    I was watching this because I own two XP pen tablets (the 13.3 pro and the Star 06 screen-less tablet). I've come to be sorta dissatisfied with my 13.3 pro that I've had for probably 4 years now, the reason I bought the Star06 in the first place was because I didn't like the color inaccuracy or how my screen started to look almost oily? idk how that happened.... So I thought "I'll treat myself to a Wacom...they have better quality right? who cares if they cost more" but in short after this very thorough review I think I'll just stick to XP Pen.... Thank you for saying actual useful information in this video rather then simple praise.

      Crazy right? Yeah to get the better color screen you need to get the 16 Pro. That's 400 bucks more :(

    I was using a Wacom non-display tablet for years then decided recently to upgrade to a display tablet. Not wanting to spend a fortune, I tried the 22" XP Pen. Parallax was insane, I could not get it properly calibrated and the hotkeys would not program correctly. I set it back and ordered a Huion Pro 16. The PC would not recognize the unit as a display. All it would display was a black screen, and yes, it was plugged in correctly and every other monitor I have works fine plugged into the same HDMI port. I spent 2 days trying everything I found on UA-cam and google with no luck so it went back. In both cases (XP Pen and Huion) support is sketchy at best. Now looking at the Cintiq 16. More money than the XP Pen and Huion but it works and has support.

    Very thoughtful review, thank you! I have a bit of a different perspective, though, due to my nearly 2 decades of work flow using a Wacom tablet (not a display tablet).
    Last year I finally upgraded from my ancient Wacom Intuos 3 6x11 tablet to a Wacom One 13 display tablet. I use the word "upgraded" loosely, because it really felt like a downgrade, other than actually drawing on a live screen. There are two issues that I have with the Wacom One: I can't use my go-to pens, the Art Pen, which has barrel rotation in addition to tilt and pressure, or the Airbrush Pen with the paint flow valve wheel. I could only us the one-button pen that came with the tablet, or a 3rd party pen that really had no different capabilities. The other complaint is the restrictive size of the 13 inch drawing area.
    I did some research, including your review, but also technical research on the capabilities of the Cintiq 16. I learned that it does work with previous generation pens! And, I found a gently used Cintiq 16 on Marketplace for less than half the new price. So now, I have the Cintiq 16 with a collection of 4 pens. The original Pro Pen 2 that came with it, a Pro Pen slim, an Art Pen, and an Airbrush Pen, and I'm loving the tablet.
    I'm not sure if many Wacom users realize that one of the nice features of the Wacom software for Cintiqs or the pro-level tablets (not the Wacom One), if the tablet is used in an app like Corel Painter or Rebelle, is that each pen remembers it's last used brush. So when I touch my airbrush to the tablet, Painter will switch to an airbrush. My Pro Pen Slim is set to a #2 pencil; the Pro Pen 2 is set to a fat, round brush, and the Art Pen is set to a thick paint knife. No competitor tablet currently (and may not ever) has this capability, and this is a game changer for me, so I won't even consider a Huion or other Wacom knockoff tablet.

      Compatibility for those special pens is pretty cool for sure! I can see the value of the 16 being a bit better if that's what you're looking for. Great input!

    I would love to see a direct comparison between the XP-Pen Artist Pro 16 (Gen 2) and the Cintiq 16.
    In terms of sensation when drawing, but mainly in terms of quality and durability. I know that the Cintiq 16 is inferior in terms of technical specifications, but I'm still considering buying it because I still don't know how long this XPPen will last, but I know that Wacom is reliable in this regard.

    • @XPISigmaArt
      @XPISigmaArt  10 місяців тому +2

      Cintiq 16 is indeed inferior. But the Cintiq 16 Pro is comparable to the Artist Pro 16 gen 2! Both have minimal parallax, great color accuracy and QHD resolution. But the gen2 has 16k pressure, while the Cintiq 16 Pro had touch. Also the Cintiq Pro is over 1000 usd :( I'd love to be able to test out the Gen 2 personally.

      Yes, I am very impressed with the specifications of the Artist Pro 16 (Gen 2) for the price it is charged. Several artists are recommending it.
      But as it is a new product I am worried about how long it will last. I would like a product that won't cause problems for at least 5 years. I see the Cintiq 16 as an option precisely because of the longevity of Wacom products, and touch for me is not that important.

    I'm currently deciding between the Cintiq Pro 16, Xencelabs 16 and Huion Kamvas 19. All of them at the same price range, but this device just caught my attention...
    Pen displays get crazy expensive the higher the resolution and the more accurate you want the colors to be, but why should I spend more for that? My workflow allows me to ignore the colors and image quality for like 80% of the time which means that I could invest that money for a better monitor and fix colors there. I legit could work on a worn out screen with permanent burn-in and still be cool with it.
    The Wacom alternatives I mentioned sound enticing, but will they last longer than 3-5 years? Questions questions...

