OMG I can't believe this video came up. I remember watching your mother everyday years ago. I even taped her shows. Unfortunately I don't have a player for the cassettes anymore. I remember seeing you on her show too. Your mom is the reason I started doing crafts. Doing crafts has always calmed my nerves and relaxed me. I bought and used many of her products. I have subscribed to your channel so I know I'll be seeing more fun crafts. Good Luck Ladies. I miss your mom and I've never forgotten her.
I found this video by accident. It was so lovely seeing you on the tube again! I too, used to watch you and your mom on television, many moons ago. I now live in jolly old England and it brought back wonderful memories of all the crafts I used to do. Luckily, Aleene's glue has crossed the pond along with companies using the same color of bottle and similar names to try and imitate this fabulous glue. I am not fooled! Hope I can find more videos or old ones of you and your lovely family. Thank you for being a part of my life! May God Bless and keep you and yours safe!
Hi, gals! I was an avid watcher of all things Aleene ... and I'm so glad to have found you again. I remember learning this technique years ago ... loved it then, still love it now. I'm sitting here eyeing an old book that I plan to turn into an art journal and this would be a perfect technique for the covers. Thank you for all the years you have shared your talents with us; I hope you will continue to do so for many more years to come. God bless.:)
Hi Nancy Bee SO glad you found us! We look forward to connecting with you here on our YT channel! [Tiffany]
This is so awesome -- thank you! I bought an old cigar box and wanted to make a little "memory" box for my niece. This will work out wonderful. I was planning on using some old jewely pieces from my mom her has been gone for 12 years (the pieces that no one wanted but I am oh so glad I saved!). I also have some old watches and never even thought of those to adorn with. Then there's all my stampin embellishments. It will rock!
So glad I saw this tutorial! I make a box for my mom every xmas and her birthday so when I saw this, I knew I was going to use this technique. It turned out GREAT! Thanks!!!
So glad you are on YT. Watched you all on your mom's tv show years ago.
Never miised a day, it wasn't morning without Aleens.
Loveing all these crafts and am having fun doing them wit my friends.
Hi Colleen Ciecura So nice to hear from you! It's always great to reconnect with our Aleene's fans! [Tiffany]
What an awesome technique. I painted mine with the brown caramel, and ginger alcohol inks. Came out gorgeous. Thanks for inspiring.
I miss your show. I remember getting my kids off to school and grabbing a coffee and just chilling out watching you and your mom...
Awwwww, thanks Lynn! It's great to keep connected with our Aleene's fans! [Tiffany]

