On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8. - Ігри

Thanks for watching guys and what are your thoughts about Iranian acquiring the SU-35 ? they were talking about Su-30 and even J-10 at one point but I think everyone would agree Su-35 is the stronger option if they're allowed to get it, which to be honest, with the recent cooperation with Russia seems almost certain. Anyway would love to hear your guys thoughts. Thanks for watching and I'll see you in the next one, Much Love.
Now we need an Iranian Su-57 Felon vs F-22 Raptor dogfight.
F-14 Tomcat vs. Six - Ten MiG-28s. Or you could do MiG-21s.
I wonder right before merging like in round 3, enemy was close and straight ahead. Could you not take him with the guns or is it a sportsmanship/gentlemanly thing?
If Tom Cat flew a Tomcat, what would Jerry Mouse fly or drive?
The Su-35 "story so far" on Iran...
Egypt ordered the Su-35SE because Russia doesn't impose certain restrictions like America does.
eg: Egyptian F-16s are neutered to not being able to fire AIM-120 AMRAAM. Egyptians are reliant on AIM-7P Sparrows! (But neighboring Israeli F-16s get the full capability. Yeah, the Israel Lobby is powerful in USA.)
...The order was placed for the Su-35SE, planes were being made in Russia, and deliveries started happening.
America was not happy (Su-35 poses a problem for Israel) and put political pressure on Egypt to cancel the Su-35 acquisition.
The planes have been paid for, so what to do with them? Iran is looking to replace their F-4/F-5 era planes and eventually the F-14. The Su-35 is qualified to fire the R-37 and can carry 4 of them...Which is perfect for what Iran needs as a Tomcat/Phoenix replacement. So they made a bid for 24 of the former "Persian Flankers" (Su-35SE).
If the deal goes through and Iran also gets the R-37 capability, then Israel will have a problem if they try to go after Iran's nuclear facilities with an air strike. Their F-35Is don't have the legs to reach the target without tanker support. Tankers are extremely vulnerable to a long range BVR weapon like the R-37.
It would be interesting to see what a 2-circle really does in a fox-2 dogfight
I didn't know the F-22 was used in field plowing. I learn new things every day
That's the stealth: you never even knew it was there.
Stealthy plowing, I love that 😂
@@MisterLEM0NS 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That and popping balloons after birthday parties
This comment got me cracked up😂
GS’s main weakness seems to be sometimes putting good nose down too much in fights, a frequent reluctance to opt for the flat scissors over the rolling scissors and over eagerness to descend towards the ground in rate fights.
GS rate fights on the deck only because fighters usually rate better at low altitude. He also need to maintain speed for a rate fight which is why he dumps his nose.
Yeah I noticed that too
Gun snap timing is frequently a little late too but overall he's great and this is just nitpicking!
I didn’t understand a word of that but I agree
tbh trying to get down to the deck for rate fights is a good practice
I have to say, Longshot is awesome with the SU, the way he moves it just seems like a dance in the sky. I enjoy him using flat spins and making the rudder do the work for low speed.
I'm just gonna pretend that you dragging your wing on the ground gave you the AOA you needed to kill him there, nicely played!
its like the batmobile using a hook to make a tight turn in the first batman movie from the 80s
Excellent use of Lithobraking.
Quite funny, there's a technique called "gutter run" in car racing, which improves cornering. Guess that dragging the wing into the ground is the aviation equivalent to that.
This is incredible. I expected another pointless F-22 fight where the other guy doesn't stand a chance; instead the SU-35 somehow out-performed the SU-57.
That's because they did a dog fight. It was basically played in a way to give the SU-35 a chance by eliminating the major advantage the F-22 would have BVR. I understand why they did it though, it's no fun to see the other jet just get shot out of the sky without ever seeing who shot them.
A stealthy design generally doesn't play well with aerodynamics, even for something as rounded and organic-looking as the B2. I wouldn't be surprised if the Su 57 performs worse in BFM than the Su 37 purely due to its necessarily inferior aerodynamics. In most other respects the 2 planes are quite similar, and the 37 might also have the advantage in TWR, given all the avionics the 57 packs that it doesn't.
@@dsdy1205 Su 37 is a tech demonstrator, and only one was built. This is Su-35S.
