Age of Empires IV: The Abbasid Dynasty
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 жов 2021
- The Abbasid Dynasty is an adaptive civilization with the ability to upgrade through research instead of villager construction allowing you to expand your empire quickly. With this advantage, you can continue gathering resources, construct buildings, or perform other tasks allowing uninterrupted growth. Keep an eye out for Camel Archers and Camel Riders, which serve as unique anti-cavalry cavalry units.

Having this civ not being able to hunt boar is amazing attention to detail that I didn't expect from this game
Yes, I like that. In AOE3 there were already some restrictions in Asian Dynasties civs, such as Japanese and Indians. Good thing they paid attention to that in AOE4 as well.
I'll be pretty disappointed if they don't do these. It's just a genetic thing, not some crazy details.
@@Jagaimo_chan Keep in mind that I'm coming from AOE2 and AOM and I didn't really see anything resembling this with the Saracens
I now see why they are unwilling to diversify hunts based on map/climate. This logic wouldn't work if boar were replaced by elephants in a map.
@@KHariram Which is unfortunate, as increased animal variety is one of the best things DE added to AoE2
boar is Haram !!! good game devloper

Absolutely Haram

The Abbasids were definatly my favorite during the stress test. Super fun, I loved the house of wisdom, made the faction feel very versitile.
yea all the top player's use it because its opverpowered
so is the game worth pre-ordering?
@@Archimage24 no game is worth pre-ordering
Do they have cannon or hand cannon?
@@Archimage24 What the other guy said. Never pre-order. Any game. Ever.
Amazing features. Thank you Relic Entertainment for making it actually unique and kind of realistic.
But it would be more accurate to call it *The Abbasid Caliphate* instead of Dynasty. If you change it, that would be more epic from you.
@Lycanthrope You are right.
It is not a big deal anyways. I think they represented the Abbasid Caliphate beautifully and as practical as possible for a fair game. The units, the House of Wisdom, and dietary changes, the architecture, the units' voices...etc.
Unlike how Ensemble Studios did in AOE2, where they unjustly and criminally called the Arabic and early Islamic civilizations "Saracens". They messed up the history in that game so badly and so disrespectfully. While here now, it is much more accurate.
@@beedykh2235 They did the same to Italians, Slavs, Indians, Franks, Teutons etc. It's a matter of lack of resources to do every single civ back in 1999.
Word.
They wont use the word "chaliphate", not even in a video game. :) Also, not hunting boars is not realistic because Abbasid Empire had Christians and Jews and Muslims along with other faiths. Same is true for Delhi Sultanate because they always were majority Hindu Empire.
@@sharifkabir3512
Exceptions for minorities doesn't justify generalization.
As an Arab I love this so much! Especially the pork haram detail!
Same!
@@abc98114 same !
yay the house of wisdom is from my city Baghdad, cant wait for the full release.
May Baghdad become great and peaceful again IA.
This is my favourite mechanic in the game. It captures our age of polymaths and the versatility of our scholars with the four wings of research
I have watched all of these civilization videos, and after each one I think "Well, that civ is going to be OP compared to the others." Each one. That's amazing!
Same, for some reason I always think "other civs can't possibly match this" :D
They are all OP and that makes them both fun and ironically balanced XD
Yep every civs have very strong bonuses.
I didn't know the House of Wisdom gains substantially more health with each age up: with 22,000 I think it has the most HP of all buildings . This is why I love these civ overviews because I would've never picked it up on my own
The downside is that an enemy just needs to destroy the HoW and initial TC for landmark victory. The thing needs to have a gigantic hitpoint pool.
Love the details, especially the boar can't be hunted by Abbasids, and actually the "Abbasids" is pronounced as "Abbasi" like without the "D", So it's called "Khilafat-e-Abbasi" in other words "Abassi Caliphate"
thank you for share it
Abbasids is the english pronounciation of it, hence why the d is pronounced.
@@beedykh2235 no it's not
"-id" is a Greek suffix meaning "the descendant of" that got carried into English. "The Abbasids" means "the descendants of Abbas", equivalent to saying "Banu Abbas". Similar patterns can be found in "the Umayyads", and the pattern traces back to names like "the Seleucids", "the descendants of Seleucus".