I remember the show too! I would not miss a show!
I like it. The black paint really gives it dimension and a rustic look. Makes it more realistic, and not just like "oh it's aluminum foil". Nice job.
Just came across your video and wanted to thank you for taking the time to produce it and share your ideas. Great technique ... nice to see something different.
WOW haven't seen you ladies in years. Brought back wonderful memories of my son and I watching the show ❤
Thanks Irish Rose :) Great to reconnect with our Aleene's fans! XOXO Tiffany
Love this technique! I remember seeing on the Aleene's craft show that I used to tape every day as I was at work and watched it at night. I did this forged foil technique on so many things, my husband at the time was afraid he would be next! LOL!!! Thanks for bringing it back along with any and all other techniques used at that time. I so enjoyed all those shows!!
Amazing results with such simple supplies - that's a GREAT technique. Recycling a coffee cup sleeve knocked me back in my chair! LOL. Thank you so much for the ideas.
Of course some people will try and find the one thing…of course they are glued on.
I really love the crafts you do. Sounds like your Mom started you two out with crafts, love and fun!
Loved your Mom and loved you all. So happy you are on YT for us xoxo jonnie
I really miss crafting with Eileen! I am happy to see you both in such beautiful condition and hope you are well. thank you so much for sharing
Diane- Thank you.. It is a great technique, as you can use it for so many things. My sister forged foiled the walls in a small bathroom years ago... it looked fabulous!
Thanks Jonnie! So glad to reconnect with our Aleene's fans! [Tiffany & Heidi]
I love the effect! My mom actually did this when I was very little and I never knew how. The addition of the black paint gives it a look of depth and makes it really unique! I have a couple of broken vases that I'm going to do this on! Thanks for the tips, love it!
I've been watching Aleene since I was a teenager and now I'm 65. I still enjoy her inspirational ideas.
Hi Sue Ann! Always great to hear from our Aleene's fans! We miss Momma Aleene and are so grateful to have watched throughout our lifetime how she changed so many lives through creativity. [Tiffany]
I've also achieved the look of forged copper, bronze, gold and brass by painting the foil. Acrylic in metallic colors looks pretty in both bright and antiqued faux finishes. Thinned acrylic paint in black, brown, grey or verdigris offers lots of variety to compliment any decor.
Yes! So many cool looks can be made with this technique! TFS!
Boy was I ever excited to see you, Heidi. I watched your Mom's crafting show from it's onset for a long time after. I sure have missed not being able to watch it on TV. I even remember when she had you on the first time you appeared on the show. I think you and Tiffany have done a wonderful job and I enjoy making the crafts you demonstrate. You're Awesome !!! I am so grateful that you share your talents with others the way you do, and your demonstrations and explanations of the "how to" are so easy to understand. Thanks a million.
Thanks Peggy Granberg It's so nice to reconnect with our Aleene's fans! Glad you are joining us here at Cool2Craft [Tiffany]
I used to watch your mother on tv all the time, so glad I found you!!! I love this technique. I make my own cards and I will definitely be using this technique to make some masculine cards for my family and friends.
Happy to see you on utube... I used to watch tv once in a while when they had nice shows on like yours! Like this craft, you could always use what you had onhand. Wonderful... I am going to go do a sample now so I will remember to use this next crafting session! xoxo
I'd forgotten about this technique which some of my mom's friends used. My mom only looked on - the craft gene seemed to have skipped a generation (her at least) but fortunately hasn't skipped my kids or grandkids! Interestingly I have a newspaper clipping of her and friends doing this work in a Sioux City Iowa newspaper back in the 50's. But as I said, she was an onlooker! Thanks for posting!
Very cool. I got started crafting watching your mom on TV. The way you decorated the box is so pretty. Great ideas always. TFS!!! :-D
Wow what a blast from my past..HI HEIDI.. Its been a long time :) I did this tech on a frame for my Mommy. Its still on her wall with a pic in it..Take care!

I get so excited when I see your WONDERFUL techniques...it helps when I get the creative Blues.
I remember your show on TV along time ago. Nice seeing the tutorial videos here.
That's really cool, thanks for the tutorial! I found that if you use a metallic silver basecoat with a thin coat of whatever color you choose you can get a similar finish
This is a great idea as party favors. Your mom is blessed. Thanks for sharing.
This was awesome! A wonderful idea, something my niece & I could do together. Thanks!

I've been doing this with my grandchildren since you showed me how! They love it! Thanks for sharing.
Love this! Great work, and how neat that your mother and friends did this in the 60's. Neat craft tradition to hand down. Thank you for sharing. I'm an art teacher for middle schoolers and will try to think of some way to share a project with my students :)
i wasn't looking for this craft project but Bless God because I love this and will use thise as a card holder at my wedding instead of buying one. 🤗🤗🤗. thank you for sharing such amazing inspirations.
Thanks Maryjane1340! So delighted to hear that you enjoyed Momma Aleene's vintage project technique!
wow can you make jewelry with this? if so will you please do tutorial making jewelry with this technique? I love love love your videos. You guys are so creative!
I'm a fan of the Aleene's show from way back. I'd get up early on Sat. to watch it. No DVR, video, Tivo back then. As I am watching Heidi struggle a bit with the Tacky Glue, I'd like to know if you've ever considered putting it in a jar similar to what cold cream comes in. It would make it a bit better for those of us with arthritis. Using a small plastic knife to remove and spread it would be helpful. You may already have this on the market. If so, overlook my comment.
10-plus years down the road, and it's still cool!
I love the look of this technique. It looks great with cogs under it too. Thanks for sharing 😊
Yes, this technique looks great with cogs. Super cool for a steampunk effect!
I seen this video when I first started doing art and I use this technique often. I love how you ladies respond to ur comments even when their from idiots and morons who think you owe them something. Thanks for the ideas of other textures that's why I came back to this video I remember you giving some but for some reason I was at a block. thank you
My mind is swimming with ideas! Thanks!
Heidi and Tiffany, I watched your show every Saturday morning. I also own The Big Book of Crafts Binders. I still use the ideas. In fact our home mission group PFMC-Helping Hands will be doing a few more of the crafts for Operation Christmas Child boxes.
Hi Carol! So nice to hear from you. Those Big Book of Crafts were definitely a labor of love. We still reference them too! So happy to reconnect with our Aleene's fans! [Tiffany]
What a great idea! Thank you so much for sharing. Greetings from Malaysia!

