I drive an EN. I like both the Golf R and the Type S. I always see the EN compared at much higher price points. Kind of expect the EN to lose when its under power in comparison but did well. The manual will be slower than the DCT but i love to row my own gears. The EN wasnt built to be a drag car anyway but still fun!
En owner here, I actually looked at buying a golf R before my N. The interior space and mark ups are what killed it for me. Love the EN and wouldn’t trade it for anything in its class but I’ve raced an ITS and a golf R and they were good races. DCT definitely came in clutch and helped out.
The N makes a compelling case, the other two are not $15-20K better strictly from a performance perspective.
The N is definitely the best dollar for performance value wise but if money is part of your buying factor also take into account that in 5-10 years the type s will hold much more value then the N. So you would probably end up loosing more money with the N in the long term
My friend.
If Hyundai decides to make the EN wider, add real sporty brakes, add wider tires and reinforce the chassis to remove braces that gap will be reduced considerably.
Those little things is what make cars like the CTR and the ITS have a performance advantage in the turns over the EN.
The EN is a great car but still inferior.
@@Marbindit's inferior on purpose, they want it to undercut the other cars. They could offer a better car but it would be similarly priced and then people would probably pick the staples such as the CTR. But now it offers 95% of the CTR performance for 80 % of the cost, thus being a good value and being able to draw some customers away
They actually are, especially around a track. And the Type S and R will hold they're value waaay better over the long-term.
@@jec20721correct, the CTR and ITS maintain their value quite well, while the Elantra N depreciates relatively worse.
That Elantra really put up a fight for the integra on the roll race, that was honestly very impressive
Yeah it’s pretty good especially considering it costs like 20 grand less
Fun fact elantra N is faster than gr corolla in roll race
@@Courtesyflush52 Power difference too
@@AwkwardYet not by much though, if any at all. The Type S is rated at 305hp at the crank, but the Elantra N has a 276 horsepower rating at the wheels, so at the crank it’s likely closer to 295-300

Granny shifting. Racing manual, it's always driver’s race.
N wins this one for price range - the ITS barely pulled away from a roll. I own a FK8 and the N is so close in performance and price is amazing for what you get
Loses for reliability.
Can't have it all.

Well no shit its awd vs fwd
Didn’t turn off AC during rolls, didn’t turn off traction control on the dig because when he “launched” he bogged down the Golf and the car cuts power… you can hear it.
@@swiftrevenge1878Front wheel drive trash 😅
The Golf R with DSG will beat all these cars and it's the must livable and practical car here. The Elantra is the Best Value. The Acura is good but the most expensive by quite a sum at least here in the USA.
Golf r is also better mod for mod. Shit my mk7 gti makes 530whp with under $6000 in mods. You can’t beat that. Will also make the most on stock motor. EQT currently has 473whp out of the mk8 golf r with just an intake, intercooler, and E85. The new hybrid turbo is amazing.
yup I hate how they neuter it with a manual in all these videos and claim its slower.... like just use the transmission the car is designed for (better yet, use the best version available of the car - DSG) and compare. R wins against these two FWD everytime. No contest.

Noooo way that the golf R would lose that bad from a roll.

As long as the enthusiasts keep buying the spicy Integra, Acura will keep making it.
@@drivescene6747 valid point
It's just a Civic Type-R re-bodied and re-badged. Enthusiasts will always buy Civic's. That's the only reason they made they Acura again.
@@carlospacheco8640 it’s always been a rebadged Civic. It’s not the only reason Acura exists.
@@drivescene6747 I know that. Not sure if you live in the US or not? Because the old 190hp Intergra Type-R B18 was the only 190hp Honda available here (Civic Type-R was never sold here). That's what made the Integra popular in the US to begin with. Thus, the only reason they made a new one is because the Civic Type-R sold well. The Civic was a test for the Integra. It's all marketing. If you think not, then you know nothing a running a business. Always remember big car companies don't really care about enthusiasts. Just money they provide. Why do you think the A80 Supra/RX-7/300zx/3000gt were all axed in the 90s here = Bad Sales.

All of these cars will make more power with higher octane.
Bms tested the Golf R making 30whp and 20lb-ft of torque more on 95 octane than 91 octane on the stock tune.
That’s significant gains without a tune or any mods at all
The elantra N for the price tag is the winner for me
Its biggest issue is the wheel hop you get at hard launches. It's clear is makes at least the 276 hp it advertises (probably more like 290-295) based on how well it did against the Integra Type R in the roll races.
It’s still ugly as shit
DCT Elantra N is faster than the 6spd manual. If you want to compare the best of the best of the FWD I don't get why you don't use the DCT.

