  • Here is a simple technique on how to make an antique art with oxidized effect. I have made it as simple as possible with clear steps. This technique with slight variations can be used to create variety of effects. In future, I will also show how this magnificent technique can be used on other surfaces. But for, now, I am using it on a plain, primed canvas, by creating a tree with the help of our friend, the glue gun. At the end, the painting looks more like a fossilized tree. I guess, this technique gives unique nature to different paintings/creations. I hope you guys enjoy the video. Please share your thoughts, in the comment section down below. Let me know what I should make next or, on what, I should use this technique. Don't forget to like, share and subscribe...
    Have a great day ahead! :) :)

I was going to simply write, this is beautiful. Until you asked at the end for us to share our thoughts and comments. So I will. This touched me in a way that’s hard to describe. Tonight I spent what I strongly feel will be my last Christmas Eve with my Mom and Dad. I’ve cared for them the past year and I’ve watched them grow old. And Gnarly. But this painting made me think of my Dad and his hands. How, one time they were young and picked me up and dusted me off. How they worked hard to provide for my Mom, my sister and I. How they started to age and still were strong. And now how they shake. How they are clean when once they only became clean after a week of vacation. He was a mechanic. But now he’s a shaky, thin man. He’s bent, but will always seem strong in my eyes and heart. I needed this I think tonight as I believe soon he’ll be moving on to a better place. It just hit me so very strongly tonight that I’ll have to learn to live without him for a while. And I’m grieving, although I can still at this moment touch his hands and hold him close. But thank you, for this beautiful painting. It looks strong, but we don’t know how long it will be with us. And it makes me grieve.

Thankyou for sharing your thoughts. I am glad my painting connected with you in a positive way and I am sure he will be moving on to a much better place. God bless you and your family. May he provide you with strength and courage.

I was so touched by reading what you wrote about your parents. They sound like wonderful people. I can appreciate how difficult it is watching those you love decline and grieving over what is being lost. In my own journey of caring for loved ones, I realized the depth of grief was because of the depth of love that was there and how blessed I was to have been loved so much and to be able to love back. Without that love, there would be no grief. Loving is its own reward both in what we receive and in becoming the kind of people who can love back. God loves your parents even more than you do and He's surrounding them with tender loving care and He's doing it through you. You are His blessing to them. May God encourage your heart as you stay the course and enjoy what you can with them each day. And know too, that you are never and will never be, out of His watchful care. He will give you what you need when you need it. May the Christ of Christmas bring His peace and even joy to you and your family.🌲

Vickie Keeton I don’t know u, but my prayers are going out to u Vickie. That tree really does stir up something in us. I can see how it makes u think if ur parents. They are the tree from which we came. I lost both my parent within 3 months of each other in the early 90s. They were both in the early 60s. And here I am now is my early 60s. Although this time of years brings sad memories, this artwork makes me smile and thank God for the joy of art, for gifts like this that brings joy to others all around the world! That let’s me know that God is here with us and in us. Be strong my sister and hug those parents! 😌 Thank you Blackbeard! ❤️

This is stunning. All my life I have battled with demons, depression and abuse. I was watching every stroke, every spot of paint and all I could think about were the amount of storms this tree (all trees for that matter) had faced, they’ve been battered and bruised by winds, rain and some are knocked down but as I look carefully and think about it, I’m like a tree. I’ve endured many storms in my lifetime but here I am, I’m wearing scars but like this tree, after everything, I’m still here, standing strong and more beautiful than ever. Thank You so much for sharing and for lifting me up today. 🙏🏻🙌🏻🙏🏻

I've watched this several times now. The feelings it evokes in me-and obviously many others here-are powerful. I felt like *this is what art is supposed to do.* Art is *meant* to stir emotions and thought. The more powerful the feelings, the more powerful the art. I just want to thank you again for sharing this-and all your artwork-with us.
You inspired me to try this myself... using a crappy little glue gun and some watercolor paper. Even with inferior tools, I still made something that made me smile... and want to create more things.
    Thank you.