Thanks, just found your site...I teach patients at Hospice and always looking for inexpensive, fun ideas that look great and can be done in a couple of hours. This is perfect! P.S. I am a metal sculptor and can't really take my welder and plasma cutter to work with my team.
Thanks ThisTrish SO happy you found Cool2Craft and are so grateful that you are teaching at Hospice. Crafting can bring such joy. This sounds like the perfect project for you!
So glad to find you are the 'new' Aleens
Idk what's with the dislike bar. But yeah, it looks faaar better on the vid than on the thumbnail somehow! I really love the idea and the texture. Thank you for showing us these tricks!
Tamara...So excited you liked this technique! Enjoy!
Very systematic instructions about the preparations pf art thing. Nicely shared new idea. I am going to try it definitely. Happy and artistic new year 2019.
Thank you @alkachitnis! We hope you enjoy creating with this technique!
Great idea Debbie! This technique would be great for a man's project!
Oh girls I am so glad I found you. I have missed all of you so much. I was such a follower of your mom's show. I loved it when you joined her. I sub'd to you and I have a lot of friends that will also. Thanks so much..TFS God Bless
That looks great! My husband bought a box to wrap my Christmas present in. It's a pretty
Big box. I am going to turn it into a jewelry box for my daughter.
Thanks Linda!
No, the acrylic paint does not rub off the foil. If you like, you can seal with a spray sealer but be sure to test on a small sample first to be sure that the sealer is compatible with the acrylic paint.
Love the Box ,and hopefully I can make one . Thanks for sharing .
So many ideas where this can be applied...you could glue thick yarn or cording to write in cursive names or initials....glue on lentils or small pasta for texture...great to remember some things can be so simple and yet so chic. Thanks!!!
WOW so simply but so beautiful.. I am assuming you line the interior of the box with fabric if you haven't fully covered in the foil ??
Thank you so much for the tutorial. It was very simple to follow.
Daphne Dolan Thanks Daphne! So glad you stopped by our channel!
So delighted to hear this Althea! This is one of my favorite techniques from the Momma Aleene archives! [EcoHeidi]
Hi - thanks for the tips - great technique. did you mod podge (or other finish) the box when finished? Does it need it?
Thanks - Julie
Great tips! You can also get aluminium tape from the hardware store - it's essentially foil with an adhesive backing. I've done this for costumes to fake the look of metal. A little brush of paint and it looks great.
astrangeone Yes astrangeone! Great idea!
You did not show how you finished the inside of box top and bottom. I love it , many years ago I had purchased Arleen's Craft Book I believe I still have it in my Shed I loved her and her work, I am so glad I found you guys. God Bless
We're so happy you enjoyed it!
We're so pleased you liked it!
You have a true gift! Thank you so much for sharing!

Very creative.....I have so many ideas for this technique. Thanks for sharing :)
Thanks for stopping Zoila Rivera !
I actually like it! Especially with embellishments. can make keepsake boxes for hubby.
Yes Johnny Crochet! Other lightweight metal sheets can give you a similar effect. We have also used colored florist foil for this technique. [Tiffany]
what a FANTASTIC idea! Thank you so much!!
Thank you sweet girl I have loads of 8track tv classes from you your mom your sister friends but now my sweet husband passed away last year and. I can’t play them yet cause I don’t know how to plug them to work but Iv found you on here with this forged looking box Happy New Year and God bless .
Thank you Hummer Klein! Always happy to reconnect with one of Momma Aleene's fans! [Tiffany]
Idea super meravigliosa, bravissima!
Complimenti!!!👍
Thanks Paola!
Yes this technique would work on hard plastic. We suggest that you sand the plastic surface first. We have not tried this technique under high use (not sure how you are planning on using the hairbrush) so it will be important to seal it thoroughly.
I love this, it looks cool to me. I’m going to try it . Thanks. Janice
Thanks Janice Bradford! We love this vintage Momma Aleene technique!
