Hauling Calf Pen Manure/Grinding Ear Corn

- The temps continue to rise, so we took advantage and decided to get started on some spring cleaning. The boys gave us a helping hand by cleaning out the calf pens in the barn. Meanwhile, Alan ground some more ear corn. The 820 John Deere was a great help with spreading manure.

Trinity Dairy was established in 2006, in Minnesota. Alan and Jennifer farm with their 5 children; Jessica, Justin, Jordan, Joshua, and Jason. We milk a mix of 33 Jersey, Holstein, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, and Ayrshire cattle. We also enjoy sharing our family's love of Draft Horses and using them for logging and other farm work. Dairy Farming in Minnesota can be challenging, but it's a lifestyle we really enjoy. Subscribe today to watch our small family dairy farm and family grow while continuing to thank our Lord for the blessings we've been given.
Pitching those pens is one of the first "heavier duty" I did back in my early youth. I suspect that's par for all of us as kids on a dairy farm. Good job guys!!
That little guy driving the tractor sure looked proud doing his task.😊
I grew up with a fork in my hands ,builds character . Nice seeing Justin grow into his responsibilities . Great video Al .
In a world of turmoil its refreshing to see family working together for the greater good keep the faith
It was always a nice reward getting to haul the manure after pitching the spreader full.
Be proud of your kids they are learning life lessons every day and hopefully at least one will want to take over the farm someday. Great video. winter has been good here in Minnesota. It's very dry and we really need this snow that's coming. Thanks for sharing!
That's a good-sized tractor for him
Love your videos!!!❤❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤ OOOOOOOOOOH YES WE ENJOYED IT 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Remember them days cleaning out calves puts muscle on the kids like your videos
Most farm kids pitch manure like that. How many did it with such a great attitude..Al and Jen yiu have some hard working kids. 💪
Thanks for sharing, Alan. Nice to see another nice video....always enjoy them, also enjoy the kids helping up.
Had to love = 'Boys are filling it up'. Growing up on the farm, we learned how to run a fork before a tractor.
I don’t have cattle,, just chickens,,, but I do have a old spreader I’ve rebuilt, painted and I use it for yard work and chiken coup
There's nothing like forking 💩 build character and bodies! Great video, and really nice that you have your family directly involved in how you live. Young people who only know that parents go to work 8 hours a day don't appreciate or understand things farm kids get early on.👍👍
Years ago, I,Manure, many times, Thank you, Boy's 👏👏👏( N.G Ind)
That's brutal filling the spreader with a hay fork and a wheel barrow!
Loaded many loads that way!
My dad and I love your videos thanks for sharing them God bless you and your family
Good job kids. Go to show how hard of workers you are and you have a heart for farming. God bless
You guys have got to be super proud of those young helpers, they are unbelievable, so young and yet we can already see their work ethic is second to no one.... GREAT JOB GUYS....... btim sw pa
I enjoy all your videos
My wife a d I love your vids.God bless you all
Brings back memories of my brother and I cleaning out our barn, can't say my attitude was always as good as your boys appears to be. I was the oldest so was expected to do a larger portion. Definitely good for building muscle and character.
Another very interesting video Thank you God Bless you and your family 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
God Bless.
Your boys are growing up, cleaning the calf pens out and then driving the tractor and manure spreader. Take care and God bless.
Kids are having a ball sounds wonderful 👍
Very nice job and God bless y'all
enjoy watching your kids work
Definitely enjoyed the video.Excellent done.
Yes, reminds me of my Dad and I forking out the calf pens in the barn. At least we didn't need to use a wheel barrow and fork it 2x ! Park the spreader by one of the doors and it went in direct. Dad taught me to wet my gloves in the drinking cups so to get a better grip on the fork handle and less likely to get blisters. We had a Minnesota spreader similar to yours but it was a larger 160 bushel.
If I could go back in time 40yrs ago, one picture I would want to have taken would be me and my Dad standing next to a full spreader by the barn with our boots on and holding our forks, haha.
Also shoveled a lot of ear corn in the Gehl feed mill.
I had a Minnesota 160 bu spreader also.
