That's sooo interesting. Obviously she speaks that way cos of her parents, and lots of 'upper' 'class' folks do to, but presumably that's cos of her parents and could totally be due to the German influence - people imitating the sovereign's sound at the time. Awesome. Thanks for the comment.
Ttoby89 No, as in the royal family is German post WW1 they changed their family name to "Windsor" before it was German also before WW1 the king of britain was literally cousins with Wilhelm II the emperor of germany who started WW1.
Ttoby89 The British Royal Family has been German since the House of Hanover. Then Queen Victoria married a German prince, Prince Albert, so the descendants became the House of Saxe Coburg and Gotha but just renamed it to English-sounding Windsor after WW1. They adopted a different surname but German by blood. In fact, Queen Victoria's favorite grandchild was the German emperor Kaiser Wilhelm II.
what claire foy did incredibly well was get the intonation and pausing right when she spoke. that was very effective one of my friends used to teach at drama school and she was one of his students actually. he said she never stood out in a "wow, she's a star" sense, but what she did incredibly well was take directions and notes. if the director told her to change something, she'd note it down, and she *would* change it, which is very important when you're an actor
Her performance of the Queen Was so incredible! In about 5 seconds after seeing her you really believe she is the queen! A truly outstanding performance!🤞🤞🤞
Right? They should make a UK, grown-up version of The Parent Trap but just use Claire and Emily. And maybe for a sequel cast Sarah Paulson as a US third twin.
Method Man. Perhaps the dopest rapper ever to perform. Such a smooth yet still gritty voice. Perfect flow. Also, he's a skilled freestyle rapper, something most rappers aren't.
The Queen is very much British, George II being the last British monarch to have been born in Germany and Prince Albert being the nearest German ancestor, well over 200 years ago.
Prince Charles has the most emphasised accent of the royals, he often gets parodied or impersonated with a very strong accent saying "heiss" or "dyne" (instead of down), it's a very odd, sheltered accent the royals have. People often think the Queen's English and RP English are the same but the Queen's English refers to the heavily accented English of the upper classes ('snooty English') whereas RP just refers to clearly spoken English that doesn't tend to show an accent, as used by many dignitaries and actors when abroad.
Matt M yes, the standard American pronunciation of house and the RP version (and the Australian version, and likely the standard Canadian, South African, New Zealand etc) all sound the same.
nah that's like 'howse' or much more like British people say it today. US is more like 'haowse' depending on where, but in the video she's doing 'hayss' or 'heiss' or something. Which yeah like other commenters said could well be a bastardisation of the German ancestors' way of saying it.
If The Magazine "In Fashion" was still around those two would be perfect on The Cover but that's what made The Magazine so cool. They bring folks together that you would never think would associate with each other. Jody Watley (EX Soul Train Dancer, Ex Shalamar Member) and Nicolas Cage, or Mike Tyson & Joan Jett.
Her acting on The Crown is so spot on! It makes me question if she is not actually royalty. The casting, acting, costumes, scenary, everything is great except the whole Beryl piece but the whole thing kind of makes you wonder how much pressure The Queen has been under all this time. And why is it just so damn important for everyone to put royalty before their loved ones and lives. Wallace Simpson was not a great choice for the once King of England who was not actually crowned but I think he should have been admired of putting his life and love above a job title.
Both Actresses who played Queen Elizabeth in The Crown were brilliant. Claire Foy got me when as Queen Elizabeth threw the Tennis Ball & Racquet at Phillip, or when they did the Family Portrait, and The Coronation. Olivia Colman also has this stern harsh look at her.
They should at least cast her as young Minerva Mcgonagall in Fantastic Beasts series!
She would be perfect!
No mcgonagall shouldn’t even be there
@@amanekabbaj The Time Turner ruins all.
Like the idea
They chose Fiona Glascott :(
Claire Foy slayed my life in The Crown. She is legit a QUEEN
+Amee yeah, but she won't be in it, though. Olivia Coleman is taking over as Queen)
Comes from a big Irish family - you know that shithole country, Ireland.
Honorable Catsmeat Very true.

