Great channel. When i learned English in school (on the continent) I think it was called "Queen's English" which I think is the same as RP.. Sadly me spending long time in USA spoiled my RP a bit
My Francophone students LOVED this clip. I played it in class for them. Your humour and skill got a very enthusiastic round of applause. You made a language teacher very happy too.
I really love the appealing way you create your videos. Normally, watching youtube videos about accents is so boring, but your content is amazing. I enjoy spending my time exploring and watching your channel.
I’ve always been fascinated with language, and now I’m fascinated with accents. It all started when we began binging Peaky Blinders and I watched your Birmingham accent video. Now I’m completely hooked learning all the British accents!
Total star, by the way. The best video on RP I have seen. I was learned to talk proper by my dad, born in 1923 who had a good angle on all this. My RP went down great with the 2000 slum clearance kids I was sent to school with. Another girl was bullied less than I was, her parents having the wisdom to remove her from the school. I let the RP drop because I was, and am so disgusted with the modern middle class, slipping into regional pronunciation. However when I heard myself on playback on a video, I wound up here listening to you. And it is fabulous. This video is just brilliant, thank you. Uplifting, instructive and entertaining, can't praise this highly enough. Ta da.
In my younger years I tried to hide my RP accent, attempting to disguise how I really spoke. I hated sounding “posh”. In London I would try and sound more West Country (much to people’s disapproval) and in Gloucestershire I would embrace more of what I’d heard in London. Now I think it’s silly to pretend to be something I’m not, so I embrace the RP accent with the added sprinkle of some regional bits and bobs I’ve picked up along the way.
You are one of the my favourite You Tube English teachers. I love your style, your humourism, and your voice.....thanks a lot. I'm following you every week and I'm looking at your past videos too, to not lose anything in your lessons
I'm Australian and have always felt that our accent falls between RP and Cockney. Watching your video, the main differences between our accent and RP seem to be that 1) RP speakers drop the jaw a bit more in words like stir, curb, birth etc; and 2) RP speakers pronounce their t's and d's more precisely. Ours are a bit more blunt, like American t's and d's. So letter, better, setter etc sound more like ledda, bedda, sedda.
Hello Laura I am new here!! I would like to compliment you on your talent and creativity. As an English teacher, innovative and highly entertaining content is massively inspirational and makes everyone familiar with new commonly used vocabulary in half the time. By the way, your hairdresser in another video of yours is absolutely amazing! However, I would never let him put his hands on my waist-long hair. Getting back to James Bond and his stunningly beautiful partners, I am sure I am not the only one who thinks you bear an astonishing resemblance to French actress Sophie Marceau ( The World is not enough) !! Thank you for your invaluable work
beautiful girl and her naturally beautiful method of teaching British English pronunciations is beyond description. Nevertheless, she is an exception for her lecturing skills and styles with such touching accent as she uses so confidently, obliging the listeners to remain engaged in her teaching method. while one she is listening to her speaking so impactfully. A gifted helper is a rich symbolism of true professionalism. And this is what one happens to see when experiencing this all over again and again. Pakistan
Hahaha you are the best. I was a little boring with my learning English proces but I found your lessons very useful and enjoyable. Thanks and I'm going to recommend you as posible as I can.
I learned British English (RP) in school but I never got used to it. For some reason I still prefer the 'Standard American English' but I enjoy your videos a lot. Thank you.
By far the best accent video I’ve seen, not only was it super fun and attention grabbing, I learned how to do an accent I need for a role!! Thank You so much!!!!😊😊😊😁😁😁
I like the British accent for its aristocratic and noble sound. Nevertheless, when in such words as "work" and "more" I don't pronounce the letter "R", then it seems to me that my interlocuter won't understand me clearly. Isn't it funny, ma'am? ÷)) Thank you very much, you are an exellent teacher and beautiful woman! Greetings from Russia!
Wow, I've been listening to your channel for a while now, woow, I listen to you and I understand everything, wooow, and it's fun, I can see that you put your heart into teaching, thanks❤️👍💪

I would say your British Accent is very clear and easy to understand. May I ask, in Cruella movie what type of British accent that Cruella and Baroness speaking? A bit difficult to understand but so cool. Thank you so much for this video you're very good at teaching very confident. 🙂🙂🙂 Perhaps your next video can be content about Cruella movie that would be fabulous. I want to be able to speak British Accent like Cruella movie or if not I would like to try RP accent. Sorry if my grammar is wrong from 🇹🇭 Learning English now. I don't even know what accent that I am speaking right now but I like the British accent like I described and RP.

I thought I'd pick up a bit of an RP accent when I stayed in England for a number of months. I did with a US Southern accent when I lived there. But no, I very much spoke it a clear, standard American accent until the day I left. I didn't even want to use British-isms or words for things. I just didn't want to be accused of trying too hard or being fake.
Damn this is the English I always wanted to learn, Now I can be a Pro with your Support 🙏 ...This is just way amazing videos and very interesting lessons ,I'm happy I found this channel by accident and just subscribed it on the spot .

RP+Cockney+Brummie that is
And you have an aa sound instead of a silent R for -er ending words.
I thought Estuary English was between RP and Cockney.
