This is Awesome!! I thought it was my transmission! My head was spinning thinking about how much it would cost to replace the transmission. 😆 I watched this video and this is exactly what was wrong! Thanks!!!
This happened to wife's Sebring convertible last night and had to have it towed home. After watching your video, this was exactly what was wrong. The part was less than $25 and son had it repaired in five minutes. Thank you!!
@@BrokenWrenches yes I watched video and went to my car pop the hood and checked and that was exactly what is wrong I seen the part she had showed it was actually held together by a zip tie the person that sold me this car three years ago must have zip-tied it instead of buying the cheap part. I had actually just pulled into my driveway got home from an 18-hour shift at the nursing home, and then all of a sudden I tried to leave to go to the grocery store and my car wouldn't come out of park it said it was in neutral 😐 . Searched on UA-cam what might be wrong watched seven or eight videos everyone said it was the little pink thing so I popped off the little silver round thing around the gear shifter looked at the little pink part tried the little flathead screwdriver trick that didn't work, so I continued searching through videos and finally found this one which was a completely different issue and I'm so glad I kept looking because this is exactly what it was!!! Thank you so much for making this video!! You are a lifesaver you have saved me hundreds of dollar as I know the Chrysler dealership would have charged me my unborn first child 🥴
I wish I could give you a hug & buy you a beer. Woke up 6 am to go to the store, wouldn’t shift. Googled everything & came across your video & was exactly the issue. 🙏🏾 $21 part & my thumbs hurt bc I did it at orileys but it’s fixed! THANK YOU!!!!!
Yes my kids Sebring would now start and it was because the brushing broke off and while I thought the car was in park it was actually in drive. I manually put the car in park with my hand under the hood and it started right up. Thanks so much!
This just happened to me 5/18/24 I struggled so long with a pack of bushings from advance auto, after finding this video I still had some trouble but here are some tips. 1 Use a 10mm socket and insert the clip end of the bushing into the 6point side and on the other end I used a 6in extension. 2 I then used this to push the bearing onto the top of the trans point (whatever it’s called the little ball). 3 the shift cable end is bigger than the bushing so you should have no problem putting it over the bushing. 4 then I just used the retention clip. Kinda long sorry but this is what worked very thankful for the video also my car was in L gear PRND3L
If the dash says its in neutral it’s probably in neutral. Look under the air filter box and see if cable is off the top of transmission. Could also be the switch that unlocks the shifter when you push the brake pedal. Check cable first.
Exactly what mine did.Hit a big hole and was stuck in first gear long ride home kept flooring and coasting flooring and coasting ughh.o'reilys doorman 👍💪😇🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
if it goes into gear then probably not. when the shift arm comes apart it sticks in whatever gear it was in regardless of position of shifter, for example if it broke in drive you would have no reverse, park, neutral or other gears,
@@ccbcc831 if the car is 100% in neutral and the dash shows its in neutral then it has broken the clip on one end of the cable or the other. Could be the one in the video or the other end on the shifter.
@@BrokenWrenches I'm having the same problem and I don't think you answered thr question. What's the problem if the gear shift move but the dashboard says park.

Will this 14055 dorman part that the edit says actually fit on a 2008 sebring?
yes sir, the part on top of transmission the cable connects to.
So the part fits in the cable end, then snaps down on the nipple on the transmission bracket?
By the way thank you for the last reply and in advance for this last ?
Saved my ass a lot of money, thank you.
Thank you for the advice you tha man

I see this was 2 years ago. my 2008 downshifts while traveling at full speed, what is the problem , anybody?
Hey man my shifter shifts but on the dashboard it doesn’t move from Park, it only shifted when I moved shift arm. Do you think I need a bushing?
I have a 2009 Chrysler Sebring
if it goes into gear then probably not. when the shift arm comes apart it sticks in whatever gear it was in regardless of position of shifter, for example if it broke in drive you would have no reverse, park, neutral or other gears,
How about if it locks into park, won’t shift but show N on dash and is in neutral? Just Jolene’s today lol
