good lap...and VERY little traffic....just lacks top speed.....but thats the caterham for you....cheers....been there in a caterham back mid 90s....great fun...but it needs power....especially uphill and on the straight...
@@stratman9449 yeah they are great cars for the ring, but as you say just lack a bit of power for the straights. This is a 310r race car so the engine is sealed so it won’t be going quicker in a straight line unfortunately 🙈
Thanks, I would of liked more time and another lap or two to push a bit harder, but unfortunately it shut. I will have to come back for a track day and see if I can get closer to 7m40s with no traffic and a bit more familiarisation.
@@blairmcconachie I started a thread on the CL7C forum in the summer, about organising a Nords trip next year. At this years DNevent in May there were only two of us in Cats - I thought it would be fun to get a larger group next year 😊
Yes a relatively mild 7, about the same lap time as a civic type R. Both very quick ,especially for availability ,easy of everyday driving and especially PRICE . Close to supercar times .
Completely stock suspension for the 310r. Just a nice setup on the car that suits me. A little toe out at the front, a little bit of rake, max castor and about -2.5deg camber at the front.
Thanks Chris, really enjoyed it in the 310R. Would of liked to have got more laps and probably have done on a track day if I could without the lights and have a flying start at bridge. Maybe next year 🤞🏻
I would love to go back, ideally on a track day to get a running start. Yeah I agree, light was getting bad on this lap and I only had 1 tank of fuel and had to do 5 in a row to get laps in before close. So not ideal. Vbox had me at a 7m42sec ideal which would mostly be the traffic hold up. The 310r class is now on ZZR and they are looking about 1 sec per minute or lap time quicker than the ZZS. Very very rough figures but it would be great if that translates to. 7secs off or approx 7m35s lap with a clear track. Plus as you say a bit more time off just due to familiarity of the lap. Congrats on the lap, I remember it from years ago when I first put my academy lap up. It would be great if more racers put their caterham race cars round here 👍🏻
@@HO5413 you can download the regs from Caterham’s website and they will specifically mention part numbers so you can work backwards to get spring rates and damper codes.
Proper peddling 🙌👌 I'm a second slowing in my 420R at the moment 🙃😂 with a little traffic but still, I've got some work to do! Great seeing this 🙌👌👏🚗💨 Did you roadtrip it there also? And what tyre pressures are you running? 🤔
Don’t worry you will get there, I have been a few times and track knowledge is key 👍🏻 I kind of did a road trip… was racing at spa in the 310r championship round then went straight to a TF from the track before it got dark. Tyre pressure would of been same as the race so approx mid 20’s all round hot. But didn’t check before going on I was in such a rush! One full tank and lapped till it was beyond the red!
Very clean. I know those cars give you a ton of feedback and the camera stabilizes the footage a chunk, but it ‘looked’ like you could have carried a lot more speed through some of those turns. More to come I reckon😉
I would have loved to have got there a bit earlier and got more laps. 4 laps in 4 years so I wasn't quite up to speed but that was the last lap on my ticket and also the light was a lot darker than shown on camera!. Would love to return and get the time down a bit.
Wow! Amazing driving and such a great machine! Always enjoy it and stay safe!
Utter excellence good man!! Bravo!

@@blairmcconachie I’m hoping to return next year on a DNevents day. Well run, closed track, events.
That would be my ideal as well. I have done them in the past and they are well run. Also you get a running head start onto the BTG lap.

Nice smooth drive 👍. The car seems very well balanced. Any specific stuff performed on the suspension/chassis side ?

FFS, well done Blair, very impressive!😂

Very nice 👍👌✌️
Thanks! You should take your caterham over there. They are perfectly suited to the track 👍🏻
There’s definitely more in it. I felt there was a bit more in my 420R. Are you planning on heading back?

Nice lap 💪🏻 which suspension and arb setting are you running on the Nordschleife?
Thanks 👍🏻 Red bar front and 2nd stiffest on the rear. Works well.
@@blairmcconachie with the Bilstein M1 Track Damper/Spring configuration?
@@HO5413 it was with the standard 310r race car suspension which I think you are correct is “m1”.

And this is not the most powerful 7 by any means , there are faster ones like the 620
I would love to have a shot of a 620R round here to see what could be done 👍🏻
