Which would you rather take home, the button-down-shirt Integra Type S or the tracksuit Civic Type R? Let us know in the comments!
Acura for the win!!!
Type S
Type R.
Got the Type S three weeks ago. The perfect car for a young professional!
All 3 cars are great…TLX being the 3rd. The only difference, which car will not lose much in depreciation. I think the TLX Type S will depreciate more vs. the Type R or the Integra Type S. I prefer the Civic Type R more than the Inegra.
Right now dealers are trying to sell Integra Type S for $60k or more, while the TLX Type S is selling for $55k or less. Personally, I'd rather save the $5k, and get the V6 Turbo, SH-AWD and all the extra luxuries.
NOT ME, I WILL BUY A FULLY LOADED 2024 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER PHEV AND A FULLY LOADED 2024 ACURA INTEGRA TYPE S PMC EDITION ANYWAY.
@@RichardJoashTanok
No manual tho. Tlx-s is for different buyer.
That being a spec racer. The reason Type R has a markup is because it's actually a better drivers car.
100% and with the 2024 TLX TYPE S! no brainer!
On the second attempt, Acura moves a little and leaves earlier, the slightest movement benefits you.
Gentlemen congratulations, excellent test and work 👍🇦🇷
cars being almost identical in terms of power, winner goes to the better driver. In this case, it is the asian guy in the hat. When he was in the S, he was able to win the 1/4 due to his driving skill. Same applies when he was driving the CTR. The Integra jumped the start. But the CTR was able to basically win the 2nd part of race due to his proper late braking and corner exit.
Equal cars with different pricing! It all comes down to the human factor!
This was a great one guys.
This was terrific to see. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I'm glad that you guys stopped doing the re-runs of each drag and just end it with some chit chat about the cars and how the races went, awesome!
Closest U-drag ever, so cool!
Great race! I wonder if you can add a rolling starting, that could possibly nullify any standing launch traction issues....
Reminds me of the good days racing a stock GSR and Civic Si (EM1) lol
I’m old 😢 but I do miss the intake sound of a b series and/or k series. Yes turbo is faster, but it’s the feel and sound I miss.
Ifeel you i had a 4th gen prelude h22 and my 17 si doesn't even feel nearly the same
Crazy what a difference AWD + auto makes in the the race - even from a rolling start the TLX was 3mph slower in the final trap despite being a full second faster
I've dusted a couple Teggys on the highway in my TLX bc of the downshifting + lower boost threshold, but they're definitely catching up quick, and I'm sure a straightaway half mile would have a different result
I recently bought a Integra type S.. I really had a hard time deciding between the TLX Type S and the ITS. I have driven the TLX with all wheel drive, it was simply mind blowing the way it handled the road. Simply amazing. The fact that the TLX is an entirely original car - frame and mechanical torque vectoring and all- makes it , in my mind the best sedan available on Earth. Truly an engineering masterwork.
AWD allows better launches but it also raises the curb weight, so lower trap speeds. RWD/FWD cars will trap faster because of less weight, but also launch slower.
@@TheBreakfastLoverYes, you can see when they introduce the TLX it has a full pound more per HP than the Integra.
But, to blanket say FWD/RWD cars are faster is misleading; the TLX is particularly heavy in its class. An M340 xDrive would annihilate every car here and still be pulling in the top end, but I'll take the TLX frontend over the 3 series kidneys any day 😁
its a awd straightline car lol, versus a manual track car, ITS dusts the 4200lb boat on any canyon road, and track in terms of performance and driving experience
A day of work for a 12-minute video. Much appreciated
That Integra Type S is sick, great races guys.
The markup kings
Yessssir early morning with it
This is the most dramatic race to 14s that I've ever watch, lol
Thank God they added 150 horsepower to the Civic!!
The 2000 SI would do similar times😅
Keep in mind they are racing at 3000 ft elevation. At normal altitude they are pulling mid 13's.
I love watching this race. I’m also glad you all did the TLX as well. I think a lot of people give shit to the TLX when in reality it’s a great car but it’s not meant to be a M3 or RS4.
