Late to the party, but I have to talk a little bit about my experience with this tablet. I have always wanted a cintiq, but the prices were always a little daunting. The purchase price for this one is honestly worth it. This is probably the best tablet I've ever had so far, and I love it to bits. I'm so, so glad I got this as my first pen-on-screen tablet. I've always wanted a wacom product, and this is by far the best decision I made, by getting one of these. I was honestly pretty worried that I wouldn't like it, but I took the time and effort to reasearch it, and after seeing videos like this, I decided this is the one I should get. It's a wonderful product, although I do wish it were bigger, the size isn't bad at all. You have plenty of space to draw with, and the pressure is really amazing. There is almost no paralax, which I heard was a problem on some other cheaper tablets. I hope it lasts a long time.
That's good to hear Because I just ordered this for myself on Monday (after months of saving up) and this is my first first drawing tablet (i do more traditional art and digital art on my phone) and I'm hoping it is worth the money 😃 (for my first time experience)
bigger screen, bigger hand movement, I draw on 24 and 27 inch screens not the Cintiq with intuos pro M. its harder to draw on 27 inch if your art style is of about generous strokes. so 16 inch is a great estate to draw on otherwise.
if you don't mind me asking- I've been wanting a drawing tablet for a long time and was originally gonna get a ipad pro 1 gen 12.9, but i can't find any for sale. So now my attention have turned to Wcaom Cintiq. and since you have one, perhaps you would be so nice to answer some questions i have. First of all can you record the drawing you're making and is it good for detailed art? what drawing programs can it use, and can it also be used for animating?
@@beate9377 if you running on Mac, it's fine. just use quick time player. if you on window, get open canvas. I tried the trial version, you can record the drawing, it only play in the OC software.
One of the things I enjoyed most about this review funnily enough is how you handled the equipment with care, too many reviewers these days seem to lay things down on their screen, pick them up with fingers all over the display, just a lack of attention and I find that frustrating. Thanks so much for taking the time to review this tablet :)
so many complain that this new wacom cintiq "not cheap enough" and compare it to iPad and Apple pencil. what they don't understand is many people don't want iPad, they already have working PC, they only need graphic tablet monitor. And the best quality graphic tablet monitor so far still from Wacom.
ya, with the tablet and pc set up you can get a lot more work done. hell for animation, I could not do anything productive on an ipad. because when i get going, i can easily get 13-17gb of ram used, with my gpu and cpu both running decently as well. But granted i just wouldn't buy an Ipad no matter what, simple because apple and has after time shit on consumers with their designs.
Yeah. I got the Cintiq Pro 13 instead of an Ipad because I don't want to be limited to the apple store for my programs and I'm also interested in learning 3D artwork. Plus, Ipads apparently slow down like crazy after a few years of use.
I have an iPad Pro. its nice to draw on it, but it is not comfortable to draw on for long hours. so im planning to sell it since I only use it for reading which is underutilizing the iPad Pro capability. no complain about iPad Pro, it boils down to what are you drawing with it.....I like to draw anime style I found Wacom does a better job than the iPad Pro.
In america, we call that the church style or dress style. meaning you always look like you ready for a church service. i like to think its the casual outcome of the zoot suit era.
I'm so happy that Wacom made this budget pen display, its half the price of their other ones and still mantains the high quality. I'll definitely buy this as soon as I'm able to!
In Australia its even more a dramatic difference in price, it can only be pre-ordered currently but it costs $900 AUD compared to the 16inch Pro that costs $2,200 AUD. It finally makes it affordable for most of us who just like to draw for a hobby and always craved a cintiq but could never afford or justify the HUGE cost of the cintiq's of previous generations.
