If you wanna add a little more low end torque, I added an AirRaid Throttle body spacer with my K&N Cold Air Intake. Also adds a nice whistle to your engine. they complement each other very well in my opinion.

Went with a volant cold air and it drop power and mpg went down called they said they needed to tune went with air aid short pipe stock box mpg went up and power went up good luck keep it up buddy

I have a 2006 with the CAI and 18" magnaflow true dual catback exhaust at the 45 degree angle tips.
Absolute increase in performance especially with magnaflows straight through design.
Awesome video! I just recently installed an intake in my 2012 Silverado with the 5.3.
Just a heads up for those doing this.. if you clean the throttle body you need to have the idle relearn process run by a dealer, or use the scanner tool. It can technically relearn the idle over time but can take 50+ ignition cycles. I had this issue and my rpms would hang up when revving and downshifting was rough. I couldn’t figure it out for the life of me, but finally got it sorted out. Sharing to save a headache ;)

Jose Berumen no but only because I had a friend with the tool, that used to work at the dealer.

I just purchased this system for my 2010. I already have a dual side exit split tip flowmaster series 10 system in it. I removed my mag a flow system and I’m glad I did it sounds way more powerful. As far as engine bay cleaning idk what he uses but I like purple degreaser

I've got the same one on my truck, a tune really woke it up. I also lined the inside of mine with a heat wrap. It lowered the IAT on avg about 10°
What parts did you heatwrap exactly?

Beautiful truck i have a 2012 silverdo ls extended cab. The only mode i made to hit was a flowmaster 40 series with dumped pipes sounds mean. I like the wheels but i saw your previous video about the leveling kit and it looks dangerous.

Hey bud I'm Ben from Tulsa ok, long ways huh lol, anyways question for ya, I was thinking about doing an upgrade myself on my truck 2011 Chevy Silverado, should I add dual exhaust first or should I do the cold air intake? Also I was thinking about adding a leveling kit, what height should I go for it to be completely level? I've seen different heights wasn't sure which one looked the best, everything is stock now and it's got 275/55/20 on it now, I'm sure you've got alot going on just holla back when ya can, thanks bud... I just put a level kit on my Silverado. 2 inches in the front to level with the back. I put 20x9 fuel wheels and 33x12.5 nitto ridge grapplers and a flowmaster super 40 muffler. The back spacing is 1 and offset is 5 so it just barely sticks out. There’s a website called custom wheel offset and you can type in the kind of set up you want and it brings up others trucks that have it. That’s how I decided on what I wanted.
Thinking about doing this, just got a 2012 GMC Sierra crew cab,98k miles

Hey i have the same year truck as you and i installed a cai and it fried my computer. The battery shocked it fry when i took the neg cable off and back on when it was done. When i bought mine used it came with a optima blue top marine battery which was the issue but it never gave me issues after owning it for 2 1/2 yrs. it sucked replacing that computer and new ac delco battery. Keep up the great vids man.
I had a K&N Cold Air Intake on my 2002 GMC Sierra. Difference is with the system I had the filter was exposed instead of having the top shield. After watching your video I am considering that system on my 2013 Silverado.

Hello. I too have an extended cab (2010). I want my level it as well. Would you say for a perfect level you would need a 3.5” ? What about 3”. And did you leave the back stock?

That`s how clean I keep my engine bay, on my 2008 silverado. I went with the chrome look K&N cold air, with a 40 series flowmaster dual outlet exhaust straight out the back with chrome tips. The truck sounds and runs like a beast and a hell of a lot more power!!!!!

shoulda went with S&B intake, I like mine very much, i had k&n not a fan anymore they are making their stuff cheaper and cheaper.

I like k&n. But why the 5.3 with afm. I bought my 4.8 because i wanted a v8 not a v4, v6. I want all those babies working all the time.
Love the truck man, I have the same year and color also. I just had a question in regards to your wheels. I was wondering if you bought hub centric rings for them? I bought the same wheels but don't know if I'll need to buy hub rings for them in order to run them and not have vibration problems. Thanks in advance
I get no vibrations from my wheels, even at high speeds. BUT the fitment of the wheel on the hub isn't exact. Hub centric rings are relatively cheap, so if I were to do it again, i'd use them.

I have the same exact truck and i love it.. but how do pass the smog check with the C.A.I ?? And where do i get it.
Most K&N intakes are 50 state C.A.R.B. compliant. They come with a sticker to prove it for the emissions shop.

I have never seen a K&N intake with a top cover heat shield, is that fabricated?
i cant find it either ive got the kit and installed it but can not for the life of me fine the heat shield top cover with any kit or from K&N

Just a spacer. Makes the front end suspension geometry all out of wack. Extremely rough.

Lonestar.... you showed the old air system you took out but you did not talk about what you did to all the other connection like vacuum tube.... I was reading the idle relearning post... did you have to re-teach your truck?
No issues post-instal. Truck should re-calibrate itself.

I would believe that K&N dyno chart if there's an actual video with it running on a dyno with the hood closed to simulate a real driving situation. I think it makes a difference. Other than that great video!

Does your silverado have the 5.3 and what is all done to it i have a 13 silverado 1500 5.3 with longtube headers xr1 borla airraid m.i.t and k&n drop in filter and hp tuner live tuning which also im gonna replace the airraid mit for the 50-3070 series k&n cai and by the way did you feel your truck any different
K&N CAI, Superchips Tune, Borla XR-1 muffler swap.
Feels a bit more responsive.
Thats great i removed the the m.i.t and install the k&n cai and it is a little more responsive the only thing mine has a 6" suspensión and 3" body lift and has 22"x12 scorpion rims with amp mt tires 325/50r22 but man your truck is badass

Those extra ""accessories"" are air baffles- its to deaden the sound of the intake noise.
I've seen several videos on these trucks and no one has been able to give a hint as to what those do. You're a true hero because I was about to go on a thirty minute search because it was driving me crazy

LOVE the R/Ts. Super aggressive looking but quiet. I've had BF Goodrich A/Ts in the past and these are quieter.
i love the look as well. Just curious ive heard people have issues with them, and theyre basically bald after 15 or 20k miles. How much do you have on them?
Sounds good, looks really good and feels good but gains are not what they say. hopefully you have the non oiled filter in there. The oiled filter can potentially mess up your MAF sensor.

I hate to be a troll but water doesn't get denser as you go deeper. You can't compress water. The pressure increases because of the weight of the water above you.

You don't have to, but it would perform a lot better with a custom tune.

Pipes and air cleaners are a waste of money. If you want more power (or economy) just buy a vehicle that's better suited for those features than a half ton pickup. At least pipes sound good and let people know you should not be messed with. An air cleaner is only useful when your motor is running full throttle. Maybe you just need a bigger engine. Get one.
2011 silverado 5.3 I installed a cold air on mine and tuned it using a superchip and i didnt feel no difference at all just smoother shifting!!
Are you having any issues? Also how did you black out your bow ties. I have the exact same truck and looking to do these mods
No Issues with the CAI. Blacked out the bowties with palsti dip. Cheap and easy