Great video! I'd be curious to see what the results would be like with both cars on the same tire (either way). Also, it's clear the engine tuning on the Integra isn't just numbers some paper but essentially these are the same car with minor differences (purposes) from the factory. Either of them can become the other performance wise with a few tweak, so in reality it comes down to three things:
1) What styling you like more (pure opinion),
2) If you really believe assembly in Japan is that much better than in Ohio. Engine is made in Ohio either way.
3) How much you care about exclusivity/rarity/future value.
For #3, the Civic will always beat out the Integra however for that reason, IMHO, it is the lesser choice of the two since it will be more sought out by car thieves, which they can then more easily ship it internationally since the Civic is a global platform and Integra is North American only.
Performance number rundown for the tlx?
Luv U Drag’s !
I wonder if the type r and integra had the same amount of fuel, what the difference in driver weight is?
That’s a good race, neck n neck
There's more focus on kid range power and torque in the Type-S vs the Type-R. From what I've read, there's a different cam gear used in the Type-S and that have helped out
Good thing you showcased the TLX Type S here too. It’s perfection with that V6 and SH-AWD. Sure it doesn’t have a manual but that makes it a perfect commuter.
I wish it had the Concept S’s front end/fascia. That’s the only thing it lacks.
Type s against type s is what I wanted to see!
The engine tuning on the type s is different and apparently works.
Request: TypeR/TypeS vs Golf R (Manual)
Can't afford either, but I'm sure the more well healed appreciate the race.
I think the Mini GP 2021 deserves a udrag video against the JDM Turbo Hondas and the Morizo
i wish yall would do 2 outa 3 races !
Do A Comparison Vs The Original 2001 Type R & Type S Vs The Modern 2020 Version's i would love to see the results. Great Content By The way #Cheers !!!
That would be abusive.
Already done by another channel.
The type R wing has more drag than the type S. What's crazy is, I've seen a bone stock 00 civic Si run 14.9 back in the day @ Atco raceway.. my fbo 00 Si ran the same on 17 in Konig tantrums with completely bald kumho tires.with the cords showing, lol.
Type R is really a great car for the track hence why it's got so much down force. I was shocked that they did only clock mid to hi 14s in the quarter
@@gman3563They’ve gotta be high elevation or something because these are mid to high 13 second cars
That wing slows the type R down massively in the straights. If the Type R didn't have the wing the Type S wouldn't pull that hard on it....
100%..i commented above i did a 14.6 in my rsx type S and all I had at the time was CAI and AVS ES100 tire…Did a 13.9 w/ CAI, Hondata, Cat back, and Header..
2022 Subaru WRX, 39.9 @ 109.2 mph
2022 Subaru BRZ, 39.7 @ 111.2 mph
2022 Veloster N, 39.3 @ 104.9 mph
2023 Integra Type S, 39.0 @ 115 mph
2022 Elantra N, 38.6 @ 108.8 mph
2022 Golf GTI, 38.5 @109.4 mph
2023 Civic Type R, 38.5 @ 113 mph
2023 TLX Type S, 38.4 @ 110.3 mph
2022 Audi S4, 37.3 @ 112.4 mph
2022 Golf R, 36.1 @ 115.0 mph
Crazy thing is that he didn't actually do the pedal dance to turn off traction control completely on the type s, they just used the normal reduced mode. Would've definitely gained some time if they had.
The Type R loses in every comparison I’ve seen but I’ll still take it every time because of its manual transmission and cornering performance. Long live the king of hatches
The Integra type S is manual also
Do watch the videos? Lol
I wonder if the aero(rear wing) may have caused more drag on the Civic Type R compared to the Acura Integra Type S.
What if type S had those tires? It is what it is…
When dyno'd
(Savage Geese, I think) the type S had a bit more torque in the mid-range. It also dyno'd at 10-15 more horsepower than the type R, not 5.
You guys should show the tac
"Kind of Wine Bar."