Just ordered this one cause I was looking for a Huion in the 600€ price range but I'd much rather have bought a wacom. Then they release this one that looks so good price/quality wise :D
@@JuliaFliess I bought the 22 inch one and I am still watching these kind of videos sice it's so hard for me to bealive I've got one of these on my desk lol
"If you're a young professional, a student, a major hobbyist..." when I, a veteran from industry, cry because I'm buying me a Cintiq only now XD Well, maybe because comic book artists don't make a sh*tload of money or perhaps a Wacom is priced X3 more in some countries haha. Great review! Loved it!
Very helpful, thanks! Especially for this old guy who is a bit hesitant to make the jump from paper/pen to digital. You make it seem like it won't be too much of an adjustment- especially your comments about the feel of the pen on the screen NOT feeling like slippery glass. Great video; much appreciated!
I've been using my Wacom Bamboo since middle school and I'm graduating college next year, finally got a Cintiq. I didn't realize until this video that the black sleeve was for holding pens. I had my old tablet 8 years, it had the same sleeve, and I never once thought to put the pen in there. I thought it was just a weird tag. I'm losing my mind
I just bought myself this Cintiq as a present for having an intuos for nearly a decade, and I'm so excited to use it! It's such a good price for upgrading from the tablets, and even though it doesn't have features like touch, it's a fantastic device. I haven't noticed much difference. Sometimes the resolution is noticeable when you're up super close to it and zooming it on huge details, but for the price, it's just not even a question. The Cintiq 16 Pro is $AU2300 and this one was $999, so I am super happy. You deserve so many more subs Aaron, I've watched your channel for years and your content is incredible!

Thank you for this video. I don't know why other videos are so vague with their information. You are very thorough which makes me feel comfortable in purchasing this Wacom
I saw this unboxing about 2 years ago. I finally have one, my first pen display tablet. I have a medium intuos I've had for 7 or 8 years and while I loved the results, did not use it as much because it always felt awkward. So, the first thing I was not used to was working between two screens, being able to flip between the tablet and the computer screen so I could start and stop the video on the computer and work on the tablet. I had to dig to figure that out so I could understand how to work best. In order to toggle between the computer and tablet and be able to just use the pen for both, go into Pen Settings, make sure you select the pen tool, and pen tab, click on the upper pen dropdown to select Display Toggle. I had to select Tablet first in the dropdown and then Display Toggle as the option for the upper button and I chose Right Click for the lower button (Mac directions. Don't know what the PC directions are.) The first thing I have drawn is an imitation of the bear that Aaron drew. Fun stuff. I used a chunkier brush to see what would happen. Of course I can see flaws in my own work, but still had good results with the tablet as a tool and don't feel awkward any longer with it. Thanks for the review Aaron!
This review was very practical compared to others, I develop software for a living and i wanted to quickly sketch interface ideas. I have not owned a Cintiq before so i was confused about the software you could use with it. The first couple of minutes viewing your video i said to myself "ok, i get it."
Thanks so much, Aaron, for this video. Very informative & your communication skills are great & easy to understand. I'd already bought this Wacom before i discovered your video & i immediately thought "woah! Aaron Blaise loves this Wacom!" - really cool to know I bought a tablet that you really appreciate!
THANK GAWD they fixed the port and the stand. I have the 13 incher with the port stupidly centered on the right side, constantly in danger of screwing up the connection with the slightest wiggle. The old stand is just total dookie. I know a few artists who just use a desk easel for theirs. In my experience as a full time freelance artist, there just isn't a suitable substitute for Wacom's quality. I have watched plenty of my friends try out alternative displays only to end having wasted their money because the alternatives out there are such poor quality in their hardware as well as software. Thanks for the great unboxing! Something to look forward to whenever I'm ready to upgrade!
at first i was like "what is this grandpa doing, reading specs from the manual like my mom would" then he started drawing the bear and hell he is legit! nice review sir!