The first time I watched this .. I fell asleep .. NOT for any other reason than the music just totally relaxed me and away I went ! So .. a couple of days later when my Therapist came to do my Reflexology .. I played this again. I had the screen minimised so there wasn't a picture .. just the music. She asked me what it was .. so I showed her. We ended up watching the video all through ... and she LOVED this so much. So .. the day after what did I do? Yep .. I got all my craft stuff out .. ran out (well .. hobbled more than ran haha ) and bought any bits I didn't have .. and I made her one. She was absolutely over the moon. Thank you .. for the video .. the inspiration .. the music ... and for giving me reason to get off my backside and get back into crafting. I have MS .. and am in remission from Cancer at the moment .. so it felt absolutely wonderful to just forget everything for a while ... and create ! Thank You :)

This was truly beautiful. Thank you. I remember my Mum doing this back in the 80's but instead of the glue she glued down different textures of string and fine rope to make the tree. Once dried she glued down aluminum foil over all of it, pressing it in to all the creases and nooks and crannies. Once that was dried she used boot polish to stain all the aluminum. It turned out so well. I was surprised at the results because my Mum was not really an artsie person. ♥

When it comes to UA-cam, it always helps to remember that some people think downvoting a video is how they stop getting recommendations for videos like it. So there will always be a small percentage of downvotes on every video for that reason.
There's really no excuse for those people not knowing about the proper way to do it. But there's nothing wrong with just not being interested in painting.

    • @sandraberry3155
      @sandraberry3155 5 років тому +3

there will always be haters out there Connie, it's not that they don't like it, it's that they are jealous that they have no talent, or a creative bone in their body, it's like when someone tells me my paintings our NICE, nice, I can smell the jealousy a mile away. See that's when I know I have done something worth envying, so I go with that.. hahahaha

Although im not entirely sure why and im still sorting all the emotions I was feeling, but I wanted you to know that you inspired me and touch my soul in way that is a bit foreign but wonderful none the less. I aspire to touch someone with such emotion when they look at something I create. Thank you for renewing the fire to continue, as I had lost my inspiration, put down my paints and felt the loss of my creative outlet in all areas of my life. Thank you seems inadequate. Magnificent! Brilliant pieces that you've brought into this world. Have you considered or do you sell your pieces of art? I love the smoothness of the glue against the texture of the canvas. Have you ever tried it on burlap or any other materials? Are any of them done as a gallery wrap? Also, must the base medium be pre-stretched around stretcher bars or can you stretch it gently later? Do you think it could be done as successfully on material that you have no plans on stretching later but framing in a shadowbox frame? I'd probably just lay it over double-thick cardboard and pin it in place making sure the grain of the medium remains in line.
Keep producing your magnificent creations and let me know if you ever sell them!
P.S. Have you ever tried this on a wood pallet or branch slice? 👨‍🎨🖼🎨

I am going to try this when my arm is feeling better...pretty and unique! I am rediscovering my glue gun in fun ways like this. I bought a designer fashion necklace a while ago. The price on it was reduced because some of the faux gems were missing. I decided to place some drops of glue onto a sheet of paper. Once the glue dried, I used some scissors to cut the glue to match the shape of the missing gems. I then used nail polish as a paint to match the exact color I needed then placed the shapes inside the prongs and WHALA...thanks!

I have four individual frames of the same size and have been looking for a design to paint that will connect them into one theme as they highlight the four seasons. This is going to work perfectly. The trunk will be split between the summer/fall frames as the antique silver moves into antique gold; and as the leaves move from deep emerald to rustic colors. Winter will feature bronze with sparkled white snow flurries around bare branches. Spring will be a brilliant silver-backed leaves with glints of water droplets and maybe some flower buds. Each picture may require a steampunk butterfly that moves through the pictures from worm/cocoon/wing stretch/flight away to warmer places. Thank you for posting.

I'm elderly and can no longer do the fine painting I did on my crafts and was looking for something to do and share with my grandkids. This is perfect!!! Thank you so much for sharing your technique and beautiful results!!!