Fun fact: caranddriver recently did a 0-150-0mph test and the Ealntra N DCT was over 5 seconds quicker in the test versus the latest Type R. Main reason is likley the spoiler Honda added that is not as aerodynamically designed as ths previous FK8. That is likley why the FL5 is slighy slower than the FK8 in roll races.
Id imagine the Integra Type S would be closer to the elantra N 0-150-0 test
1) It was a manual EN
2) CTR/ITS gearing isn't optimized for high speed stuff
3) The ITS will have a similar CTR outcome due to the improper gearing for high speed stuff. 4 vs 3 Final Drive ratios is a LOT.
@@Marbind I musta have misread it. I assumed it was a DCT. If it's a manual that's even more impressive because the DCT models are much quicker although maybe similar to 150mph. Why they keep using a manual transmission Elantra N and not the automatic that is faster, and they probably did not do the octane learner on the Elantra N before racing.
Because they are comparing manuals.

The others are more than $10k more. Even $4k into the N and it would destroy the others. Or do nothing to it and be close enough to enjoy and happy knowing you got it for $10k plus less
This channel is great if you want to see people who don’t know how to drive the cars race each other. This isn’t a dig at them it’s just a lack of knowledge about the cars they are getting in and driving. Whenever the owner of the cars drive them, you see a huge difference in how the car performs (assuming they can drive).
Why would you ever bounce off the limiter on a car where the powerband dies up top?
Acura is the supreme one…and a luxury brand vs the other mainstream cars. No comparison.
Korea left the chat 😂😂
It costs 50% more than the Hyundai and was even on the roll, that's pathetic. These are performance cars. The Acura is based on a Honda and has weak luxury doesn't even have rear heated seats
@@roboticvenom1935 Even if it was for an inch a win is a win.
The EN can be cheaper but that car is so ugly that should be considered a capital sin.
But things dont end up there.
Chassis needs visible brace support behind the seats, no real performance brakes, no wide body, no wide tires.
All those little things add up and for that reason it always ends behind the CTR and the ITS.
The only area that is better is in straight line acceleration but only applies to the DCT.
@@Marbindat least the Elantra won’t over heat like the Fl5 the Elantra is honestly more track ready completely stock it doesn’t need any cooling mods just tires, brake pads and camber.

