Metal would be great. I have this mod and it took about 2 hours for the first partition (between 1st and 3rd) to break. But only a few hours later, the clamp inside snapped. As he says in the video, he felt he needed to 'wear it in' because it clamps so tightly. But the material is so inflexible that as the shaft transitions between any of the 3 clamping points, it has to flex... and it can't, so it stresses and breaks.
So metal would work to stop those little partitions snapping, but the internal clamping part actually needs a softer filament so it doesn't stress during transitions.
Mine broke after 2 seconds, they Send me 2 New pieces for FREE. I feel they will broke too.
Are they Some other good options?
@@SpeedDemonsTiger After commenting here, I made a video showing where mine broke and why. They did the same and are sending me replacement parts. I'm going to file down the clamp before I install it but as it's the same rigid filament, I expect it to break too. So I've started researching other options. I've seen a metal one with rubber bands. I'll let you know how it goes.
Just an update for those who stumble across this. They've released a newer version (3.5) which is superior, has a PETG cam and also sell a stainless or aluminium plate that goes across the top of the unit.
This prolongs it's life, makes gear changes much more solid and, most important, increases the resistance from the stock shifter threefold.
Been meaning to try their new stuff to see how it compares, but good one for others to know

What’s your steering wheel setup dude? Coz every time I try to put down the power my wheel goes crazy
might need to turn your force feedback down a bit, i run between 600-700 rotation depending if im racing or drifting, pretty high centre spring scale, 20 damping, 45 linearity,
Is it broken yet? I and alot of other people had many problems with the v1 and v2 edition with breaking after a couple weeks or a few months, is this one still holding up?
this one definitely seems to be the most durable, just keep it greased up and it should be sweet for a while. just have to remember it is 3d printed so you can't expect a long life out of it
I just bought V3 and it broke after 3 days of use.

@@0luc83 To give credit when it's due the later nylon based prints from 3drap are much better, I ordered 3 but still haven't broke one yet after 3 months of use.

yeh you have to keep in mind it is 3dprinted, so you kinda gotta ease up and how hard you bang the gears aha

That just kind of seems pretty terrible - I mean it will add resistance but so far from ideal. Not sure if its worth it.
was good while it lasted, but i guess having a part like this 3d printed you can't expect it to take the abuse for long either. I do have a new mod waiting to go on and test out though!!
if you use the studio foam to help cancel the echo, it would sound a little better and more quite

can just use bearing or bush grease
What was that printed in? PLA? Next time have the person printing it print it in polycarbonate. That will last forever.

Mines weird where if I stick it into 3rd sometimes it goes into 1st or if you stick it in 5th it goes into 3rd are they all like this or should I get a new one?, also if they are does this help with that ?
maybe just miss shifting it? if it is actually in first then i don't think it is able to show up in any other gear with the way its all built.
U are misshifting mate, and yes this mod will help solve this problem as its got more weight to it and its easier to guide
There is a problem with the shifters not selecting correct gears. Pull one apart to see how they're built and you'll see how it's possible
Wont this make this a REALLY short throw shifter? The logitech shifter already has a really short throw out of the box...
nah, it doesnt change the throw length on it. it just changes how much force you need to change gears

aha, its more just the illusion that its shorter because that base bit sits up higher. but because you dont actually change anything with the linkage, the throw stays the same. all good dude :)
