that Resort. I've had many careers which made my ranching/ country life possible. Sorry it's really unrelated to the song or really Kenny Rogers. But it is the memory this song provokes. By the way I was married with children at the time. It just seemed like the thing to do. 🚜🤠🐂

I think The Gambler is one of his early hits, also Coward of the County. My favorites are She Believes In Me and Don't Fall In Love With a Dreamer. Kenny is one of my dad's favorites so I grew up on him. He had a funky little rock band back in the 70s but his voice suits country much, much better.
At 1 concert shortly after the song Lady came out...Kenny was married to Marianne at that time and she had just had his son Christopher. He sang THIS song while a video of Christopher being born played...there was not a dry eye in the arena!! It was THE MOST beautiful thing to hear and see!! ❤❤

She had like 14 songs banned from Country radio & because they were, they became hit songs for her. Conway & Loretta were both singer/songwriters. There's so much l could tell you. Fun fact Lionel called up Kenny said he has a song he wrote for him which was at first called baby but when Kenny got to his home Lionel asked Kenny about how his wife is doing and every time Kenny would speak about her he kept saying my lady this and my lady that so when Kenny asked what the title of the song was called and Lionel without hesitation said Lady! I hate that we lost such a legend in this music industry and world especially during the pandemic! I wish he would’ve gotten the star send off like many before him and after him!
