I love that you just go for it. I waste so much time checking things out my energy and creative sparks gone before I get on with what I wanted to do. Your style has encouraged me to dive in and see what happens. I love seeing a true crafter at work. Thank you
I took a class from one of my favorite designers, and that was my biggest take away. Just go for it and if it is not perfect, it will still be perfectly fine! It was SOOO liberating. Not to say I no longer ever fuss and do the very things you are describing. LOL I do. :)
Just exactly what I did yesterday- spent the day researching something, than getting distracted & looking at other crafts. Then the day was gone! Nothing physically accomplished! 😔😔😔😔☺️☺️
Hi I’m a newbie to embossing but I used foil and put a double sided adhesive a4 sheet on the dull sided enough to cover the whole piece. Attach it to cardstock that you want to emboss and just peel off the other side and place it on the card you want to use.
I’m thinking of doing this on small flat boxes ( a former student smoked a lot (🤮) and when I saw the boxes they came in, asked him to save them for me). They are the perfect size to cover in embossed foil ( sticky back paper the best) use alcohol ink and embellish. I’ve been making ornaments for friends and family for years and am in need of new and different ideas! Thank you for helping me with this year’s ornaments! 👏👏👏🥰🥰🥰
This looks really nice, I've done this last year or maybe 2 years ago already, and when I saw you putting the foil/paper in the folder, I was talking to you: you are going to have glue coming out of it... you have to wait for the glue to dry..😀 I just recently purchased those exact same three bottles of alcohol inks, I haven't used them yet, but that is a great way of colouring the foil. Thanks for another great video!!
Can you please tell me where you got the beautiful medallion die? Are they also Tim Holtz? This aluminum trick is fantastic. I want to try using them on Christmas tree balls as decoration. 👏👏👏👍🏼👍🏼 Perhaps if I spray water on the cardstock side I can get them to bend enough to use on a styrofoam or plastic ball.🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
A thought. You could use ‘plumber’s’ tape ( what my brother’s called it) . It’s a roll of tape that has a thin layer of real aluminum and is very sticky. I think it is heavier than kitchen foil. I use it a lot for various crafts.
Hello! I bought it a few years ago at Hobby Lobby but I don't think they carry it any more. It is a Tim Holtz 3D Impresslets embossing folder if you want to try and search for it. It is made made by Sizzix.
Where do you get those 3D embossing folders from and can they go through a normal cuttlebug machine? ❤️this idea ~ given me new ideas for my bookbinding covers!!
Hello! I bought them at Hobby Lobby, but you can get them from other crafting stores as well as from Amazon. These are Tim Holtz ones, but there are some that other companies make...I just don't remember the name/s. :) They can go through a normal machine. like a Sizzix. If you have something like a Cuttlebug (I think that is what it is called, they only do the thin dies or regular folders) I am not sure if they would work. I have never tried it though. I hope that helps!
Hi I'm totally new here so can you please tell me what is the exact name of the 3D embossing folders you use or share a link from amazon maybe? many thanks @@BirdNestBooks
I have found if you just glue it to the paper and let it fully dry it is perfect! I think if you use a thicker foil but have wet glue you are going to still have glue come through because of micro tears from the embossing. Have fun!
It is a fun little experiment. I am sure there are other fun and unexpected things we can do with tin foil without the folders or machine. Now just to discover these fun things! Thanks for sharing with me. :)
Why don't you put some antique white wax over it? Or just some white paint rub it over top. Hit the hit the hotspots and it'll make it look really pretty if you do snowflakes. If you do the embossing with snowflakes that will look Beautiful with the hotspots. Yeah painted blue and then do white or glitter on it would be really pretty
Hey your tutorial reminds me that in all my searching for hints and tips. One tip was that tin foil sharpens your die's so not only do you get great effects your helping your dies. (Fingers and toes crossed that's right) check it out
I don't think the glue came through the foil, I think it was on the card that you used to smooth it out and when you smooth out the foil, you can see the streaks of glue on top.

Some other brilliant person mentioned they did something similar. Love the idea! Thanks for sharing it.

Use contact paper instead of cardstock - matching colors/patterns or clear. Works like a charm!
What a great idea! I love the results too! Both of the effects are wonderful!
Thanks so much! I appreciate those encouraging words. :)
Great experiment! 👏👏👏👏👏
I love, love, love the medallions especially! Wonderful new technique!

Too funny!!! I was so perplexed when it happened. LOL I hope you enjoy the inks, Geesje. :)
I found using double sided adhesive sheets cut to size then use your embossing folder. Turns out amazing 🤩
Brilliant!!! Thanks for the tip.
But does the aluminum go on smoothly? That stuff is very sticky??

Oooh, I like this! Doily rounds are pretty cool! Thinking use a very small round one as closures for pockets.
That is a great idea! I think I will try using one like that too! Thanks for the encouraging words and inspiration. :)
Okay you know I am going on a search for medallion dies lol. love the results.
FABULOUS!!! I've not paid much attention to dies lately -- those medallions are really interesting! Hmmmmm......
Thanks, Kathleen!!! These dies are wonderful! It gives a 3-D effect and cuts them out. Really are wonderful.

would love to know about who makes the medallion folder you used if you would be so kind .

Hi, i just see your video and i love it. I would like to know the name of the small 3D folder. Mc
Gosh, I am not sure of the name. It is a Tim Holtz product. I hope that at least helps in your search. :)

Where do you get the plastic book thingy....we wanna do crosses in my art class...can't find the stamp thingy anywhere
It’s called an embossing folder
Glue did not sleep through the tinfoil. You applied it when you used the same card to smooth the glue out.

How can we make this customised die ? any ideas
Is that Aluminium foil rather than tin foil?
cool
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
I think you had glue on your card when you went over the too.
Since making this video, I now glue up a pages and let them fully dry overnight. It works great that way! No glue problems now. :)
Ftom where can i buy this tin foil in 🇺🇸
Hello! This is normal tin foil that you get at the grocery store. Nothing special. That is what makes it all the more fun!
You said "We", so you had some help...that is how Realtor's make it..others help them.
