I thought about doing the RIPP supercharger on my 2016 JKU Rubicon, but decided to buy a 2021 Rubicon EcoDiesel instead. All the torque, better mileage and I still have my warranty.
I installed a Magnuson SC Oct 2020 on my ‘20 Gladiator Sport 6 speed. I have changed gearing to 4:56, 35” tires, 2” factory Fox lift. The installer is a Calgary AB based reseller and installer of Magnuson SC. I am on tune #9. I am not an overlander or rock crawler. I drive a lot of mountain hwys in BC/AB asphalt and dirt. The best performance is on hwy passing from 90kmh to 140kmh with RPM btw 4,000 and 6,000. The worst is mid range pulling up a mtn road, like a ski hill, where the engine will hiccough and stumble. I’ve also had some scary instances passing in 4whl high snowy roads and the computer cuts power. I can not recommend this modification after 16 months. I will be contacting Ginger to seek help.
Having the 2.7 TT Ecoboost option in the Bronco is what made me choose Ford over Jeep. I dont regret it, my Badlands is very quick with 35s and I have tons of simple bolt ons that will allow me to work up to about 500 lbft of torque
I'm curious as to how it would perform on my manual JT Rubicon, looking at getting 5.13 gears (was recommended to do those over 4.88 for manual), Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch, 2.5-3" lift and 37" tires.
I keep reeding that the pentastar engine(what I have in my mojave) won't handle a supercharger. Make it go boom boom? Is this true? Are you seeing any signs of engine wear, are you worried about it?

Hi! I'm running a RIPP high boost setup with the big intercooler, coilpacks, and catch can, like you. I'm also running water/methanol injection on top of it and I tuned her up on HP tuners. I managed to add boatloads of timing and picked up lots more power at the same boost levels. Plus I get the cooling benefits of the WMI, which is why I really wanted it. I have been running the supercharger for 2 years and the WMI for 1 year. It runs beautifully. So, I actually got the chance to race 2 392's on the street! I bet you never thought you'd hear a Jeep guy say that! Man, off the line I wasn't willing to launch the crap out of my manual transmission that hard because I would smoke my clutch. The 392 from a dead stop is ridiculous. Buuuuuut, I got to run one from low speed on the highway and there's NOTHING in it. My 3.6 SC WMI must be putting out roughly the same HP numbers or maybe more HP and definitely less torque than the 392. But, for like $8k I'll take it...that 392 is bananas expensive but she definitely scoots. Our SC setups can't match those torque figures...but we can get bananas HP out of it and our little V6 can compete!!!
My 2021 Jeep Gladiator Mojave is just like the Rubicon. I got it from the factory with Lockers in the front and sway-bar disconnect just like the Rubicon. Maybe you guys in Canada can’t get the Mojave with the lockers and sway-bar disconnect?? But, jus to let you know you can get the Gladiator Mojave just like the Rubicon. It’s an Awesome JT and I Absolutely Love It!!! Love your channel and love all of your adventures!!!
How's the auto trans holding up to that power? Isn't it rated around 500ft lbs? I just keep thinking one day you'll have a really cold morning and kaboom! lol
@@Casey250 for what you do with the jeep it would probably be the best way to go. I may have to do that to my 2021. It was rear-ended in December. Needs new frame which finally showed up last Tuesday from Canada. Also new def tank which is on Nation wide back order here in the states. So if the tank doesn't show by March I will be definitely be looking in to a delete kit.
Curious to see how long this setup lasts. A lot of the shops and people on forums talk about how they have ran many of the different forced air set ups on the 3.6 and swear that the 3.6 cant handle it for long. Best of luck, keep us updated, would love to see it last and do well.
@David Peters the Magnuson, Edelbrock, and Ripp superchargers all beat the 3.6's internals to hell. Everyone I've talked to that has supercharged their 3.6 Pentastar has developed a rod knock after a couple thousand miles after installation. If you add boost to a naturally aspirated engine, you need forged internals to survive. Besides most of these bolt on superchargers only run 8 to 10psi anyway, and you won't see much of a power gain until you crank the boost up a bit.

@@renojpuente have you truly tested out 3rd and 4th gear in your Gladiator? Versus a sports car on a crooked Road? If not you should.. Just upgrade the suspension.. Fox 2.0 is stupendous. As far as power, 3rd gear will give you all you want.. starting at about 32 miles per hour up to 70 ish..

