Imagine the terror on the AWACS pilot's face when 7 friendly aircraft blink out of the radar and there is one radar signature closing in, ignoring all the air defences on the ground.
Aircraft radar can only get so good depending on how large it can be. There's likely no way to improve the Typhoon's radar much beyond what it has already. There's a reason AWACS are huge aircraft with huge radomes and why Aegis equipped ship has several 12 foot octagon arrays.

The missions! Don’t get me wrong I very much appreciate the dog fights and the education you bring to your videos. But, when you give yourself a mission, especially a difficult one, it’s always an awesome video and I have to watch the whole way through. Another awesome job, keep ‘em coming.
Seems like i read somewhere that in flight testing against friendlies-as-aggressors, the F22 would regularly take down groups of 7-15 aircraft. Stealth just leaves everyone unaware. Element of surprise is just an overwhelming advantage.
To me the proof that the F22 stealth is a real thing was Israel purchasing them for their primary air dominance fighter. The Israeli military do not mess around.

I can’t imagine the situation of wingmen on both sides getting slammed by missiles and you’re just praying you get a radar contact because you’re clueless to where you’re being engaged from. The sheer panic that would immediately ensue.

As an fan of the F-22, these type of videos are a lot of fun. It really highlights the competitive race for better radars and stealth. It’s going to be even more important as DEI weapons become more common.
@@quinndenver4075 May be closer than you think. In Chuck Yeagers autobiography.. page 120 he commented after test flying a captured me-262 that performance was identical to the P-80 Shooting star. So while the P-80 isn't a Meteor.. I suspect all three were very similar. Think Mig 15/F-86.

From the conclusion of this mission, would it be correct to infer that the F-22 will be good in incursions over hostile territory? But in the case it has to intercept, it will have to give away its position by turning on radar? Would that allow hostile missiles to lock onto it from range?
Ground radar can see the F-22 but there's a difference between being able to see something and getting a lock for a firing solution. The ground-based radars couldn't get a lock and so couldn't fire
i think one of the big things that the 22 has over the felon is the engines, the felons engines are just metal tubes, no stealth to them whereas the f22 engines are sorta hidden and have the stealthy flappy things
What real world defense is there against an F-22? It just kinda seems like it can fly into any area it wants and have it's way with anything it desires.
Question: are the Eurofighter's using radar to look for the F-22 or are they using Infra-Red, Search & Track? I'm assuming in this simulation they are using Radar... I think they'd be better off using IRST which is a passive sensor rather than an active one. This plays in the Eurofighter's favour as the F-22 doesn't have IRST.
so basically theres a rogue f22 piloted by Growling Sidewinder who is invading europe who is doing a joint exercise with Australia who lent them their best awacs to use as bait for the rogue f22 and they all got mopped by the f22

@@drksideofthewal F-35 stealth is nowhere near the F-22, but the F-35 does have more sensors than the F-22; however the F-22 has more antennas and radars than the F-35. Not to mention better stealth and kinematics than the F-35.
Honestly, probably even more dominating, since the F-35 is even stealthier than the F-22, and with two of them, they could theoretically take out those targets quicker.

The Aim-120 wont give any warnings until they activate their seeker close to the target. In the mean time, they are guided by the F-22 radar and because the Eurofighter cant see it, they dont know how far the F-22 and their missiles is.

I wonder if higher tech enemies with datalink splitting up like that at the beginning of the video could be a tactic now or in the future to create a kind of makeshift multipoint phased array radar to attempt to get a higher resolution picture of where a stealth plane might be, perhaps enough for a firing solution. I don't know if the link speed and computing power of current fighters could touch on that, but I'm sure it's an idea that's been tested

I’m not sure how accurate these simulations are but if a single 5th generation fighter can down 7 advanced 4th generation fighter planes than that would explain the rush to manufacture and buy them ( although sadly not the F-22). I would be interested to see how the F-35 would do in a similar confrontation if that hasn’t already been covered.
If this turned into another Top Gun movie, it'd be the most artsy one that only the cinema artists may appreciate - there's really no drama or struggles. I guess that's the usual modern dog fights with modern jets - the missiles are fired from beyond visible range and after firing, the missiles do what they're supposed to.
Yea, I have a problem when theyre not shooting back or offering counter-measures. Stealth or not, once someone shoots at you you NOTICE where the fire is coming from. The has to be a sim otherwise even game AI would be trying to shoot back.
Because it didnt know it was comming. The Eurofighters will be warned once the Aim-120 activate the seeker heads but they only do that close to the target. Its guided by the F-22 radar in the mean time

The Felon getting locked on to was probably because the Felon IRL actually isn't that stealthy. It barely uses any radar absorbent materials.
That and it's engines aren't stealthy at all.

I wouldn't be suprised if tactics of that sort have been developed for use with the F-35's new sensor suites and datalink systems

I’m not sure how accurate these simulations are but if a single 5th generation fighter can down 7 advanced 4th generation fighter planes than that would explain the rush to manufacture and buy them ( although sadly not the F-22).
I would be interested to see how the F-35 would do in a similar confrontation if that hasn’t already been covered.

I guess that's the usual modern dog fights with modern jets - the missiles are fired from beyond visible range and after firing, the missiles do what they're supposed to.
Yea, I have a problem when theyre not shooting back or offering counter-measures. Stealth or not, once someone shoots at you you NOTICE where the fire is coming from. The has to be a sim otherwise even game AI would be trying to shoot back.
Why the eurofighter did not try to defend the incoming aamrams?
Because it didnt know it was comming. The Eurofighters will be warned once the Aim-120 activate the seeker heads but they only do that close to the target. Its guided by the F-22 radar in the mean time
