It's very apparent you're fast. Besides the point of passing everyone, you finished in essentially high 8 minutes! That's unbelievably fast; especially since you constantly had to follow and pass many slow drivers! Only 20 years ago, that was super car speeds (doesn't seem so long ago for me LOL 😆).
I love the fact that there is a Swiss motorway vignette for 2015 on the dashboard. It would be nice to see an Atom in your rear-view mirror (for a fraction of a second) as it races past.
What a masterpiece. I remember C&D characterizing the Atom as being able to “pass a Z06 on the track like it’s a minivan.”. I adore the way you can see your tire’s relation to the apex by just looking down. Incredible.
You must have not watched the video. The corvette simply played with the atom as the said minivan, letting it pass and then passing him again. Perhaps he was trying to see if it will crumble under pressure and drive into a wall, like Senna did with Schumacher on his tail.
@@tudormontescu6275 I not only watched the video, I know a few things about cars, such as the fact that, on a track with curves, the Z06 is hopelessly outclassed by the Atom. Might as well be.. well, a minivan.
Was cool to hear you back way off at the end. Awesome performances from both drivers, but obvious sound drops indicate either traffic (which you had no problem getting around), mechanical issues (which there were zero signs of) or a willingness to make a close ending. Either way it was an wonderful video, thanks guys for sharing that with us.
I suspect that the last kilometre or so is driven at lower speeds. It seems as if it’s meant to give drivers and riders a few seconds to dial their brains down from race pace to normal low speeds, and then exit the track in a careful manner. Otherwise, they might get “last lap” passing moves, to get to the exit ahead of that vehicle you’ve been chasing hard for most of the lap. That could be quite dangerous, so this way the track users have a few seconds to chill out and get back to normal reality before leaving the track. Very smart.
You are definitely a person who is one with his machine! That was so cool! You should have had a rear view camera also so we could see if the Corvette was keeping up with you. Next time perhaps? 😁
I love the instant ‘attack’ from the ‘off’. That was confidence. Knowing the track and knowing the car. Must’ve driven that a few times? Well done, it was a joy to watch.

I always love returning to this video here and there. The knowledge that vette is just right up ya the entire time and the stunning moment (that I notice is now the 'Most Replayed' moment) is that little (guessing Evo?) realizing he got stuck in the pocket and just absolutely smashes the throttle to get out of your way.
This guy has some chops. The corvette was technically superior- the Ariel couldn't hang with it on the straightaways, but the ariel driver was taking his ride closer to the car's full abilities. Fun to watch.
He looks so comfortable, that it almost seems like his regular commute back from the office! It looked just as much fun as it sounded! I was there with you, twisting my phone at every corner, my feet ballet dancing and heart rate through the roof, brilliant!
The only thing that could have improved this?
A rev counter and speedometer.
That was absofuckinglutely amazing.
Maybe also one of the g-force indicators. I'm sure some of those corners at that speed would be pretty high g-force.
I’d say he was doing about 900mph for the lap
How about some music?
Perhaps a heavy metal version of "On Days Like These".
Nah, the sound of that engine beats any music.
@@thomas1942 You only had to watch the key fob swinging to the right to get an idea of the G forces on left hand corners.
I love the track etiquette and the way how politely they drive (and should drive at those speeds).
@@sonder6434 I guess there always will be the one, who pushes to the limit and either wrecks someone's car or gets somebody (or self) killed...
I've watched this film a dozen times over the last two years, and it never gets old.
I love the fact that there is a Swiss motorway vignette for 2015 on the dashboard. It would be nice to see an Atom in your rear-view mirror (for a fraction of a second) as it races past.
Q show 😃
That was honestly great to watch from the perspective of the roll bar. Great drivers all round
That has to be the most fun you can have on wheels, yes 1,2,3 or 4. And I'm a Vette guy.
They "know" the Ring... In and out, over and over... Awesome driving skills!!! ++++++
That was fantastic, yea I agree with a previous comment, several little cameras in your car would be nice, looking at you, looking behind etc.
That ZO6 never had a chance. You let him pass you, you took a momentary coffee break, then passed him again with zero effort. Awesome driving.
Magnificent course, amazing machine. Looks a lot more dangerous than racing, though, with the wide disparity of skill and performance. Thank you!
That's why it is exciting!
On long straights you better watch out though.
@@trippybruh1592 As long as there weren't a whole lot of curves before it... haha.
@@glashoppah haha true
Very smart.
Car and driver lighting up the track. Just watching this made my heart rate go up! Amazing.
You are definitely a person who is one with his machine! That was so cool! You should have had a rear view camera also so we could see if the Corvette was keeping up with you. Next time perhaps? 😁
TRY TO IMAGINE THAT BIG BLOCK IN AN ATOM..
OMG...IT WOULD FLY!!!
I love the instant ‘attack’ from the ‘off’. That was confidence. Knowing the track and knowing the car. Must’ve driven that a few times? Well done, it was a joy to watch.
Christ Almighty but that was bloody exciting.