That was new to me, very useful and important to know. Thank you so much. Much appreciated.
I think I have been living under a rock, because I just found out about this game.
Let the hype commence! =]
Yeah not gonna defend you, its been in the making for like 4 years and the series goes back 25 years.
I've been waiting for this game since i know myself. Since i finished the campaign from aoe3 lol
You might be pleasantly surprised to find out that the series has three games before it (though the second one is probably the most popular).
Lol same and so hyped to play it
Can't wait to play this! Man it feels like 2000 again.
Mobile game from 2000.
pray for us those who do not have reach enough system requirements to play it yet Lol.
I really appreciate the detail and making the Abbasids not hunt pork and it would be amazing if you change the name from Dynasty to Caliphate, that would be awesome.
No
agreed it was called Caliphate after all and upto this day 1 billion + sunni muslims call it Khilafat Banu Abbasia "The Caliphate of the sons of Abbas(Prophet Muhammad Uncle )" or Simply Abbasid Caliphate .
They were probably scared to call it that in case som peaceful peace lovers get offended and burn down their office
@@adilstudio14 the abbasids themselves are still a dynasty, the caliphate is the form of rule
I'm a Muslim Arab and I studied history. Dynasty is also okay and accurate. But I agree, I am so glad they added them to the game.
The Abbasids cannot hunt boar for food because it is forbidden in Islamic Haram rule, that makes it more realistic!
But historically people ate pork, why do you think the rule was made in the first place? Makes sense that it should be allowed in dark age, as even islamic rule allows for eating pork if you have nothing else to eat.
@@ET_AYY_LMAO The Abbasids came into power in 750AD, when Islam and its forbidding-eating-pork-rule had already been well-established throughout the Arab world. Also the generated map is well populated with other sources of food, so the "having nothing else to eat" argument is invalid here.
Makes no sense. It should just give a debuff to moral or something, but should be allowed.
Christians aren't allowed to murder others, especially innocent villagers, yet we do it in the game all the time.
@@Lancor84 depends on which christian flow you talk about .
@@Lancor84also it’s incredibly rare in Muslim countries for people to eat pork, wasn’t the hardest thing to sacrifice haha.
So good. The attention to detail is what I always loved (each civ population speaking a specific language) and what I always wanted (Pork not edible for Muslims, the Caliphate getting a bonus age because they were ahead while Europe was in Dark Ages). I hope this game is half as good as AoE II, that will make it worth it. Looking amazing so far.
"good" is an abstract concept. But AOEIV is 100% more realistic game than AOEII, some people may don't care but I love the uniqueness of the civs, always hated that all units look pretty much the same in AOEII and only some stats were different...
@@viktorianas it looks like the "standard units" also look different from culture to culture, the abbasid infantry has turban and curved sword to example, i didnt see if its also the case for archers, spearmen and cavalry, i hope it is. Its just not immersive to play as mongols or abbasids and being able to recruit crossbowmen or heavy cavalry that look european. (afaik, these cultures didnt even use crossbows?) So their archer upgrades should just get stronger bows but not crossbow.
@@Scout887 The generic units have varying skins across all the eight playable civs. So, yes every unit looks unique with perhaps a few minor exceptions. The Abbassid dynasty also did use crossbows quite often although not as prominently as their European counterparts.
Nice attentions to details
@@viktorianas Not really. Age of Empires II is a time tested game that is still relevant today which Age of Empires III, which is 150% more realistic than AoE II and had pretty graphics but still managed to fall short. Age of Empire II is GOOD at what it is and what it does - being a game.
I think lots of people think all those "Arab" tribe use camel than horse, but in fact the horse are more dominant in warfare for obvious reasons.
They have the same access to horsemen as well. And yes, camels were used irl to counter horses because for some reason horses are scared of them
@@annaairahala9462 I mean, why wouldn't they? They spit, I'm terrified of llamas myself.
@@marcusanark2541 i dont know why i laughed so hard at this lmao.
@@annaairahala9462 so they have horse archers?
@@adamjohnsonstudio7910 Only 2 civs have a form of horse archers, being Mongols and the Rus. Mongols make sense because they revolutionized horse archery, the Rus also make sense but in way that's harder to describe that isn't as strong as the Mongol's reason.
I tried finding information on if the abassids employed horse archers specifically and I haven't found much. It's likely they would have had some at some point, but if they were they were never used much. I did find "Camel archers" were a thing, but they seem to have been more uncommon and it sounds like actual camel archers would dismount before firing. The actual camel melee warfare is fairly accurate though as many in the Arabian area would use camels for the additional height, additional maneuverability, better resistance to the elements, and natural counter to enemy horses, although once again dismounting the camel to fight was also quite common. Later on after aoe4 time period, they would once again see a rise in use for some time because of their fearlessness as they were one of the few animals to not freak out at gunfire.
Horse archers weren't exactly the best units like aoe2 might make you believe, so it does make sense to me why not many civs have them. If there would be an inaccuracy I'd point out is that it's probably more realistic to just not even have a camel archer unit, but having camel archers still seems to me like a decent gameplay decision if you also consider how much more inaccurate it would be to give everyone viable horse archers
Don’t mess with the Abbasid camel boys
Agreed. 😂
Realistically they never used camels in combat... Just in movmemnet
@Bane? Yeah They could make unites like the duelers(mubarzeen) nafatun or even hashashins
@@ashiinsane90 well actually they used them in some islamic conquest for fighting and transporting supplies and because the abbasids are bnu abbas or the once who are descended from abbas they could have used camales in thier wars, but after the conquest camales became expensive after the arabs controlled the most important trade routes they needed all camels to be able to trade with everyone while horses were sufficient enough to them for fights,
@@glorioustea7433 They used camels in very early conquest before the army was organized and they used them for movement not for combat, a camel is way slower than a horse there is no comparison. That gives you huge disadvantage, you cant catch up to enemies you cant outrun them you cant escape and u cant even ambush.. Arabs having used camels in combat is hollywood propaganda..
Imagine if they release new Civilizations and cover the entire earth Civs during the Middle Ages. Next Ottomans, Byzantines and Japanese.