Su35 is super agile so this does not surprise me.
True.
That was definately one of the craziest things I've ever seen on DCS. I would love to see more of Iranian Su-35!
That Su 35 is surely something special if flown correctly. What a Dogfight! Excellent job to both of you 👍
One thing to note, Longshot always put himself in the sun in the merge. It's a good tactic to make sure the 9x doesn't hit you even if you didn't jam the WEZ. Smart thinking by LS.
I love watching the two of you go head to head against each other. And seeing the F-22 struggle in a BFM fight just shows how much pilot skill factors into the win or loss of an engagement.
Nah, pilot skill.matters a lot less on real combat as the most efficient radars and most efficient missiles are what will dictate if the target at 100+ kilometers away will be hit or not and while there are maneuvers that help to hide the aircraft from the enemy those are common training in the entire world and nothing special for a specific ace pilot.
In truth, natural resistance to passing out on high G turns may be way more important than the pilot skill per se when fleeing from a missile.
Been digging the 1-V-Multiple bandit challenges lately! Would love to see 1 raptor against many multiple bandit situations to see how superior it can be. 1 F22 vs 2 F35s, 1 F22 vs 4 Eurofighters, 1 F22 vs 6 SU30s, etc. Call it Raptor week, we'd dig it!
YES
I second this!
YES!
This is a very good idea.
Culminating in a recreation of the scenario in the last episode of History Channel's Dogfights. 4 Raptors vs 2 dozen or so fighter jets primarily consisting of Su-30MKIs and Rafales. Maybe have an F-15 for the missile truck role to make up for the B1-R like in that episode.
That “killed in action” scene was way too legendary
I need more growling sidewinder in my life. Never knew I’d be addicting to simulation videos
It's always weird to me when I scroll down to the comments and pass the subscriber count.
This channel sets a high production standard for itself, and that standard is met with every upload, so it's strange to see someone like GS with ~390k subs putting out videos with the quality and consistency of a channel with something more like 5M subscribers.
Still, it's exciting to think about the potential for growth that this channel has, I hope it only expands from here so GS can introduce more people to DCS and give them content to enjoy.
That’s a really nice comment thank you man, really appreciate the support.
The sub count depends on the audience. The audience for something like dogfights in DCS isn't that high, so 390k is an achievement. Consider a low effort prank-react-epic-meme channel that appeals to the lowest common denominator and it's instant youtube success basically. Doesn't matter.
@@GrowlingSidewinder Of course dude, as long as you keep putting this kind of entertaining content out you’ll always have an audience
It has to do with the way the recommendation algorithm works, many people watching aren't subscribers. Hell, I myself noticed recently that I'm not subscribed to GS, even when I watch his content regularly. I was convinced that I was. Btw. Fixed 😁
1:31 my GOD that was a beautifully smooth kill
Depends on if they can actually maintain/support the aircraft and even keep their pilots up to speed. That said, I know they’re 3-4gen and “easier” to maintain, but they still have flying F-14’s 40 yrs after they lost support. Saudi Typhoons and Eagles will definitely need to be on their toes.
@@DefinitelyNotEmma that’s a great point, oddly I didn’t think about the IAF. SU-30’s and 35’s would be a major problem for them even with F35’s in the inventory.
Given how they keep tomcats flying after 50 years i wouldnt doubt their maintenance skill, pilot skill is a bit more in the air, but its a scary plane and i bet they arent too lousy with them eighter. Better get that NGAD up and running.
@@slacker7918 yeah but Israel has a shit ton of anti air systems, so even if they have a better figher they cant really ever get it into israel. it would deter aggression though, any F35 trying to strike iran would have a lot tougher time. Maybe its a good thing given how they play god in the region and bombs whatever they please. You know i dont like iran, but i dont think they would ever use a nuke or plan on really attacking israel, they are just pissed about airstrikes and occasional assassinations.
Man the mechanics are gonna hate you for that 4th match. Between the inspections and pulling clumps of grass out of the engines my god!
Men , we need to see a part 2 of this, but this time, you in the flunker.
He seemed to have that flat spin perfected when above GS in low speed maneuvering. That was his go-to and what the Russians brag about IIRC. GS let him in that same position the first three fights. When tangling up like that, I wonder if attempting to keep altitude equivalent or above the SU would work better? I wonder if the SU flat spins without dropping the nose just as well? I'm going to have to go spend a few grand on a new computer and stick/controls just to find out lol.
