  • This video show you how to speak the Queen's English is, what it is, plus RP accent vs the Queen's English in 10 + 1 bonus expression and it's really something you can't miss. This is a mini tutorial on the Queen's English.
The Queen's English is often misunderstood. However, in the video I clearly explain what the Queen's English actually is (and it's not RP) so we can compare 10 expressions with RP vs the Queen's English and then the final bonus expression is one that everybody needs to learn if they want to speak the Queen's English.
By the way, why would you want to learn the Queen's English? Well, I guess you are not going to be the future Queen or King of England anytime soon so the biggest reason would be - wait for it - just for fun! It is a lot of fun speaking it and it was highly amusing making this video.
You may also be an aspiring actor who would like to work in period dramas which require a monarch. I think that all the greatest actors have played a monarch at some point in their career.
Just a quick note - this video does not have the phonemic script for each expression so this time it's up to you just to listen and interpret what I say - as it is just for fun.
If you have another reason for learning it - let me know below. Well, I hope you enjoy it and if you want to subscribe - just hit the red button plus hit the bell icon for notifications. That's all for now.

You’re missing an important element to conservative RP: the a’s are sometimes pronounced as a french é (eh) not a (ah). So the Queen wouldn’t say “Naturalleh” but rather “Néturalleh”

That "year" sounds just like "Jahr" in German, which means year. Reminds me of the Crown actors learning to say a German-sounding "Haus" instead of "house" fro "Clarence House".

I thought the way the royal family spoke had been heavily influenced by their Germanic heritage which is why certain words they say almost sound like German words. Especially the word house - ‘haus’.

The way you pronounce words in Queen's English, makes the ends of the words sound quite German.. Which would make sense since there's German blood in the family.

I feel like the German ancestry is heavily exagerrated. They do have more ancestors than Prince Albert and his line. Which is to say the German element has been heavily diluted.
Not that any European ancestry is a bad thing in a European monarch.

This doesn’t Sounds like English But like a dialect some of these words are not really pronounced as what a typical English speaker would pronounce them in their daily days
I wonder if a person from a lower class someday would talk with the queen and if she can understand him or would there be to many misunderstandings between them it’s like west meets east and the other way