"Catalina Wine Mixer!"
"Pow Pow!!"
Best U-Drag ever! 🙌
do a race between a ecoboost PP mustang vs a type R
Acura should have put SH-AWD on the Integra Type-S. A little weight but you can see how it helped the seriously heavy TLX.
They were staying true to the Integra heritage as a nimble FF tuner. Also they needed to keep some product differentiation between the tlx and teggy. I think if it sticks around long enough to get a new generation they'll loosen up and add sh awd, or maybe an option for it.
@@alexonstott4954 but they needed to differentiate it from the CTR more.
I hear you and that would be awesome, but don't think the Civic frame could handle it. You'll notice if you look at the Integra type S specs compared to the ASPEC that They drop all sorts of features that cost weight just to be able to put in the bigger engine, better suspension, etc. The gone is the powered passenger seat, rear middle seat ( as a weight limit component ), the sunroof, memory settings, and more. All supposedly to save weight.
I think a race between the Ford Explorer ST and the BMW X4 M40i would be a good race, similar horsepower, size and price.
I am so Happy I went with my GT thank God.. I was looking at cars at this level and it would have never been enough.. For some reason I have had 2 BMW's try me and get delt with.. It's always the Beemer's lol.. I have a 2017 Mustang with the performance Pack and The 373 gears in a Manual. She is an NA monster,, I needed something Violently Fast... It was always going to be the Mustang 5.0 or the Camaro SS for me.. I saved forever until the right car with low miles popped up..
I'm curious to see where a CT4-V would stack up in this lineup. At 325 horse, 3600 lbs, it sits between the cars in weight, with slightly more horsepower than the integra but it's down on power against the TLX. Power to weight would be worse, but RWD and a lot more torque might help it out. I think it'll be closer than it sounds.
Another difference is the wing on the Type R creating a drag effect. Hence the slower time in the straight but faster time in the corner.
Wing is irrelevent in the slow turn but definately causes drag on the straight.
Type R also has grippier tires
@@Andrw025 which should give it an advantage when it launches, but it doesn't so at all with that 6.2s 0-60 time.
@@Andrw025 I just wanted to add that point since I found it odd that they didn’t mention it.
Not about the speed lol
Type s looks better better quality and more
I have a 2024 Civic SI, and it's way louder inside the car than this video or they are not really in it. Both Type-R and Type-S are louder next to mine, but I heard no engine noises here. Just saying, that is kind of odd. And they didn't shift past the 4th gear.. they are 6 speeds.
Great video. The folks at Savage Geese tested these cars on a turbo and the Integra had 15 more Hp at the wheel at the top end. So, go figer.
That's what I'm saying
Yup 15 more peak hp, and 30 more lb ft of torque on the low end.
First time where I’ve seen 5hp matter.
They would be more like cousins in my opinion. The DE5 Acura Integra Type S is the cousin to the FL5 Honda Civic Type R.
😂😂😂 the On God, respectfully part took me out 😂😂😂 another cool vid 😎
I'd be curious to know the actual horsepower and tq numbers of both, maybe ad a dyno comparison to such like vehicles.
Go watch the “savagegeese” video, they Dyno both under the same conditions. Acura is being conservative on HP/TQ…has more than +5 at the wheels
Hp is about +10 and tq about +15 from their factory numbers. Until heat soak then they both drop below 300 hp. I'm building my fl5 right now. Just being held back on a hpfp and injectors from xdi.
The Integra didn't do much better than the WRX and BRZ for the price difference is it really worth it
The risk total cost of ownership is gonna be about the same after the first 50k miles once the Subie engine blows a head gasket
@alexonstott4954 dumb comment , it would still be under the powertrain warranty if that equally dumb scenario happened so no added cost smh.....you're one of the idiots thats paying 80k for these I'm guessing
Maybe the wing on the type R was the thing slowing it down?
Ngl the Integra Type S is a thing of beauty no matter from which angle you look at
So TLX type S it’s slower then Integra type S in roll race 110 mph vs 115mph.
