    Thanks for the video your stable heart rate was admirable aswell as your effort and is the one aspect I'm most infatuated with. I run a sub 21 min 5k, which works out to about 4"12-15 per km, which I ran just about to weeks ago. My max heart rate is 203 yet somehow yesterday on a 5k my heart rate was supposedly 185 on average which is pretty high for a progressive, albeit I did really push for the last lap although it was only a 4:30ish pace. What do you recommend I do to stabilize my heart rate during progressives to keep it at the threshold as you did during the video. Your heart rate didnt continuously climb even though you gave it a full send is what I want to emulate.

    • @LightitUpSB
      @LightitUpSB  Місяць тому +1

      @@johnnkurunziza5012 I’m no coach but doing longer efforts around lactate threshold (so for me around 4:10-4:20) for longer periods has really trained me to be able to sit in that sub threshold and know when it’s creeping over. So for a progressive run that’s essential to not go too deep too soon. I’m so used to that now that’s why I set out hard this time to force my body to go into 10/10 from the first k! Get in some long interval efforts during a long run- eg I have 16k of marathon pace in the middle of a 29k long run next week. So that’s just below threshold pace for a long way. Check my video out I did a few weeks ago- I did two parkruns in one go for that exact reason! Thanks so much for watching, massively appreciated!

      @LightitUpSB Thank you so much I really appreciate the thoruoughy insight you definitely deserve and will gain far more subscribers. My lactate threshold is probably 5:00 ish atm which is weird given my 5k is 4:15-4:20 range. Hoping to reach your INSANE levels hopefully in the near future. Take care will definitely checkout some of your older videos for further insight. Take care happy new year and happy running :).

    • @LightitUpSB
      @LightitUpSB  Місяць тому +1

      @@johnnkurunziza5012 that sounds around the right level- mine is about 30 seconds slower. If you have a Garmin you can do a lactate threshold test which is useful- for my marathon I’ll be using that number more than anything to help me pace it and stay in control in the first half! Keep running and training and you keep improving, thanks for the kind words, I’m striving to go quicker as well- there’s always that next goal!

    I have taken the last two weeks of intense training. My goal is under 19 minutes in 2025. Not sure it’s possible. But I’m gonna give it my all. My pb is 19:40 parkrun and 19:26 treadmill

    • @LightitUpSB
      @LightitUpSB  Місяць тому

      @@AndreRees you can do that for sure, it just takes time and consistency, and the right mindset. Start by going sub 19:30, then chip away 5-10 seconds at a time, you’ll get there, but don’t try and do it in one go! My next aim is a sub 19:20, then 19:10, then sub 19. Then we go 18:30 and beyond!!!