At 70, possibly the best driving video that I have ever seen.
Six Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
.
Looks like everybody on track has a 50 km/h limiter on the car )))) Great video thank you!
Insane. Must have watched this 100 times. Proud Ariel is British and that I live less than a mile from your assembly plant 😊
Superbe voiture. Je suis toujours impressionné quand je vois des vidéos circuits de ce modèle. Elle a tout pour plaire.
Autant dire que quand c'est piloté proprement c'est juste le pieds à regarder.
Bravo. 👍
The way you attack those corners they're practically impromptu straightways!
The most exhilarating vod I've seen from this track so far. 👌🏾
The Evo driver gave it a red hot go, but that Atom just teleports effortlessly from corner to corner. Unreal!
The atom is a beast, but sometimes you have to let them by so they can do it for dale!
I've been on a high speed circuit run in an Ariel Atom... exciting and terrifying in equal measure
Great to watch. I'm used to seeing the atom on the Crewkerne road A356, the factory is just down the road from where I live, near to Hazelbury mill.
Love the fact there was a classic mini on there as well :-)
Amazed I still have the track memorized haven't played gran turismo in at least 15 years
Same here bro!
Yeah, got me feigning for sure 😏
This guy has some chops. The corvette was technically superior- the Ariel couldn't hang with it on the straightaways, but the ariel driver was taking his ride closer to the car's full abilities. Fun to watch.
Great video! Beautifully driven, safe and very fast! Well done indeed.
This was amazing to see... I often glanced down to see the map as if I were placing Forza!
Cheers to the great driving and for showing me that an Atom is just as much fun to drive as I always thought.
That’s a full on workout ! just like a go kart.
Great video thanks
Wonderful drivers and this was a joy to watch. This is something that will never happen in India. Kudos
He looks so comfortable, that it almost seems like his regular commute back from the office!
It looked just as much fun as it sounded!
The Ariel Atom was the most fun I had in a car at Driving Experience day here in the UK. Alone on a track as the sun was setting with the whine of a Hewland (?) gearbox behind me - spectacular!
I'd love to see the Atom's lap times, unencumbered by by other vehicles getting in its way! SWEET!
Great vid Sebastian! I really love it, me being a Chevy Guy... No doubt is one of my favorite vids 😃👍🏼 Thanks a lot for the re-upload 👍🏼
I, like many others around the world, had the privilege of watching the Formula 1 ... The great Niki lauda ... Race on this circuit .
Still one of my most favourite videos ever.....Damn...this guy can drive!!
F1 driver can drive
Still amazes me how good the atom is 14 years on from when it was 1st showcased on Top Gear
What’s to improve? 600 hp moving 1600 pounds is an incredible baseline.
@@CorePathway The vette has 600hp, not the atom. The original atom had 190hp. And the atom's kerb weight is even less than that. But they have improved the atom - they're on the Atom 4 now, which has a civic turbo engine, new suspension, brakes, the lot. Not to mention the atom V8 they made.
Refreshing to see how both drivers were respectful of others on the road (and each other). Both drivers were very impressive. The turn-in on the Corvette was amazing.
Respectful at 300 klm? I would say lucky when immersed in unprofessional traffic !
Most fun Nurburgring video ever and I've watched a lot!
Hope this gets another 6M views! Still an incredible race car the Atom is
Great to see 2 fast drivers having respect for eathother, what an amazing experience.
This would have been awesome in a 50/50 split screen with a 1st person view also from that ZR1. Both cars are beasts.
Not to take anything away from this amazing performance.... Would love to have watched it with a little rear view in the corner while you both diced with each other. Excellent drive thank you ☘️
Chopper shots of this would have been awesome!
C’est un missile cette auto ! Bravo pour la conduite impeccable 😊👍
Caught me in the first half. I thought he had dropped the corvette guy by miles.
It's like in the shows when the dead villain pops back in saying he didn't die
Had to slow down a few times so corvette was able to gain
Well, there's ten minutes of my life I won't get back.... 😅 and I'm very pleased about! Awesome stuff. 👌
A great example of the advantages of lightness over power.
dude...that was friggin awesome...i cant drive the nurburgring that well on ps4...dude you rock.,,,some of the best driving ive ever seen.
Wow, love the skills demonstrated here. you made that look way easier than it is.
Naaaa im pretty sure it is really really easy

I was just thinking, “man I wanna try this” but I’d probably still be behind the Geo Metro at the beginning.
Thanks for the break from reality! Reminds me when I drag and slalom raced back in the 70's.🥰
Would love to have a trackside view of the Atom going through the corners where all the crash videos take place.
If this is 'only' the 300 HP version, I'd like to see what the 500 HP model would do!
300hp makes sense. That gives a phenomenal power:weight ratio. I'm even more interested to know the power:torque ratio. It's gotta be up there
Nice driving! Skills and awareness of the surroundings.
This was awesome. I liked how you both waved each other on at different points. Great driving. No doubt your Atom was the fastest there that day.