YAHHHSSS 🙌🙌🙌 she is the embodiment of a #slaying feminisisisssst.
Claire Foy is absolutely charming in her unique way and heartwarming, made me smile through the whole video.
Ms. Foy is outrageously talented. We'll be seeing a lot more of her.
İnşallah
No words to express her great performance in "the crown"
She's so lovely in The Crown. She's so lovely, period, really.
She’s still the queen to me. One could not forget so easily.
She carried that show and she was getting paid less.....that's messed up.
4catsnow no it’s economics. She is less famous.
She was literally unknown compared to her costar
Sean Thomas In season 1 yes, but in season 2 she should've been paid more cause at that point she was the face of the show.
Sean Thomas ikr. Less demand equals low pay (price). But people started using feminism and blamed how the world is all sexist.....😂
Juliana Silva Lol, ignorance at its finest. I bet you live a happy life! 😂
It feels illegal to watch "the queen" speak like this.
I can't believe Claire Foy is 34 years old! She's definitely blessed with youthful good looks.
How old did you think she was? 15?
What??? I thought she was just turned an adult or something
Shes damnn younger than the actual age
That’s because 34 is youthful dumbass.
I thought she was in her mid 20s for sure. 🤯
Claire is so lovely. Such a great actor.
Now I’m saying “Dirty mouse house” in all different kinds of accents 😂
Why say it, when you can live it? Come back to my place and see the real thing.

what about[?] a 'salt-of-the earth'... a bit of how's your father'.... der-ee m-aw-s... aw-s

Dir-e mahhse, ayhhhs
Claire Foy's depiction of Her Majesty was so decent and brilliant, it made me fall in love with the character she portrayed in the series.
I was so shocked when I saw the first episode and heard her speak. It was the queens voice.
The queen pronounces words such as “house” in sort of a German accent. I suppose this is due to her ancestry.
That's sooo interesting. Obviously she speaks that way cos of her parents, and lots of 'upper' 'class' folks do to, but presumably that's cos of her parents and could totally be due to the German influence - people imitating the sovereign's sound at the time. Awesome. Thanks for the comment.
No thats just the vowel shift repercussions from centuries ago. They probably kept the old style.

That is pretty much great advice for achieving anything in life.

I think Claire Foy and Emily Blunt are the same person. Think about it.... You never see them together.
jogriffuk Dude I loved A Quiet Place
Have you seen her blonde? She turns into Sarah Paulson haha
She resembles Sarah Paulson
hahahahha
Right? They should make a UK, grown-up version of The Parent Trap but just use Claire and Emily.

She was the only actor to make me watch that series. I'm sad if she has to leave it.
I loved Matt before the Crown but I love her because of it!
After watching The Crown, Claire Foy is going to be my fav actress right now
Extremely random combination of actors and I love it
I've been waiting for her to guest in the late late show! thank you James Corden!
man i love Claire she is painfully gorgeous and she's bloody hilarious she's 1 of my fav people right now
Method Man. Perhaps the dopest rapper ever to perform. Such a smooth yet still gritty voice. Perfect flow. Also, he's a skilled freestyle rapper, something most rappers aren't.
When they say "house" that way it sounds like hot in German ahaha "heiss" 😂
Jas Toraay well the queen is german😅
Bolun Xia Hahaha, doooon’t push it.😆
Jas Toraay ...I think it’s a bit of a holdover from the Dutch, ‘huis’. Sounds virtually the same as it does in Holland.

