On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

@@PFCAhammed Didn't believe this so I had to go look it up. The B-17's wingspan is about double the Flanker's, but they're almost exactly the same length, height and the Flanker is actually about 2T heavier both empty and gross. That's 50% higher empty weight than an F-15 and easily double the F-16. Definitely didn't realise how quite how huge the Flanker is

From 15:20 on that was the craziest dogfight maneuvering I've ever seen, on both sides!
You know that's a scary feeling when you're fighting a Flanker and the thought of "where did he go?" goes through your mind. 🤣
I'd love to see this fight again with fox-2s. Just to see how much of an edge that gives the Flanker.

That fourth fight was fantastic! I really enjoyed the SEAD videos you made a month or so ago. I’m not sure what SEAD weapons the F-35 currently has but it would interesting to see the effect of VLO aircraft against the more modern IADS like S-400 and long range early warning radar. Also, I think a naval mission would be awesome, as in a carrier air wing battle with some anti shipping action. Would love to see you back in the Super Hornet for that one.
Such a majestic first kill, the soft music, the slow lineup onto the flanker then boom, mortal Kombat noises. Lol, great stuff man.
The small size of the Viper gives it the edge in a dogfight.
Given how low he was in the final round, I had a feeling a maneuver kill was coming and sure enough it arrived.
Another day requesting F-14 Vs. Eurofighter Typhoon BVR fight. Meteor Vs. Phoenix.
Viper's small size was something Boyd really had to fight hard for. The USAF was in love with BIG, and Boyd knew that was going to be a problem for a dog-fighter.
Sometimes I forget how absolutely massive that flanker is. The f-15 isn’t small for that matter either lol

Was the flanker using tvc? its supposed to be able to move a lot like the felon and the raptor in theory with tvc that forces it to move in the direction the nozzles face opposite of
They’re not as precise as the felon, more of a missile carrier really. Felon has less missiles so probably need more guns on ability, imho
Not useful in a guns only fight where energy management is the key. You don’t want to use these super manoeuvrable “features” in a guns only fight that will leave you slow and an easy kill in a guns only fight.
You got replies that are correct but missing context that makes them not ridiculous. TVC can win 1-circle slow/close gunfights in seconds, and it can win missile fights in seconds. It's no good in a guns-only 2-circle fast/far fight. Pointing the nose does nothing but bleed your energy if the bandit's a mile away at the time.

that last round didn't end in a crash, it looked more like the flanker was trying the fusion dance with the earth and they just messed it up.
GS, I have an idea for a new video series for you, it's a double point of view were you first show your perspective of the dog fight and then you show (as in this case Longshot) the opponents perspective of the dog fight where your viewers can see and hear there comintary and observations of the dog fight

I would think the F-15C would be closer to an SU-27/33/35, and the Mig-29 would be closer to an F-16/F/A-18? But I'm sure you've already had those combos.

The F16 deserves the attention that the F15 has received. They need to update that plane big. I would like to see them experiment with a vectoring nozzle on it.

It would be an interesting test for how accurate DCS is. During Red Flag the F-35 dominated the F-22 in bvr (according to public statements so who knows if that is true)

That was smart going low altitude as f16 is primo at dogfighting at low altitude certainly against a big moving target like the flankers!
Gotta admit, that rolling scissors down on the deck followed by a Maneuvering Kill got me on edge.

Does anyone know what are the main differences/upgrades between the Su-27, Su-30, Su-33 and Su-35?
30 and 35 are all up to date variants of the Su-27/33 and I think the 30 have TVC and the 35 can carry hypersonic missiles.
Su-30, Su-33, Su-35 are all ,,modern" variants of Su-27. Su-27 is a one-seater air superiority,Su 30 is a two seater multirole, Su-33 is a one-seater carrier based, Su-35 is a TVC one-seater multirole fighter with the lowest RCS of this four and the most modern one
Depending on variants, the Su-27 and Su-33 could have two-seater cockpits and variants of Su-30 have acces to TVC
Su-33 and variants of Su-30 have canards
Please make A gunfight video for Su-30 MKI vs F-16. I think that is something you have not done so far. It would be interesting to see, as these two aircrafts have been fielded by opposing nations (India and Pakistan) and are highly like to fight each other in event of an aerial conflict.

I saw a trick once where a pilot in WW2 in order to keep from overshooting a slower aircraft put his landing gear down to create drag and slow the plane down....

Would love to see some rounds of dogfights where both planes have one or two fox 2s in total that can be used in any of the 5 rounds. With that you‘ll try to do the gun fight but have to be careful as you could get shot down by the Fox 2 as well

Interesting comment on the change in design focus between the 1970s and 1990s, going from a pure gun-fighter to a dominant Fox-2 fighter. Boyd was incensed that the USAF had pinned all their performance on missiles with the F4. The USAF brass briefed the Fighter Mafia that the missile would do the turning, not the fighter, thank you very much. Boyd told them where to shove it, citing the F4 in Vietnam.
As time rolled by though, missiles finally achieved the performance the F4 had assumed, and the Viper would have been in trouble as a platform, except the same speed, acceleration and miserly energy bleed when turning at high Gs also made the Viper an astoundingly good Fox-3 platform.
Fast forwarding even further to today, with the AIM-9X or Python and helmet mounted cueing, the Flanker still has the advantage in Fox-2, but not by much. If they want to erase it entirely all they have to do is put a couple of 2mi range Fox-2s on the Viper's strakes and point them backwards, queing with the HUD while looking backwards, although most Fox-2s today can easily get tone head-on from frontal skin friction heat.