Phenomenal cars, but the dealers markups are abusive to say the least.
I wish honda would bring back the 9th gen accord v6 coupe type car. I got one and its a sleeper car. Its no track car but its quick.
They need to. Bring back the DSG MK8 Golf R
I like the seats/red carpet on the type R but the body style of the type S . At the end of the day I’d probably get the Type R for the seats /tires /carpet also the $5000 price reduction. I really like the body of the Ttpe S with the fender flares and the exhaust
I thought the type r would have did better in the turns just because it’s stiffer. Thought you just throw it in there.
Dude, i almost had ya 😂😂😂
Did Honda get its info-tainment selection noise from a Nintendo 64?
It was not mentioned but those Cup 2 tires may not have been an advantage in this test unless you guys warmed them up first? The cup 2 is not very sticky when cold whereas the MPS4 are good to go at room temperature. Probably would have been better to have both cars on the same tire since virtually no one is going to drive around on cup 2 tires.
Doesn't matter the trap speed alone was higher in the Acura.
This is a drivers race. They can bring more CTRs and ITSs and the result will vary. Both cars are literally identical.
@@Marbind I wasn't suggesting that, they claimed the cup 2 tires would give the FS5 an advantage off the line, and all I am saying is that is not necessarily true. In fact if anything it most likely hurt it off the line. Those tires are meant for road racing so the they have stiff sidewalls and the compound is made to work well when they are hot. Cold cup 2 tires are actually worse for drag racing (which they are not designed for), and even if they were up to temperature the stiff sidewall makes them very hard to launch well (especially with FWD). When they are cold they actually have less grip than the MPS4, and that combined with the stiffer sidewalls...
This is why they are a terrible tire for street driving where they are almost never up to operating temps. So they wear quickly, are terrible in the wet, and offer less performance unless you are driving with extreme aggression for extended periods (which is not easy to do on the street and ill advised). Plus with the stiff sidewall they are not made for launching, they are for going around corners after one or two warm up laps. That is why he was complaining about wheel hop when launching the FS5. While you can use them on the street, it is a really bad idea.
All I am saying is that they should have tried to warm the tires up before this test, and that whenever possible it is better to have all cars on the same (or at least similar tires), and that the cups 2 is not an advantage in this type of test, and if anything probably hurt it a bit. Regardless I agree these two cars are so close as to be irrelevant, I don't understand why anyone thinks this would be a meaningful comparison. We already knew this is the same basic car with different looks, one has better seats and one has a slightly softer suspension, and five more horsepower.
Honestly we need more of udrags, but maybe time to bring in some older cars as well. Would love to see a stock e90 335i vs that new Type-s.
It's like 400 lbs heavier lol, the BMW would get smoked.
@@tealchiefno way
@@Longtimesince look it up bud
@@tealchiefdo you know the 0-60 times? That 335i is legendary
@@Longtimesince you realize no real race ends at 60 lmao
Wouldn't you be likely to see a similar, very small, difference even between 2 identical Type Rs, or 2 Type S? Tiny manufacturing differences would give a tenth of a sec or more, right?
Liked & Subbed !! 💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥‼️‼️
I am getting really good at scrolling through the repetitive starts on these videos. 25-30% through usually puts me at the 1st race.
Same for "This vs That", but where they go over the car builds.
If Type R wing was removed I'm curious has to slow it down
I am surprised nobody mentioned that big giant wing on the Type R, planting the Civic into a 1.25 G on cornering, and giving the Type R and advantage around the cones, but yet, because of too much drag, allowing the Type S to walk away slowly.
The wing would not have made any difference in cornering at the low speeds of this corner. But might have added some drag for lower top end.
Can you please test the Infiniti Q50 RedSport
Nahhh I don’t think many people wanna see that
It's being discontinued
Bring back the m8!
Rolling friction. Stickier tires help with launch but friction works against you at the top end. Helps again through the corner, then hurts again at the other end of the track
The extra in this video is far more valuable.
