To be fair the Truebrake is good, I owned the V1 which had 38kg spring as standard I think, it was great and slashed my lap times but it only lasted 2 yrs or so of regular racing before the potentiometer starting playing up and flickering so I have now swapped to the MVH load cell which is also good, I can’t decide which is better, I believe the MVH load cell will have more longevity than the Truebrake and is adjustable. Though both feel great and give similar results but I am slightly quicker on the MVH I think and it is an actual load cell after all
I had a few issues with getting it to full 100% braking pressure so ended up having a few emails back and forth with Rob who owns and runs AXC I think, he was really helpful, it’s a great mod and they’re helpful and friendly. If you get a chance you should get your hands on and review the MVH load cell for the Logitechs as a good comparison and I think you’d find it interesting 👍🏻
For me, I've had the issue with having hard time having a nice place to race in and pretty much gave up on sim racing after about a year with some random driving around, as I ran out of space for VR and sold it off. Now as I am grabbing a new VR HMD and getting something to bolt down the wheel and pedals as well (thanks tax returns). I started to gobble together a nice "ghetto rig", first step was to find a way to clamp my wheel (g920) on to my desk somehow as it is too thick for the clamps... And there was a go board which I don't use and couple clamps meant to keep wood stuck together to clamp that on to my desk instead. So next step was to grab flatmate's old chair which does not have wheels under it, and so I got ok starting point again. Now then, there was still some minor sliding issues, so next step was to put yoga mat under them, so no more sliding around, but guess what... It is REALLY hard to control braking if you are sitting your thighs flush on the seat (if you've ever wondered why racing seats are shaped like those are), so I got a bit creative and have now a towel at the edge of the chair, and blanket over it, this gave me a lot more confidence in braking, but the angle was a bit awkward and the last bit to finish current thing off with was Logitech G413 keyboard box under the edge to change the angle a bit... And all of this did allow me to trail brake bit better to the corner.. So braking consistency is the current biggest issue, so I'd say this will be one more thing to add on the shopping list.
I have a secretlab chair, with wheels. I use an adjustable light duty cargo strap from the hardware stote over each armrest and around the leg of the chair. I have a wooden box I put under the desk to put my pedals on. almost the same ergonomics as a sim rig, but I did need to pull my desk away from the wall a bit to get enough space for my legs and pedals
Great review. Cheers. I love this mod. I am still rocking it with my simagic wheel base and f-gt elite rig. I would suggest getting the independent cable directly connected to your pc for those still using the g29 wheel base. The Logitech software makes a funky brake curve. The bodnar cable has its own software that fixes that. Or maybe I was just imaging it
Thank you for this review, I have the G923 and now I know that I need to get a few thousand more laps in before I upgrade. I feel like my skill level just isn’t there yet

I have my pedals inverted so defo use the softest spring for the true break and whilst the stock break spring is ok in the clutch leave the accelerator spring alone if you are going to or have inverted your pedals or you will get some pretty sore ankles
I bought mine during the pandemic with the red spring 38kg for my inverted Logitech G29 pedals and loved them, especially with ACC on the PS5 and using the in-game brake settings from 65 to 85 max. I bought the FNTEC V2 pedals with the GT DD, GT3 wheel and also the Logitech G Pro racing wheel with their load cell pedals not long ago and would like to replicate that same feeling/force. Do you know if changing the BRF (brake force) on the FNTEC wheel to 38 or 40 would be the same as if using the TrueBrake kit with red spring 38kg on the Logitech G29 pedals? Thanks.
Great video, many thanks for sharing it. I'm interested in this upgrade but I have a concern - I have chronic fatigue syndrome and running a hard brake just won't work for me, so I'm after something that feels like a load cell while not requiring a great deal of pressure, while perhaps relying on a slightly increased amount of movement as a compensation. I could obviously try the weakest spring, but I've heard that the movement range is extremely small, just a few mm perhaps, so I was wondering if there was an option to allow a bigger range of motion, so it would be like part load cell part potentiometer?