The Ginger has a really cleanly put together Mohave and the RIPP install really seems to fit nicely into the build, especially with all the custom tuning he's done to improve the drivability. So is he not running a front locker at all, and just the added sway bar disconnect ? Has jeep figured out that over heating / detune issue on the eco diesel. And might you all be able to rock a video about how far off roading rise you can go with only needing a rear locker before its time step up into front and rear aka mohave vs rubicon ?
No front locker. Jeep still detunes under stress and heat but I rarely see it. In my opinion if your going places you truely need 37s, then you want front and rear lockers.
I bet the MPGs have gone up a little since you don't have to lay into it so much. I have a JLUR that has a 2.5" lift and 37s. With the 6 speed manual, at times I feel like my foot is on the floor just trying to go up a hill in 2nd.
I thought the MPG might end up equivalent because the motor wouldn't have to work as hard to turn the tires, but I would love to know. I have the same setup as you, JLUR/37s/Manual, but no lift yet. Did you notice much of a difference before and after? (If you had the 37s on before you lifted it)
NIce Video Casey. Got a Question on Superchargers for your tech buddy. How well do they add power at LOWER RPM's? You know, when off roading and crawling? Also has Ginger had experience with other brands of superchargers, like Magnuson for example? I drive a 2020 2 door manual trans Rubicon w/ 5.13 gears running 37" tires and find the 3.6 a slug at lower RPM's (lower than 2.5K), and pick up does not really set in until l get above 3k RPM's. My Holley CAI and Magnaflow cat back rock crawler exhaust helped a little, but the low RPM latency and sluggish power is still very noticeable.
You want a roots style supercharger for low end like an edelbrock.it will make full boost at like 2k. A centrifugal like this blower builds boost with rpm so it won’t make full boost till the top of the rev range. Either style will be cool on the street
Please ask the Ginger.... I ordered the front trail camera and therefore I need to keep the plastic mesh grill installed. I notice that his is removed. Is that more so he could really see the supercharger, or was there a clearance issue?
His entire powertrain warranty becomes voided as soon as the supercharger was installed, but not anything that is unaffected by that or any other modifications that were done.

Last I saw the supercharger was still attached to the engine, and the engine was sitting on a pallet in the shop, and the Gladiator had a 392 V8 installed in it.

I did the Ripp on my 09’ JKUR. The manual didn’t say anything about running heavier motor oil. I wonder if it’s something I should do. My only complaint with the RIPP is I get this mild power surging when cruising on the highway with little load on the motor. I can see on the surge on the boost gauge too. Other then that I’ve been super happy with the power upgrade.

Not a big fan of RIPP, so much cutting and irreversible mods have to be done to get it to fit. Sure it's cheaper than the Edlebrock E Force and gets more HP to the rear tire but it comes at a sacrifice.

If you really desire the power gain, save your money for a V8 upgrade of some sort. Supercharging the 3.6 is not the smartest idea for longevity unless you deal with the internals and at that point it makes 0 sense to dump that much money into that motor lol.
I only came for the supercharger but had to listen about all the fucking sponsored parts because I guarantee you there wasn’t one part purchased by you. That thing will never leave the pavement.

GME-T6 will soon fill the power plant gap this platform desperately need. The 3.6 is anemic , and the diesel will be a headache after warranty. I’d rather have 5.7 at a reasonable price But Jeep refuses .

as we all know, there is no free lunch and there is no free energy (Einstein said that...). so if you "super charge" something, wouldn't it effect the life of the engine and all the other components link to it? as you running it much hotter and in much higher pressure than the 15,000 engineers that design it intended? which expand why it will void warranty...

I would've anodized that intercooler red instead of powdercoating it, that way it wouldn't impact the heat transfer efficiency.

Long term - 2 of 2 super charged v6 truck owners ended up with v8 swaps.
heard tell the pushrods over a period of time will not hold up to it in the 3.6 better off with a mild tune .

Casey look up green diesel engineering. They have a tune for eco diesel that give 40+ hp and 80+ torque.
Last time i spoke to them it was gen 2 ecodiesels and rams only

It's just the procharger style that are having issues. The screw compressors don't have issues.

Those seats are fire , i test drove a mojave and i felt like i was on a cloud .They really need to put them in the Rubicon .

You can add a heavier flywheel to help low rpm response , but my only cure was to get rid of it .

Keeping the camera is possible, we have instructions on how to install it with the intercooler.

Question - Why the Rubicon sway bar with Evo manual disconnect instead of something like the AntiRock or Sway-Loc?
I personally feel that a locked swaybar that unlocks is better then an antirock in many circumstances with offroad articulation and on road driving.

Not a big fan of RIPP, so much cutting and irreversible mods have to be done to get it to fit. Sure it's cheaper than the Edlebrock E Force and gets more HP to the rear tire but it comes at a sacrifice.

If you really desire the power gain, save your money for a V8 upgrade of some sort. Supercharging the 3.6 is not the smartest idea for longevity unless you deal with the internals and at that point it makes 0 sense to dump that much money into that motor lol.

as we all know, there is no free lunch and there is no free energy (Einstein said that...). so if you "super charge" something, wouldn't it effect the life of the engine and all the other components link to it? as you running it much hotter and in much higher pressure than the 15,000 engineers that design it intended? which expand why it will void warranty...