Seems like doing that would be spacially disorienting.
The last fight showed what would've happened had GS not pushed his nose down on the first 2 fights
That was a much more even fight than I was expecting.
too even
It was great, I never expected the F-22 to lose. Americans are getting really salty.
@@XimCines
Lol what are you talking about?
The F-22 didn't loose. The final result was a draw: 3-3.
And for a jet where its own pilot doesn't have an HMD or HMS, the Raptor actually did pretty well.
Besides, you gotta admit GS's flying was a bit sloppy in this video.
@@turnnburn6892 yeah like he wasn’t taking it that serious.

Ooh boy, GS flying against Longshot, this is gonna be a banger
F22 getting ass whooped in the first minute of engagement is the most satisfying thing to wake up to in the morning.
A video I’d really like to see is WW2 USAAF vs US Navy dogfighting comparing the different planes. Like a Mustang or Thunderbolt vs a Hellcat or Corsair. Or even using the British Spitfire vs the Mustang. So essentially planes that fought on the same side against each other, however I don’t if that’s possible in the simulators that you use. I don’t think I’ve seen you fly the old navy fighters.
Sometimes when you read the title you just know how the fight's gonna go
Oddly enough, most of the time it's because the F-22 is involved lol, but it's nice to see a more even fight this time.
Watch the bideo lmao
Man this aged like milk
That was a great matchup, great flying by Longshot
It's a real pleasure to watch your videos bro and wait for more of course. Thanks, it's great dog-fighting videos.😊
Thank you I appreciate you coming to watch
Your videos are awesome, it's so good to see that one person make videos about Iranian jets
Thanks mate
I think a better way of knowing which would win is to swap planes mid-way through these fights so you can at least minimize how much pilot skill is playing into the end result of these dogfights. Still great to watch though!
PERO cada uno tiene más experiencia en ese avión en específico, los llevan a su límite, si cambiaran entonces no darían todo del avión
@@antonyvalverde437 This is true, but I believe Growling Sidewinder has good experience in most if not all of the fighter aircraft in DCS, so he is still giving as much as he knows of that specific aircraft.
@@343jonny Exactly, he will give everything he knows about the aircraft, but he will not necessarily know everything about the aircraft.
Ngl, being a raptor fanboy, i got terrified that GS was down 2-0 until the third round, then I got a huge sigh of relief
This video is a dogfight, while a dogfight is the Su-35’s advantage. The F-22 claps the Su-35 in BVR anyway.
@@OUSSAMA10815 Designed to take those down? The Su-35 is basically an upgraded Su-27, the F-35 is much newer and the Su-35 is only comparable to the F-15E or F-16V Block 70/72. The Su-35’s radar may detect the F-35, but to detect the F-22 is much more difficult, it’s like searching for an ant in a city. It’s even much more difficult because the Raptor would detect the Su-35 first and due to its LPI (Low Probability of Intercept) radar, the Su-35’s RWR will not realize the F-22 has already fired on it.
@@OUSSAMA10815 Good luck with that. Us Americans don't know very much about aviation.
@@luongduc9119 In general, only the appearance is common between the Su-27 and Su-35, and then only partially, otherwise they are completely different aircraft
@@luongduc9119 The problem is DRFM jammers....they cant beat f22 radar....but they might be able to beat the aim120 seeker head with DRFM jammers
I really love when this two fight each other, you can feel the tense
That first kill is brutal.
Without extensive pilot training from experienced pilots even the Su-57 wouldn't do that much.
>even the Su-57
What did he mean by this?
Russia would definitely include current gen training simulators for the model of plane provided, and supply man hours to training as part of whatever deal included these things.
@@blackomegax Except Russia doesn't even give their own pilots much simulator training. No simulators or lack of experience to program them??
@@axelkoch9173
>green texting on UA-cam
What did he mean by this?
An Su-57 can never come close to the classified capability of an F-22.
That first hit by the su-35 was the sickest move I’ve seen. Please show multiple angles of all downs. Great battle
9:59 Damn, that Iranian Flanker is so beautiful
The first fight! Hands down my favourite dogfight Yet! Awesome content!!