Just go with the standard green spring, currently using the pedals attached to a platform made out of a peace of plywood bolted to the wall.. My DD is mounted to my desk using an luxury office chair with the wheels removed and it works great! For me the blue spring would be to soft!! The green one is perfect!
@@SuperWhiteBarry Many thanks for your reply and help. Just yesterday I gave in and bought Fanatec V2 pedals as a Xmas gift to myself, but your comment should help others who might be concerned about having an overly-stiff brake pedal. Thanks again anyway. :)
I think the sensor at 3:27 is going bad on my accelerator. I have the G29 and it's was purchased when it was first released. With the pedal mashed down the speed just barely increases, sometimes the speed picks up. Does it just need cleaned with some contact cleaner or replaced and if replaced where can it be purchased. Thank you for the great tutorial video's you do.
you can get contact cleaner with a small amount of appropriate lubricant mixed in from Element 14 or RS components. It will cost a bit more, a d is the right stuff to use on potentiometers. But it may not always work, your potentiometer might have a worn track rather than just be dirty. Also check the markings on the part, you may be able to swap it with the clutch potentiometer.
This was the video that finally sold me on the TrueBrake. Going to install it tomorrow. One question I have is the Brake Factor setting. Do you have any tips for the correct setting for Brake Factor with the True Brake?
In the current Forza competition for Logitech I’m in the top 2% of drivers in the world with a 1:12.044. Hopefully this helps me shave some time off my laps. I’ll have to check back in.
Great video! I will use your link. FYI - I'm fairly new to sim racing, about a month now, but have had hot rods and sports cars since 1978, and maybe its because I learned to drive LONG before ABS was around, I don't mind my $100 US (used) G29 peddles at all. But since everything I've heard says braking is better with TruBrake or load cell, I'm going to go that route. But could that be? I naturally always "pump" my brakes to some degree so maybe that's why stock G29 peddles seem ok. That being said, looking forward to the upgrade! Oh, and I'm in the US and I DO know how to butter a crumpet.... Ty
Hey Danny, I liked ur video on Logitech upgrade with the true brake. How ever,, I used ur hard spring n it wasn't to my liking. Way to stiff for me, so going to use a lower spring level. But I was curious as to what u would use, with what spacer with what spring? Also, you talked about the G cable and the other one, to connect directly to to a laptop, or PC? What does that do?
I'd say that if you liked the amount of initial travel you had, but didn't like the 'hardness' of the second stage then you should go down to the soft or semisoft spring and see what you think. The Logitech G adapter is logitech's official adapter that allows you to plug Logitech pedals directly into your PC, bypassing the steering wheel base which is normally required for pedals to work. There is also a Leo Bodnar cable which AXC Sim also seems to sell, which does the same job but is a third party product (still well regarded). If you're on console then neither of those are applicable to you, it only applies to PC, you can't 'separate' the hardware on Playstation or Xbox due to the way they work.
@@dannyleeracing thanks for the reply Danny. Your absolutely correct on ur diagnosis. Put in the blue spring and...holy crap! What a difference. Wow. Car even handles better, providing I don't overdrive the corners. Lol Still locking up the tires ever now and again, and adjusted down the bias to 52-51, seams to work. Have a great day and thanks for the help.
Thanks very much, I appreciate that - if you're struggling after some time, come back here and describe what you're having problems with and I'll see if I can help point you in the right direction. Once you get through the tricky early stages, it'll all be worth it, trust me!
Have you ever try the Logitech pro pedals? I want to upgrade my wheelbase to the pro wheel but wondering if I keep my G920 with the truebrake or swap for the pro pedal since you get a discount when you buy the wheels with the pedals! Thanks
in theory yes but it's not really necessary as clutch just depresses and releases it doesn't do anything if partially depressed you don't ride a clutch the way you do a break
A question? I have modded g27 pedals before. I used the first load cell mod,the AP Electrix mod which was excellent and I still have it but the True brake looks great. Now my question. What screws are used for the G27 and what hex screws are used for the pedal plates? These are the weak part of these pedals because they round out like putty after a few uses. I would love for AXC to make a screw and hex nut replacement to fool proof these pedals for the future.
