Hey sport the block is 454 destroyed with a 396-427 crankshaft 1973 or so it had a spin on filter anyways I know what you are talking about what I do in your case is glue the gasket to block with whether strip adhesive so it will stay in place then you can put the adapter on I think you can also put a oil filter gasket in place on the gasket that came with the kit larger 1 quart has the gasket on the edge. Almost sure I did it on 283 build..... almost sure?
You may know this... BUT.... be sure to use the correct BBC MOTOR MOUNTS.. they will offset the engine AWAY from the drivers side by one inch. Also must use correct transmission cross member that also offsets transmission to passenger side as well.... Just trying to help... good luck... www.Nova-SS.com
Did you switch over to a spin on oil filter. I have a 1966 block and have had problems using the Moroso adapter for a spin on they leak.
