      Good call, Tracy! Lemon is actually bad for skin, it's an irritant and should not be in skin care products.

    Out of all the many sugar scrubs I could’ve clicked on, I’m so happy to have found your site!
    I love this scrub; made it for a friend and myself; added grated lime peel instead of the lemon peel to get a combined citrus combo with the lemon essential oil!
    Big thanks for your easy recipe and kind demonstration!

    I made as shown on the video, but it turns hard, even though it is in a sealed mason jar, because you are using solid coconut oil and melting it instead of fractionated coconut oi which is already a liquid. Is it supposed to be solid? If you used another oil, such as the fractionated oil or jojoba, it would be more moist. How is it supposed to turn out? Thanks.

  • @diamondringirl

    i want to thank you for your video. i had another lemon sugar scrub saved and somehow the link isn't working. but your's seems so close. i think i used olive oil, sugar, lemon essential oil and possible vitamin E and D. (i added those on my own.). and a drop of yellow food color to give it a good yellow color. over the past few years, it come in handy for my daughter and her friends who are in the health field, always washing their hands. they all loved it. i love to use it for my whole body and it softens lips so much. so, now it is time to make a few more batches. before i do, i have a few questions if you can help please. why do you use glass bowl and wood spoon? i usually use stainless bowl and scilicone scraper. and after you melt the coconut oil does it harden again when it cools? i thank you for your time.

It's just like any other scrubs you use srub and just rinse of remembering you want to leave the oil in your skin the sugar will dissolve once it gets wet and pat dry. If you feel that is too much oil just use it as like any lotion you use to rub it gently on your body. Thank you, Lori.

    i love lemon which is what caught my eye! sounds fabulous especially since its almost time for warmer weather. i however cannot help but want to add color which i do in most of my products. how do you feel about adding micas or dyes to this? Im learning and for the most part like natural except for colors and i will use fragrance oils for my more gimmicky products. just wondering your thoughts about using color in general to something you would be applying daily to your skin possibly. Thanks and great tutorial! you have a new subscriber!

      You could probably use other natural ingredients to colour it (for example, use turmeric to give it a yellow colour, etc) not only would that make Ur products more beneficial for the skin, but it also to a customer, it would seem better than using other colouring agents. (especially since some people might not know that mica is natural)

    Why don’t you try an inexpensive (Approximately $15) digital scale from Amazon. Then you wouldn’t have to mess around with your Coconut Oil moving it from one container to another. I like your recipe the Lemon Zest is a Brilliant Idea! But, for a better exfoliation, you should have used a mixture of white sugar and raw sugar.

    I know it has been a couple of years since you made this video, but my question is not about the benefits to your skin, but what effect does this scrub have on the drain pipes/sewer system? Whether it be city sewers or septic systems with drain-fields. Coconut oil has a lower melting temperature but also solidifies at a low temp also, which would mean in would coagulate on drain pipes. Just curious as to how people deal with this, is it a problem?

    • @craftingwithhwm
      @craftingwithhwm  4 роки тому +3

      Hello Roxanne! I have been using it for over 15 years and I haven’t had a problem but you can search online if you want more information about that. I don’t want to speak on something I’m not familiar with. Thank you, Lori.

    • @craftingwithhwm
      @craftingwithhwm  4 роки тому +2

      Roxanne Strauss this is no different than rinsing your sink after making a cake etc. Essential oils are natural Ingredients and so is everything else in here. I would be interest to know where your research is from. I asked my husband who is a chemical and nuclear engineer he said it would not damage our pipes.

    • @roxannestrauss5378
      @roxannestrauss5378 4 роки тому

      It probably won't "damage" sewer pipes, but will definitely clog them up. When we shower, water is at temps that melt coconut oil, but that warm temp does not carry through. So, at some point, coconut oil solidifies again.

    • @craftingwithhwm
      @craftingwithhwm  4 роки тому +5

      Hello Roxanne! The solution to it is to use fractionated coconut oil which is in liquid form and does not go back to solid even at cold temperatures. That problem really only happens if the pipes are cold if the water is cold and I live in a very warm place and take hot showers so it’s never a problem for me. Thank you, Lori.