Hon estly I would get the Thrustmaster T-LCM over fanatic CSL with the load cell as you can find them in stock at much lower price than what fanatec wants so for the budget racer that want want a load sell yount beat the T-LCM pedals
Yes I know about it please please please tell me how to order it I live in USA Michigan Detroit I tried five times with five different credit cards how do you order this thing wait for this thing for the last 4 months it keeps saying that the credit card won't go through or if they're fine Ford brand new cars for brand new people same thing error
Just ordered one of these through your link, im new to sim racing but even so was having all kinds of issues with the brake pedal on my beginner set up, hoping that this helps me out.
Was considering buying it but then i remembered that when I did the inverted pedal mod, i had to keep their cover casing just because i couldn't ply the wires off their original inputs. So i just swapped gass with clutch and was good to go
Excellent timing! Mine just arrived yesterday and I haven't installed it yet because I don't have the pliers. I'm not sure what effect the spacers have. I have the GT Omega classic stand and the seat tray so I don't know how much pressure will be best for me. Seems like a bit of pain to do and undo the casing until you get the right feel. I'd like to put on the hardest spring to modulate the pressure more finely but I don't know if the tray will hold. What do you guys think! Thank you so much for making this video!
What I did was to put some scales against a wall (as I am a desktop racer). In your case hopefully you can wedge them somewhere in the pedal area. Then I pushed as hard as I could, read the weight off the scales and used that to choose my springs.
@@albertovanoldenbarneveld7718 The green 23kg one. I still had to drop it a bit by calibrating via Windows USB Controllers. My pedals are against a wall but my office chair limits how hard I can push. I feel no great need to go to a harder spring though. The Logitech pedal plastic box creaks a bit even with the green spring!
I got dinged on my driving test 35 years ago for using two feet. It was rather absurd as it gave me more control and ensured I slowed down when moving my left foot, either with a clutch or brake.
Is it worth it while still using a G27 wheel + pedals? Or can you run the Pedals with any other wheel? I really want a step up from my g27setup and already have a new shifter. Cheers!
But if I want the best of the best feeling. Is it better to get the True Brake or the MVH Load Cell for Logitech G29 on PC and not considering the price and warranty.
I just installed this and I don’t have hardly any brake travel. I dropped the supplied spring in the stock upper housing then didn’t change anything on the true brake. I could tell right away the travel was reduced. I figured it was just me and put everything back together. I fired up a race and right away I didn’t have any brakes so I backed out to the calibration menu on GT7 and I could push the pedal all the way down and wouldn’t register. I could apply a lot of pressure and it would show a little brake but that’s it. Any suggestions or am I missing something stupid🤦🏻♂️ this is kind of embarrassing seeing how the couple videos I watched seemed like a simple drop in play mod…. Thanks for your help
Does anyone know if it is ONLY FOR LOGITECH? For example pedals like the TP8… for trusthmaster, or the PXN V10 which are similar… it is able to work, or even fit in?
They are snap ring pliers not circular pliers. Do you think its feasible to move the brake to the outside clutch position? I due use a clutch and hate the cramped nature of the pedals.
I have a bad left knee due to a childhood accident, and I'm looking to buy one of these.. I see it comes with a few different springs, do you think they're suitable (probably the easiest spring to use would be my go to) for someone in my position? As the Logitech brake pedal is really bad and I've only had the pedals a few days. Thanks in advance.
I have an issue with the setup. Cant apply force propperly as the setup wont allow. Do you know of any not incredibly expensive solution? Anyways than you for the video, truly amazing
@@dannyleeracingeither the chair tips or i slide backwards. I might end up either having to remove the Rubber or eventually need some sort of low end chasis but man i wish i could upgrade to the true brake mod. Looks mint!
