Out of all the many sugar scrubs I could’ve clicked on, I’m so happy to have found your site! I love this scrub; made it for a friend and myself; added grated lime peel instead of the lemon peel to get a combined citrus combo with the lemon essential oil! Big thanks for your easy recipe and kind demonstration!
Hi Donna! I’m so happy you enjoyed this recipe and it’s something I can’t live without. I love that you added Lime Peel and I’m sure it smelled delicious. Thank you so much, Lori.
So... I just made this scrub. I had to exchange the lemon for lavender because I have Citrus allergies. However, it smells AMAZING and my hands feel like silk..
You are so welcome, Tracey. Isn't amazing!! I love to make them so much. Yes, it does leave your skin super soft. Don't forget to like and share. Thank you, Lori.
Thank you so much for not adding music over your talking. This is the third channel I've gone to trying to learn about these scrubs. People add music they like, as loud as they like, to their videos not thinking about whether we (the people) will be able to listen to it. :-)
Guys, don't microwave your coconut oil! it kills all the good stuff in there! melt it on a radiator or double boiler :) other than that, love the video :)
This is one of my favourite videos ever, I usually watch it before bed. I find your voice and the whole scrub making process so therapeutic and calming. Thank you!
Hi Lori, I made your sugar scrub and "I absolutely love it "! ❤️❤️ It smells so good and my skin feels so soft. Thanks for sharing your homemade bath salt and sugar scrub recipes. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ them!!
Hello, there Later Days. I am very happy, you made some. Which type of essential oil did you used, if you don't mind me asking? Isn't amazing, I love making them. I don't know if you know, I make them and sell them as well. You are very welcome, anytime. Like and share. Lori.💜💜😊
Hard Working Mom Lori,I followed your recipe, except I had lemongrass oil instead of just lemon oil. But,it still smells like lemon pound cake :) ❤️ I thought you said, you sold your salts and scrubs. The recipes are amazing,I'm sure you sell out all the time!. Have a great evening
Oh, wow !!! That makes me, so happy. Wow, thank you so much. Yes, I do make them and sell them, but I make them when they get orders so they are freshly made. I will send you my Etsy store link. I, do in times not so many, they really don't know how good it is. I do, have some customers that are the usual and order them. I really, appreciate the feedback and I will be making a new one and enjoy it. Thank you, Lori.
Hello Kiki! I’m so glad that you will give this a try and you will love it. I can’t live without my sugar scrubs. I appreciate you watching and please remember sharing is caring. Thank you, Lori.
Thank you for video, can't wait to try this! One question tho, since it will be used in the shower why can't you use plastic instead of glass? You mentioned because of the essential oil, but if you omit that is plastic ok?
Hello and welcome, to my channel, Rosaura. I hope you do make it and will like it, let me know how it turns out. Don't forget to like and share. Thank you, Lori.
i want to thank you for your video. i had another lemon sugar scrub saved and somehow the link isn't working. but your's seems so close. i think i used olive oil, sugar, lemon essential oil and possible vitamin E and D. (i added those on my own.). and a drop of yellow food color to give it a good yellow color. over the past few years, it come in handy for my daughter and her friends who are in the health field, always washing their hands. they all loved it. i love to use it for my whole body and it softens lips so much. so, now it is time to make a few more batches. before i do, i have a few questions if you can help please. why do you use glass bowl and wood spoon? i usually use stainless bowl and scilicone scraper. and after you melt the coconut oil does it harden again when it cools? i thank you for your time.
Hello there! I’m happy you enjoyed the video and I use a glass bowl just out of habit and the wooden spoon helps to mix all the ingredients. The coconut oil does harden when it cools. This is my go to body scrub and it smells heavenly. Thank you for watching, Lori.
Love it, Girl, QUESTION I just ordered shea butter and other stuff to make whipped butter creams and arror root powder and mica color powder from Amazon. can I use shea butter if I don't have the coconut oil? .
Hi Pamela! I’ve never used Shea butter or made any butter creams. This is the only beauty product I have ever made and wish I could answer your questions. I would search UA-cam for creams using Shea butter. You might be able to use Shea butter for the body scrub depending on how well it melts and incorporates with the sugar. Thank you for watching, Lori.
sounds really good, however, I am a bit worried about the photosensitivity of lemon oil and all other citrus oils. Can you really use this scrub daily and then go out in the sun?
Hello Patricia! I have used this for about 20 years and have never had any problems with that. You could always test a small area of your skin or ask your doctor because everyone is different. Thank you, Lori.
Thanks for sharing this lovely video. If I may ask, where do I get small mason jars and essential oils at an economical price? (making for a bulk). Any suggestions? Thanks!