I bought it new from Opole Impl in 1982
$1600
It's about time you made a video
We've been sick for over two weeks, so that stopped the videos for a little while.
thank you
Kids are doing a great job
Great video as always and it's always good seeing the kids out working with you as well. Have a great year and God bless
Thanks for sharing
Great video! I got twin Guernsey bull calves a couple weeks ago from a neighbor and just got a jersey bull calf from a different farm on Monday. First time I've had Guernseys but they're doing good!
6:18............."it slid good in the wagon""
THAT ,to me, was a good test if cob corn is dry.
Good job guys hard working boys
Unusually warm temps this winter.
U guys need some more John Deere Tractor's
My kids used to do that also now there grown up and quess who is doing it now, greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
I was always jealous of my cousins that got to grow up on my uncle's dairy in Delaware co. ny. Always work to be done around the farm.
Good work 👍
Howdy Allen, Jen, Family, I hope ya'll are doing well,
Always good to see the Family helping out with chores, doing their part, our parents were exactly the same way, we all had our chores to do, it keeps our Family close, and teaches us to work together to get the jobs done safely and on time, builds character, and brings the Family closer together, I remember a neighbor commenting once when i was about 11/12 years old, and my Friend's Dad said he'd never seen kids on any farm, work so hard, i remember thinking to myself, what a strange thing for an adult to say ?? I never once thought we were being worked to hard, I loved working hard on our Family Farm, helping my parents raise our beef, horses, grow our own feed, that was living, and 5th generation later, still is living, oh by the way Allen, Jen, i just received my my second shirt and hat yesterday, of all the Farm shirts, hats, toques, Trinity Dairy is the one I get asked most about, Thank you, Stay safe, God Bless and Farm on my Friends
Thank you, and God bless!
Are the dairy cows worth having anymore ???
Good young men you are raising. Take care and stay safe.
You definitely better not be in it to get rich. We do enjoy being able to raise the kids with the cows and Jen is at home with the kids, so that makes it worth it for us.
You should run that spreader before you fill it just to make sure it is not frozen down.
I did, just didn't have it on video.
It didn't look like the chain moved any snow in the spreader that is why I mentioned it
When the web breaks it no fun hand pitching it off. Been there done that.
Pitching box stalls by hand was the worst
ah pen pack did not take long for m to figure out i did not like that and i had to do something different so they went away, boys are doing good with the jd that will be there tractor now will be big help to you now
Tks for sharing. Seeing calf pens cleaning brings back memories. It's good to see your young men taking on a job and seeing it though. How's Demi doing? Jessica working her 4H things? You just feed straight corn gain? Or do you mix a dairy concentrate with a protein with it?
Demi is doing great! Jessica and Justin have been busy with 4H stuff. We feed a grain mix.
👍👌❤️🇨🇦
👀🙄🐾👍Great video Alan and Kids which one of the boys did the commentary? He did a good job
That was Jordan.
How did you turn your exhaust up on your little John Deere? I have a 1530 with an under slung exhaust that l hate when hooking equipment up. I can’t find a suitable elbow to turn mine.
My grandpa made a curve out of regular pipe, and just welded it to the flange.
@@trinitydairy I was going to buy a manifold and run it through the hood but with my luck I would break a bolt and have more trouble. Thanks for your suggestion.
What number is your John Deere. I had a 2030 when I was milking. It was 65 horse if I remember right.
@@user-gs8gs8ct6p 1530
Do you have a job off the farm ? I have been watching the Chanel for a while, never knew you did If so ..
I drive school bus.
If this is the same spreader that you stated the beater teeth were sharp ?? And clean ?? It could use some serious help / work ! Just saying !
The beaters are fine, I actually have taken the angle grinder and sharpened the teeth, they do have a few pieces of twine on them, but not bad. A bigger issue with that spreader is that the apron is only one speed, and it as a lot faster than I would like for pen pack manure, especially with this manure, because it wasn't straw, it was long bedding hay.
Are you guys going to make maple syrup again this year?
Yeah, we're actually cooking some right now.
@@trinitydairy I'm looking forward to some videos on that if you have time.
Yeah, we should have a video on that coming up.
What number is your John Deere.
820
Can you smell the profits going into your bank account?
Oh yeah!