If you use the right combination of spacers and spring then definitely - you can either have a distinct 2-step feel or almost none at all. The combination I use (hard spring with biggest spacer) gives the most pronounced 2-step feel
would this be a good mod to do if I just wanted to upgrade the wheelbase in the future to something like the fanatac csl dd and keep the shifter and pedals from the logitech to try and bring down cost?
I installed the softest spring and the thickest washer. I'm not doing well at all, losing a second to my best time (on minute lap track) on stock pedals. Complete lack of repeatability. Is this the result of several years on stock pedals?
Okay, after ~150 laps in F4 on Summit Point, there is a significant improvement, I equaled my best time and in fact, this mod gives much greater repeatability 😮 (only 2 incidents in that 150 laps) I don't feel confident enough to start the race yet, but I feel it will be fine. I just needed a lot of time to switch to the new pedal. Hundreds of thousands of kilometers on the original G29 pedals have left a habit.
I've gone from using the logitech break to these with the green spring and max-preload and I can barely get a car around a track now, you think there is an issue with my setup or is it normal for it to take some getting used too?
You'll get used to it, it does initially feel like a step backwards for a couple days until you form the muscle memory in your leg and get used to using force, but then it's full steam ahead to absolutely better laptimes and race pace. Same with all load cells or pressure-based sim brake pedals, and you're not alone in this, it's a very common thought!
@@dannyleeracing I think maybe the spring I have is too much. I basically use a pc chair with brakes on the wheels. I find that when i brake hard I just lift the chair up lol
I've just started and bought this mob as a priority, it's not complicated to install, just take your time, one tip though when you turn your pedals upside down rest the base on an open box but support the ends otherwise the base can slip inside the box.
This is only for the brake pedal and it doesn't produce force feedback or haptics like a controller, unfortunately! If you try using this for the accelerator then you'll have a real bad time...

I used AXC's pot replacement kits to refresh my G29 pedals so I could pass them down to my girlfriend's little brother with peace of mind. It's truly great quality kit
I think I'm gonna have to dump the contents of the hoover into the pedals to make the standard pots malfunction as they're nearly new. But when they do, the AXC-Sim linear pots will be in line for the thrones!
What is this obsession with stiff brake pedals? I get that some motorsports don't allow for brake boosters... But F1 cars need 125kg of pressure for full lock. Why would you want that on the couch in front of the TV?
I just wish logitech/GT7 would let me use the clutch as it is - as the brake - I don't need/want a clutch and stock G923 is way to stiff for my entry level liking.

Deciding between the Truebrake and the MVH Load Cell. Which do you like better at this time?
@PDRATV did you ever find an answer?
Or maybe I was just imaging it
Good tip, I've heard that about the Logitech software. Ultimately the bodnar cable could just be cheaper, anyway!
Thank you for this review, I have the G923 and now I know that I need to get a few thousand more laps in before I upgrade. I feel like my skill level just isn’t there yet
After several reviews yours was the best. I used your link to purchase as a TY, this will the first mod/upgrade in my sim racing journey. I can’t wait to try it!
Thanks man, I know you'll enjoy it - will take a little getting used to initially but once your head's dialed into it there'll be no stopping you. Come back and let me know how it goes, good or bad
@@LargeStyle Great pedal set! Enjoy! ;)
@@rubikmonat6589 Thank you very much for the reply, I'll definitely check it out.
This was the video that finally sold me on the TrueBrake.
Going to install it tomorrow.
One question I have is the Brake Factor setting.
Do you have any tips for the correct setting for Brake Factor with the True Brake?
If you have it apart that much my not move the pedals to an mdf board and space them out further than you can change the spring out faster
Can't you use this for all the pedals?

