Top 10 Trinitarian Mistranslations In The New Testament (Part 1)

  • In this video, some of the biggest Trinitarian Mistranslations are explained. The video primarily focuses on verses that are translated in a Trinitarian way but do not have strong manuscript support for that translation. In fact, in many of these verses, a Unitarian reading is preferable and has more support in the manuscripts and the context. The speaker then asks the audience what implications these verses would have, if properly translated, on one’s understanding of the Trinity and God.
    Verses: John 1:18; Acts 20:28; 1 Tim. 3:16; 1 John 5:7-8; Jude 1:5

I was raised (browbeaten) mindlessly into the Roman Catholic Trinity dogma. Graduating from RC grade school and high school. It just never made sense. Tragically, the cult of the trinity is part of this world, involving itself in the political and military establishments of the nations. Whereas Jesus said that his followers are no part of this world. John 17:16. They are neutral and consist of an international united peaceful brotherhood. These are the true Christians. And as Jesus identified them, they only worship the Father, NOT Jesus, NOR a mysterious trinity. John 4:23.

You don’t have a problem with the Trinity, you have a problem with the deity of Jesus. Trinitarians give Jesus the “rank” of God, one of several distinct entities of equal rank, but Monarchians agree with the Bible record that Jesus is the express image of the invisible God. As God in flesh, Jesus is more than deity - Jesus is Yahweh Himself!!!

In Acts 20:28, the Greek word translated "his own" is an adjective. And that adjective modifies the noun "blood". There's no basis, other than theological bias, for separating "his own" from "blood" and then making "his own" the object of an additional prepositional phrase. What's more, the "his" has always referred to GOD...

Wycliffe: "...the chirche of *God,* which he purchaside with his blood."
Tyndale: "...the congregation of *God,* which he hath purchased with his blood."
Coverdale: "...the congregacion of *God,* which he hath purchaced thorow his owne bloude."
Geneva: "...the Church of *God,* which hee hath purchased with that his owne blood."
Bishops: "...the Church of *God,* which he hath purchased with his owne blood."
KJV: "...the Church of *God,* which he hath purchased with his own blood."

    ----------------------------

The unipersonal God _IS_ love. And the greatest demonstration of love is to lay down one's _own_ life for others. So the unipersonal God laid down his own life for us, all the way to the cross, purchasing the church with his own blood. And after he died for our sins, the unipersonal God raised himself from the dead, just as he promised: *_JESUS_*_ answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days _*_*I*_*_ will raise it up._ (John 2:19)

Jesus Christ the only begotten Son of God _IS_ the unipersonal God - the God who _IS_ love - manifested in genuine human form. Repent of the heresy of -Biblical- Unitarianism, and receive the revelation of *the unipersonal God's **_self-sacrificial_** love.*

The content creator begins with John 1 :18 and explains that there is manuscript evidence for both renderings before giving his opinion on why 'son' should be the best option. However, he didn't fully explain which reading was found in the oldest manuscripts and seemed to see a contradiction in the text with the alternate view which he thought supported the Trinity. Is this a case of his own theological presuppositions getting in the way ? I disagree that the rendering 'only-begotten god' supports Trinitarianism. Indeed, I think the opposite is true as an 'only-begotten god' (Jesus) contrasts with the unbegotten God (YHWH). Indeed, the fact that people saw Jesus and that no man has seen God argues for Jesus being the Christ and not God Almighty. In the Greco-Roman world, someone who had been raised from the dead and exalted to heaven to the right hand of God would indeed be viewed as a god. Howevere, the term 'god' has a range of meanings and is applied to others in the Bible apart from YHWH. who is the ultimate, supreme, true God.
Having said that, I think his explanations for the rest of the scriptures are accurate and show how the presuppositions of Trinitarian scholars have influenced their translations.

There were other reasons within the context as to why "only-begotten son" is preferrable. One is that "only-begotten son" occurs three other times in the Johannine literature, but "only-begotten God" never occurs anywhere else. So, I wouldn't say theological presuppositions are driving that choice. Thanks for the comment.

