Oh Amen brother, !! I'm a 70-year-old woman from the south and songs like these and artists just shows that it wasn't all about hate in the South back then. I ALWAYS listened to ALL kinds of music even back then. I mean of course I listen to country cuz I was from the country, BUT I also listen to rock, rhythm and blues, jazz, bluegrass and gospel. Hell there was even one opera singer by the name of Pavarotti that I would listen to. The one great thing that GOD gave us as the HUMAN was love. It "" IS "". In the Bible about people coming together and celebrating the joy of life through food, dance and music. "" MAYBE if the haters would read the Bible they would see that these are the things that God gave us to. "" Celebrate "" ALL LIFE. All music ( except for the few that promote hate and violence ). Comes from the heart and the soul. Lionel Richie and Kenny Rogers we're a great friends from the first time they met while Lionel Richie was with the Commodores. The wonderful love and deep respect they had for each other continue throughout their life until Kenny Rogers died. Many singers and songwriters had great respect and love for other artists through their shared love of music. I have watched this video many times. Every time it brings tears to my eyes, especially since Kenny has now passed. Two greats, Kenny and Lionel. I once watched a video on UA-cam with Lionel talking about them going on vacation together. It was hilarious. Lionel said "never again" lol.

You said it yourself, " im maturing" that was well said and you recognized true friendship those two iconic men never once looked at color they were brothers who loved each other in the truest sense of the word, i wish the entire world would all MATURE a little bit.
Growing up, my family only listened to Country Western music, so I didn't know there was any other kind of music. I had the biggest crush on Kenny, with that hair and his beard, and that VOICE. When I was 13, I got my own radio and started listening to other types of music, starting with Easy Listening. Daddy got orders for Nellis AFB in Las Vegas and there we went. i got a job at 15-1/2, receptionist for a precious metals firm 2 nights a week and 6 hours on Saturday. Lionel was on tour and he was coming to Vegas, so I bought my own ticket and went with my parents. IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!
I didn't find out until about 10 years ago that Lionel wrote a lot of Kenny's songs. I love them both.
My music tastes expanded to '80's Rock, to groups like Motley Crew, who were on tour and had a show 6 months later, the weekend after my 16th Birthday. I went to that one too!!! OMG!!!! SO INCREDIBLE!!!
The only other concert I've been to was The Judds Reunion Tour in Tacoma, WA.

Nomatter how many times I watch this video, I have the same reaction. I grew up listening to both of these talented gentlemen, and even went to see Kenny in concert three times back in the day. Great memories ! I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s, so they played lots of Lionel Richie and The Commodores at the highschool dances and proms. Both of them are true legends in the music world and I just admire them both so much. Not only for their amazing talent, but for their amazing chemistry on stage and the magic they produce when they sing together. But it’s more than just getting up on stage and singing. The bonds of friendship and admiration they had for each other, was written all over their faces. Every person in that audience and at home watching the video years later, could/can feel the love and energy they produced. Yes, these two old friends just make you wish that the song would never end ! This was a once in a lifetime performance that will be played time and time again, and it will never be equalled ! Thanks so much for doing this video !