Just ordered through your link. First time on a wheel this week so I'm struggling with a lot of things at the moment. I hope this will help
Thanks
in theory couldnt you upgrade the clutch pedal with the same thing to make it far more accurate?
in theory yes but it's not really necessary as clutch just depresses and releases it doesn't do anything if partially depressed you don't ride a clutch the way you do a break
I think 4mm for the hex screws plates and philips head with a smaller phillips for the other screws I believe
Hon estly I would get the Thrustmaster T-LCM over fanatic CSL with the load cell as you can find them in stock at much lower price than what fanatec wants so for the budget racer that want want a load sell yount beat the T-LCM pedals
Would this setup perform and feel better than the thrustmaster T-LCM?
Yes I know about it please please please tell me how to order it I live in USA Michigan Detroit I tried five times with five different credit cards how do you order this thing wait for this thing for the last 4 months it keeps saying that the credit card won't go through or if they're fine Ford brand new cars for brand new people same thing error
Just ordered one of these through your link, im new to sim racing but even so was having all kinds of issues with the brake pedal on my beginner set up, hoping that this helps me out.
Thanks man - let me know what you think of it!
Ordered today using your link! Thanks
Thanks man, appreciate it and I hope you find it as good as I do!
Was considering buying it but then i remembered that when I did the inverted pedal mod, i had to keep their cover casing just because i couldn't ply the wires off their original inputs. So i just swapped gass with clutch and was good to go
You get this only with old sets, as the wiring gets old and stuck like it is
Excellent timing!
@@justpostedagain Great idea! What spring did you end up using?
@@albertovanoldenbarneveld7718 The green 23kg one. I still had to drop it a bit by calibrating via Windows USB Controllers. My pedals are against a wall but my office chair limits how hard I can push. I feel no great need to go to a harder spring though. The Logitech pedal plastic box creaks a bit even with the green spring!
Would you say its better than a load cell?
Someone I know holds the Assetto Nordschleife lap record (-5 min) in his country, since 2019. Will this mod help him out any? He still runs that G27.
I’ve never driven with two feet but I suspect I should keep the low resistance pedal for now to learn how then switch later once I’m good enough
I got dinged on my driving test 35 years ago for using two feet. It was rather absurd as it gave me more control and ensured I slowed down when moving my left foot, either with a clutch or brake.
@@MysticalDragon73 it’s really not hard at all, I just think that only using one foot forces you to drive more conservatively
Great explanation video!! What about putting the brake pedal in the place of the cluster one? Did anyone tried it? What was the experience? Thanks
Hi Danny! Could you share an interesting configuration with the cell pedals in the ACC? Or even how to configure it? Thanks! You are too wild! Success
I upgraded and my times are amazingly faster and more easier to be consistent. I still need lots of practice I'm new to using my racing rig.
Is it worth it while still using a G27 wheel + pedals?
Or can you run the Pedals with any other wheel?
I really want a step up from my g27setup and already have a new shifter.
Cheers!
If on pc you can run it with another wheel. If on console you need a Logitech wheel
Will absolutely get this! Cheers for sharing
Thanks dude, I can't recommend it enough for those sticking with Logitech pedals for a while!
@@dannyleeracing I currently have done the rubber in the brake pedal trick, this seems much better!
I installed it, with the blue spring and medium spacer, but the travel between 0-100 brake pressure is reached really quickly. Is that normal
Did you change any brake settings in ACC after this panel upgrade?
Does anyone know if it is ONLY FOR LOGITECH? For example pedals like the TP8… for trusthmaster, or the PXN V10 which are similar… it is able to work, or even fit in?
Hope will se this available for thrustmaster 3tpa pro soon!
They are snap ring pliers not circular pliers.
Do you think its feasible to move the brake to the outside clutch position? I due use a clutch and hate the cramped nature of the pedals.
I haven't tried it myself, but it would seem like something that's possible
Wonder if this could work with fanatec
Does anyone know what length the shock/coil are from eye-to-eye?
