THANK YOU! I have a 2002 Audi Allroad and I replaced the brake pedal switch sensor and the transmission was still stuck in park. As well the heater and air conditioner weren't working as well as the 4 level air suspension. After watching your video, I checked all of the fuses and it was the CONTROL SUPPLY 10 amp fuse that I switched out with a new fuse and it FIXED IT! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR VIDEO!
My car is currently at the dealership after dropping it off less than an hour ago (a "free" recall and replace of it's AirBag). While there I advised them of the shifter being stuck (the same behavior as your shifter). They told me they would diagnose the problem for $125 and then contact me with the repair cost. - Your video has just saved me hundreds of dollars. I called them immediately to tell them to forget their diagnosis and just let me know when they completed the AirBag Recall - Thank you!
Same! Just called them to schedule my recall fix. Told them about my issue and they said it would cost $150 to diagnose, which would go towards the fix.... so could’ve easily been much more $$$. Thank you!!

I had the same problems on my 2016 tecoma. 1. Brake overide Malfunction. 2. Check AnitLock Brake system. 3. Shifter stuck in Park. 4. No Startup and goes into assessory mode. Once I replaced the bad 10A brake fuse, all the errors went away and startup no problem and shift out of park as well. Thank you for your video and advice. This is what I encountered on a 2008 Yaris (hatchback base) after changing a rear brakelight. The STOP fuse had popped, disabling the braking. I felt very resourceful after finding the fuse (#9 inside) and replacing it.
2002 tacoma! Dam bro! You got me off the side of a back road, thank you thank you! I lost my dash lights and tail light so pulled over and was stuck. Thank again, need to figure out what’s causing it. 165,000 miles on it no rust great truck! Wish me luck!
Glad it turned out to be something simple, this is why I avoid firing the "parts cannon" at problems without at least pulling up a wiring diagram and checking some voltages first. Not only to save on unnecessary new parts, but also because a "NEW" part could potentially be defective out of the box, further complicating your original diagnosis by adding even more problems into the system. Also it's worth considering what caused that fuse to blow in the first place, it could just be age but it's also possible you have an underlying intermittent short somewhere. That isn't a big deal as long as you make sure to replace the fuse with the same rating, worst case scenario it just blows again down the road and you can diagnose it further at that point. In fact I'd do the same as you in this case, fuses are cheap and there's no point pulling up panels and carpet unless it blows for a second time IMO.
Funny you say that. Now that I think about it... it blew when I was pulling a trailer... which I’ve never done before. Didn’t notice the broken cruise control or back up lights for about 3 months.
So oh my lord!!! I just changed my light switch on my 2000 Toyota Camry. I had to research it. I am not a mechanic. My late husband was and he passed two years ago. Sooo I researched how to and did It myself. Proud being a girl and all. But that didn’t fix the issue. Unplugged battery as well. 😂 I feel like I did everything you did, except I didn’t check the fuse! 😅that’s what I’ll be doing next. I have to go buy new fuses so I can replace. That's a great video. I just had a KIA Forte that didn't want to go out of park. And when I had it all apart, there was just a screw that came undone, so I decided that I'll film it and post it here as well. But it seems like that KIA has a problem with their shifting mechanism.

Same problem, i google every reason my brake light wont work and shifter stuck. Only you suggest the simplest and easiest problem to solve ! Others suggest interlock selonoid and break switch. I changed the fuse, Bammmm... My shifter and brake light start to work again. Thank youuu !!!!
I realized that it would start working again by lightly pressing the brake pedal upwards, this is, the other way you usually press your brake pedal. I wonder if I could finally fix it by just adjusting it a little bit instead of changing the entire piece
Having a simulator problem with my 2004 Mitsubishi endeavor ether it won't come out of park or won't go into park unless you fiddle with the shift linkage or turn off the car start it back up and it will go into park. haven't figured this one our yet but this video gave me some direction to possibly follow.

Thanks for info. 2007 equinox, shift stuck in park, key would not let me complete shut off to remove it. Before happened, the roof lights blinked day before.didnt seem to be acting normal. And power locks would not always lock door. Battery draining after 3 months. Removed tab under steering wheel,pushed in spring,removed key. Testing fuses,charging battery, etc.take care.
@@ed3643The way I fixed mine was the gear shift cord/ transmission connection was lose. The transmission lever and shift cable slipped out. It was not the fuse.
Yeah I just had to replace the fues for the tail light and break lights and yes could not get shifter to move from park thought that was odd but with me the fues is the first thing I checked even before watching this video. So it's an easy fix