You are both great pilots and I love to watch you two fly with or against each other. Great fights!
After surviving that Fox two and that wing ploughing the ground, I'd buy a Powerball ticket if I were you GS...
I suspect it's flying through a narrow canyon, (as in TG Maverick), that has the best chance to "confuse their radar". The irregularities in the canyon walls moving toward the fighter at high speed, (all motion is relative), would be picked up by the doppler radar.
That Super Flanker looks gorgeous in that skin! Amazing video!!
Love your videos man, keep it up
GS demonstrated the F22 is a true multi-role fighter: even agricultural work can be done with it....
This is one of your best videos, it was everything that makes aerial combat so loveable. It's always great to see last gen aircraft still being competitive.
I wouldn't lose any sleep about Iran's probable acquisition of the SU-35. The U.S. has already constructed and is in the testing phase of a 6th generation "Next Generation Air Dominance" fighter that is scheduled to replace the F-22 sometime in the 2030's. It will be very stealthy, have variable cycle engines (for high supersonic "supercruise" capability), and able to fly manned and unmanned missions.
@@DefinitelyNotEmma Israel has F-35 that will sweep the floor with the SU-35 on BVR and turkey and SA have a lot of F-16 and F-15E respectively so they can defend perfectly from it. also iraq and the gulf states have NATO AA everywhere. it only works as major invasion deterrence to non US forces.
Really amazing the intricacies of aerial combat
The SU-35 is always a dangerous opponent. I would love to see what the modernized F-14B can do against it.
Not much to be honest
@@rajaydon1893 Yup, this.
the Tomcat's ebst chance is to sling Phoenixes from range- but those hypersonic missiles somewhat match phoenixes, so it'd be a quickdraw duel at Extreme range
Up close- cat can turn ...but lol, flankers...and the AOA post stall...lol...and the off boresight...and the better thrust weight.....did i mention the nose pointing AOA post stall capability and the AOA limiter switch they can disable? lol
Seems like the F-22's vectored thrust would have been beneficial here.
Pretty sure the SU-35 has 3D vectored thrust, compared to the Raptor’s 2D.
@@drksideofthewal I believe that is the SU-37. The 35 has the canards and the cobra button. And I've seen his other vids with the vectored thrust F-22 and I'm positive that it would have given him better nose authority and would probably put him into launch parameters for the AIM-9X
Do some Indian sukhoi 30 mki vs American F-15
Great fight! Both of you are amazing pilots. That was super fun to watch.
The implications of Iranian SU-35's are massive.
What implications?
@@CraigTheBrute-yf7no A modern airforce for a nation we've been trying to choke off from airplane replacement parts in an effort to weaken their airforce.
Day 5 of asking for more F-35 content.
Love the videos growling!
now you should do that UAE Night time defense with F-16 video again from the other day with the F22 this time to show how an F-22 defense scramble would play out
F-14s are among the newer aircraft in their fleet when you consider that Iran also still flies F-4s and F-5s!
Iran getting Su-35 means more videos like "F-35I vs Su-35". But, actually, we need to remember, that Iran has a domestic production of thermal imaging hardware, so they might end up with their own IRST installed.
If pilot training is equal then an F-22 will be in deep trouble if it gets in a within-visual-range turn-and-burn dogfight with an Su-35.
F-22s major issue is no off bore missile capabilities
Have you guys thought of both of you filming the same fight so we could watch both of your guys perspective? Not sure if it can be done or not but just an idea. Either way it was an awesome fight, two great DCS pilots going at it is always awesome to watch.
Seems the 22's only real true weakness is it's lack of weapons it can carry into battle.
As a former intel analyst I just think you're see Iran get more bold as they are able to challenge the majority of U.S./Nato aircraft. If they do get what they are asking for (and i see no reason why Russia won't give it to them) they will make a point to challenge the F-15, F-18's that they normally meet. I believe the U.S. will counter by just having F-35 monitor all patrols by non stealth aircraft and engage if needed.
O'boy,, never thought that the F-22 will be forced to drag its wing on the ground. Props to both of you. god bless you both.
I kept thinking while watching these that GS plays very defensive. F-22 wasn't doing F-22 things, and when he remembered his gun, he got kills.