The wing on the civic will also give it a disadvantage in the straights
Sting looked cool in the Type R
Man I really hope they make the integra type s automatic that 10 speed transmission would probably put it over the tlx
Integra vs Elantra N U-Drag??
Now bring in the FK8?
EXACTLY
I would pull the E brake and get around that a little quicker LOL..
Dealers around me have Type R marked up 5-10k over sticker and the Acura no mark up 👀
TLX has 355 HP compared to integras 320 HP but it's also 1,000 lb heavier. I didn't think a measley 35 extra HP would trump a 1,000lb weight savings by such a large margin.
We want to compare Yaris GR against Elantra N
It's insane that the Integra type S and TLX Type S are essentially the same price as tested a nearly full size car with a turbo 6 and awd smh the Integra is way to expensive
Integra type s starts at the same price as audi S3 which is based on same platform as the Golf and has 306 hp
yeah but the power t weight ration is better in the integra. its faster than a tlx
The integra is more agile than the TLX. It can clock lower times around a track. That is reason behind the price.
The ITS seems to be bigger in the outside but in the inside has the dimensions of a compact.
The integra has more legroom believe it or not.
@@123cornflakemanuhhhh, fast forward to 10 mins into the video.
@@123cornflakemanwatch the entire video, the TLX beat the Integra.
Let's say i have $50k burning a hole in my pocket and i want to purchase a manual transmission "toy" for just fun and looks... Don't care about a back seat or storage. What would you guys pick? I've been leaning towards just ordering a 24 Mazda MX5 and saving $10k. But I'm open to suggestions
BRZ is worth a look. It’s not super quick but it’s fun to drive. Go to Edmunds.com to see it’s rating and get a good price on one.
Need to put either one of these against a 2.0t Camaro. Camaro FTW
I know these are supposed to be track weapons, but the straight line speeds are quite lack luster for the price. I'm hoping it was really hot and a high DA this day.
Model 3P doing consistent low-11sec quarter mile while these two are at 14.6. Definitely hard to justify MSRP for these, much less the mark-ups. Manual transmission and good resale value are a big plus though.
They were racing at high altitude.
Battle of the gods
Did civic type R went full throttle I wonder ?
Great cars but damn they are slow through the quarter here. I thought these things were at least high 13 sec cars. Must be the track or something. Either way, I prefer the integra look since I am 40.
They are 13 sec cars. 13.5-13.8 range. Not sure what happened here
@@SIIKAP1 that is what I was thinking too because I saw many videos of the previous gen doing 13 seconds all day. So, how on earth are these videos showing high 14 seconds with thr new whips. That is night and day. Even a bad track should not take off a whole second to second and a half range.
@@nallis01 Hopefully they were high elevation or something. Because even the SLOW Si does 15.1 in the quarter
They are racing at altitude, 3000 feet will add at least a second to those 1/4-mile times
@@TheBreakfastLover ok. Got it. I must have missed that disclaimer here or in another of their videos.
Integra and TLX are both awesome. I went for the Teggy Type S largely on rear seat room since I occasionally carry people. Different cars for sure though
Driving shoes and shorts, strong look 😆
Before watching- my guess is that this is basically a draw, with maybe the acura having a slightly higher trap speed and the Honda cornering better.
5:02 but the honda has higher areo drag, and at high speeds that makes a difference l.
Please do KIA Stinger vs Genesis G70!
The Stinger was discontinued and the G70 is being discontinued without a direct replacement at the end of its cycle.
I wish they came with an auto transmission 😢 I’ve never even seen a car with a manual in person
Good show but we need a better ctr driver geez 😮💨
2023 C43 AMG vs 2023 M340i please 🙏🏻
Power?
The Integra is 10 HP faster which barely matters. I can't believe the extra 30 wheel on the TLX didn't do more, but not surprising.. It takes a full 50 WHP to really notice with these cars..
How is it that car and driver gets a 13.5 1/4 mile in the civic type r. This test they come out with 14.7. Not adding up
They're racing at high altitude.
We need old school honda drives to bang those gears