Checked battery and it is good. Replaced alternator and it still doesn’t charge? I’m at a loss for why it won’t charge. Is there a fuse that could be blown? Fuse box in engine was replaced and not the same as the original manufacturers so the diagram doesn’t match and I have no idea what fuse is what under the hood. The interior is the original and everything seems to be ok with the fuses. Any advise would be appreciated Thnx.
My 2003 Chevy trailblazer had that problem change the shift link and that wasn't a problem are there messed around with the fuse or whatever and then you know it kind of blinked on whatever but the ignition will not turn to the off position
I changed that little switch u did under the brake area all seemed to work fine but now I’ve noticed the brake pedal gets stuck in the braking position sometimes. After a while u can smell brake burn. But if I slap the brake pad with my foot a few times it goes back to normal lol it’s a 2007 Honda Pilot
Rogue 2010- the cruise control light comes on without activating it occasionally and needs to be switched off manually. I also have trouble moving the car from the parking position occasionally.
Soooo glad I watched this last night legit ended up being the same thing in a 95 celica gt. Was driving me nuts thought the solenoid for shifter went bad.
Unless you drive almost any Nissan because they use the a p.o.s plastic plunger with a flimsy metal arm to engage the shifter out of park once the brake is applied... and they fail thousands of times every single model they have ever made from 2012-2020 and they refuse to recall them they just send you a bulletin about it and how to replace the part.!! How can they even get away with that. $20 part but takes an hour to get all the panels screws and wires moved to get the center console out and replace the part if so inclined or a $699 replace and repair cost for something they know is their fault .... nuts. I wished it were a fuse on my 2014 Altima but thanks for the video!!
I have a Hyundai Santa Fe that will not shift, had a ESC light on in dash. Hear clicking sound that talks about possible brake issue. We will check that fuse to see if it is the cause.
Hmmmm definitely something I'm gonna have to check. Yesterday my car also locked into park. However, I also lost all my dash lights (including the digital odometer, trip, mpg, ect) only excluding the air bag light (furthest light to the left). Shift lock release worked; until put back in park - same as in the video.
@@Abursey2 sorry I just saw your question. Yes, I did figure it out. After scouring UA-cam I found a suggestion to spray out the gage cluster. I thought it was ridiculous and completely irrelevant. It worked! I tried everything else; so, I figured what the heck. Try it out. It freaking worked!

Whenever i turn my FX35 on, hit the brake and try to ship, i have difficulty pressing the shifter to switch to reverse or drive... but after it shifts it works normally. Had same issue on a 1996 Ford F-250. Wouldn’t shift out of park and no brake lights.I checked the brake on/off (BOO) switch with an ohm meter set to continuity. The switch was ok. Turned out to be a 10 amp fuse for the trailer lites located in a fuse box under the hood. I had just put new lites on a trailer, and a wire got crimped and eventually shorted out. It’s a sick feeling when you start up your vehicle, and it won’t go into gear. On trucks with a towing package, they have the additional fuse for the trailer lite receptacle along with the usual 10 amp fuse in the passenger compartment

My 94 Maxima has central lock doesn't work as well as yoir problem. On mine it is an intermittent problem. Also my indicators stop working as well as all the other problems.

05 Camry, shifter won't move, no lights in interior of car, key turns but no sound at all. Alternator, battery, are checked good

However, I also lost all my dash lights (including the digital odometer, trip, mpg, ect) only excluding the air bag light (furthest light to the left). Shift lock release worked; until put back in park - same as in the video.
My car just did this 2 weeks ago. Did you find out what the problem is?
@@Abursey2 sorry I just saw your question. Yes, I did figure it out. After scouring UA-cam I found a suggestion to spray out the gage cluster. I thought it was ridiculous and completely irrelevant. It worked! I tried everything else; so, I figured what the heck. Try it out. It freaking worked!
With compressed air........spray out the gage cluster with compressed air. Sorry i left that out accident.
I have the same problem...also windows, ac/heat and radio doesn't work

Hi, my shiter knob is stuck and also sometime it feels as I do not have power steering. After I get the car out of park (by pressing the knob) on occasion I feel the steering is very tight.
Can this also be a fuse?
Thanks for this video. I have a question, its hard to figure out... Whenever i turn my FX35 on, hit the brake and try to ship, i have difficulty pressing the shifter to switch to reverse or drive... but after it shifts it works normally. Its only time this happens is when its in park. i don't even know how to explain.
So do you feel that the brake switch was not the issue, or maybe it was both? Great job on the video. I have a 97 RAV4 that the cruise was blinking and the shifter just locked up today. I will check brake lights when my son gets home from work.
This was a while ago. But I think I put the old switch back in. Changed the fuse. And it worked
2004 Acura TSX, custom radio isntall went out then later I couldn't shift unless I pressed that button manually. I haven't noticed any other things.

All of this is happening to me, except my brake lights seem to be working. Could it still be a fuse or even the brake switch...? Im just confused b/c brake lights work.
I had the same problem and I did exactly the same thing, but now my car does not move either backwards or forward. What it is happening and what can I do to fix it. It looks my breaks got stucked. Any suggesting ?

Had same issue on a 1996 Ford F-250. Wouldn’t shift out of park and no brake lights.I checked the brake on/off (BOO) switch with an ohm meter set to continuity. The switch was ok. Turned out to be a 10 amp fuse for the trailer lites located in a fuse box under the hood. I had just put new lites on a trailer, and a wire got crimped and eventually shorted out. It’s a sick feeling when you start up your vehicle, and it won’t go into gear. On trucks with a towing package, they have the additional fuse for the trailer lite receptacle along with the usual 10 amp fuse in the passenger compartment
I have a 1994 van I change shifts no problem but where you see the red thing moves when park and moves when you change to d for drive but doesn’t work can you please tell me how to fix it
My 94 Maxima has central lock doesn't work as well as yoir problem.
On mine it is an intermittent problem.
Also my indicators stop working as well as all the other problems.
Did u find out why the fuse blew ??