Hi Roshni! I purchase everything from Amazon including the jars, the coconut oil, and essential oils. Here is the link for the Mason Jars. www.amazon.com/Silver-Canning-Storage-Pickling-Pickles/dp/B08BR6G62H/ref=mp_s_a_1_14?crid=3SV9E23ZB62JS&keywords=mason+jars+8+oz&qid=1677620485&sprefix=mason+%2Caps%2C244&sr=8-14. Here’s the link to my Amazon Affiliate Shop and I have all the oils there to purchase. www.amazon.com/shop/influencer-5ef69f14. Thank you for watching, Lori.
Hello Anna! I have never had an issue with that and been using this for 20+ years but the lemon peel is more used for scent so you could use lemon extract in its place if it’s a concern. I hope that helps. Thank you, Lori.
@@craftingwithhwm thank you yes i might try the extract, i love your recipe i watched it many times but haven't try it yet sounds so amazing for the skin, thank you!!!
Hello, there Kisha and welcome to my channel if I haven't greed you already 😉. Yes, it will help, but remember not everyone is the same and some people need to use it a lot and it could work. Using, these essential oils are amazing you will love the quality of these oils. I will have more on the way with chocolate and another one with strawberries. Don't forget to share and like. Thank you, Lori. 🍋🍋
Hi there. Really enjoy watching your videos. I made some of this using your recipe and it went really hard. Am I doing something wrong? Should I add another oil? Thanks.
Hello and welcome, there Arixx. Yes, make it and let me know how you like it. I have a lot of clients that love it. Don't forget to like and share. Thank you, Lori.
Hi Chela! I’m glad you love my recipe and I don’t put anything in it because it lasts me 3 months and I always finish it long before that but you can definitely add something if you would like. Thank you for watching, Lori.
i love lemon which is what caught my eye! sounds fabulous especially since its almost time for warmer weather. i however cannot help but want to add color which i do in most of my products. how do you feel about adding micas or dyes to this? Im learning and for the most part like natural except for colors and i will use fragrance oils for my more gimmicky products. just wondering your thoughts about using color in general to something you would be applying daily to your skin possibly. Thanks and great tutorial! you have a new subscriber!
You could probably use other natural ingredients to colour it (for example, use turmeric to give it a yellow colour, etc) not only would that make Ur products more beneficial for the skin, but it also to a customer, it would seem better than using other colouring agents. (especially since some people might not know that mica is natural)
Hey Lori, friend from Tank Ritual, I alway look at video history and of course, lemon sugar scrub caught my eye! I may have to halve the recipe, but it looks awesome!

Hi! I made this and it's really lovely on the skin. The only thing I found, is that the day after I made it, it had solidified quite a lot (I'm in the uk, it's cold!), it did still work but just wondering, as I'd like to make some for gifts if there is another type of oil that anyone can recommend which won't solidify but has the same affect? Would castor oil be any good?
Hello there! I’m so glad you loved it and I use it all the time. It’s my favorite scrub. I’ve never made it with any other oil but I think Olive Oil would work great. It has a lot of benefits. I hope that helps. Thank you, Lori.
Hello Daisy! You don’t have to refrigerate and it’s never separated on me before. Thank you for watching and please remember to like and subscribe, Lori.
Hello Jennifra! That’s completely normal and it’s meant to be like that because it’s a scrub. When you’re in the shower and put it on your wet skin then it starts melting again from the hot water. Just take your time and rub it in circular motions. Let me know if that helps. Thank you, Lori.
I noticed there was either jojoba or almond oil sitting there and something else, what are they and can u use those in the scrubb as Well? Yes, be careful if you go out in the sun with all the lemon scents that you use a sunscreen or u can burn easily.
Which one of the lemon essential oils from Eden's Garden do you use? The essential oils might get incorporated better if mixed with only coconut oil before adding the white sugar.
Hello Gail! There should only be one kind of lemon essential oils from Eden’s Garden. Here is the link for it and I purchase it from Amazon. www.amazon.com/dp/B002RTL9IY/?ref=exp_influencer-5ef69f14_dp_vv_mw. I use other flavors as well and here is my Amazon affiliate link that includes all of them and each has its own use or what it’s good for. www.amazon.com/shop/influencer-5ef69f14. And yes you can add it to the coconut oil if you would like. Thank you for watching, Lori.
I’m so happy you enjoyed the video and you are very welcome. I think the shelf life would be about 6-8 months as long as you keep it in an airtight container and store it in a cool place like in a cabinet for example. I hope that helps. Thank you for watching, Lori.
Video is great. Thanks for posting. Your recipe smells great! Good advice on the glass jar and natural products. Only thing I suggest is, for ALL those great nutrients, You should just whip in your coconut oil or use the double boiling method. Not microwave.😊😊
I enjoyed this video so much. Easy to follow. Simple ingredients. Since cutting my sugar intake, I needed a DIY to use up my 2 bags of sugar. BINGO! 😊. New Subscriber 🙋🏾♀️.