You have to learn how to shift a manual car dude. The young guy in the integra vs you in the Golf R was lost in your shifts. In one of the roll races, he hit the throttle almost a second before you did too You should have switched cars to eliminate the difference. And the one from a dig with the golf r? you left the line at idle . Not a very good comparison in my opinion.
Predictable outcomes, but very interesting to see. The Elantra N continues to punch above its weight (the DSG would take the Integra S in a roll I bet), the Golf R uses its AWD and power very well, and Honda products are as good as ever. Thanks for keeping these coming!
When they switch drivers from Acura i SEE the difference, the second guy do better job than the first one
just race all three cars at once for better results
Don't waste your money and energy in order to run slower. In the past, expensive automatic transmission wasted a lot of energy, so there was a reason to use manual transmission. But with DCT, you can drive faster by focusing on handling and braking. Only 7-speed DSG Golf R wins EN DCT which wins all MT cars(~300hp) even in drag.
Fall sleep in the process because the car does the hard part. No joy.
I had a fast DCT equipped vehicle.
I take the mighty N over those 2!!!
What a beauty is that Integra. Thanks for the video.
Why don’t you add the price of the vehicles in here? I know you used to. Elantra N all day considering its price for the performance you get
Price for performance I agree the N is the best value. But if you also take into account resale value in 5-10 years you would end up losing all of that value saved up front in the N compared to the type s
What would the demand look like if Honda/Acura came out with an automatic Type R/S.
You guys should let us know if Elantra N is octane learner or not since it makes a good difference
Pretty sure the owner that brought it there knows about it 😂
@@kay__519 no doubt, but I wanna know. They could just list it with the specs of the car, plus I think it's important for people that don't know about the car.
Being faster is fun but a drivers car will ALWAYS be fun. My shot box speed 6 waiting for an engine gives me more intrertest than the golf or hyundai n the acura is sexy af and its def okay fwd
Type-S was impressive 👍🏼
Ive seen all kinds of videos golf R beating N big time, why this one it lost? I don't get it? Do we blame on the car, or the drivers? I have a golf R and just dragged with my friend's N, he couldn't even catch up, even I let him run first a bit and he still lost, and I just don't get it why in this video the R lost big time.........
The N is a solid car . I'd buy one but correct I've never seen a stock N in any tranny beating a Golf R except for this channel. Lol.
Octane learned and non octane learned make a huge difference. Over 1/2 a second over the 1/4 and trap 5-6 mph faster over non octane learned. Octane learning makes 40+ wtq more and 20-40whp more over non ol. Octane learned I’ve walked a MK8R dsg. Non octane learned he walked me. It makes that much of a difference sadly, it’s the most stupid thing Hyundai could’ve put in the EN. And it’s ridiculously so much harder to octane learn the manual over the DCT.
@@ctcdarkness Theres vids of GTIs beating Ns without octane learn (DSG/DCT) and even with 91 Octane learned (Seems like you really need access to 93). Definitely one of the worst things hyundai could've done, but havent seen any beat Rs.
@@xibbas7055 - Again the N is a car that I have now noticed. Car has entered a new class and I would buy one over the new bland Subaru WRX or even the racer boy Civic. The Civic would be lit if I was 20 again lol. But I have never seen any video of the N beating a Golf R (even stock) or even a GTI. I don't consider this channel to be even remotely credible.
@@RDriver2.0 This channel is the least credible of them all honestly. No N is ever gonna beat a Golf R stock for stock. The paper statistic will show this time and time again. But here we are with another video where they intentionally neuter the R with a manual transmission and claim its slow. Use a DSG car and laugh all the way down the track as you shit on both of these FWD cars. But we wont see that here on this channel so.....
I must say that the N did a really good job with 40 Hp less.
Underrated. In reality it has more hp.
@@Eugen-Edepends on the fuel. If they go 91-93 octane, it should be near 300-310. Regardless, for a full 10k less than the golf r, it really shows how incredible it is
@@Eugen-E in Germany the N has 20 HP more as Hyundai claimed 😅
And in real life, the EN dct, using launch control will smoke the Acura!
Guys need to get some real drivers
Golf R manual is a full second slower than the DSG. 😂
And?
And I'll take the slower car with a Manny tranny. "I drive the car, the car doesn't drive me"
who cares about the dsg no still requires
@@renaldoharris7951 no still required indeed
so? the manual is infinitely more fun and will outlast the shitty dsg.
Auto EN would perform better/fast on the drag and roll races just fyi
Sam, you are killing it!! The Hyundai Elantra N did very good for having less HP/Torque. They tuned that car well.
Not really
@vicktharula8317wdym not really? It literally shit on the ITS by staying side by side whilst being a $32K car what a joke
@@vicktharula8317 Spit out the Hater-aide.
@@roboticvenom1935Lol dictating the car’s value solely on straight line speed is the dumbest thing I’ve heard. The Type-S is rightfully more expensive considering all the things it does better than the Elantra, not to mention it will be worth a LOT more down the road.
It’s lighter
Closest drag race I have ever seen. Love the looks of the Type-S.
HONDA@ACURA 🏎️🚘💪🏍️👍😍
I have 2 acuras tsx boring then sweeet g3 TL manual aspec 100% epic car ❤it. Then had to get the German beast b7 rs4 it's absolutely 💯 % perfect 👌
@@lancegallant3647 I love my 06 tsx 6mt, its a blast to drive it daily. in it's time its a real sports luxury even to this day. it doesnt have to be fast to be fun, the transmission is solid, and the legendary k24a2 is still holding strong @7600 rpms.
I've driven all three and bought the Type S. I found the clutch heavy on the Elantra and the shifter on the Elantra and Golf not as tactile as the Type S. The Elentra is a tremendous value, but it just didn't click for me. As far as the Golf goes, let me say that the backseat of the Type S feels roomier than the Golf. My wife came with me and nixed the Golf because of the back seat and the salesperson was hostile: "Are you gonna ride in the back seat? That's your passenger's problem." Nuh, guy. My baby and wife are riding in the back seat. He lost our $50k right there.
Integra all day!
Great job on the comparisons. The golf R excels better with lower rpms on roll races. Possibly could of had a better roll race between the golf R and type S. But excellent video with amazing cars. Thank you
Can you let a golf r Driver Drive a golf R
Never did I think in my lifetime i would see a Honda/Acura be the best sounding car in a comparison. Crazy world were living in these days
IDK were you were living or how old you are but the early KSeries were among the best sounding N/A 4cyl out there. 🤷🏻♂️
ITS and Golf R Race, The guy driving the Integra doesn't know how to drive and shift for crap. Should have put someone who knows how to shift. That guy was literally fighting the car every shift. I know that because ITS beats the GOLF R in draggy. Sam you got to get good drivers who actually knows how to shift. Dead were turning in the graves every time he shifted.
Guy in Type S is a great driver
Disagree, the ITS driver did an outstanding job given the conditions. Is a faster shifter than Sam. Look again.
In cold weather is very but very unlikely that a FWD will have enough grip to be able to take out a Golf R from a dig. Draggy still a simulation.
@@Marbind @1bojanbojan both of you need your eyes tested. Either he's paying you or got something on you that you are scared shit to tell him to his face.
@@precisionmotors That is funny. I thought the same about you. Maybe you are the president of his fan club.
Watch the video again. Others had mentioned the same. Pay attention every time Sam shifts in the ITS how it loses momentum.
He’s actually a pretty good driver. The ITS lost because the Golf had the AWD advantage off the line. The ITS won every other race
I'm just glad we still have some options for a while.
Keep buying manuals ppl. If no sales, they will b dropped in the future
My 2024 R is a manual. You're welcome.
I'm glad I got the Integra Type S but the Elantra N was my second choice. Way more power out of the Integra and much more luxury which I prefer the the 3 exhaust pipes and shape of the car are far and away the best