Tia
.4 of a second would be massive for me. Sold
I'm certain it'll give you a gain, as it did for me - come back and let me know how you get on
How does 23kg spring compare to original in terms of stiffnes?
It'll be a lot stiffer
I have a bad left knee due to a childhood accident, and I'm looking to buy one of these.. I see it comes with a few different springs, do you think they're suitable (probably the easiest spring to use would be my go to) for someone in my position? As the Logitech brake pedal is really bad and I've only had the pedals a few days. Thanks in advance.
I think you'll be OK with the softest spring - is it pressure that causes the most problems, or range of motion?
I have an issue with the setup. Cant apply force propperly as the setup wont allow. Do you know of any not incredibly expensive solution? Anyways than you for the video, truly amazing
What's happening to it? Is it physically not allowing you (as in tipping over)?
@@dannyleeracingeither the chair tips or i slide backwards. I might end up either having to remove the Rubber or eventually need some sort of low end chasis but man i wish i could upgrade to the true brake mod. Looks mint!
Does this upgrade get rid of the '2 step' feel to the OG brake pedal even though its harder to push?
If you use the right combination of spacers and spring then definitely - you can either have a distinct 2-step feel or almost none at all. The combination I use (hard spring with biggest spacer) gives the most pronounced 2-step feel
is the deadzone normal or did i install it wrong?
would this be a good mod to do if I just wanted to upgrade the wheelbase in the future to something like the fanatac csl dd and keep the shifter and pedals from the logitech to try and bring down cost?
Yep - I used the Logitech pedals with a Moza R12 wheelbase by using a Logitech G adapter
The actual kit itself looks quality, too
That YT @ handle is giving me a serious Anton Ego moment
Hi, can I ask how you mounted the pedals to the Omega Prime? Thanks
I used a couple of the corner brackets and bolted it from underneath - there are 6 bolt holes you can use but I used the 3 closest to the 'front'

@@32adinReally interesting to read about your experience, how are you finding it after a few weeks?
I'm looking to buy my first Sim wheel. Should I get the G920 or G923 if i'm going to be getting this mod?
The G920 is probably the better value option, the G923 doesn't add much
Can it be used on the accelerator? So far, this is my problem on this type of pedal and wheel set.
You wouldn't want to use it on the accelerator. What issue do you have with the throttle?
Top lad Dan 👍🏁🇬🇧
ok i'm buying!
@@dannyleeracing Legend , thankyou
@@dannyleeracing I think maybe the spring I have is too much. I basically use a pc chair with brakes on the wheels. I find that when i brake hard I just lift the chair up lol

Nothing special done in ghub or windows, you're limited in what you can do anyway to be fair.

I would love to do this to my brakes but I dont want to mess up
I've just started and bought this mob as a priority, it's not complicated to install, just take your time, one tip though when you turn your pedals upside down rest the base on an open box but support the ends otherwise the base can slip inside the box.
They've increased the price to £65.99 now
Is it okay if it is installed on the accelerator pedal? Can it provide forced feedback like the PS5 controller does?
This is only for the brake pedal and it doesn't produce force feedback or haptics like a controller, unfortunately! If you try using this for the accelerator then you'll have a real bad time...
@@dannyleeracing thank you for your explanation
@@dannyleeracing without accelerator force feedback is really difficult to handling while drifting using pedal

Good mod but I highly recommend the Ricmotech LC27-3 Load Cell Mod kit V3 works great with G29 G920 G923 & also paired with the Leo bodnar USB cable for G Series pedals expensive but worth it
is it similar to loadcell brakes?
It gives you a very similar feel in my opinion - I use the same 'technique' on an AXC Sim truebrake as I would any other load cell

Hi Danny, I got my kit in an incredible 2 days and I'm wondering which of the Spacers (3 sizes) do you think is the best to use?
For me the best setup is as described in the vid, smallest spacer, strongest main spring