YOU GUYS ARE DOING A GREAT JOB!!!!
>Abbasids are the bane of cavalry-based armies

I really like these spotlights. Each of the civs so far seems very different than the normal AOE2 where just changes in the economy and certain bonuses to military units. Granted some like the Huns that don't have houses or Chinese with extra villagers (That I can remember) Some of them felt minor IMO. AOE4 seem more asymmetric than ever.
It's actually looking like a great sequel. I really hope it's gonna be worth it after all these years. I was about 5 when I first played AoE 1. I am now an adult, I have grown up with this game and I'm very glad that it's still a living franchise. Good luck with finishing touches & hope it's great! :)
As a Muslim this is very good and accurate to an Islamic civilization in proud of the amount of research relic have done to the point they know that boar meat is forbidden in our religion

Thank you from the heart. We Arabs appreciate your attention to these details and this important historical part of the great Arab history
But people ate pork in dark ages (476-800ce) why do you think the rule was made in the first place? There is good reasons to not eat pork if you cannot properly cook the meat and do not understand the importance of sterilizing pork meat with heat.

Just wanted to point out the historically speaking camels have almost never been used in armies let alone being the back bone of an empire. The abbasids were renowned for their heavy calvary but I guess that would be boring for a game so whatever

What an amazing attention to details!
If they'll make age of empires 5 it would be great if they will go back to ancient civilisations(aoe 1) with depth gameplay and complexity just like in age4

Camel archers and Camel warriors are very very similar to each other. @Relic Please make one of the camels darker colour or something so that we can easily distinguish at a glance. Thank you.

The Arabic voice lines are spot on btw! The pronunciation makes them sound so damn epic. Thank you for putting this much effort into these factions.

Is the upgrade for camels that effects armor bonus for infantry only for the own or also for allied infantrys?

they need to buff abassid, having only two landmarks with extremely close proximity makes them such an easy target.
I found it hard to play against a decent Abbasid player as HRE, especially when they mass their camels; only way was by being aggressive since early game, but a good player can somewhat easily counter that and punish hard later.

Interesting
Construction - hunching down and staring at the yellow ghost. What on earth?! That's a step back from age of empires 2!
How? In AoE 2 villagers just hit one time the ground and somehow other units couldn’t walk over it. I think now it’s 1000 times better.
@@aluimmumitat Haha, in that respect, yes better. But the infantry unit's construction just hunching in the direction of the building and a yellow ghost building it is rather silly looking. Couldn't they just have the villager/infantry doing a slowed down version of that animation? It breaks the immersion
Definitely my first go-to Civ. I'm a sucker for persian architecture and culture.

Talk about RP-ing in AoE, boars are haraam. That's awesome 😎👍👍
Do the same units in different factions have different skins and visuals? I hope so
They do, all the "generic" units get a faction reskin, or at least a regional reskin
@@adamhoughton9516 Generic units still got some unique between factions, example: English Men-at-arms can train in dark age and have unique armor tech which different with Generic Men-at-arms. HRE can drop their shield to use two hand axe which do bonus damage to heavy armor unit, or Chinese don't use sword and shield instead they use a Glaive which deal splash damage attack.

Finally that solved the decades-long issue of why the Moors and Saracens from AoE2 could hunt boars for food!
The Abbasids built Baghdad & ruled for 800 years until the mongols destroyed the empire, the Abbasid period was by far the golden age of Islam, they were known of their skills in trading & science knowledge & poetry
I dont know why they don't have a cavarly strong army i mean the Abbasids in real history didn't use any camel fithing force as there army was made up nearly entirely by heavy cavarly and a large detachments of horse archers with somtimes there heavy cavarly horsmen dismounted and fighting as heavy infantry called *mouladins*
Where can I find abbasid caliphate?
In my game there's only rus/norman/english/mongol

There is a size disproportion between units and buildings. This makes the game looks funny.
The game will be better if they make units a little smaller.
It's a common thing any RTS that use anything less modern than WW¹

We need more blood effects! BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD
Loving the diversity.
Funny how the Abbasid camels are a counter to horses, which means the Abbasids are a soft counter to the Mongols, when it was the Mongols that largely reduced the Abbasids to ruin historically
I love the fact that they cannot hunt or gather boars. It's like a small detail that shows the dedication they put in this game.
I really hope the game is the next big thing in the RTS scenario...
It makes me love microsoft more!!!!! From Minecraft to AoE, Microsoft you are the BEST !!!!!!!!!!

I even know that maybe there should be some detail improved in the gameplay because Halo Wars is top, but I prefer the texture and camera of Age of Empires 2.
Why no Ottomans tho?

They will surely add it.
Byzantines, Turks coming
With only 8 civs on release I think they chose wisely. I wouldn't be shocked if Ottomans come as a future dlc, but I'd expect an African civ dlc and meso civ dlc first
They will come with DLC, readding Ottomans will be adding Byzantines too for historical accurate like If has a Spanish will be add Aztec, Maya and Inca too.