Oh I’m so happy you enjoyed the video and welcome to the Hard Working Mom family. And that is definitely a good way to use that sugar. Thank you for watching, Lori.
Hello there! I’ve never used preservatives for my Lemon Scrub and it lasts me about 3 months which is about how long it takes to use one jar and I also sold it for many years. I’m not sure how much would be needed since it’s a homemade recipe. I’m sorry. I appreciate you watching, Lori.
I made as shown on the video, but it turns hard, even though it is in a sealed mason jar, because you are using solid coconut oil and melting it instead of fractionated coconut oi which is already a liquid. Is it supposed to be solid? If you used another oil, such as the fractionated oil or jojoba, it would be more moist. How is it supposed to turn out? Thanks.
I know it has been a couple of years since you made this video, but my question is not about the benefits to your skin, but what effect does this scrub have on the drain pipes/sewer system? Whether it be city sewers or septic systems with drain-fields. Coconut oil has a lower melting temperature but also solidifies at a low temp also, which would mean in would coagulate on drain pipes. Just curious as to how people deal with this, is it a problem?
Hello Roxanne! I have been using it for over 15 years and I haven’t had a problem but you can search online if you want more information about that. I don’t want to speak on something I’m not familiar with. Thank you, Lori.
Roxanne Strauss this is no different than rinsing your sink after making a cake etc. Essential oils are natural Ingredients and so is everything else in here. I would be interest to know where your research is from. I asked my husband who is a chemical and nuclear engineer he said it would not damage our pipes.
It probably won't "damage" sewer pipes, but will definitely clog them up. When we shower, water is at temps that melt coconut oil, but that warm temp does not carry through. So, at some point, coconut oil solidifies again.
Hello Roxanne! The solution to it is to use fractionated coconut oil which is in liquid form and does not go back to solid even at cold temperatures. That problem really only happens if the pipes are cold if the water is cold and I live in a very warm place and take hot showers so it’s never a problem for me. Thank you, Lori.
Hello Meryem! I’m happy you enjoyed the video and my scrubs usually last up to 3 months even with the lemon peel. Since it’s mostly for the aroma, you can just add a little more lemon essential oil and leave that out. I hope that helps. Thank you, Lori.
Hello and welcome, there Jennifer. It's just like any other scrubs you use srub and just rinse of remembering you want to leave the oil in your skin the sugar will dissolve once it gets wet and pat dry. If you feel that is too much oil just use it as like any lotion you use to rub it gently on your body. Thank you, Lori.
@@craftingwithhwm hi Lori, so yes theoretically you could massage the scrub into your skin, add warm water, scrub up a while ....then just leave to dry out and moisturise skin. !! Bonus. No wastage down plughole ! ☺
It is for most skin types but if you have very sensitive skin then any kind of scrub can irritate the skin so I would test a small area first. The scrub has a long shelf life because it’s all natural so not sure about what preservative to use but I would do some research on that. I have used it for at least 30 years and never had a problem with that. I hope that helps. Thank you, Lori.
Love this video and my scrub, too. Smells so good and my hands are super soft! Thanks for pampering me

You should try dehydrating the lemon peel and shredding it up in a coffee grinder and place that into the scrubs

Hello Jennifra! That’s completely normal and it’s meant to be like that because it’s a scrub. When you’re in the shower and put it on your wet skin then it starts melting again from the hot water. Just take your time and rub it in circular motions. Let me know if that helps. Thank you, Lori.
Cannot wait to try this one!! THANKS.
😍 can u please make a video using the jojoba oil or sweet almond oil?
I will definitely try to do a video of that soon. Thank you, Lori.
How much sweet almond oil do u use
Can I squeeze some lemon into to the mixture, instead of adding the lemon zest?
Hi! Whats the shelflife?
I think she mentioned 3 months if in a glass jar and closed air tight
Thanks for showing the coconut oil❤️❤️I’m doing this right now for Xmas presents!! Happy holidays!!
Hello Diana! You are so welcome and I think this would make a wonderful gift. Merry Christmas and thank you for watching, Lori.
Thank you for sharing... your awesome!!
You are so welcome and I appreciate you watching. Please remember sharing is caring. Thank you, Lori.
Hello, do you ship your butters and scrubs? If so how do you do it? Thank you
I noticed there was either jojoba or almond oil sitting there and something else, what are they and can u use those in the scrubb as Well? Yes, be careful if you go out in the sun with all the lemon scents that you use a sunscreen or u can burn easily.
Yes, you can use them. Yes, they do. Don't forget to like and share. Thank you, Lori.