That first kill was pretty insane! I mean, it looked like there was no real damage to the Raptor. Sure, maybe some bits fell off it, but there were no fires, no leaks... It looked like it might have been largely intact, save for the dead pilot.
Top Class as usual GS
How about a BVR fight between an F-22 and a Su-35?? And if you run out of missiles just go to the merge. Im sure the F-22 will win most if not all of the BVR fights but it will still be interesting to see.
Thank you GS!!
Love your videos. Keep the good job.
Not having a JHMCS in the raptor really is a disadvantage when you have similar performance characteristics. It’s that small thing that shows yes the raptor can dogfight but it’s not the priority people think it was, and because of how close the pilot sits to the canopy it’s not likely to happen
Another great video GS 👍
Love your content and commentary 😊
When I saw longshot was flying the flanker I knew this will be challenging for GS
man, taking one to the face is just scary. Round 3 fight, it looked like had he just stayed in a little bit longer before punching out he may have had a shot on you. I see alot of dogfights where the enemy flare up in flames and the shooter let their guard down. this is a nice round of fights!
Hey GS, an idea for a new combat format: instead of doing bandit unknown, do a loadout unknown. You and the bandit each have a total of 4 fox3s and 6 fox2s for 5 rounds. Neither of you knows, what the other guy brings to battle. Should be a lot of fun.
Most excellent aerial duels 👍
That was an *amazing move* from longShot on his first kill! 😳🤯😲
amazing dogfights tnx!!!!
That beginning was priceless to me, simply because I imagined an actual American Pilot getting cocky in his Raptor only to get a fox-2 in his face. It is not every day that an "F-22 vs" matchup starts with the Raptor getting owned like that. Come to think of it, this whole video made my day. A Flanker Fanboy like myself, seeing an Su-35 shoot down a Raptor is a glorious sight to behold!
SIMPLY AMAZING!!!!!!!! GROWLING SIDEWINDER AND LONGSHOT......THE BEST OF THE BEST!!!!!!!!😃
The second fox 2 made me jump a little bit. Was not expecting him to get that off.
Round 4 was incredible, do many close calls and it came down to guns
Just at the right time. My bedtime video for all days.

Round 3 was definitely some Toy story action "We're not flying, We're falling with style".
Love the SU-35 desert camo skin👌
Longshot is getting better!
Round 1 : "Flanker E with the corkscrew! Missie off! Straight to the FACE! OMG! Raptor has been obliterated!" - English accented announcer.
That was exciting to watch!
Really shows you what insane pilot skill can do that guy in the su35 is crazy
Iran would benefit from the SU-35 and change the geopolitical landscape with its neighbors, but it would still not pose a significant threat to the U.S. in the sky. Most air battles nowadays are BVR, where stealth gives a huge advantage, not to mention the most considerable advantage the U.S. has. The highly trained pilots who train vs. near-peer adversaries all the time.
The only dogfights of the modern era will be between stealth fighters.
I wouldn't focus on how they'd stack up against the USA as much as how they'd stack up against Israel.
Did you know the su 35 has the best air-to-air kill ratio. Su 35 shot down many ukrainian jets
Iranian Su-35 makes any potential air strikes against Iran tougher. For example, possible IAF strike against their nuclear capability, assuming IAF uses F-35I Adir ... IAF can probably still pull it off, given surprise and stealth. Against Iran's other neighbors, the Su-35 puts them back into competition against the growing F-15C/SA & other 4th gen fleets in the Gulf ... Saudis, Qatari ... The real de-stabilizing move is for Iran to acquire stealth aircraft, Su-57 or Su-75 from Russia, which would improve their offensive potential, depending on the relative quality of Russian stealth performance.
I think it could stack up in a defensive scenario, where the SU35 could avoid BVR by hiding in Iran's mountainous terrain. Assuming they can train their pilots well.
1:31 That first fight was hella intense, nice!
I prefer these one on one "matches" between well matched opponents on your channel. It's nice to remove the context of these imperial wars, and just enjoy the spectacle of an honourable fight between two incredible flying machines :O
2 of my all time favorite planes!
"always one circle to jam the WEZ."
This plays into the Flanker's strengths since it has very high instantaneous turn rate and very good radius fighting ability.