It arrived yesterday. My very first drawing tablet with a screen. Loving it! I didn't have the budget for the more expensive wacoms so I was looking at the competition that offered bigger screens with buttons on the side. At first that seemed like a good option, however as I saved up the money the youtubers I watched began to release videos about how the reviews of the competition tend to be overly positive. So happy that I found this Tablet and getting quality as well. I expected to struggle with drawing on a screen but it actually feels way more easy. I ain't a great drawer but it's never to late to learn. Thanks for the impression video, it helped me making up my mind.
@@chocolateegg7996 No scratches so far :) Screen is doing a fine job, but to draw on eas well as a second screen now that i got used to the smaller size compared to my former second screen. Also, for someone like me, it feels very precise. Now i aint not expert, just a very amateurish learning to draw person so for me this feels great.
@@cheetah9472 I had seen too many reviews and knew what to expect really. It's good! Everthing works perfectly and really easy to draw on it. The only thing is that sometimes if you leave it on standby and the return, the first line you draw will be fixed size and pressure, until it reverts back to normal. Apart from that, everything else is great!
@@cheetah9472 Well they're not the best. Everything looks a little lower contrast, but enough for a hobbyist I'd say. If you're a professional then I guess you want a pro version with full colors. To me it's only noticable because I also have my computer screen above and it does look a little more vivid on the actual PC screen. Otherwise it's perfect.
Really good video.Thank you so much for doing this! I’ve had a Cintiq 16 and a Artist 15.6 Pro from XP-Pen. The screen of the Artist 15.6 Pro is smoother than the Cintiq 16 (in the sense that it feels more like glass under the pen). The laminated screen doesn't make a massive difference as the Cintiq 16 has a low enough parallax, but it could be good to have. A simple way to put the difference between Wacom and XP-Pen is mostly just that a Wacom is a more polished product, while a XP-Pen has a better value.
@@rmr5044 Huion makes several display tablets that are more than half the price of Wacom. Most of them should be absolutely fine for hobbyist artists too
My son has autism but paints with acrylic and water-colour. He is creating illustrations and stories with just his mouse tracking pad and I'm researching to help him. this product looks like its the right one. looking forward to learning from you. Tanis & Alec
Was considering getting the XP Pen 15.6 for $350 but then this got announced. It's almost twice the price but the pen does really sell it for me. I'm in no need for the tablet now but maybe by the end of the year I'll consider buying this. And the added bonus is this tablet might get a bit cheaper by then. Thanks for the review.
Hi Aaron Ive been learning a lot from your Creature Art Teacher course. I'd just like to say that as great as Wacom products are , the cable mgmt leaves much to be desired. I had to buy additional adapters for my cintiq16 to sync up with my windows laptop. It was frustrating but I hope they've figured that out with their newer models.
Thanks for giving your thoughts! I've been considering which graphic tablet to get (upgrading from an iPad Pro) and I think your assessment has won me over :)
Huion is changing the game. That's why this Cintiq is actually affordable. Wacom is premium, but they have to be competitive. I would. Huion has a 19.5 inch Kamvas Pro with a battery free pen with tilt recognition and 16 Express keys. Solid construction 8192 levels of pressure. Virtually no parallax on the screen for $600.00. I am happily content with my old Intuos Pro M though. Lol
Beautiful review! I really appreciate this new price level in Wacom products. I'm a big Wacom fan as well, even if a virtual one only because I can't afford the price (and I was lurking at Huion products for this reason) BUT if Wacom offers now some more affordable options (obviously with no 4k/touch options), I will take them in consideration. I'm even eager to accept a smaller size (like 16" instead of 19+ of Huion's product) for an higher price (Huion 19" I think is about 4-600$ I don't remember). Wacom quality is immense. The only cons I can think of is the very high price they have for some basic accessories, like the stands, and the small amount of goodies that came with the products themselves. But at the end it's all a matter of marketing and I understand that.
Oh, come on, they didn't put a stand AGAIN? So greedy. Welp, let's hope that at least this one doesn't have issues with drivers and microcode as previous generation.