@@biblicalunitarian : I understand why "only -begotten son" may be preferrable for you, but as you stated in the video, the jury is out on this one and "only-begotten god"is , I think, found in the oldest Greek manuscripts. To many people with a religious spirit will never understand the Holy Trinity or the Word of God because they are either stuck in there ways or blinded by Satan their Father. John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. Repent Greek word metanoia meaning change ones mind. People use their own interpretations instead of following Holy Spirit. If you don't repent before you die by putting your faith in Jesus Christ death on the cross for your sins, burial and resurrection on the 3rd day you will be casted into Hell/Lake of Fire and be eternally seperated from God. Jesus Christ is God but you are antichrist and deny his diety. 1 John 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

I thought you were going to deal with serious Trinitarian mistranslations, like Revelation‬ ‭21‬:‭22‬, “But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.”
Trinitarians believe that God and Jesus (the Lamb) are separate persons. This explains why they would replace the word IS with the word ARE. Yup! They pluralized the verb IS (God the Lamb is the temple) into ARE (God and the Lamb are the temple). I’m just surprised that they didn’t pluralize the word TEMPLE!

Biblical Unitarian I read KJV only, you say we who believe in Trinity are wrong. Why is the name of God, Jehovah not in the N.T. Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. I believe because Jesus is God, His blood saves us. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. The Holy Spirit. John 6:62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. John 10:36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. John 13:3 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God; John 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. John15:28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. 5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. John 10:30 I and my Father are one. Revelation1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. 1John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. So you say the Trinity is not true , but Jesus is the word that created the world , explain the verses . Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

I'm non trinitarian, but i disagree with my biblical Unitarian brethren on one point, their denial ofthe pre-existince of Jesus as the Logos or angel of Yahweh. Yes, trinitarian brethren draw the wrong conclusion from these verses that are used to teach Christ's prehuman life, but to me Jesus coming from heaven and having been with the Father before he came as a man is clearly taught.
Both extremes are inconsistent. Just because Jesus existed in heaven first doesnt prove the Trinity, just as the fact that there is no Trinity doesn't prove that he didn't exist previous to his human life. He was a spirit son of Yahweh of the highest order, separate and distinct from Yahweh, created by Yahweh as all other angelic sons were. He didn't exist before he was created, but his creation was heavenly before it was earthly. I think this is crystal clear from Scripture. God bless 🙏

I think Paul said / Philippians 2: 5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
    10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Trinitarians, ask yourself does believing in a doctrine really depend on my salvation? No it does not on the contrary, it does not grant salvation to believe in a nature of God. Believing that Yahweh raises Yeshua up from the dead and believing that he is the MESSIAH, does grant you salvation. “If someone acknowledges that Yeshua is the Son of God, God remains united with him, and he with God.”

trinitarians have nothing to gain to defend a doctrine that seems complicated. it's not even worth defending if you want to appease the world. the trinity has a unique view on god different from other religions and says god is greater than us for being 3 persons instead of 1. that's something incomprehensible to life-forms lower than god, but still logical, like a 4D cube. unitarians have everything to gain to make sure jesus' words aren't taken as infallible, but as just an opinion lesser than the father.

Christ did not come from this planet he came from heaven the eternal abode and he said if you do not believe that he did you will die in your sins the fact that he came from the eternal abode by him by itself proves that he has got incarnate. @@migtvill I think you've missed the entire point of the New Testament. The Jews of old, and the Christians of the new covenant era, didn't/don't worship creatures. We don't worship angels, semi-divine figures, lesser divinities, or human beings. We worship God alone. The Biblical testimony is clear: there is God, and there is everything else. And the gulf between them is infinite. Although the New Testament makes it very clear that Jesus was and is a real human being, it is equally clear that he is much more than a human being. Jesus is not just some highly exalted prophet or "angel." Revelation 5 describes a kind of worship of Jesus that would be idolatrous for a Jew or for a Christian were Jesus not, in some way, fully God while at the same time fully man.
I was once a unitarian myself. But I came to see that the Scriptural testimony is absolutely uncompromising in terms of what constitutes true and acceptable worship before God. Christianity is not about human beings or angels saving mankind. It is about the work that GOD has done. Jesus receives divine worship because he is God in the flesh.

As I said, I was once a unitarian, so I know the arguments inside and out. I did not mean to imply that this guy is saying to worship Jesus even though (in his view) he is not God. You missed my point entirely. A unitarian may agree with me that only God should be worshipped. And he may claim that the New Testament doesn't present Jesus as God, and therefore Jesus shouldn't be worshipped (at least not "as God"). But the New Testament would disagree. The New Testament DOES present Jesus as God. When you see the patterns of Old Testament passages being applied to Jesus in the NT (numerous examples); recognize that certain Old Testament passages could ONLY be fulfilled by Jesus (for example, Zechariah 14); that language is used in the New Testament indicating that Jesus is God in the flesh; and that Jesus is exalted to a place that is not compatible with monotheism if he were NOT God; then it becomes clear what his true identity is. I invite all unitarians to think on this, pray on it, and above all study Scripture in a translation that has not been compromised. The New Testament does make it pretty clear that Jesus is the Son of Man, but I’ve heard an interesting hypothesis that perhaps Jesus didn’t actually _know_ he was the Son of Man during his lifetime, and that only after his resurrection did God make him the Son of Man/reveal that to him. Many critical scholars think it’s possible or even likely that Jesus preached about a coming Son of Man who wasn’t himself, so perhaps that’s true. 🤷‍♂️