Claire is absolutely positively brilliant in the show! I can’t say that enough!
Claire Foy is a gem of an actress!
Claire Foy can do no wrong in my book #TheCrown ❤️
She's amazing in the Crown. ❤❤
Claire Foy is brilliant and gorgeous!
The kid from stranger things is all grown up I see
You deserve more.
HAHAHAHA you win.
You win the internet!! Lol
Claire Foy sounds EXACTLY like Queen Elizabeth II listen to old recordings!
I will miss her on The Crown. Forever the #Queen
Lol picture the Queen saying, “fancy a drink, govnah?”
Claire foy is a great actress .. I known her in THE CROWN, I'm a fan !
Claire Foy is so beautiful. She Is one of my celebrity crushes.
I so wish she was coming back to continue to play a Queen some more.
I adore you, Claire Foy! Future Dame Claire Foy.
Most of my friends and myself first saw her as Adora Belle Dearheart, in Going Postal. It is nice to see her get a high-profile gig like The Crown!
Matt Smith would get recognised easily because bow ties are cool!!😎💜😎
Claire Foy is fantastic in The Crown and every movie she has done, beautiful and lovely personality !
Emmy winning pronunciation right there.
I wish it was a movie she would definitely get That OSCAR
She is wonderful. Glad more new actresses coming higher
Method man sound like proper Londoner when he says house
It's how almost all Americans pronounce the word. I don't detect any accent when Foy says it.
Matt M yes, the standard American pronunciation of house and the RP version (and the Australian version, and likely the standard Canadian, South African, New Zealand etc) all sound the same.
@@anaussie213 because american accent takes longer to 'evolve' to be distinct but not english people had ages to evolve
Claire Foy is perfect as a human being and actress of course
Im not ready to watch the show without her in it.
She is just the cutest!!

Claire walked pass me on the Oxford Street and I definitely recognized her.
She's such a gorgeous actress.
She was amazing as the queen
They just Pronounce House like in German (Haus)

Makes sense as they are basically descendant from German royalty with the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha connections.
because english is derived from german (and other languages obviously) and old english is a lot closer to modern german than to modern english
Method man looks so good, LOOK AT HIM!
Which one was he?
@@banjopink4409 the black man sitting next to Claire
I absolutely love her on the crown
Queen's English (Received Pronunciation or RP accent) is very refined elite English in Britain. Even Queen's accent has changed over the years.
I need more of Claire foy and Method man are you kidding
She's still my favorite in Pratchett's Going Postal

Claire foy played the best role as queen elizabeth in the " crown movie"
She was amazing in The Crown.
Like german: Haus
she's so beautiful

Ms. Karp!!! She was amazing in Vampire Academey!
how lovely this lady is!

I love her hair in this!
her accent is so class
She is amazing
She is excellent ❤❤❤❤
I’ve loved her since Little Dorrit
Sounds almost German Haus... Well it is the 'Windsors' or as they used to be the Saxe-Coburg and Gotha...

cowgirl boots That’s Queen Elizabeth’s pet name used by close family members.
Lizzie never mixes with real people like Harry did, so the door girl probably thought Foy was yet another retro-London eccentric.
She did a good job as Anne Boleyn in Wolf Hall. I hope we see her performing as Anne Boleyn again in other films.

I'm from South Africa and that's exactly how we are taught to speak in (privileged) schools.
I just finished the second season of The Crown today; the Queen really does have a very unique accent
Unique, yet the standard accent for an empire.... Australians for example still speaks the Queen’s.
Wow Method Man looks so good.
Yes, he does!
Well she is stunning
OMG !!!! She is so awesome I am literally in love with her! She is an awesome Queen 👸 I love 💖 the show the Crown 👑
What do you mean by "literally?" Really. Please explain why you've used "literally" in your comment.
that is her last season right gonna miss her
I ended up saying "House" several times while watching...
I need she and Method Man to do a full scene from The Crown together. This wasn’t enough for me.
I'm going to miss her on season 3!
I don't watch The Crown but Claire is fucking gorgeous!
i adore her!
the secret is to say "haus" and not "house" because they're actually German
Hmmm, whatever makes you feel better about The War Adolf.
1. Smelling shit-gesture
2. Say house
3. Done
She´s great. :)
this might be weird but i am fascinated by Claire Foy's nose... its so perfect!