Personally I'm glad it's not included. It keeps the price down and I don't need to pay for something I don't intend on using. It has a VESA mount on the back and I'm putting mine on an arm.
Mmh yeah but every Cintiq competitor comes with a stand, nibs AND a smudge guard glove. Wacom thinks it's still 2010, when they were alone in the market and could get away with this bs.
Great unboxing and review Aaron!, been looking at this myself and you've might just have convinced me! A great option for a portable system for work in the field. Are you planning on returning to TAW to teach again soon? Hope to see you again!
I have been using the Wacom Intuos web tablet for 12 years (two tablets purchased one for XP and the other for Mac) How can I transit from drawing with PS screen view to "tablet view"? My tablet has become a bit rocky and if I lean on it, it goes awry. Love this presentation, such a change from young and beautiful to mature and handsome! Haha. I have longed for this tablet for years but somehow missed the boat. Now I feel that I am ready and deserving of such a little beauty. I actually feel hungry just watching this...! Love and thanks Aaron B.
Its important for Mac users to take note whether you need a USB C HDMI 4K HUB Adapter for MacBook Pro. I got my tablet and couldn't connect it, had to order one and wait 2 days! 😭
I would just like to add that many laptops such as the Lenovo Yoga 940 DONT have hdmi ports which means in order to use this Cintiq you need to buy a hdmi to USB or USB C adaptor.
Thank you for sharing your talents and suggestions:) Awesome of you!!!! So how do you feel about it now, and do you have a favorite tablet that is this size or smaller like the 13? I also think for the price here it should include a decent stand!! Cheers from Canada. ! :)

I bought this yesterday and cannot wait until it arrives. Thanks for the very informative video!
Jobake Ekajob how is it
@@cheetah9472 I had seen too many reviews and knew what to expect really. It's good! Everthing works perfectly and really easy to draw on it. The only thing is that sometimes if you leave it on standby and the return, the first line you draw will be fixed size and pressure, until it reverts back to normal. Apart from that, everything else is great!
Jobake Ekajob cool! how about the colors are they good?
@@cheetah9472 Well they're not the best. Everything looks a little lower contrast, but enough for a hobbyist I'd say. If you're a professional then I guess you want a pro version with full colors. To me it's only noticable because I also have my computer screen above and it does look a little more vivid on the actual PC screen. Otherwise it's perfect.
That even sounds like drawing on paper when you work at this tablet :D I think will buy it in future when my drawing skill will be better.
Best review out there, this is who Wacom need to contact for their reviews :D
PegiBruno they have.
Best review of cintiq 16
I'm soo excited! I'm getting this one and a new computer to make my art!
Ahhhhhh me to!
your workstation with the Cintiq 16 is so neat! so space saving. I gonna get it.
I bought an $80 HUION tablet and it has the 8000 levels of pressure sensitivity. Works beautifully.
Does it have a display?
@@rmr5044 umm I think she wanted to say 800 $, It's bigger(about 21 or 22 inches). But It's pens still uses batteries , just like the rest of brands.
@@rmr5044 Huion makes several display tablets that are more than half the price of Wacom. Most of them should be absolutely fine for hobbyist artists too
Its a pen tablet, no display. its the 1060Pro, 10 x 6.25 inches. Its quite fantastic for 80 bucks
Simply. Not. The. Same. Thank you for playing.
Wacom est incontestablement le meilleur choix des tablettes !
I like this video so much 😭♥️ it’s so fun . I will get it , this wonderful Wacom ♥️🥺
Thank you for this indepth level of review. I'm strongly considering buying this Over the new Huion Kamvas 20.
Thanks for this
review Father Aaron.
My son has autism but paints with acrylic and water-colour. He is creating illustrations and stories with just his mouse tracking pad and I'm researching to help him. this product looks like its the right one. looking forward to learning from you. Tanis & Alec
Great video Aaron, I been meaning to change my tablet for some time now, this might just do the trick.