Great video! Thanks for sharing... May I know how long this scrub can last in storage ?
I’m so happy you enjoyed the video and you are very welcome. I think the shelf life would be about 6-8 months as long as you keep it in an airtight container and store it in a cool place like in a cabinet for example. I hope that helps. Thank you for watching, Lori.
Video is great. Thanks for posting. Your recipe smells great! Good advice on the glass jar and natural products. Only thing I suggest is, for ALL those great nutrients, You should just whip in your coconut oil or use the double boiling method. Not microwave.😊😊
How many ounces does this make? I can’t wait to try this recipe!
Hello Ashley! I’m excited for you to try this and it makes about 16 ounces. Thank you for watching, Lori.
How long does it last
Very nice video.
Thank you, very much, Ilean. It smells amazing, you will love it. I sell a lot of them. Don't forget to like and share. Thank you, Lori.
Because if is a scrub and may come in contact with water, can a preservative like phenonip be added.
Hello, since it will come into contact with water you need a preservative. How much should be used? Thanks so much.
Thanks.
If you haven't already found a solution, you can maybe try sunflower oil, assuming you're not allergic or anything.
Hi
Can i use the shea butter instead of the coconut oil?
Hi Victoria! I’ve never used Shea butter and I don’t know if it would be fluid enough but it might work. Thank you for watching, Lori.
Looks wonderful! Thank you for sharing. Happy Holidays : )
Hello and welcome, there Dottie. Thank you, very much. I wish you, the same, Lori.
I did do a search, results were not very favorable, thank you Lori!
Can you use raw sugar instead of regular sugar?
Yes
can you use lemon juice
Thanks for sharing 🌸🌸🌸
Hello Riya and you are so welcome. I appreciate you watching and please remember sharing is caring and to subscribe. Thank you, Lori.
Hi, I’m from Australia and my daughter loves this stuff. What are the measurements in Australian terms? Are they different?
Hello John! I just used cups as measurement so it should be the same. The recipe can be found in the description of the video. Thank you, Lori.
QUESTION what happens if I whipp it , will the texture come out the same or will it be like water.
I wish I could answer your question but I’ve never made anything with Shea butter. I would try whipping a small amount to see what happens. Lori
Can i use this on may face
Hi, there Mayra and welcome to my channel. Yes, you may use it all over it is really good. Don't forget to like and share. Thank you, Lori.
@@craftingwithhwm 💖 thanks ma'am
Great video but i have just one question about the lemon peel does not spoil over time because the can is often placed in the bathroom ?
Hello Meryem! I’m happy you enjoyed the video and my scrubs usually last up to 3 months even with the lemon peel. Since it’s mostly for the aroma, you can just add a little more lemon essential oil and leave that out. I hope that helps. Thank you, Lori.
@@craftingwithhwm thank you very much u help me by this informations thank you
Can Sea Salt be used instead of Sugar?
Does it have to be refrigerated?
No it doesn’t need to be refrigerated but I keep mine in a airtight container to store it. I hope you give this a try. Thank you, Lori.
Was the vanilla oil also by Eden Garden?
Hi Jenny and yes I believe it was. Thank you, Lori.
is it alright if i exclude the essential oils and just use the three ingredients instead?
Can you store this in a cupboard in a airtight container?
Hello Cynthia! Yes you can store it in a cabinet with an airtight container preferably a mason jar. Thank you, Lori.
Thanks for sharing girl xoxo ❤
Hello Saniya and you are so welcome. I’m happy you enjoyed the video and thank you for watching, Lori.
Good morning here in Nigeria please can I use Olive oil or castor oil if I can't get coconut oil. Thank you very much.
Hi there! I’ve never tried it with other oils but I think Olive Oil would be just fine. Thank you for watching, Lori.
Please tell me how to use this. Do you put it on as a scrub or just leave it on and wash off?
Hello and welcome, there Jennifer. It's just like any other scrubs you use srub and just rinse of remembering you want to leave the oil in your skin the sugar will dissolve once it gets wet and pat dry. If you feel that is too much oil just use it as like any lotion you use to rub it gently on your body. Thank you, Lori.
@@craftingwithhwm hi Lori, so yes theoretically you could massage the scrub into your skin, add warm water, scrub up a while ....then just leave to dry out and moisturise skin. !! Bonus. No wastage down plughole ! ☺
How much jojoba or almond oil should I use if I substitute it for the coconut oil?
Hi Kim! I’ve never used the other oils so I’m not able to say but I would think it would be the equivalent amount. Thank you for watching, Lori.
Nice video..is this is for all skin type ? Can you tell me one more thing , what preservative we should use for longtime
@@craftingwithhwm ohh thanx a lot 😊