@@dalesajdak422 - I have a different explanation. Most are quick to hear 'son of man' and assume a 'complimentary' context. The same goes for 'sons of God - psalm 82 clearly indicates otherwise.
With regards to 'a' son of man, it is pointed out in Numbers 23:19, that the 'son of man' needs to repent... and thus a binary 'gate' appears - FOR or AGAINST.
We know that the son of man has a quandary with 'faith', and that it requires faith in order to please God.
I then found an interesting example in Ezekiel. When Ezekiel is called, the Lord tells him (son of man) to STAND and THEN He would speak with him. It is then the 'spirit' that enters Ezekiel and CAUSES him to stand. And THEN Ezekiel could hear the Lord speaking to him.
As such the son of man is a 'thing' as much as a person. It is a thing inside EVERY person. The 'son' of man is our Lord, the 'master' that is within us. This is what the LORD speaks to.
Thus when David says (in the spirit as Jesus adds) the Lord is speaking to David's 'son of man' and thus the LORD is giving David instruction on what he would like him to do.

John 1 creates super amounts of issues for non-trinitarians since the Word is recognized as creator of all things and then also recognized as Jesus. From Genesis one we know God created all things. But saying that Jesus revealed an unseen God is not contradictory. Why? Because divinity is unseen. Also Jesus revealed the God who has not been seen. That is not strange to say if He is God. It does not have to mean that God was never seen even after Jesus revealed him. It would be like me saying my biological father was unknown to me but my father made himself known to me. Or something like that.
Also in Acts 20 if you are saying it is either God or Lord then you have an issue. The Lord is recognized as God. So if there is one Lord and he has been recognized as God then it would seem someone called lord (in the sense of the verse in Acts 20) would be God. Same of Ephesians 4 or Thomas declaration that Jesus is Lord and God. Of course, God does not have blood to shed except in the one person of Jesus. So it would ot make any sense that there would be another passage that says that God (besides Jesus) shed his own blood. No Trinitarian would argue for that. Just making a statement that other passages say Jesus shed his blood does not really help unless you already assume by that that Jesus is not God. but really I do not show that you prove that this verse really speaks about Jesus unless you add more than what is in the text itself and interpret the text in just a certain way.
You also making a jump to say "blood of his own" is referring to Jesus. It could still just mean his own blood. You did not really give a good reason to just state that "his own" refers to Jesus. You have to insert something that is not in the text "son" to make it sound like it works.
Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: “I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god.”- Isaiah 44:6
Then there is Jude. So Lord in one place you say is not God and then in Jude it is God? But Jesus is called Lord all the time in the NT. Ephesians 4 is one major one. So a textual variant of Lord does not help you.

    • @biblicalunitarian
      @biblicalunitarian  7 днів тому +3

Yes, Lord can refer to Jesus or it can refer to God, it depends on context. This is not something new I am proposing. Also, the reason to believe that "son" is properly supplied in Acts 20:28 is the similar phrase "his own son" τοῦ ἰδίου υἱοῦ in Rom. 8:32.
Do you see how in this verse you quoted, there can be no other God, besides the Father - “I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god.”- Isaiah 44:6
God uses singular pronouns and said there is no other God. He does not use "we" which God should if he consists of three persons, he uses "I."

LORD capitalized is from the tetragrammaton...YHWH. written approximately 7000 times in the OT. To say LORD and Lord have the same meaning is erroneous. Deuteronomy 18:15-19..the LORD says to Moses, l will raise up a Prophet like yourself( Moses ) and l will put my words in His mouth. That Prophet just so happens to be the Son of God, the Messiah. Psalm 110:1... David writes..the LORD says to my Lord sit at my right hand. YHWH says to my king or ruler. The word Lord does not mean God. The capitalised form LORD refers specifically to YHWH..the one and only true God as Jesus ( Yahshua) states in John 17:3 . Remembering that God is Spirit and it is the Spirit that gives life.