P.s. - I love your work Aaron. Absolutely love it.
Grrreat unboxing, review, and mini drawing demo sir!
I just realized Aaron looks like an older version of Bradley Cooper in American Sniper :o
I'll take it.
@@AaronBlaiseArt fine.
I got this one but wish they still put a few express keys on the side and a touch strip for zoom and brush size.
Wow! thanks you Aaron
Wacom: please be a good review
Him:it's good
Wacom:why didn't he say excellent
Damn, bought a 13 two years ago for more than the price this 16 is going now.
I love it to pieces, but I wish they came out sooner! :D
Thanks for giving your thoughts! I've been considering which graphic tablet to get (upgrading from an iPad Pro) and I think your assessment has won me over :)
Great unboxing. Now to save some money and get one. Love the videos
Thank you Aaron!
OMG YES I HAVE TO HAVE ONE!!
Love the drawing tablet, but I absolutely hate how messy the cords look. I highly recommend buying a cord sleeve if these cords bother you.
Lol
i want this... you are the best Aaron.
Great detailed product review.
Just ordered mine today!!
so relaxing.
I insta clicked on this so fast oml
me too
Why are you not in Disney now? You have a lot of knowledge to share, loveart feelings to others!
But at the end it's all a matter of marketing and I understand that.
if Aaron Blaise recommends it, i'll buy it!
So funny to see Aaron do an unboxing :D
Son uncharacteristic for this channel, but I like it :D
Hi Aaron, you can pair the Wacom express controller when you working with Cintiq 16. maybe , theoretically speaking.
ordering mine tomorrow night!
Love the necklace and the content? What kind of necklace is that? Very intrigued.
Thanks so much for the amazing videos
mine arrives today!!!! :D so exited!!
Oh, come on, they didn't put a stand AGAIN? So greedy.
Welp, let's hope that at least this one doesn't have issues with drivers and microcode as previous generation.
Buying a stand separately would only inflate the price for people who have specific stands, like a monitor arm, in mind.
@@MASJYT funny enough they stopped putting stands in a box only since 2015
in EU store they have Launch deal, youll get the stand for free with this Cintiq if you buy before 31.1.2019
Great review, thank you. How useful would this product be to do photographic processing?
Beautiful video. Do you have a video where you show how you transfer the image to the laptop screen ?
Great unboxing and review Aaron!, been looking at this myself and you've might just have convinced me! A great option for a portable system for work in the field. Are you planning on returning to TAW to teach again soon? Hope to see you again!
Great review by an experienced tablet user! Nice bear!
The glass is actually plastic ;-) Awesome review and demo!
Careful about environments with water, water damage is the reason I'm looking for a new secondary drawing tablet right now
Nice, I need to get one of these.
Its important for Mac users to take note whether you need a USB C HDMI 4K HUB Adapter for MacBook Pro. I got my tablet and couldn't connect it, had to order one and wait 2 days! 😭
Lisa Wilder ahh good to know. I have an older Mac laptop that has an hdmi port and I just plug right in.
I would just like to add that many laptops such as the Lenovo Yoga 940 DONT have hdmi ports which means in order to use this Cintiq you need to buy a hdmi to USB or USB C adaptor.
Omg yes!!!!
That stand looks better than the one that’s compatible with the cintiq pro.
Thank you for sharing your talents and suggestions:) Awesome of you!!!! So how do you feel about it now, and do you have a favorite tablet that is this size or smaller like the 13? I also think for the price here it should include a decent stand!! Cheers from Canada. ! :)
Nice to meet a fellow lefty
I wish I could afford it ;(
get a job and start saving?
@@Solaxe well I am working and saving but other things must come first as priorities, I'm not really rich. But hopefully one day I can afford it:) your message sounds a little bit insensitive tho, but that's ok.
Does the wacom cintiq 16 work to make animation in tvpaint animation?
I'm looking to getting this