I am moved beyond words too! I’ve never seen a piece of Art like this! I
Honestly don’t have words to describe how Your Tree reminds me of Life’s Cycles.
I am having the 8th. Straight day of top to bottom Fibromyalgia pains like I’ve not had before or for so many days. I’m feeling like this tree. Old & Gnarly, but no where near as beautiful.
I have Canvases all prepared, a Glue Gun & Glue, Gold, water & Black & Green Paints. I feel horrible, yet I know I’ll feel better if I go start right now! I will not try to make a Tree like Yours ~ because THAT is YOUR Tree, but I thank You for sharing & how it made me feel. You are absolutely amazing!
God Bless You for Your Ingenuity & Talent.

Jeannie, I have terrible fibromyalgia too, with chronic fatigue and Lyme. Moringa capsules or powder in orange juice every morning and afternoon really help! As do Espom Salts baths, using a LOT of the salts: 1 or 2 lbs, not cups. Hot bath soak until the hot water runs out (or 20 - 30 minutes) and all the pain goes away. Along with watching inspiring videos like these.
I might actually finally be able to sit up long enough to give this incredible technique a try! Can't wait, really.
      Hope you feel better soon!

Thank You Catherine!!!! I am So Sorry You have so much to deal with. I do the Epsom Salt Soaks too & will try the capsules. I live in Spring, Texas & the weather has been wet & cold (for Texas!) & I’m hoping the longevity & more intense -pains 24/7 are due to that.
However, I think it’s likely just getting worse. Doctors only want to prescribe Lyrica & get me out the door. I’m refusing that, so far! I’ll try Your suggestions . What are You doing for the Fatigue? I have days (and DAYS!!!) that it’s an effort to tap-tap & even hold my cell.
I did do this & as always, I get so focused, I’m well aware I’m hurting, but I am more able to accept it.
I did a tree, but not like this ... AND way more gargoyled. Aaaand. I’m not CrAzY about it, but will definitely use this technique again 👍
Thank You so much for Sharing Your treatmentS for Your Fibromyalgia. I’m near my wits-end right this very moment.
May God Bless You this New Year with kinder health Catherine.❤️🙏❤️

Once I saw that it was art I was shocked that I guessed so wrong. My phone has a small screen and it's really crap. Anyways, I loved watching this, my brain was awakened. Ironically, I have this very theme in my head that's been percolating for a while. I refer to this method as dead trees or abstract landscape. I don't know what the art world calls it & true Artists don't care, right? I'm going to do this but use the wall-sheetrock going up my stairwell. Thanks for the tips... I believe if more people would make time to slow down and really study God's Creation down to every detail they could see His hand at work. Everything has a purpose, a need , a job to do and a Creator. I look at a massive Oak and I imagine how long that tree stood growing and the seasons of time it experienced good and bad. So many different varieties and shapes and sizes. How can one not relate to these trees? The Bible speaks of us to be well rooted in His Word so we can weather out the storms of this life like a tree. O The well rooted ones when planted together join together pulling their strength from each other as the root systems intertwine for support against powerful winds. The Bible also speaks of us having Faith in God , even if it as a small as a tiny mustard seed , for within that tiny seed holds a large tree. The massive Grandfather Oaks all grew from a small acorn nut, having withstood throughout many events in our history and still living today...if only they could talk. I've never seen a happier animal or child than when they find a tree to hang out in. God knew what He was doing when he created the trees on this earth. They all have a job to do. Such as provide oxygen for sustaining life. They provide a home , shelter even a food source for animals as well as humans. Comfort, medicine from the bark and shade from the heat of the day. Some can produce a variety of colorful Fragrant Flowers for Bees, Fruits, Dates and Nuts. Their wood used for the building of Homes, Boats, Fences, Barns, Furniture, Art pieces. Logs cut from fell trees and loose branches used to build a fire for warmth lighting up the darkest night and just plain relaxing by. Well I could go on and on but you get the idea. Trees are one of the most beautiful and useful life sustaining part of our earth. I don't understand why so many people complain because of the falling leaves into their yard from these beauties. Their usefulness in providing oxygen and absorbing pollution and root system that cleans the water is worth more than worrying about a few falling leaves during fall. Love the idea you had for capturing the "Tree" in your Artwork. If you have the room , plant a tree or two. God gave man the earth so lets take care of it and help in sustaining nature by replanting, seeding, and if you have the room ...find that special "Tree" that means something to you and plant it .