    I have an xp pen artist 15 and the materials are cheap not just the look of it but for example, the stylus buttons just stopped working (after 2-4 years), maybe because I use them to switch from brush to eraser, but that's no excuse I have had some tablets from Wacom and I've never seen a stylus die on me. The glue that the screen has in the back to hold the grip rubber started to melt since day one and I've started to see some problems with the cables, like the screen turns off suddenly and sometimes has some glitches. In a nutshell, I think xp pen has a good price, it works perfectly but it may have some longevity problems in comparison to Wacom. I totally understand the price is a problem, so if I can get a second-hand Centiq I would much prefer it because it will last me longer... This is the experience I've had so far... Let me know what you guys think.

I have a Huion kamvas 13 which had excellent reviews everywhere I looked for it and was reasonably inexpensive, so I bought it. It has since had numerous driver issues that caused the device to disconnect and reconnect constantly. I tried everything to fix it, contacted support multiple times, replaced the cable, tried the usb c connection over the weird dongle that it comes with, reinstalled the drivers, used different driver versions, nothing would work. All support told me to do is to reinstall the drivers and they refused to replace the device! All that said, I have a hard time trusting the competition against Wacom because I have no idea if the reviews of these tablets even mention the problems they tend to have with drivers and general malfunctioning. I have just as little trust for XP-Pen as I do Huion because my first tablet that wasn't a display tablet came from xp-pen and it had driver problems as well! So, when I have to carry the tablet around or put it away in some cupboard, since I don't have a desk that's 2 square meters - I have to unbolt the tablet to remove it? I'm sure there could be a better product design which would allow the tablet to be easily removed from the stand but ... not in this case I guess... Apart from that, I'm really happy with the tablet, I know they sacrificed screen quality to reduce the price but it's still decent if you're not using it 8h every day. Also got a huion kamvas 16 inch on the table for £130 but i think the other two are well more appealing and have been the main struggle for me to choose. HELP!

      @XPISigmaArt  Рік тому +2

      The truth is all of those are a great purchase at those prices. I'd automatically say forget the 12 inch, you'll likely need more canvas space in the future. So let's decide between the Kamvas 16 and Cintiq 16. Kamvas 16 is sleeker, thinner. Better for travel if that matters. The Cintiq 16 is still a very good option at that price, but the Kamvas has a laminated screen AND better color accuracy. I feel like you're getting more bang for your buck with the Kamvas 16. But if you go Cintiq 16, you're getting a great price for something I'd only recommend at a huge discount.

      Don't hesitate to choose Wacom because their products last at least a decade. It has much better build quality than huion and xp-pen.
      The most noticeable thing is the pen, the wacom can still be used and the buttons are still clicky after a decade of daily use and dozens of drops.
      Huion has the pen with the worst build quality, within a year I replaced the pen 2x. The button is broken because of the poor quality of the plastic, another problem is that the pen registers non-stop clicking before it finally dies. Their drivers also have problems, for example pressure suddenly doesn't work, random driver crashes, pen is not detected completely. I had to try many versions of drivers to find one that ran smoothly. Huion gave me nightmares and I will never use it again.
      I've used several wacom types from the early 2000's and have never had driver issues once. The pen will break after a decade but the tablet still works fine.

    I am used to doing all my photoshop illustrations on the bigger intuos from 2008 but I'm considering this. I assume it doesn't come with a built in processor and becomes a monitor you draw on, which is what I want. Please let me know if I'm correct. Thank you.

    • @XPISigmaArt
      @XPISigmaArt  Місяць тому

      Correct, this is just a monitor/pen, you'll need to connect it to a PC! But for better color accuracy, I'd honestly advice against this device. Check out my comparison of the XP Pen Pro 16 and Cintiq 16, lots of good data to chew on!

      For sure! If you don't have a primary monitor (that is also color accurate) and only use the drawing surface, the Cintiq is sup optimal for that. To be honest though, I never encountered big issues when moving my work over for final color edits, but it's still something I had to mention!

I have reached out to Wacom and Corel with no help. I am about to throw the thing across the room. I am so frustrated. I am also signed up for classes nd I am 3 weeks behind. Did you install Wacom Center for the necessary drivers? Since it's a Stream, I know that runs Windows S mode, so you'll have to go into settings to disable S mode first before you can install it.

    If you're using an app like Photoshop, or indeed any drawing software, aren't the icons and tools really small on a screen this size? I'm looking to use Adobe Animate but on a screen this size I don't know if I'd be able to see all the tiny menus well enough.
